Don’t expect any frills - it’s a budget hotel, and for the price, these days, it’s pretty good. Small rooms, odd plastic shower in the bedroom and a toilet in the cupboard BUT everything is spotlessly clean and the bed is comfortable and the shower was surprisingly efficient, hot and good pressure. At this price, no complaints. Friendly staff too. For a two night functional trip where we literally just washed and slept in the hotel and spent the whole day travelling around, you can’t beat it.

A good hotel close to the city centre, and convenient to the main rail stations. Taxi service to Cardiff Bay and the Airport is very convenient, and is very convenient for the University of South Wales. The rooms, while small, are clean and comfortable. Even with the heat wave in July 2022, the room's cooling system was able to keep up fairly well. The staff were all friendly and helpful. This hotel may not be suitable for larger families or longer stays, but for four nights it is a great choice for a cost effective stay close to the city centre.

Good and affordable for a few days holiday. Great staffs. Lift available for the floors and a lounge area for sitting. Intercontinental breakfast available. Wheel chair accessible entrance and car park available. Right opposite CO OP supermarket for easy shopping. Just 5-10 minutes walk from city centre. Room air conditioning for summer. But no wardrobe, no bar or restaurant. Free complimentary coffees and tea.

Nice hotel for a night's stay if in town for an event. Well managed with easy to follow instructions for entry to car park. Reasonably priced for location. Although walking distance to town centre, taxi service is recommended which is very efficient and simple to do from reception. Rooms are clean and tidy. The one we stayed in was a standard double which also had a another bed above the double. Bed itself was comfortable with basic amenities like TV, towels, soap. Main let down are toilets. If you are a tall person or on the larger side you may find the space restrictive. There is a cafe for breakfast downstairs next to reception but also local CoOp is just across the road.

Great clean and comfortable stay. Would stay again definitely. Reception were very helpful and were willing to make my three year old a hot chocolate whenever we requested it which made our days and nights so much easier. The only downfalls were there wasnt a microwave out to use although im sure if you asked they would have done so. And finally only one plug socket in the room.

Basic level, budget hotel in easy walking distance of Cardiff City Centre. (10 minutes). No views, no frills, but cheap and cheerful. The room was compact, the bed was comfortable, the shower was hot and worked well. You can also walk to Cardiff Bay, about 40 minutes.

Lovely hotel! The staff were amazing & so accommodating with our check-in & when we were stuck with parking. They went above & beyond for us & ensured we were looked after. The place is so lovely & clean & the rooms were perfect for what we needed, not to mention the overnight cost was fantastic! Well done to the lovely hotel & hard working staff. You made our stay very enjoyable!

Rooms are fit for purpose. Very clean but basic. Not a problem if you just need a place to crash after going to an event. Shower cubicle opens directly into room, so fine if you are a couple or staying on your own. Could do with somewhere to put stuff (like glasses) if you are in the top bunk. Only complaint was the temperature of the room. Far too hot to sleep even with the window open.

Basic accommodation yes, but it's described as a budget hotel and the rooms are of a great and hygienic standard. Good value for money and helpful hotel staff. Ten to fifteen minute walk into town but manageable. Would stay again.

We had two nights in the Ibis budget hotel in Cardiff and it was brilliant. The staff were friendly and helpful and the room was lovely. I'm disabled and use a wheelchair and the room and wet room were excellent. Tea and coffee available as you wanted it. The hotel in my opinion couldn't be falted

Rooms need a serious maintenance schedule. Heat not working, trim falling off just not looked after. Would be ok to stay in if upkeep was better. Location is good for city centre.

great location but the rooms are very basic and for a similar price you can do much better. We were woken up by the fire alarm at 4am due to other guests smoking in their room. not ideal

Cheap, really cheap... however everything you could ask for, it's clean and friendly.. our room had everything we needed, breakfasts available and the location is bang next to everything you could need, train station is around the corner and a co-op store across the road. Right down the street from the centre of Cardiff but was quiet at night. I'll definitely stay there again.

