An inexpensive hotel for a short getaway. Very friendly staff, clean rooms, brilliant location in the city centre - most major attractions are within walking distance. It's cozy which would be a good thing during cooler months, but I'd definitely look for something with air conditioning for summer, especially with heatwaves present. Smaller rooms get stuffy and even the fan provided doesn't help. It's also possible that echo will carry some of the party noises even if you're not facing the main street, but that's the price for the convenient location.

The Sandringham location is the best, perfectly situated in the heart of everything. The hotel itself is very tired and desperately needs a complete makeover. No lifts, so not suitable for anyone with walking issues. But the beds clean and comfy and staff and service are amazing, they can't do enough for you. Breakfast great.

Great hotel that’s centrally located; short walking distance to the Cardiff central station, Cardiff National museum, Cardiff castle, the Cardiff market, and all arcades! Enjoyed the coffee and tea with sugar and milk inside the room. Super confortable bed and it’s amazingly quiet room in a busy area! The only downside is that there’s no lift, and traveling with a big luggage is not fun. The lady at the reception was very kind helping me with the luggage.

I stayed at this property during Easter holidays. This place is right at the heart of the city. Cardiff castle is visible from the property entrance. The staff is very courteous and made us very comfortable. The property is old but gives a rustic feeling. All the amenities are nearby. This is perfect for a lazy couple staying over a weekend. Highly recommended!

For the price it is perfect. Very comfy bed and clean. The place is a bit outdated but that adds to the charm. Great location and friendly greeting on arrival. Walls were a bit thin, but had no trouble sleeping and sound from the street was minimal. Would definitely book again.

Was supposed to travel to Cardiff but plans cancelled at the last minute. The hotel owners and staff were very bery accommodating about the last minute request. They didn’t give me any fuss even if I troubled them, very polite and respectful. Needless to say, when I do go to Cardiff, I know where to stay for sure. Thank you!

The lady on reception was so helpful couldn't get more helpful it was the French lady. The hotel is very old fashioned and needs major overhaul. Our room wasn't very clean dust all over the walls stains on walls and curtains. Bedding was really cleanand towels

The perfect location in the city center, great arrival with lovely service from Alison, rooms remind me of my Nans house in that they're a little dated but also possibly the cleanest hotel I've stayed in. If you're on the top floor it's as far as a spoons toilet but they do provide little signs telling you how many calories you've burnt so makes you feel a little bit better. Huge bath. We will definitely look at booking here again

More than basic economy class hotel with an amazing, and a very polite staff. Clean rooms to perfection. Very good location. You can't complain, if you pay around £40 per night.

I had to leave a review as the service received from Simon was second to none . He replied to emails promptly, was kind and understanding to our needs and was helpful beyond expectations. Truly - if you value fantastic service - then I highly recommend Simon and this hotel . Exceptional service .

Dear Simon, Alison and staff, Thank you so much for your hospitality at the weekend. We had a wonderful stay at your hotel. The friendliness, atmosphere, professionalism and breakfasts were all first class. Home from home! We very much hope that you can help us book again for any future stays in Cardiff whether it be a rugby weekend or anything else. All the very best Gerry (304), Alan (205) & Harry (305) 3rd - 5th February

A lovely comfortable stay with the kids last night. Beds so comfortable I didn't want to leave. Rooms do need a little TLC but it adds to the charm. I will definitely be visiting again but booking direct with the hotel as other online vendors are overcharging beyond silliness which may put others off. Staff were so friendly and genuinely cared, I felt safe. Thank you. See you again.

Lovely stay at the Sandringham, staff were lovely, travelled a lot for work and never met such nice hotel staff. Would deffo come back if I come to Cardiff again. Location is so central and was a humid night but room was comfortable with the fan and window open (not too loud). Can’t fault for the price. Thank you!

Beautifully atmospheric hotel. One of the few in Cardiff with any sense of mystery. Lovely clean rooms. Jolly, patient staff. Brilliant central location. Cheap as chips and twice as tasty.

This is the my personal opinion. So don't judge... The room was booked as no-cancellation for saving money reason (never had issues with it), but this time... Beside the feedbacks are good. Realised there is no parking for visitors. If you driving, keep in the mind, that parking near charge £25 for 24 hrs. To have price reduction you can pay £5 at the reception to get the code to redeem, so in the machine you pay £15. Other wise hotel is convenient for city break.

