Absolutely superb, very good value for money, staff were all super friendly, especially Fiona, had a cold pint of beer and a pizza for £6, you can't go wrong. Plenty of parking. Does exactly what it says on the tin, cheap, no frills accommodation. Shower was powerful and hot. Would definitely stay again.

It is a budget hotel. I would not recommend anyone with experience of premiere inn or travel lodge because I would say they are 5 star in comparison. We booked here for hospital appointment. Checked in at 6pm and out at 6.30pm. The good Parking is amazing and staff are pleasant. The bad Very small and stuffy. Toilet and shower is tiny, beds are like camp bed size not single. No phone signal, no WiFi, no window. Don't waste your 35.00 we paid. Ended up paying for another hotel so won't make that mistake again. Did not feel safe there because of noisy rowdy work men who were probably in digs there. Not for lone women.

Lots of parking, usual a que at 3pm to check in ! Great location, easy access to the city or out and about. Morrison in a 5 minutes walk for breakfast. You can bring in your own takeaway and eat in the communal area. The rooms are compact and adjustable to suit you. If your in Cardiff and off out for the night then it's perfect or a quick stopover. The staff are helpful, I like it. Thumbs up 👍🏻

Super comfy & super efficient. Stayed here on the final night of a Welsh Road trip and it was our best hotel stay. Beds were exceptionally comfy (2 singles pushed together but that's fine with us). Room is small but has all you need including a good shower. No windows but the lighting is good. Communal area really modern and clean and staff were very friendly. Would defo return. Note - if you want a hot drink bring your own mug and sachets to use the hot water tap in the lobby. Otherwise looking at £2.50 per coffee in the morning

Great location. Fab price for a perfectly good room. Hot shower. Nice linen and quirky design . Like being in a large space pod with a TV. I have stopped 3 times now . £2 on the bus into city. Drop of by motor point arena. They have a bar and cafe on site. I take a travel kettle but you can get drinks there. Why would you stop anywhere else ?

Stayed here for a night as a stopover to Swansea. I thought the room was really good value for the price paid. No kettle in room but has a hot water tap downstairs by the reception. No window but air conditioning worked well. The only issue I had was the shower, it wouldn’t go where I wanted it to be and kept facing the wall due to the rigid hose. I would stay here again for a stopover.

Great concept. Our room had a light box rather than a window, but that didn't matter. Everything else you need, clean, compact and close to a regular bus into town. Beds too firm for me and wasn't keen on having the toilet separate to the shower (I understand not all pods are like this). On the whole, great value for money and the staff were so good too.

Fantastic concept! Spotlessly clean room with everything you need. Wish it was a little closer to town but buses and taxis in full supply. Staff were lovely. Would definitely Zip again.

I stayed here years back on the opening weekend, everything was spotless and looked good. returning a few years later i found that the upkeep was pretty poor. the shower doors felt like they were going to fall off, there was thick dust under the sink which was obvious to the eye when using the toilet. the metal around the top outside of the bathroom had obvious signs of corrosion, the glass door had a chip in it. we had 2 rooms booked for single occupancy, one was set up as a double and the other a single, poor uniformity in the set up. all that being said, the price cant be beaten, the staff were very friendly and the rooms overall were good for what you would expect. it just seems that they aren't kept to the same standard as the rest of the PI brand.

Fantastic if you know what to expect! For £20 per night this was a dream. We knew what to expect going into it: a room without a window that we only wanted to use to sleep. However, it exceeded expectation for us. The bed was very comfortable, the artificial window was natural and made the room light, the bathroom facilities were great, the room was clean and smelled good, there was reliable AC, plenty of surfaces for our belongings, and there was free wifi on the first floor which was a tad slow but fine to message people etc. It was quiet, the staff were sweet, and there was ample parking for free. We were really pleased overall. It felt like a cruise ship cabin! 😂

Stay was amazing for the price. The staff were very kind and helpful. Rooms are well designed, comfortable, not massively spacious but completely understand that for the price. The only criticism I really have is the plug placement on the headboard between the beds. It makes it hard to put certain plugs there if they have a bulky beginning after the plug head.