Don’t be fooled just because it’s “budget” probably one of the most cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. Staff constantly cleaning reception and hall ways. Bathroom for customers was spotless and always smelt really clean. Breakfast was lovely, plenty to choose from, and at more than an affordable price, considering it was all you can eat, so no limit. Our room was lovely, clean shower and toilet. Couldn’t fault it. Had all the essentials we needed. I would definitely stay here again.

Super budget hotel. Expect a comfy bed & clean basic small room. We found it very cold & had to ask for extra blankets. Hot water available down in the lobby, but for tea drinkers, the water isn't boiling so doesn't make the best cuppa!

It's not a 5-star hotel by any means, but it is a pleasant place to stay when visiting Cardiff. Rooms are small but are clean and comfortable, ŵith hot showers that keep their temperature. No coffee in the room, but it is available 24/7 for free in reception along with snacks you can purchase. Decent quality buffet breakfast. Hotel has a car park, and is located in a quiet area which is less than 10 minutes walk from town centre. Staff are very friendly.

My friend and I were so pleased with how accommodating this hotel was, that we called at 0930 to ask if they had any rooms available and not only did the gentleman get us into a room with two twins, but he was also able to get us checked in immediately for an extra 10£ free on top of the 47£ booking. Upon arriving, the reception was friendly and gave us a few suggestions within the city. The hotel was clean and modern; the room was spacious, and clean, and offered a comfortable bed after our long train travel. This hotel is only 15 minutes by foot from the Central station. Thank you, Cardiff Centre Staff!

When we arrived we were greated by a friendly person behind the desk. They were very clear and helpful and setup our keycards speedily so we could get settled. The room was clean, tidy and simple but better than expected considering what we paid. Definitely not a bad place to go for a cheap getaway 😊

Budget is a good description. Great location close to the Utilita Arena and city centre, the few staff we dealt with were nice enough. Room was small, especially for 3 of us, but ok for 1 night although it was very cold the night we stayed (early December during a freezing change in weather), the heating system just blew cold air. We had seen someone getting an oil filled radiator from reception before going to bed which makes me think there was either a problem with the heating or they didn't put it on. Was too tired to go downstairs and find out so we all just cwtched up to keep warm. Room seemed clean. Facilities very limited with very small bar options that closed early. We paid £133 for 1 night which was cheaper than others in Cardiff for the occasion (we saw Michael Mcintyre in the Utilita), however we've had better stays in other hotels for the same money. I would say an ok place to get your head down for the night

It is what it is, a budget hotel, but taking all in to account it was very clean, nice shower, Very comfy bed and great location. The hotel throughout was very clean. Alcohol drinks and tea and coffee reasonably priced. Would definitely use again

Really small room, with no drawers or wardrobe. The sink is in the room and the toilet is like a box. No coffee or tea in the room but you could take it free from the reception. The check-in and check out really efficient. Good for one night stay but not more. Good WiFi connection.

Good location. Room is tiny, especially the toilet with hardly space to sit down. Other ibis budgets are better planned. Particularly annoying that no kettle in the room and only coffee (instant) available using a hit water boiler in the lobby. This became a safety hazard because the paper cups provided were cheap and nasty, collapsing in my hand and spilling hot coffee everywhere. Ibis needs to revert to a kettle in every room.

No frills hotel if you need somewhere to put your head down on a budget. No tea amd coffee in the room, you have to go down to the lobby where there's a self service area. Small TV, and shower and toilet were basic. Friendly reception staff and room was clean though, can't complain.

