Best way I can put it. For the location and the price, perfect. Don't book if you are pedantic and expect luxury. But if you want somewhere to put your head down

5 stars from me..excellent location.. spotlessly clean..superb value for money. Would I stay here again ?..damn right I would.. Bad points.. 1 requested a twin room..got a double ..no problem really 2 dated and needs a slight refurb 3 we had room 8..I'm sure we could see mount snowdon below us..101 steps..a killer..but still worthy of 5 stars. Like I say..I'd stay here again..

Location great, for the rest one of the most outdated rooms I stayed in. In the morning the markings on my back reminded me of the poor quality mattress. Shower was nothing more then a trickle and not even warm.

The gentleman that dealt with me was fab and helpful. Not worth £50 a night, my daughter was mortified. She used the loo and thought she was falling off as it isn't secure. Toiletries all fell off when she sat on it. Photos do not do the rooms justice. The place needs updating in so many ways. And definitely a new cleaner that can see dust, stains, marks and cleans the loo as it was stained from the last person that used it ! I used the toilet brush to clean the loo myself and was nearly sick the state on the loo brush. Absolutely appalling. The long flight of stairs (no lift) is no good to people with health problems. New carpet definitely needed, l was shocked to see such an old, worn out carpet. Postives: Great location and a bed to sleep at the end of the night.

ML Lodge is situated right in the heart of the city (above a kebab place lol) which was pretty convenient as I stayed there with my boyfriend after a night out. It was quick and easy getting our key and checking in. We were in room 4, which was surprisingly spacious and had all the facilities we'd need (bathroom with shower gel & shampoo provided, kettle with tea, coffee, sugar & milk). Unfortunately the TV was stuck on only one music channel and we couldn't change it. The lights were a bit dodgy in the bathroom and would flicker before turning on. Plus, the bed wasn't super comfortable and the room overall wasn't the most sanitary (we found multiple hairs and tissues next to the bed). However, for the price (it was just above £30 for 2 adults for 1 night) it was pretty fair and it is in a very convenient location. The guys at the check-in seemed friendly and were helpful.

Great location, feel it was a little overpriced, room was clean, shower was dreadful trying to keep the hot water on as it keeps cutting on and off, shower door didn't close properly because it was broken, it felt like the bare minimum was done to have the room acceptable bathroom light dosent work, £86 was paid for 1 night and if the price was lower than it would be okay but I expected a little more for what I paid.

This place is solely worth if you really don't care about cleanliness and need a very central place to explore Cardiff. Nothing to complain about the price, but everything about this place screams lack of care. The smell is dusty, the toilets are not clean, the linen have stains. The towels are washed but without caring about halos and stains. How this is a 3 star place is beyond me. Avoid this place.

One of the worst places I have ever had to endure in my life! Only stayed because a friend was to to tight to take the loss and go else where. If you do have limited resources I recommend stay at home and do not put yourself through this unless you’re ok with blood stains on curtains and other bodily fluids I can only presume everywhere

pleasant stay, very centre of the city. 2 minutes to Castle or clubs. the building is bit run down but the room rates are cheap.

Very central, easy check-in and check-out, room was spacious and clean. For that price, absolutely perfect.

Good location on the High Street. Cardiff Castle and The City Hall are within 15 min of walking distance. Lots of places around to eat. Rooms are budget friendly. Don't have high expectations. Good for solo travellers and business trips when overnight stay is required and keeping within budget is the top priority.

not bad stay , toilet needs attention as not secure , door handle to bathroom not fixed properly , if you wanted a hot drink then black tea with sugar is all there is , carpets on stairs health and safety issue ....it's a shame as perfect location

To be honest it's alright for a cheap stopover. Central location, reasonable condition rooms. Very steep staircase for those with mobility issues.

Won't go again, carpets stained, wicker chair in room damaged, hole in cupboard door,14"tv that you had to keep moving aerial for picture and 4 steep flights up to room no lift,if you have mobility issues don't go there for this alone!!!!No receptionist you had to go next door to chicken restaurant for key and to pay!!!

Very impressed with the size, location and price of this recent Hotel stay. Impeccably clean, very spacious and airy. All things needed at hand including hair dryer, ironing board plus iron, toiletries and towels. Good size comfortable bed and plenty of tea/coffee/sugar to use. One drawback only is no lift but knew that before booked. Recommended as in the heart of the City Centre and perfect for train and bus locations which are literally around the corner.

I stopped in room 3 of this hotel on Friday 8th October 2021 This hotel was good had comfortable bed and acceptable bathroom facilities Had ample things in it such as TV and fan and kettle the staff on duty at the sister hotel called the Sandringham over the road on the Saturday 9th October were a credit to the hotel and helped me greatly with a unforseen problem which occurred ASAP thanks !!!!! at the price it charged I always would use again for a 1 night stop when on a football trip

Me and my two friends stayed here last night and tbh for 120 pounds for one night was crazy everything was mouldy smelt horrible or broken nobody said that there was no lift or anything 95 steps and have bags it’s a killer don’t get me wrong it’s right in the middle of the town witch is amazing but they need to sort the rooms out and carpets.

  • 4/5 Joel I. 1 year ago on Google
Pretty outdated hotel but comfortable enough for me. It's (relatively) inexpensive and you pay for what you get: check-in is in the chicken shop downstairs, no lift so be prepared for a real climb.

Found a sandwich on top of a fire escape light. Spoke to the guys at check in amd one had such a attitute and replied back with. "Its only toast" still shouldnt of been there. curtains don't draw had to tie the knot. Not lights working only a lamp. Bathroom door don't close or lock shower was way to small and the shower door wouldn't close. ceiling fixtures hanging. And we paid 70 pound a night. No worth it. Found 2 very badly STAINED pillows and a random curtain in the wardrobe. Holes in the outside windows and not mention of the mountain of stairs we had to climb to get to our room.

  • 1/5 Nicky G. 1 year ago on Google
There was blood marks on wall , the curtain pole was held together with a cable tie, the socket was cracked and didnt work, the shower was just a trickle and leaked across the floor , the windows are single pain with out dated wooden frames , toilet in another room was loose and moved when it was touched. Won't be staying here again and won't be recommending to anyone

Friendly accommodating staff. Accessible to train and almost all shops and restaurants. Budget place accommodating for those looking more for a simple place to just sleep and rest, if you don’t mind the stairs since there’s no elevator.

  • 4/5 Alejandro P. 1 year ago on Google
Location is perfect. Right in the city centre. My room was clean, bathroom's light didn't work properly though. Reception is in a kebab shop 🤣. People complain about stairs here but it's an old building and the prices aren't too high, I paid £23 per night mid july.

    Simply amazing.

Parking cost £26, the bathroom had no curtain at the window so when I was showering the block behind could see me. There was no hot water and the heater cut off in the middle of the night so it got very cold. Other than the the only decent thing was the bed