Hidden away location made it quiet and private. Our room was great and the air con effective 👌 which was great as it was still very warm. Update: Our second stay and cooler weather we've had a very relaxing stay, just what we needed 😊 Enjoyed the bacon baps and drink offer for breakfast 🥓 ☕ £3.95 👍

Brilliant for a few nights. Funky rooms with great touches especially the changeable light colour settings, great shower, beds & TV, air con was great. Value was brilliant, beats Travelodge any day and I wish there was more ZIPS's! Rooms feel 'ship cabin' as no windows (well I didn't!) but made no difference to me. Nice and quiet too

Such great accommodation for a cheap price. Spotlessly clean. The rooms reminded me of a (large) ship cabin. Think they are soundproof as I heard no other guests. Ample parking, powerful shower. Coffee available downstairs, and Morrisons is in walking distance if you fancy a cooked breakfast. Really loved it and I hope they open more across the country

We were told check in was at 2pm but then upon arrival we were told that check in was 4pm. We asked if they could store our bags while we waited but they said no so we had nowhere to put our bags. The staff were also very rude, chatting amongst themselves about how people keep getting the check in wrong, even though it stated clearly on the website that it was 2pm check in. Also it displays a breakfast option in the lounge but when you ask for food there is no option to eat. It is also in the middle of nowhere so you have to fork out more if you’re getting taxis. You think the cheap price makes it worth while but I’d rather pay top prices for good service than go back to this hotel ever again!

It was a good stay, me and my friend had booked this room for the rugby. The gentleman who served us was very welcoming, however when we first arrived at the hotel to drop our bags off like it said we could in the email we were met with evil eyes and rudeness. We didn’t let it bother us as we too work in stressful work sectors. However whenever we went downstairs to use the vending machines the eyes were definitely still on us and laughing followed. The room itself was okay, it had a strange smell like pasta and the toilet roll was pretty much out. The beds were clean and the shower definitely had power which was good. I recommend this hotel if you’re not spending time in the hotel as we simply just felt judged, and out of place

A useful place to stay. The staff were helpful and courteous. The room was good and clean, I just found it a bit 'airless' as I'm used to sleeping with an open window. It was nice to have a bar and lounge area, which I didn't expect. The breakfast, though simple, was good.

Stay away!! Full of council homeless people... you have to pay loads of hidden areas, only 1 pillow given extra £3 per pillow. £10 to have your room cleaned!! Costs for towels etc etc. No kettle or coffee jn rooms, bad chav manager and staff... rooms are not clean stained carpets, WiFi useless even if u pay for ultimate WiFi cuts out. Really need avoid this place

Small Japanese style " Love Pods". Immaculately clean. But so small. Funky colour change headboard. Interesting. To use at a push. Nothing to enjoy.

Would definitely be returning again! amazing staff, good service, the rooms were clean. really enjoyed having a laugh with Adam, lloyd and Fiona, I got given a birthday present and a warm welcoming every time we’d come back to the hotel after a heavy night out lol

It's designed to be a budget hotel so the rooms are basic but they are clean and big enough. excellent value. Free parking. Friendly staff. Right next to a nature/woodland walk. Budget hotel done right. We need more ZIPs across the country.

Was a little skeptical going in as my partner is a big chap and the preview photos online make the beds look flimsy, but we were VERY pleasantly surprised at just how robust and comfortable they were. It's actually mind blowing how good the quality was for what you're paying. If there were more of these Zip hotels, I think I'd always rather go to one of them over a normal Premier Inn. You don't sacrifice much comfort at all for the price you pay! Was also happy that the room was nice and quiet, considering how many drunk people were arriving back in taxis following a night out in the city center. The food and drink options are superb value as well. Genuinely can't fault this place. It's just so so good and I can't wait for them to expand and see more locations pop up in the future!!

Spent a few days here. I thought it offered amazing value for money. Great concept and really enjoyed the rooms. Staff were great, very helpful and hospitable. A great, relaxing experience with a lazy vibe. We were able to bring a take-away in and a beer to drink in reception and everyone was very accepting. Didn't feel like the whole place was about rules and regs which made a nice change. Clientele we're all very respectful of one another and there were no idiots to put up with. On the bus route to town and cheap via Uber and we walked to City road which wasn't far at all. Internet access could have been better but other than that, excellent

