Usually order the strawberry gateau. The cakes are very fluffy! Very light and not too dense. On top of that, i find that the cake isn’t too sweet either. With the Strawberry Gateau in particular, the sponge and cream inside the layers isn’t too sweet so it balances nicely with the sweetness of the strawberry on top :) Only complaint is that the cake offer used to be 4 slices for £10 and now it’s gone up to 4 slices for £12 :(

Only just opened on Queen Street, this full sized version of Patisserie Valerie, has comfortable seating, a fuller menu than the small branch in St David's arcade. It's bright clean and spacious, very keen staff (although most are new and learning the ropes at the time of my visit). Overall, a great edition to this end of town

Serves meals as well as cakes. We popped in for cake and drinks. I thought it was expensive. Cold feeling. No warmth from staff. I stood there 2 pay as I did not want to wait at table to pay and I got ignored by the 3 members of staff. Took ages for our order to come over which was confusing as so simple and it wasn't packed there. Before we arrived a table devoid of people was littered with remnants of a cream tea and stayed like it even though staff member walked by several times. It was there as we left. Toilets left a lot to be desired. Broken flush buttons and dust everywhere which was quite thick on handbag shelf😝 I will go elsewhere in future 😐

Nice place and reasonably good service. Service was attentive but could be a bit faster - waiting for order to be taken was quite long same with waiting for the bill. Food like always in regards to cakes you know what you get - quality taste and fresh food. We enjoyed it and overall would recommend.

The strawberry cake was delicious (although slightly overpriced) However, the staff weren’t very welcoming at all. The man who served us told me very harshly to stop moving the cup when he put it down on the table, which I thought was quite rude. And when my friend went to have a look at the display of cakes, he kept telling her to take a seat. Nice place but unfriendly service!

Poor and slow service not what I expect when I pay Patisserie Valerie prices. Walked in with quite a few dirty tables and only 2 members of staff on both trying to serve clean up etc. Ordered coffee and breakfast after 10 minutes with no sign of the coffee even being made I walked out. It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to work out you have one person on the front making coffee’s dishing out pastries etc and another tidying and serving main dishes. Another member of staff would be beneficial also.

Been here twice - both times they didn’t have things in stock! First time it was most of the pastries from the right side of the menu. The place wasn’t very busy but the girl seemed so stressed and rushed off her feet, she messed up my coffee order. Second time, they don’t have lids for takeaway coffees. Maybe tell customers before you serve it to them?! Not a fan... But the cakes they DO have are nice.

I went here with a few friends for cake and coffee. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The cheesecake I ate was wonderful. I also bought a birthday cake for my friend and everyone loved it. We will be coming here again the next time I go shopping in the city centre.

Visited the Queen St store today for afternoon tea. While the coffee and food was fine, the treatment of an elderly lady by staff ruined the experience. She came in with her grandsons with a voucher for afternoon tea expiry date 08/19 clearly printed on it. The assistant took the voucher and then returned saying it had expired! This was clearly not the case. The lady asked if they could ring to validate it, but they said no! The lady was embarrassed and had to leave. The voucher clearly said 08/19, she looked upset. What a con beware of vouchers... The staff didn't care. I can't help but think if it was someone younger who could hold their own, they wouldn't have taken advantage. DISGUSTING!!

I have never had such rude and ignorant service in an establishment, not from just one staff member but from the majority. After receiving vouchers from a mobile app to get a hot drink and cake, we were ready to enjoy our lunch break at a well-known patisserie, how wrong were we. After telling the member of staff at the till what we would like to order (the place was empty), he still asked multiple times while serving and proceeded to tell us we had to have a takeaway box. We naturally thought eating outside would be acceptable as it wasn't very busy (being midweek). However, after sitting outside after a few minutes where there were quite a few empty tables, a female member of staff (clearly not a manager) told us to leave as we could not sit there, even with their own goods. When questioned why, she rolled her eyes and walked off in a strop to the counter where all of the other staff members stood and stared. Although, the coffee and cakes were acceptable (6 out of 10) the service was not and it was extremely unwelcoming, especially when they are trying to promote their business. It’s safe to say I would not spend money here and would not recommend their business to anyone in Cardiff Queen Street.

5 star food and service. Ana, Ewa, Ryad and Lasma are a credit to the company and made our Christmas Eve very special. The festive afternoon tea was delicious. The scones are the best I’ve ever tasted and their caramel latte is super creamy. The cupcakes melt in your mouth too. The location is perfect and the decor is very beautiful. We had a wonderful time and can’t wait to return. Highly recommended and great value for money.
