Pub itself is nice, besides wobbly tables and a very low hanging lampshade which we bumped our heads on a few times ! Lovely beer garden and kids play area. The app didn't work so we had to order at the bar. Food seems expensive for what it was. Prawn cocktail only had lettuce, no tomato or cucumber etc , other starters were missing dips. Our steaks were fine if not a little dry and again missing dips with the surf and turf. Additional steak sauces we ordered took a long time to arrive. Servers were friendly, kitchen inconsistent.

Had a great time here. My girlfriend is gluten intolerant and I was really impressed with the gluten free menu. She had a lot of choice which is very unusual. We both had a burger and the food was great, with good size portions. Also the staff were very friendly and helpful

Lovely place for lunch. Staff are lovely and friendly and the food delicious 😋. I had the Sirloin Steak special today and my steak was beautifully cooked and the beef dripping sauce is gorgeous. Really lovely place with dedicated staff and friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend 10 out of 10.

The Cardiff Diabetes UK Cymru group had their Christmas Dinner at the Fox and Hounds, Whitchurch. All the meals were well presented, hot and very tasty. The staff were excellent, the service was quick but not intrusive and nothing was too much trouble. The group's members would like to thank all the staff for making it a great night.

The tables were dirty, and these could have been ready as we had pre booked. There was a limited menu if you have any dietary requirements. I had to settle for a meal that was not my first choice(or even 3rd choice) as everything else I could eat was not available. When my meal arrived it was a tiny portion of vegan chilli in a bowl, accompanied with dried rice and a handful of stale doritis... very dissapointing for the cost. I will not be visiting again or recommend to anyone.

On March 7th twelve of us dropped in for one of our frequent lunches here. The menu offers a good variety and, despite catering for a large function at the same time, our meals were all well-cooked and presented. The interesting decor and usual pleasant service combined to make this another enjoyable experience. We'll be back!

An excellent lunch for 12 of us - service was lovely, dishes for each course all served at the same time, piping hot and very tasty, nothing was too much trouble and we had a great time. This is an incredible improvement on our last visits a few years ago - in fact we had stopped going to the Fox as the food became so awful. Now we are planning our next group outing! From the moment we arrived, we were made to feel welcome. Our ordering of meals via the QR code on our menu was easy and our food then came promptly. One of our party received the wrong food, however, our server apologised and got this sorted straight away, she was very helpful! The food was lovely, very tasty and good value for money. We will definitely be returning

We were looking for a pub that did a good solid Sunday lunch with a range of veggie options and a choice to keep a picky eater kid happy too! The menu did not disappoint - so much choice and huge portions of sunday lunch. The roast potatoes were the best I think I have ever eaten - so fluffy inside. The staff were very accommodating in bringing my daughter a Yorkshire pudding on it's own plate untainted by gravy! The waiting staff were attentive and prompt and brought extra gravy for us when we asked. We were also pleasantly surprised that it was dog friendly and all the staff were so helpful and lovely. We will definitely be back.

A really nice pub with plenty of space. There was no wait at the bar and the barman was polite and friendly too. The car parks big and free. They serve a nice pint and the food is better than you would get in a weatherspoons. I will definitely visit again.

The staff are very friendly and helpful, good choice on the menu especially the childrens menu and reasonably priced. The childrens play area is nice and tidy and it’s nice that it is dog friendly. Food is always very nice and arrives quickly

We recently enjoyed a very pleasant lunch with friends with whom we used to work. The food was excellent, and the portions were too large for some! We will be returning soon.

Bit dismayed on arrival that they had no record of our booking on their system, although I'd booked online and had text and email confirmations, all correct. Luckily, there were tables free. Then had very good, pleasant service from all staf. Nice atmosphere, food was OK, nothing special but nothing wrong with it either, standard pub meal. Good 30% off voucher made it a good deal, and they were very helpful re the £5 for 2 drinks offer too. Would return.

Celebrated our friend's birthday here. Staff were lovely and friendly and the service was quick. They didn't rush to ask us to vacate our table after our meal and were accommodating with the birthday cake. Nice atmosphere too.

Very busy there with a church choir having a pint before singing next door and also the added attraction of 30% off main meals. Despite the large numbers there, the staff were extremely efficient and happy in their job. The beer was very good and mixed grill cooked to my liking. The chips were On the cool dude but therefore quickly changed by the manager so no wait. A very enjoyable night and I'm sure the staff slept very well after all their hard work.

A busy pub, on a Wed evening, but having experienced their service & food I can understand why. Our waiter was Brett & his customer service throughout was friendly & helpful. A return visit (I don't live in Cardiff) is definitely on the cards 😊

Very nice food and atmosphere. I did have to park five minutes away though but I don’t think you can do much about extending the car park. The food quality was excellent and the portion size was generous. Even though it was busy I did not wait long for my food and didn’t wait too long at the bar. Would like to go again, hopefully when it’s a little less busy.

Following a critical email to the brewery 2022 (quality of the beer related, not the pub per se) I feel it only fair to compliment the staff (and management) on the quality of the customer service. It is friendly and refreshing this day and age and is particularly welcome with the age gap (being in my 70's) and to have younger staff members engage in casual conversation even for a short time while being served is just great. Lovely atmosphere, the best gammon I’ve ever eaten, absolutely delicious. My husband had cod and said the batter was great and the fish tasted very fresh. Will definitely return to have the gammon again.

Delicious food and they coped very well with the large party of people we were with, they had options for all dietary needs and Kayleigh who served as was amazing with the special needs member of the group and patiently took her time with him for his order. They were outstanding. I must say that the nachos are to die for. The landlord was very attentive and the whole team took their time to make sure we were enjoying our evening.

A very welcoming and friendly atmosphere - perfect for a sunny Sunday, especially for families. There is a little children's playground at the back garden. The staff provided fantastic services, and the food was great.

A friendly lunch stop The Fox and Hounds in Whitchurch is a local pub with a very comfortable feel which serves food. I visited for lunch and was really pleased with the selection and quality of the food. It was simple fare but perfectly presented. I started with Double cheese nachos which is made of Tortilla chips with melted Welsh Cheddar topped with American-style cheese sauce, soured cream and tomato salsa. The chips were crisp, and the two cheeses offered a pleasant alternative to each other. The salsa had a nice sharpness and the cream provided a cooling flavour – overall not bad at all. For mains I had scampi which were served with chips, mushy peas, tartare sauce and dressed salad leaves, I added a side of onion rings – This was a simple dish but was perfect for a snack. I would have preferred more chips and peas but understand that at prices as reasonable as these the small portions are to be expected. A simple but tasty meal for which I was grateful.

The food was ample, well cooked, well presented and served reasonably quickly after we ordered. Lovely large cups of latte coffee and very pleasant staff.

Asked for my steak to be medium well and it was severely undercooked. My friend had a burger but they'd ran out of buns so he ended up with a bunless burger. I raised the steak with a member of staff who just said ill let the chef know. No apology or anything else. £12.10 for a steak I couldn't eat. Not Impressed. Thought it would have been much better given the other glowing reviews
