Dropping in to the Six Bells for the first time, whilst on a walk, we weren't expecting a meal like we had, it was superb! Staff were also great...we will be back!

Excellent service and great food. Stopped here for food on the way to taking my daughter to the airport, we asked how long the wait would be as we had to get to the airport. The bar man quickly went to the kitchen and confirmed that they were able to get our food to us in plenty of time to make the flight. Food arrived very quickly and was delicious. Recommended.

We found this place today on the off chance and wow, we loved it! So cosy and warm with the fire. The food was incredible, and really well presented. The ladies serving couldn't do enough for us, super friendly and chatty. They welcomed my dog and they all made a fuss of him and gave him treats and water ❤️. We will definitely be coming back here for food while we explore the surrounding area with the church and castle next to it.

I'm from the States and stayed near the airport before heading out the next morning. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to try the food (it sounds amazing), but the atmosphere was phenomenal and the hospitality (both by management and locals) was incredible. Great beer and spirits! I would definitely make this a stop if you are in the area!

Had a really lovely spontaneous lunch here on a criminally quiet Saturday lunchtime. The staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and the food was brilliant. We were expecting hearty pub grub from the feel of the place but were blown away. Best of both worlds, hearty portions, great prices, restaurant quality food. Put up some more photos of your food! It's worth showing off!

The food here was lovely as were staff but I have recently discovered that they hosted an event with Cruella Braverman. Please don't associate yourselves with ghouls.

Great local pub with great food . Found the pub via Google and Trip Adviser, so booked a table for two and took a short drive up to the pub. Food was really good and we had the option of eating it in the pub or the set dining area. Portions are quite big! My main which was a chicken burger was so big i wish i did not order a starter. I would give this place 5 stars. A local gem!

We popped in on the off chance we could have Sunday dinner, Pat the owner and the bar/waiting staff we really accommodating and squeezed us in. The Sunday dinner was amazing and left us feeling really full. The staff and owner were really welcoming and made us feel at home. Lovely clean pub and so nice to have a real fire in the bar area. Really can’t fault this local pub and we are back today with my parents for a meal.

We booked in for Sunday lunch in early October 2023 for 5 very hungry adults. It was an amazing meal all round first class with plenty of meat and veg, etc, for us all and the desserts we had where also first class with plenty on the plate as well. Drinks also very reasonable prices but we where blown away by the quality of produce cooking and service provided to us all while there so I nearly dropped off my chair when the bill came as it worked out at £25 a head 😀 including the food and drinks. We had 2 rounds of them, too. We will be back for more very soon as we care due back in the area in November.

Lovely hidden gem. Went for lunch on a Friday and received a warm welcome. Food was top notch, generous portion and exceptional value. Chips were the best I have ever had. Would have been 5 stars for sure but puddings arrived barely lukewarm, landlady had a pleasant no fuss manner in sorting this out. unfortunately, the 2nd lot were warmer but still not properly hot (and were lacking the pretty plate dressing). That said, both were generous & delicious and we would recommend and will definitely be back.

Had our staff Christmas party here for the 2nd year. Although there was 25 of us all our food was outstanding.... very hot & well presented. Plenty of fresh veg & the cauliflower cheese was just amazing. Pat & all the staff are very experienced. Thank you for another fabulous night.

Wow what an experience. we have just celebrated our golden wedding anniversary with a party. Everything was first class, lovely welcoming atmosphere, splendid buffet. I can thoroughly recommend coming here. We have eaten here many many times and it just keeps getting better. Thank you Pat and your team

We were invited to take a seat in the bar with our trainee guide dog. We decided against the menu choice in favour of the specials board. Service was nicely paced and the food was delicious. Picture is of my garlic mushrooms on chia batts. This was followed by liver and onions on mash: 10/10

Wow! What a fantastic meal from the Christmas menu. If you want great food, come here. If you want hearty portions, come here. If you want great value, come here. If you want a warm and friendly atmosphere, come here. Pat and her team will give you a great experience. Give it a go.

Great pub, delightful food and very friendly staff. Will certainly be back. It's round the corner from Cardiff airport so make it a stop if you've got airport business. Fresh local ingredients and a great selection of beers. Highly recommended.

Food was absolutely amazing, starters was just too good to not have them. We had croquette and deep fried Brie and it was out this world. Then I had pork Sunday roast and it was a very good large portion with good selection of vegetables and a big Yorkshire pudding(best part lol) Highly recommend food portion make sure you’re about happily full. Will definitely be coming back here more.

We’ve been meaning to come here for awhile because we heard great things about the chef and we’re so pleased that we did! We had a faultless Sunday lunch, all tasty, hot and plentiful. Staff are lovely, the atmosphere was relaxed and the food & drinks spot on. A big thanks to James and his team, we look forward to returning soon.

FURTHER UPDATE: THIS PUB HAS REOPENED UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT!!! HURRAH!!! UPDATE: SADLY, THIS PLACE HAS CLOSED. Shocked and stunned by the quality on offer here, especially a seafood linguine packed with mussels, scallops, prawns both large and small, samphire and even fish roe in a cream sauce. Coleslaw accompanying a no-bun burger boasted a welcome hint of lime. These cheaper mains are £15; Glamorgan brewery ales on tap; we were absolutely stuffed. A cut above the norm—why was it empty at 1:45 on a Saturday afternoon though?

My god! At my age I’ve eaten a lot & must say this was the absolute best tasting burger 🍔 I’ve ever had (wife agreed with me 🥰😇) was also privileged to try a new dessert that’s going on the menu very soon!! Bannoffee - just look at the photos & imagine a taste sensation 😍

Lovely Pub in the Village of Penmark, the Dining Room is very modern with a lovely welcoming Log Fire and the Staff Greetings were to be recommended. Shame after such a warm greeting that this establishment whilst having all the hallmarks of producing a Great Standard of Service,, simply did not deliver, both in Service and Menu. Having selected our meals and been served our Main Meal, once eaten we could have walked out without anyone noticing, staff really took there eye of the ball here whilst everything else in the restaurant had a more urgent priority. The Main Meals scored really well, 4 of us dined here and in fairness everything was good to go. I had the Sirloin Med Rare which was delicious, but I was not quite sure why it was served with Half a Burnt Onion ? Perhaps that is an idea to far ? Desert Menu was for us a complete non starter, the lack of choice and poor selection was obvious and no Cheese Board was offered which would have made up for the poor choices. If you do as I did and order the ice cream be prepared as it was 2 tiny eye balls of ice cream served in a child's dish, no trimmings, nothing ! not even a choc or raspberry sauce or a wafer !!! Finally who serves Capuccino without Chocolate Sprinkles, it really ended up tasting like a Flat White Coffee. Would we return, maybe, but not to sure it would be on a Saturday evening and not until they had a New Desert Menu. Could be 5 stars all day long, with a couple of tweaks and some staff training. We came for a family meal on a Thursday evening and was not disappointed. The food an service was excellent. The waiter we had was a young guy and was super friendly and helpful and really attentive. The food was incredible we had for starters - Brie, pate, scotch egg and beef and ale croquettes all delicious. Mains were lamb, steak, burgers and the chicken Madeira again all insane chicken especially as I never choose chicken on a menu will always go for beef or lamb but the chicken was sooo good. We will 100% be returning and can’t wait to try the desserts too. Hidden gem !!!
