Whenever i meet up with friends for breakfast, we always come here. Thought I'd try the large brekkie this time and I wasn't disappointed. It was just under £6 and you get a drink with that also. Food wasn't greasy, really nice breakfast. Staff are friendly, nice atmosphere and it's nice clean too.

Absolutely stunning! Afternoon tea for 5 of us. Sandwiches were lovely and fresh and very tasty and the cakes were so nice! Service was perfect! Staff are happy to be there and really enjoy their jobs and this shows with the level of service given to every customer there. I'd definitely recommend this afternoon tea to everyone it's the best we've had and we've been to a lot of places. Thank you so much you gave us a wonderful afternoon 😊

I really liked this public house. The city itself is struggling like most other cities, but places like Potters are thriving and giving hope to the city and its people. The pub is a mix of a drinkers and Family pub. Familys and characters mix together giving a sense of togetherness,fun and tolerance, I also get the feeling the city itself is doing the same. It's incredibly clean,with oak floorboards throughout and plenty of large TV screens,music playing and polite bar staff, and a great pint of IPA. The venue has a Large food menu which seemed popular with lunchtime guests,breakfast is served from 9am and I am going to return and post pictures of the breakfast and give a star rating for the food. Newport should be a stop over Hub for travellers travelling the M4 corridor and this certainly venue is better than any services I have used,no disrespect to services of course.

Good breakfast at a great price with a large glass of orange juice included. It was really busy so I would recommend getting in early. The atmoshere was great and the staff were friendly.

Well... I'm stoked at the heated seat on the roof terrace! Came here on a cold wintery evening and made our way to the roof terrace and there's a HEATED SEAT so it was warm and cosy. The roof terrace is great. I've also been here in the summer and the terrace is gorge. Had a roast dinner here too in the past, big meal, quite nice. Nice selection of gin. Great cheesy music!

For someone who has lived in Newport for 10 years, until the Xmas party I had never set foot in Potters (we drop the 'The' less words to stumble over when tipsy) amazing atmosphere and from a certain time only 25 years and over allowed in the place!!! The food was fab, 3 course Xmas meal for about £20. Drinks are not included, but reasonable pricing is all the same. The only downside was the trek to the toilet. We went through a private party to climb two flights of stairs. Toilet door and a person was a cramp fit! Serving staff were lovely and up for a game of who had what meal. Other than that, a fab night had by all. Totally recommend and have been informed that the terrace in the summer is the place to be. So, I will need to pencil that in for 2024!!!

Food here is of a high standard except for baked potatoes which we have had pre cooked and stale. I've given up on them but my cousin had another bad one today. How hard is it to get a baked potato right. Hopefully this will bring the issue to the owner's attention. Great pub otherwise ❤

Sunday Roast - I had heard that this was the best Sunday roast in Newport. I can only agree - we had Roast Beef - it was hot, tender and delicious. The gravy was home made, which you could tell both from the taste and look. Very very good, we will be back for more !

We were in Newport recently and happened to be passing and looking for somewhere to eat.We are vegetarians and there were plenty of choices on the menu.A lovely pub.Good atmosphere,friendly service.Huge inside and clearly really popular as it was bustling for a late monday afternoon.I had the sweet potato,spinach & feta lasagne which came with salad and chips and was delicious.Great value for money too.They have an awesome rooftop bar here.Cant wait to come back when its warmer and try it out.Well worth a visit.

Sunday Dinner for me is 5 stars. Top compliments to the chef/cook. Vinny and most of the staff are friendly and just really lovely people who make you feel really welcome. Drinks are a bit pricey but your in town so to be expected I suppose.

If your sick and tired of waiting in the queue on the rare busy Saturday, don't fret! If you're a pretty girl, you can skip to the front apparently, god forbid anyone aged 18-20 queue like the rest of us :) the bouncers did this a few times, for the pretty girls only though. Oh, and if your mates, apparently the bouncers 'whisper' go around the side entrance to their friends - cute. The same side entrance.

Friendly, efficient and professional service provided. Food is exceptional with large portions. Excellent value! Clean, tidy with a good atmosphere for all age groups. Will definitely visit here when back in Newport 😊.

Have always enjoyed coming here but today they exceeded themselves .. after a lovely walk we decided to pop in for a pint . The Terrace is a great place to chill with a cold one . As we walked in the smell of roast dinner and mint sauce was Devine.. so we decide to see if we could get a table . Even though they were exceptionally busy and we hadn’t booked and it’s Fathers Day they manage to get us a table .. before ordering we were told they were extremely busy and would appreciate us being patient for our food which actually came within a very reasonable amount of time piping hot and delicious. Prices are very reasonable and they even had our favourite white wine . The staff are polite and busy and can’t do enough for you . Highly recommend potters . Huge thanks to the host who made this all possible . It’s evident you love your job and thoroughly good at it . Enjoyable unplanned afternoon ! Thank you :-)

Lovely Sunday roast with family (9 in total). Excellent friendly and attentive customer service. Good sized portion of meat and nut roast along with nicely cooked vegetables. The one minor wish was if they had child cutlery, for my grand nephew not me, but I understand it's not their main focus. A great experience and will be back.

