It was the most bizarre experience dining here. First when we arrived in the restaurant, our group set up was that there was someone on each end who was sitting facing an empty chair on the other side of the table. Upon enquiry we understood it was a covid measure, however never had any other restaurants requesting such seating arrangements in the past 20 months. We ordered two split pots, a non-spicy broth for one side of the pot and a spicy broth for the other side. The staff came to confirm that we wanted spicy/non-spicy in each pot. Yes, we said. To our shock when the pots came, one pot was spicy/spicy on both side, and the other was non-spicy/non-spicy on both sides. This was after the staff had came by to confirm that we wanted a spicy/non-spicy set-up, and in the usual situation a person wanting a spicy broth would not have asked for a split pot. We raised this to the staff and were clearly unhappy about it, though did not insist on having the broths changed around. What happened next made it the most awkward and uncomfortable dining experience ever. From where we were sitting, we could hear the owner reprimanding the staff for the error, throughout our meal. We understand mistakes occur and if the owner was unhappy about the mistake and genuinely wanted to apologise, taking the initiative to change the broth to the right setup, or a complimentary drink or dish would have gone a long way. But no, he chose to reprimand the staff within our hearing for the whole dinner (which didn't help the situation one bit and made the experience worse!). We felt sorry for the staff. Even with the hospitality shortage, that was a completely wrong way to help the staff improve, nor help retain them in the long run. I don't remember anything about the food, although photos did show a good range to choose from. At the end of the meal we each received a box of hello panda, which might have helped, if not for the fact they were expired. All in all, would not recommend.

Amazing birthday meal. The team made us feel really welcome and explained the concept to us. We chose two broth bases, a platter of meat, noodles and veggies to cook at the table and some super fluffy bao buns too. Everything was really flavourful and delicious. Have been meaning to visit for ages and it didn't disappoint. Delicious food, really friendly and helpful customer service. Talked us through how the food worked and gave recommendations, the broth and sides were delicious. Gave us a signed goody bag of sweets and snacks on the way out, very kind. Will be back soon

This is definitely something different if you’re looking to try a new food experience. You order your choice of broths (I had a spicy one and the satay which I would recommend). You then order the food ingredients you’d like to cook in the broth form noodles, vegetables, meat and fish. I tried the mixed trays of noodles and veggies to have a good mixture of the food and then a meat option. This ended being way more than enough for two people. Everything was so delicious cooked in the broth it was flavour heaven. The staff were very polite and helpful, they explained the menu and how to cook everything. Hotpot also had a good variety of cocktails and other drinks on the menu. I will definitely be going back to sample more of the menu!

Me and my friends enjoyed the food, service and the atmosphere to the fullest. They took our booking at the last hour for 8 of us which was really kind of them to do so. The mala broth and tom yum broth was amazingly delicious. All the vegetables and meat were fresh and delicious. They have option for vegetarian and vegan which was very helpful. And also all the staff were very nice and friendly as well. Would definitely recommend to everyone to have Chinese hotpot here. While leaving we got a gift bag with a note on it which is so sweet of them. Everything was 10/10.

Had great hotpot here. A bit expensive, but totally worth it. Highly recommend coming here if you've never had hotpot before or you want to have it again!

Great concept to share with a group of you. The service was excellent! We were even given a complimentary bottle of sake from the owner, which was so kind. There were only two things that could have been better, in my opinion... the first would be to serve the meatballs fresh rather than frozen. The second thing would be to have some music playing to create a better atmosphere. I would definitely recommend and return.

Ate here for the first time tonight and it was our one year anniversary! It was a fabulous evening with brilliant food! My girlfriend is veggie and it was really good to be able to have two separate broths and such a range of tofus and veg! We loved the hands on aspect of it - it was a very fun date and the food was delicious- the perfect hangover cure! The waitress was so lovely, explained everything really well and was super chatty! We loved the little touches for our anniversary - made it extra special and was so thoughtful of you guys! We will definitely be back next time we are in Cardiff! This hidden gem is absolutely amazing. Authentic and the staff were amazing from start to finish. Everything was explained really well the chef came out to check if we wanted more broths. Everything tasted great well priced and alot of options They couldn't have been more helpful. A really lovely experience and we will deffinatly be back. Only recommendation would be to have more sauces at the sauce bar

I have been to this restaurant with family few days before the new year eve. Even though the shop was closed during the festive period but the owner generously allowed us to visit his shop for a dinner. Honestly, we were experienced a fantastic vegetarian hotpot food. I loved the variety of vegan options especially the tofu and noodles. I’m from Malaysia and this was my first delicious Hotpot experience outside my county.

Amazing!! We tried this place for the first time last week and it was so good that I need to go back asap. Everything was well explained and the broths were the tastiest. You can choose fish, veg or meat platters and then some extras. Everything cooks so well in the broths. Staff were really friendly and so caring. When we left, they gave us some Chinese sweet treats as a thanks. Will go back in a heartbeat.