We have just arrived back home after a 3 night stay at the Cardiff zip hotel, we booked 3 rooms for a grown up family of 5. We knew what the rooms were going to be like and took the time to find out what was and wasn't included before we booked. The rooms were clean and the bedding clean and fresh, the shower and toilet were more than adequate with lovely instant hot water. The TV was a good size and fine for a bit of viewing before bed, plenty of plug sockets for charging phones or other items, free basic wi fi is available if you sign into it. We used the hangers for coats and jackets. The air con was welcome as the rooms were warm. In other hotels we have stayed in without exception the doors slam but didn't have a problem here and generally got a good night's sleep. I found the bed a bit on the firm side but that is personal preference. For £35 per night per room you really can't complain if you want a 5 star hotel with all the facilities then pay the price and look elsewhere but for us this was perfect as a base to use as an exploring long weekend away. It's about 14 mins into the centre of Cardiff depending on traffic, supermarkets very nearby as is 2 retail parks. Nearest Wetherspoons is only 8 mins away, Toby carvery 10 mins both great for breakfast, dinner etc. Penarth is 20 mins and has some lovely eating places. If I had to pick up on one thing it would be that a hand towel would be good to use in the bathroom instead of having to use bath towels to wipe hands. We would recommend and stay again. 🙂

Walked in, walked out. Tiny rooms with windows looking into eachother. Staff just shrugged when I said I wanted to check out and that it's not what I expected. Really annoyed considering I use Premier Inn 95% of the time.. definitely won't touch a ZIP hotel again.

The Riverfront Retreat Lodge was a peaceful sanctuary by the river's edge. The soothing sound of flowing water and the surrounding nature created a sense of tranquility. Our lodge room was cozy, and we could watch the river from our window. The lodge staff were gracious and provided great recommendations for riverside activities. This is a place where the river weaves its tales.

Hotel was brilliant. This hotel is great value for money. Cool concept, although we didn’t have window they have mood panels with different colours that you can set. Hotel is easy to get to. Room was small but practical and had everything you need to stay. It was clean, I had good night sleep. Check out easy. Free car park. Friendly staff 👌🏻 Reasonable priced drinks and food. Will stay there again.

Still a great budget place to stay and have been using Zip since it opened - although it is out of town centre, given the price and you get onsite parking included in the cost it is hard to argue with. Even with an Uber or a bus ride on top into Cardiff centre it is still cheaper than anything in town I have found bar a hostel! Rooms are a little basic, but quiet, clean and well maintained. Staff here are abosolutely stellar too, really attentive and friendly.

Lloyd you're fantastic and made me feel I was at the Ritz! Very clean room, lovely staff. I will be booking again and I really hope I have the pleasure of seeing Lloyd!!! Thank you so much! Also to anyone staying there, there is a nature reserve right there you can have a walk. Car park is a bit tricky! Just go in and drive to the back where you'll find Zips reception.

Great spot if you’re working in Cardiff. Loads of parking I love the rooms, I always have a great night sleep. They don’t have any windows, maybe that’s why The air con is bloody fantastic

This concept is a disaster to me. The room was like a prison cell - much smaller than how it looks in photos. Definitely not suitable for 2 people, as we needed to take turns to use the space next to the bed to change our clothes for example. The toilet is no bigger than this of a budget airline plane. you have to pay extra for any service including clean towels. The location is super inconvenient without a car - not sure why a budget traveller would be assumed to have a car. The nearest bus station is 10 mins away through a street of car garages and warehouses, so getting in and out was a burden. We asked for a double bed, so they gave us two single matresses pushed together, and of course the outer one kept moving apart so sleeping wasn't comfortable especially with the single paper-thin pillow they provided each of us (you pay for an extra pillow). We got a room with a window, but the window was completely tinted so we couldn't see anything outside. Other than that, the staff were nice and helpful, they gave us glasses to use in the room since the room didn't have any tools to use. They would also give us hot water upon request at no extra cost. They also play sports games on a large screen in the lobby/cafe and serve reasonably priced drinks. If I go back in time, I'd definitely pay a little extra to book elsewhere.