Food great but service very slow! 20 minutes from sitting down to being served for drinks - after we'd asked to be served! Then 45 minutes inbetween starter and main course. Not sure why we had such poor service as people were coming in after us and being served their main courses within 15 minutes.

Incredible service once again from The Potters 🥰❤️ We took 12 of our SEN students out after book shopping in town to buy a hot drink and a snack! INCREDIBLE service from the staff, the children all felt so comfortable and really enjoyed their visit! Lovely food and hot drinks, even the teachers couldn’t resist! 😉 We have already decided to return again soon! From our school, a massive thank you to the staff who were so helpful, jokey and patient with our students. Cannot recommend enough! Thank you to Enz, Vicky, Alice, Jess & Nadine!

Went for afternoon tea today and it was one of the best we've had anywhere. The food was fresh and filling and the staff were friendly and attentive. We have had main meals there in the past and they, too, have been lovely and even when there was a crowd of us every meal was hot, well cooked and well presented.

Food is lovely pub grub- steak and ale pie is the best I’ve had anywhere. Drinks on tap and wine don’t taste the best, but that’s probably for the best else I’d be there every week for food and beer!

Nice pub, only stopped in for a quick drink so can't comment on food but the place looks nice and is clean, and there is a nice terrace with pleasant view - seems like it would be good for a night out!

Brilliant breakfast, crispy hash browns, nice thick bacon. Love the decor in this pub and the rooftop terrace is lush! Staff are great always attentive and friendly. Great prices with a discount currently I believe on the entire menu

Great service off the waiter's/waitress. My friend and I enjoyed our Sunday dinner,I had the vege dinner which was good and she had turkey dinner she enjoyed too.

Lovely place with fabulous Sunday lunch. Three choices of roast with a vegan option of nut roast as well. You definitely get your money's worth here with great service and a lovely clean venue. The staff are very pleasant and friendly. We will definitely be visiting again. I recommend booking as it is popular and you wouldn't want to be disappointed if they didn't have space.

A great bar. Reasonably priced drinks, great service and at the weekends on the rooftop bar there is a dj who plays absolute bangers. Great atmosphere every time I have been there too. The only negative I can think of is the rooftop bar is cash only but that’s about it. A great night out.

Great roof terrace, very friendly staff. Excellent night out. Even better in the mornings. Tremendous breakfast both quality of food and cost as good a pub breakfast as I've had anywhere. Highly recommended.

Large bar well attended with live music every Friday and Saturday. Rooftop ter very busy. Good selection of drinks at an acceptable price range. Food also served.

Very nice drinking venue. Food is decent. Can get crowded around the downstairs bar. Very popular place to drink so seating is hard if you turn up later in the evening.

Just had a Sunday lunch. Would highly recommend it. So much food. All came out piping hot even though we were a large group. You have to book though as its so popular. Service was excellent. Would definitely go back again

We popped in to have a lunch on a whim leaving Newport on our way to Cardiff and were Wowed by the service and the quality of food. The choice was great and left very satisfied. Can't recommend this place enough. Especially for the pigs in blankets and roast beef. If we lived closer, we'd be back sooner.

Fantastic cooked breakfast. The large breakfast is plenty big enough and reasonably priced. Latte or a sensible size orange juice are add on costs but the overall cost was still OK. Very busy (unsurprisingly!) so service took 25mins but we were warned when we ordered and the food was worth the wait.

My first time here to have food. Was recommended this place by friends and family on numerous occasions. Staff are very nice here. Nothing is any trouble. Food is exceptionally nice. The prices are fab for the city centre of Newport. This place exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend. Definitely coming back soon. Nice restaurant area which is nice and modern.

Stayed in the Mercure hotel for the Scotland rugby match. We loved Potters which is situated across the road. I speak for all the Scots in our party. We found the food excellent on every occasion with the staff warm & friendly. It was like a home from home!!! Also the afternoon & evening entertainment was top notch. Special mention for Cathy who served us breakfast. Very much recommend this bar when in Newport 👍

Shame on the bouncer working the door Saturday night for not allowing myself and a friend from entering due to my friends cargo trousers looking ‘like work trousers’ (mystified). Seeing the thrill in his eyes was tragic and sad to see that that’s how he gets his kicks. The Pod and Tiny Rebel were far better. Needless to say I won’t be coming back.
