Not my favourite hotel of the year, the first room they gave us was falling apart, they changed that, however the fun did not stop there. The restaurant only has a 3 on the hygiene rating, a bit worrying, then at 3:30 AM, we were woken to a false fire alarm, although we were the only ones to respond, which makes me feel it happens a lot. Food was mediocre and the breakfast was cold, when I asked for sugar, I was abruptly told "It's on the table" when it clearly wasn't and had to go hunting. Second room we were given was clean, but TV was tiny and nothing else to shout about. Apart from the young man that served us dinner, the staff were very short with us and we didn’t feel welcome.

We were visiting Cardiff for the Wales Vs All Black's game last weekend. Our stay from beginning to end was brilliant. Our rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast a real treat, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate our family. A special thanks to Yasmin, you are a star!

The first floor looks ok, but the elevator was worn and dirty, as was the carpet on the second floor. Our room was not ready at check-in time and we had to wait 20 minutes. It was not bad because a man who tried to check in before us was told to wait three hours. During our stay the room was not cleaned due to COVID! But we were given a trash bag so we could clean the room ourselves. The staff was not properly trained for hotels, but this could be Holiday Inn specific. They always try to make you feel how great their favor is by answering your silly questions. The swimming pool should have been booked in advance, but this rule didn't work for weekends because of weekends! Based on the 5-star range, IMHO, this is two honest stars. Poor people who gave this hotel 5 stars, where have you stayed before and where did you come from?! 😢

Stayed at this hotel last year. Such wonderful staff - very helpful and friendly! Decent size pool although could be cleaner. Rooms/bathrooms/dining area were all really clean. Breakfast was lovely, a good variety of food available. It was a lovely break, we all really enjoyed our stay including the kids. Good location for exploring the city.

My family and I stayed here last Friday during Stirm Eunice on route to London. Easy to access off M4. Rooms spacious beds comfy we were below ground floor so no view to speak off and there was an odd smell dispelled somewhat when windows opened. The Health Centre was in poor general condition around the pool in particular. Stronger odour there. But reception area spacious and light with modern decor. Best of all was the food served by the restaurant excellent and good value also the Welsh lager on tap👍 Restaurant staff very helpful and pleasant too

Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfortable room. Air conditioning was a little noisy but bearable. Breakfast was standard, nice and hot / fresh, we paid £6 per person. Property is a little older, needs updating / maintenance. Pool water was murky, just about see the bottom of the pool - could not see the other person at other end of a 10m pool (best guess for its size). EV charging available on site.

On arrival we were told rather curtly that we didn't have a reservation while we were trying to show the receptionist our proof, I was told to put my car registration in otherwise i will be charged a parking fee. With no apology forthcoming we were then told we were staying for two days then told us our room number, but still no apology. We were happy with our room that was to a high standard, our stay and breakfasts. The hotel has a fantastic location and allows you to access all areas and directions quickly. There is a swimming pool which you can use but you need to book as there are quite a lot of children swim parties. I do recommend this hotel.

East to find, staff friendly, rooms not so good, food and drink very over priced. Booked for a family of 4 with 2 kids (15M & 12F) walked in to room to find 2 double beds. In what world would you expect teenage kids to share bed???? Shocked that holiday inn found it acceptable. The room required redecorating, the pull out bed was as comfortable as a cheese grater and as wide as one to. Also lots of dust around the place and water leaks marks throughout the hotel.

I've stayed in about a dozen holiday inns through work and I must say this is by far the worst. Dreary, drab and in desperate need of money spending. The room was OK, the beds were hard and uncomfortable and the pillows just awful. We chose this place as it boasted a pool and sauna. However, sauna broke. Steam room broke and jacuzzi empty (presumably broke). Pool was warm but needed some serious tlc, as did the decor down there. Never ate here so no comment on the food. Only gets a 2 star as the staff were nice and helpful. Should have stated in the city.

A few small niggles with the room, we were only given 3 towels for 4 of us, the shower temperature knob was broken and kept falling off without barely being touched and there was also a clump of hair under one of the duvets which was a bit gross. The kids used the pool, the changing rooms are very basic and could at least do with a few hooks in/near the showers but they had fun. Breakfast was enjoyed by all with a great selection, the modern reception area looked great. I think a small clear up at the back end of the car park could be beneficial, we pulled up late in the evening and when we went back to the car the following morning there were lots of screws in the back spaces (thankfully we were lucky and had none in our tyres) plus a few of the end spaces couldn't be used due to over grown shrubs and loads of mud. Great for a stopover, obviously a bit noisy being next to the busy road but you know that when booking.

Location easy to find off M4. Easy access into Cardiff. Food and service of a high standard. Nice small pool, sauna, steam room and gym. Use this hotel on average 4 times a year. Staff are all polite and approachable, very helpful. Large carpark with disabled bays but no policing of non blue badge holders using them

Holiday Inn Cardiff North was absolutely fantastic. Above and beyond! My new husband and I stayed here after we got married and our other hotel let us down(!). The Holiday Inn staff were so welcoming and friendly. Our room was spotless and very spacious and we couldn't hear the M4 when the windows were closed. We stayed during a heatwave but it was not a problem because our room had Air Conditioning. The restaurant and bar were also great, meaning we didn't need to drive into Cardiff City centre each day. The hotel wasn't too far from town either, about 20 minutes' drive, or else we could have taken a bus (there's a bus stop right outside) or taxi. Also, this hotel is really near Castle Coch which you can walk to, and is a wonderful day out. Overall, I would recommend the Holiday Inn for a clean, comfortable and welcoming hotel near the city centre.

We came down to stay for a competition in Sophia Gardens and stayed slightly out of the city. Which was a great choice. Very quite hotel, rooms were clean, staff was very helpful and breakfast was amazing in comparison to some of the holiday inn's up north...

Very nice hotel with a great Gym and Spa. During my business trip I loved the food and their menu. With the clubroom package I made use of the pool and gym and was pleasantly surprised of the hygiene and extensive amount of different gym equipments.