Couldn't recommend Hot Pot highly enough! We were served by truly lovely staff members that patiently explained how everything worked and we were made to feel right at home. Put food arrived quickly and was presented beautifully. I was even offered a phone charger for our table! Top quality resteraunt and a real gem 💎 👏

So happy they have brought this idea to Cardiff and South Wales. Now I no longer need to travel to the West Midlands for this hotpot style cuisine. The food was absolutely amazing and full of flavour, the hotpot flavours contained richness and fresh ingredients throughout. The setting was fantastic and staff helpful and kind. I would definitely recommend anyone to try this place out. It has halal options and is also fairly priced. I went all out to try everything!

Had a great time dining here. As far as I know it’s the only Szechuan hot pot restaurant in Cardiff, and well worth seeking out. Food was lovely and plentiful! Service great, and a hand written thank you note & treat bag to boot! Very thoughtful. Will definitely be back, and have recommend to others.

Just had a Chinese hotpot lunch, our first ever. Staff were really helpful, food was fresh, on the table quickly and the fun of creating your own meal on the table is a good experience. Tastes amazing. Definitely going back. Sent us away with a gift bag too 😀

Fantastic Hotpot Spot! Super tasty broths, large selection of meats, vegetables and carbs (I wish they had rice cakes though) Nice atmosphere inside and very friendly staff!! 100% bring your friends.

We had a wonderful meal here, very lovely host and a unique experience. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Cardiff for something different. The hot pot broths were very flavoursome and authentic. A nice personal touch was a small gift bag with little sweets to take away!

Had a great experience overalls! We have been looking for a great hotpot place and glad we tried it here. The tom yum and Filipino and ginger broth was very tasteful! And the meats had flavour also. Definitely going back!

this place is very good! my friend and i have never had hotpot before, and the waitress gave us an explanation once we sat down. they played good music and the food was absolutely amazing; we bought a set tray of meat and a set tray of noodles since we were unsure of which ones to order- would definitely recommend the meatballs 😂 we also ordered some mushrooms and asian cabbage and it all tasted very very good. there were a few rude customers that the staff dealt with very very well, and when we started to leave we were stopped to be given a cute goodie bag of asian sweets!! will definitely be coming here again :)

been wanting to try hotpot for a while and this was a worthwhile experience, staff were helpful and friendly. food was delicious. we ordered custard buns and one came without the filling (we know that this is not a staff issue, more of a production issue) and staff were quick to replace when the issue was highlighted to them, an unexpected bag of treats at the end as well! we’ll definitely be back soon!

Excellent food and service, we had a great time here and I would certainly recommend. It was my first time enjoying Hotpot and a great introduction for anyone curious about Chinese Hotpot. My fiance is Chinese and she found it to be very authentic and tasty. Also, very friendly and attentive staff, thank you!

Very delicious meal, we had the lamb neck broth and chicken broth with noodles, veg, and meat to go with. Everything was incredibly tasty. Especially recommend the lamb neck broth with beef. They also ask how spicy you want your broth between 0-5, ingenious to really personalise the food. Hospitality was really friendly and welcoming, even passing me a fork when I was clearly struggling with the chopsticks which was very funny and appreciated because I very much needed it. Unexpectedly they also gave us a thank you bag when we left with chocolates/sweets (which we are very grateful for, thank you). I absolutely recommend this place.

Had the best evening for my daughters 16th birthday. The staff are just lovely, kind, helpful and friendly. The food was great, such a unique and different dining experience and great fun. Can't wait to go back. Thank you all so much for making our visit so memorable xxx

the food was really delicious and the staff were lovely!! tonnes of vegetarian and vegan options and the spice levels are adjustable. they play a great selection of cpop and kpop! we mentioned in our reservation that it was our anniversary and they accommodated us with a quiet table and were really lovely for our special day. definitely recommend to anyone and will be coming again :)

Visited tonight for the first time, definitely won't be the last! Warm welcome, and everything was explained well. The hotpot was fab, coconut broth was delicious and the spicy one was tasty. Special mention to the freshly made belt noodles, they were great and the spring onion pancakes were wow! Really enjoyed it and can't wait to come back!

We had always wanted to try and omg we are so glad we did! The staff were do friendly and so helpful! The food...hot damn it was sublime! So amazing we just kept ordering! We will certainly come again! And upon leaving they gave us a thank you for coming goodie bag!

Had such a good time the other day at Hot Pot Spot. We’d walked past it a few times meaning to go in, and my only regret is not doing so instantly! I never normally write reviews, but it’s just so rare that a place manages to nail their service, quality and aesthetic all in one, but hot pot spot certainly got it! Incredibly friendly people working there, I could have stayed chatting all evening..and the broths, are SO damn good, with an authentic atmosphere. Such a good job with the place and I’m already planning my next visit :) see you soon!
