Great dog walking countryside with wide, well marked paths through forest land. Good for long walks and even better for long, long walks. My two collies love the open spaces and are properly worn out after a good two hour yomp!

A place of tranquil beauty and history with amazing views over North Somerset towards Wales. Great walk and pub nearby (The Swan).

A local walk for us. You can go through what looks like the Alpine village or walk past that on the lower road and you will find some stairs that lead to a footpath.

Its a short walk to the top, maybe a mile or less with a steep start but very rewarding. We parked down at doleberrow, the "car park" at the end of the road is tiny, enough space for maybe 5 cars, so just park on the a38 in Churchill if there's no room. Expect to have difficulty turning if the carpark is full (we did a 17 point turn). There are two ways up, some very steep steps from the car park or a stone path nearer the main road. Its clear to see its a hill fort, the shape is well preserved. As you near the highest point it becomes apparent that your efforts are well worth it. The views are really spectacular. You can see the mendips to the south, crooke peak, brean down, steep holm, weston super mare hill, Clevedon, portis head, all the way round to the airport. The whole Severn estery is there to see. We have found crooke peak to be a good walk with good views but somehow this place has a far more breathe taking panoramic view. Enjoy!

A really fantastic walk. Is a slight incline (for those of us with weaker knees) and spotted a dirt bike track throughout the site. Great for taking the dog and seen some horses too

Lovely place to walk, also lots of cyclists and horse riders. It can be quite busy at weekends but it's still worth it! (Remember wellies in the winter!) The steps up from Dolebury Warren are also a good workout!!

Great views even on a cloudy day. White noise of traffic is a bit annoying. You can see the outlines of the old forts and walls. Good vantage point for a picnic and a nap after walking up the hill!

Lovely walk up to the fort with steep wooded sides that my kids love to scramble on. The fort is fun for kids - pretty extensive earth work walls remain. You can do a range of routes depending how far you want to go. Car park is pretty small so a bit of a gamble whether you will find a space.