Super affordable room, so expect it as that. Staff were mostly nice, but at times came across as rude and unhelpful. Housekeeping threw away some of our belongings that shouldn't have thrown out... Breakfast was nice

Only paid £53 for a room with a double bed and single bunk. Room was clean with separate shower and toilet. Couple of notes, bizarrely shower door is see thru and no frills such as hairdryer, rea/coffee in room. However reception has free tea and coffee facilities available. Also dogs allowed. For the price it's very good

Booked this hotel to stay in for one night so I can see a concert in a nearby arena. For starters, despite being called a "Budget" hotel, I thought the pricing was fairly above the budget range I would expect. It was Friday so fair for prices to be higher than normal, but still thought the overall cost was greater than what the hotel offered. The rooms are quite small, but cozy. The shower and the sink are open in the room itself, with the toilet having a separate little room. I can imagine someone of a bigger size might find the shower and the toilet a little bit uncomfortable to use, as they are quite small. The staff were friendly and hospitable. Quick check in, quick check out. The location is pretty good, just about 10mins walk from the Central Station, and good walking distance to the Cardiff center for entertainment. There's a Co-op across the road from the hotel, which is convenient for quick meal or snacks. Overall - a decent place to stay if you're not planning on spending too much time in the hotel room itself.

Rooms were tight and very basic. Toilet was barely big enough to turn around in, shower was switching between hot and cold so I ended up not showering, and the door for shower room is pretty much see through and again a very tight fit so not great for privacy because you can see almost everything. We had a room with a bunk bed, double on bottom and single on top, I slept on top bunk and my mattress was absolutely awful, it was not a proper single mattress, it was as deep as a toddler mattress which meant I had an awful night's sleep. It wasn't dirty at all but it also wasn't a good quality room in any way. We paid 210 for 2 nights, I honestly wouldn't say its worth that. Close to town centre and I rate the staff highly as they were all so friendly and lovely.

The service from start to finish was first class! Every member of staff we met were extremely polite, helpful and down to earth. Nothing was too much trouble. Unfortunately, our room was tiny! Definitely didn't suit 3 people and a dog. Hardly enough room to swing a dog toy! As for the toilet, probably fine if you are under 5ft and slim, but if you're not, very enclosed! The shower is plenty big, maybe should have been the other way round. There is only a continental breakfast offering but it's very good and the setting is extremely clean and well looked after.

Clean spacious assessible twin room with large wet room, with toilet, shower and sink. Everything we needed was in the room including tv. Will definitely stay there again. Staff helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast looked good but due to my heath issues with food was unable to try what was on offer. Tea and coffee available free of charge 24/7. A very enjoyable stay. Good value for money. Also close to town centre.

I would have given this hotel at least 3 stars. Location is brilliant and price was reasonable. Our room was tiny but functional. It was clean although our friends room had plenty of cobwebs and dusty. Our air-conditioning did not work but theirs did. The window cannot be open in full so limited air flow was present in the room. There's Limited parking at the hotel although can park on side street 1 block away from it. Parking was reasonably priced. The hotel's common area stunk of sweat and damp. There is no sound proofing in this hotel. Majority of the guest didn't care and kept banging and slamming doors late at night ang very Early morning. Pretty much did not get any sleep because of this. To think this was an upgrade from wild camping, I guess this was more of a downgrade except of having a hot shower. 😔 Overall, if you plan to get restful sleep - beware, as you will not get anything but if you're after a hot shower, then will recommend it.

Very good value for money. Good size room, with ensuite bathroom, air conditioning, also very quite I didn't hear much noise at all. And if you need a place to keep your luggage before or after checkout they also offer that at no extra cost.

The location was perfect as was 5 to 10 minute walk to the main shops and restaurants. The bed in the ibis was really comfortable. The shower was very basic and the toilet was very small. On site parking was pretty fair to be honest. We weren't impressed that Novotel had their sign on all night which was coming though our window. It's a budget hotel and more positives than negatives. Use of iron on request downstairs, I'd take your own hair dryer as non provided.

Booked a stay last year that i could not attend due to covid 19 restrictions, at the time the hotel said they would honour the booking for another date but couldn't be refunded. now trying to book and they are refusing! awful company taking advantage of a pandemic.

Comfy bed, good location. Cheap as chips, but even for that price you do basically expect your room not to smell like drains… Sure most of the other rooms are fine though.

Grest value for money accommodation within easy walking distance from the city centre. Staff helpful and friendly too.