I've stayed here many times now. It's a perfect lil place to use as a pitstop. The rooms are just what you need, shower, toilet, TV, beds (2 singles that can come together or move apart easy). There's a bar/ food bit downstairs in the lobby. I cant fault this place, always use it when visiting home :)

  • 4/5 Angie G. 7 months ago on Google
£62 for a night, served a purpose as taking daughter to uni, but its very small and compact, beds aren't the most comfortable and you only get one pillow, and a towel, any extra's are either £5 or £10 per thing, extra pillow etc, we got there 45min early and wanted to book in early, but they wanted to charge an extra £10 so we waited. Its in the David Lloyd fitness car park so plenty of secure parking, 10min out of Cardiff itself, but a no.50 bus is £2 or taxi is around £10/12, you get the 50 bus back on castle street....which is the road by the castle. Zip has a bar and 24hr reception, its all very clean, perfect for a quick stop. Shower/toilet room us compact it is within the room with frosted glass doors....so unless your close/good mates its a little awkward and embarrassing using the loo😳🤣 but there are toilets down stairs if needed.

The room and service were okay only that there is need for improvement in the area of service. Apparently, I was assisted with microwave to warm some of my food but this was later cancelled. I would like to plead for consideration from the management to set up a kind of central place where there will be electric kettle and microwave to use as some of us as students, come from a far place like London to lodge in the hotel and we usually come with some kind of food which will be needed to warm and make some coffee too. Your consideration on this matter would be highly appreciated. Thanks

My brother stayed here a few years ago and said how impressed he was. He was right, this place is a gem, friendly, helpful staff, spotlessly clean reception area and room, with the price being amazing value for money at £48!!

  • 4/5 Ben C. 2 years ago on Google
Cheap, clean and friendly. Some rooms have no window but ambient lighting instead. Not an issue if you're looking for somewhere to put your head down on a budget. A quick taxi ride from Cardiff centre. Around £10 for a taxi during the day and £20 at peak evening/weekend times which is excellent if you're visiting one of the many arenas or stadiums for an event.

Loved this hotel and concept when it first opened, but here now and have to say its not great. Reception staff are OK, but we're both outside smoking when I went to ask for help, no replacement towels or toilet roll, I had to ask, no grab and go (even a sign saying no coffee), carpets in hallways aren't hoovered well and there was old sheets and towels left out all day, my room wasn't clean despite having a clean protect hanger on the door, dust has been there for weeks, maybe months, and I had no confidence the room was clean as they promise. Overall, disappointing visit this time.

  • 2/5 Joe L. 2 years ago on Google
I mean, you get what you pay for. Rooms are tiny and the bar/breakfast bar is basically always empty/unattended. But for ~£30 pp a night what can you really expect. To be fair though, the place was clean and tidy, and the beds were reasonably comfy

  • 5/5 Stephanie J. 2 years ago on Google
Stayed here about 6/7 times. We absolutely love it. The customer service is second to none. One gentleman especially stands out here Rooms are equipped with what we need for a night's stay and the price is perfect. The food and drinks are well priced too. Quirky little hotel that has become a favourite of ours!

Exactly what we expected, compact, modern and clean room. All the mod cons in the room and very well set up. Very comfy bed and good service from the staff. Would definitely stay again.

  • 5/5 Neil P. 2 years ago on Google
Considering this is a no frills hotel, it is absolutely top notch. Staff are brilliant, and the bar is as cheap as a Wetherspoons when it comes to the draft. Oh and a Pizza and a pint for £6...can't grumble at that after a long drive

  • 1/5 Iwan J. 2 years ago on Google
This place is not good even for the relatively reasonable charges. The rooms and bathrooms are tiny. There's no shelf to place your suitcase. You couldn't swing a mouse let alone a cat in the bathroom. How can you have rooms without a window, feels like you're in a submarine. The wifi is so poor you have to upgrade at a cost of £5 per day. And for those without a car it's half a mile to the nearest shop.

Fantastic idea for a budget, stripped down hotel experience. As a place to crash, very functional. Can't be faulted for the price, food is limited but good. You get what you pay for! Will definitely stay here again.

Rooms are cheap and have everything you would need in a hotel room. Room was clean and the beds were comfy. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend for a 1 night or really short term stay. I do find it odd they only give single duvets even if you ask for a double, although, I guess that's how they save money and make the hotel even cheaper.

  • 4/5 Chris R. 1 year ago on Google
Can't grumble for the price. Was generally clean and the staff were very friendly. Beds were very military style comfort but I got close to 12hrs kip so it's ok for me some may find them slightly hard. Was a very basic room/pod but was probably worth more than what you pay so all in all a good stay.