I booked this hotel simply because of the location and wasn't expecting too much as it was really cheap. But it EXCEEDED expectations. The staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was comfortable and the location is brilliant. I'll definitely book again when I'm in Cardiff for the night.

Family run hotel, basic but the staff make the place feel like a Palace. Location is excellent for everything in Cardiff. So good we've booked again .

It was an awesome stay overall. The staff are friendly, location is amazing. They have iron and ironing boards at the room, which was a lovely surprise for me. One thing is they dont provide slippers, it is maybe supplied upon asking but I didnt. Would be good if you can bring your own. The smell of the room and corridors was lovely as well.

The Sandringham Hotel is situated in the heart of Cardiff. We were going to see a gig at St Davids hall and it was a stones throw away which was perfect. If you are doing anything in Cardiff this is an ideal location. We met Alison and Ruth and they are a credit to this family run establishment. We would go back again for their friendliness and great service, we were made to made to feel so welcome. There were night porters on in the evening who were also very friendly. We felt safe there,as you had to buzz to get in. There's no lift, and you have to walk up a flight of stairs to get to reception, but we were on the same floor as reception so this was very handy. Just beware if you have issues with steps then this may not be for you. We were told it may be noisy on an evening, but we were okay with this as I had my earplugs. Actually for a main city centre street, it wasnt that noisy. In fact we slept really well, the room was really dark and the bed was really comfortable. The bathrooms could do with updating, but they were clean and perfect for what we needed. This hotel offered what we needed and we will definitely be returning for the friendliness and breakfast alone. Thankyou very much making us so welcome. See you soon, hopefully.

It was a very nice little trip to Cardiff and this hotel was simply the best it's in the heart of the city everything you need is around! The room was quiet at night, (weekday) it was pretty huge with a big bathroom and bathtub too so for the price you don't have to hesitate twice before making a reservation ! Also the staff was so so so lovely with their customers really loved that 🌷

It's a bit dated inside but it is very clean, the rooms are a great size and comfy, the staff are friendly and no problem for extra milk etc if you need it. The location is absolutely spot on for the centre of town, train station etc. worth brining some ear plugs as it is right in town and will be a little noisy. Well worth the money though, have stayed here a few times.

I had a great stay here. The hotel and the rooms are not luxurious by any means, but this is more than accounted for in the price. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. The WiFi is also very fast, which I did not expect given the price. If you’re looking for a solid, centrally located hotel in Cardiff, definitely consider the Cardiff Sandringham Hotel!

I received a warm welcome from reception who were also helpful throughout my stay, my room had everything in i needed, plenty of storage space, a comfy bed, nice en suite, tea and coffee making. The room offered good value for money and was a good place to base my 3 day trip in. the hotel is right in the heart of the city just a short walk from Cardiff Central train station and coach station. This was the first time staying here but it wont be the last, i visit Cardiff once a year to see family and this will be my new base

My wife and I stayed for a Xmas shopping trip for one night. Checked in early, receptionist was so helpful and cheerful. Hotel and room was nice and clean in a great location. Rooms are a bit dated but have everything, plenty of tea and coffee, a decent bathroom and as I said clean bed and towels. It's not The Ritz but they don't charge Ritz prices. We'd happily stay here again in this clean and friendly hotel. Thanks, Sian and Rylan

This a great hotel, it’s ideal for a one or two night stay. Although the decor is old fashioned, the beds are very comfortable, the linen was crisp and clean and the water was hot. The room included tea and coffee making and the staff were so friendly.

My only criticism is the rooms are small. But that aside, the location is superb and the reception staff are friendly and welcoming. Great base for a weekend in Cardiff. Highly recommend 😊

The bed was comfortable, but music coming from nightclub next door kept me awake till 2.30 am, so couldn't sleep. The breakfast was good, but tea was very strong.

Not the worst hotel I've stayed in but not the best either. Room was very nice until we had pumping music until gone 1am (on a Tuesday morning) and we had to be up early... Staff were all very polite and helpful, and Yes I'd stay again...but will take ear muffs!!

Last minute booking, just needed a night's sleep really. On a tight budget so reserved a single room for 05/09/21. On arrival, I was actually given keys to room 204, a twin room and probably more than double the size of the single. Toilet was a little wobbly, but for the price I can't really complain. I read negative reviews about the noise which are valid but expected being in the very centre of town, other hotels in this locality have the same issue. I do think you have to manage your expectations if you are staying somewhere this central. Staff were also very pleasant.