I have stayed at the Ibis Budget Cardiff many times pre-pandemic. I have found the rooms to be clean and comfortable always. And the staff, from the cleaning personnel to the front desk and the Manager, to be efficient,. friendly and helpful. Good value for money and fully-recommended!

The staff at this particular hotel are exceptional. I have visited on numerous occasions and without fail the staff have been incredibly kind, helpful and efficient. It was my birthday on the first night that we stayed, and they gave myself and the friend I was with a free drink each which was a lovely gesture. The rooms are comfortable, functional and clean. The beds are comfy and there are enough towels and a small television too. It's a shame that there's no kettle provided in the room itself, however totally understandable at this price point. The free tea and coffee making facilities in the lobby also more than make up for the lack of kettle in the room, as they are always kept well stocked by the staff. Not once did I go to make a cup of tea and find that there was no milk left! The location is a little out of town, but it's easy to get to the city centre via Uber (around £4.50 one way). There is also a bus stop very close by that serves a city bus which will also take you into the centre, although I didn't use it so couldn't comment on the price/frequency of the service.

Cheap and cheerful. Charged £160 on front desk though as opposed to the £130 booking. Com rate. Management please reach out.

The rooms are very small with the vanity really in the bedroom/dressing area. That said, the room was extremely clean, fairly quiet and well presented with a recent makeover. The bed was comfortable. The staff were absolutely fantastic, very friendly and well presented (10 out of 10 score for staff). Just a pity the room was so tiny...otherwise a perfect score and very good value.

You get what you pay for here. It’s budget buts it’s value for money and surprisingly better than expected. The breakfast was plentiful, plenty of choice, good coffee, clean restaurant area. All the staff were lovely except the guy on the desk - he was so miserable. We all have off days but you can be polite. The woman on shift had no problem being friendly. Location to the city and the bay is good, not far to walk to anything. Handy having a Coop opposite to grab any supplies like water etc. My room was cleaned on the 2nd day. Wasn’t expecting a refresh. Would you back for sure.

10 minutes walked from the Cardiff central station, same distance to the city centre, convenience, room is spacious, comfortable bed, very clean hotel, friendly staff, no hot food in the breakfast, just standard cold food, if you need to hot drink in the room, you will need to go down to pick up a hot drink or bring your own hot water bottle. Mostly funny part was, the house keeping even forgot to clean my room one day 😂 also, couple late evening, some other people slammed the door when they came back, annoying! Well, overall, it's budget hotel 😆

Great stay! Went there with my sister for her birthday concert gift and we found some many things in the room as a birthday surprise gift from the team! Thank you so much for your friendliness and helpfulness. Additionally, the room was very clean.nothing we needed that we didn't get!

I enjoyed my stay here. It was very clean & is kept that way fastidiously by the staff. Staff are also super efficient and more than happy to help with anything you require. The location is excellent being a short stroll to the heart of Cardiff (for all transport) with a good supermarket directly across the street. They offer a selection of drinks (including alcohol) on site & cook Pizza on site 24/7. The rooms are a decent size with your own facilities and mine had a good view. There are two lifts or the option of stairs. The price is what it is for Cardiff but I feel Accor could include breakfast rather than the additional £6. Having said that, the Continental breakfast is excellent with a Pancake maker & Coffee machines included. Thanks for your hospitality 👍

  • 2/5 PrezidentHughes 1 year ago on Google
All locations are definitely not made to the same standard. The rooms are quite small and individual rooms did not have a tea kettle. Fair enough. There was a 24hr tea/coffee facility in the common area (although they ran out of covers for the cups, so not the best way to take hot drinks up to your room). But our shower room was definitely in a poor state. Lots of mildew stains and rust. There wasn't an extractor. And the green titles they used in the shower room looked awful. Definitely not the usual trendy green trim of the Ibis Budget brand. The whole place could do with a general refurbishment and update.

Great budget hotel, rooms were good value for money. Nothing special but all basic amenities were met. Staff were friendly and helpful and happy to accommodate where possible. Great proximity to the city centre and I would stay again.