  • 5/5 Ali A. 1 year ago on Google
I was a little hesitant at first, but was amazed a the quality of accommodation for the price paid! The room was clean, well lit and comfortable. The en-suite facilities were great too! Will definitely stay again thd next time I'm in Cardiff.

24.95 For bed and breakfast in 2023 !! wow ! Room and bathroom just about big enough and spotlessly clean, and a very powerful shower, once I got used to not having a window enjoyed a couple of hours watching tv in the evening, great nights sleep though single bed is a little narrow, I took a travel kettle to make a brew, as there is a limited menu they are quite happy for you to have your own food in the very spacious lounge / bar area. had a vegetarian sausage bap and tea for breakfast which was excellent. service at reception very good, so highly recommended

  • 5/5 Richard M. 2 years ago on Google
Fantastic value at £27. Stayed in this hotel on a Friday night out in Cardiff. The room was spotless, bed comfortable, the shower was hot and powerful, and I had a lovely quiet night sleep. The staff were very polite and helpful. A shame the kitchen wasn't open for breakfast, but their website did say it would be closed which is why I have not dropped a star. I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic night away, but I highly recommend it for a night out.

We stayed here for a night whilst travelling through to a final location in Cardiff. We were pleasantly surprised by the quaint little room we were given. Whilst compact, it had everything you needed for your stay. Large shelves and under-bed storage were perfect for keeping the floor space clear. The bathroom came with all necessary basics, and extras could be purchased cheaply from reception. A hairdryer was loaned out free of charge which was brilliant. In the morning we had a breakfast roll and drink for £3.99 - absolute bargain and really tasty! There was also free fruit to help yourself too. Only minor negatives of this stay were; the bed was rather hard and gave me a very stiff back in the morning, and the window in our room backed onto another room who’s occupants kept turning the light on and off in the early hours of the morning. Unfortunately the blind is not flush to the window, and the light shone in right over our eyes and woke us up quite a few times. Other than that, we had a great stay and would absolutely stay again! I wish there were more of these across the UK!

It's a lovely clean, cheap, modern, no frills hotel that is part of the Premiere Inns family. Fairly spartan rooms that have 2 narrow beds that can be pushed together to make a double. Huge heavy duvets that really keep you warm. Pod like shower, and separate toilet cubicles, although some rooms have shower and toilet combined. Thick bath towel and big pillows nothing else in the room apart from simple hangers and shelves. The rooms are mostly internal with no view outside just a fake window or moodscreen. Almost pitch black with the lighting off which is spooky. Small bar and restaurant area that seems to be open fairly late. Book on line and get room rates as low as £24 a night. Excellent value and service but you need a car as it is fairly remote if you're walking or else get a taxi. I like it a lot. I think we could use a Japanese capsule hotel if one were to open. (There are other budget hotels in Cardiff near the City Centre, but believe me they are really unappealing and the Staff and guests seemed to be local 'low lifes').

Visiting Cardiff and need somewhere to get your head down? Not bothered about frilly extras but like comfort? Give ZIP a go! We were doing a road trip across the country to get as many daft place names as possible, with our midpoint being Cardiff. We decided to get a couple of rooms in ZIP, and were completely blown away by both the concept and the price! Oddly situated in an industrial outskirt of Cardiff itself, and backing on to a gym complex, ZIP looks like a stereotypical 1970s office block from the outside. However, the folks at Premier Inn have worked their magic inside, creating a clean and modern hostel-style arrangement. The long reception bar provides nigh-on 24hr service, with a carefully curated mini menu of snacks and drinks at bargain prices. This is supplemented by active advice to order in from local takeaways - something you'd never find at standard hotels! The main draw of ZIP is that it's somewhere to get your head down in comfort, without any unnecessary extras. The rooms are super modern and have a sort of aeroplane/Star Trek cabin feel to them, with just the essentials but done to a high quality. It's an unusual but really cool concept, and we hope Premier Inn extends the idea to other locations.

Stayed here for two nights on 23rd and 24th of dec 22. Absolutely loved this place and so happy with what I got for such a bargain price. Staff were friendly and polite, food was great too. Room was clean and tidy with a nice en suite that had a good hot shower. Bed was comfy you could have it as a single or put two together to make a double. No outside window but that was fine as I had a colour changing window that was relaxing. Hotel main area was clean and plenty of comfortable chairs and tables. I look forward to coming back to stay again soon!