Clean, tidy and well run. Very convenient for the centre of Cardiff. Very good value for money. Could probably do with a refurb but would then much more expensive and lose it's 'faulty towers' charm

Stayed for just 2 nights in room 205 and I can say that the hotel is definitely a value for money. I can see that they are putting an effort to make our stay as good as possible and Alison was always helpful. Bear in mind that there is no lift which was fine for me, and as this is in the very centre of the city, which is an excellent location, it can obviously get a bit loud, but nothing that kept me up at night during my stay. The room was clean and had everything I needed. I would personally recommend it.

Located in the middle of town but it was very quiet and I slept well. Room was lovely and clean and so were the towels and bedding . Coffee facility there too. Customer service was excellent. I didn't ask if there was a lift and was okay climbing the stairs which were not steep. Value at £45 .Only around the corner from St David's theatre if you're going to see a concert.

Excellent location and room has everything you need. Value for money. Very spacious, tea and coffee supplies (always happy to see that!) and 24 hour reception staff who were all really lovely and helpful. If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room away from the high Street (if possible) as the hotel is right next to a karaoke bar. People were singing until just gone midnight (on a weeknight!) - not a problem for me but can understand it may be for others. Fan, trouser press and hairdryer in the room. TV and all other fixtures worked fine. Cooked breakfast available on request. Plenty of power outlets and free wifi. Bathroom super clean. Less than 10 min walk from the castle, St David's shopping centre and St David's Hall if you're attending a performance. Not sure if they have a lift and there is almost a flight of steps up to reception so worth bearing in mind for accessibility. Book direct with the hotel if you can. They are a family business competing with the usual hotel chains.

Clean, perfect location and for price you can't fault it .bed was comfy with fresh bedding and towels .water was hot so can't complain coffee and tea facilities in the room with a biscuit and hot chocolate .sweet touch Receptionists went out of her way to make our stay great . All the staff was friendly and helpful. My husband went to race and they kept our luggage till after the race ..He was able to come back and have a hot shower to get out of his race clothes .I think that it is over and above the norm ..when back in Cardiff will definitely come back x Keep up the great work

Stayed for two nights booked on price as we left it late to book. Did not realise there is no lift so you need to be reasonably fit as your met by stairs as soon as entering the building. The whole place needs complete redecorating it’s like going back in time reminded us of the late 1970’s. The room was clean but very old fashioned furniture and bed coverings. The bathroom was very basic with a shower over the bath which was almost hopeless in fact i decided just to have a quick wash and wait to shower in the next hotel we were booked in. The plus points of this hotel is the staff are very friendly and the location is bang in the city centre so for bars, restaurants and sightseeing it’s great. There’s an old saying you get what you pay for and this is true of this hotel.

Brilliant hotel located in the middle of all the night-time action. Booked directly with hotel and Simon couldn't do enough for me. Always back to email questions promptly. We were a group of 10 lads on a 20 year college reunion and this hotel couldn't have worked out better for us. Simple breakfast was also served but with a great big smile. Keep up the great work and will definitely book again if we are back in Cardiff.

Myself, my husband and our 12 year old daughter stayed here 14th May 2022, to watch a show at the motorpoint. it is family run and you really get that feel from them too. We were greeted by Alison ( I believe it was ) with a lovely, friendly smile and hello. She was so generally lovely, very helpful indeed, super friendly and welcoming. I would like to thank her so much for making our stay so extra special for us, with the bottle of champagne and breakfast she so kindly added as we told her it was our anniversary that day and it was my 40th birthday the day before. All the staff were friendly and helpful too. The breakfast was delicious and the staff were lovely too. Great price, clean & tidy, beds are so so comfy. I loved the fact they kept the original decor and personally I like the traditional feel. So this made me love it more. Thank you again for our stay, we hope to see you soon! When we goto Cardiff again this will be a 1st choice and we will be booking again. I highly recommend this hotel for lots of reasons. Its in the perfect location and walking distance to city centre, shops, restaurants etc.

Great location a 5 minute walk or so from the train station, high street, shops, restaurants and bars. A old family run business with a old vibe! Descent price. Only downfall is that the bars are right outside the hotel so by about midnight ish you will hear people chattering..But overall if ever in Cardiff again would stay again for the location.

Great hotel, lovely staff. Right in the centre. A bit noisy some evenings but only to be expected for such a central location. The night staff were very accommodating, daughter had food delivered so was on her own at main door and the gentleman kept an eye and made sure she was ok whilst down there.
