What a gem! Have not seen anything like this in the UK before. The caves were stunning. Gorgeous surroundings and a lovely stop. Adults tickets are Β£8. Coffee, cakes, sausage rolls and pasties available from the cafe. Made our day! Highly recommended.

This was a really surprising find. We live nearby but hadn't heard of this place even though we have visited Caldicot many times. The actual entrance sign isn't easy to spot so we did drive past and had to turn around. Once inside there is a large car park and everything is well signposted. Staff are really friendly and helpful and there is a useful map as without it we would have missed a large part of the gardens. The paths take you through the grottoes and water gardens and they are very different and certainly aimed at making gardens fun for all the family. Our grand daughter loved the fairy houses and it really did get her imagination going. After the grottoes there are the main gardens to explore with some lovely benches and viewing areas to take in the panorama and reflections. To finish off there is a cafe with lots of picnic tables and lovely cakes! All in all we spent a lovely couple of hours wandering round at our own pace. The entrance cost was decent and when we arrived there were only two other families there although it was certainly busier when we left. A unique set of buildings that deserves more awareness and promotion.

This place is fantastic and I really enjoyed visiting this enchanting garden wonder. We were fortunate to get a lovely October day to wander through the amazing gardens. Exploring the underground garden pools and seeing the clever designs was impressive. I will one day revisit with my kids, they will love it.

A magical trip over and underground. We visited this wonderful garden on the last opening day of the year really not expecting much. We were surprised to find a new discovery round every corner. Beautiful plants, wildlife, mature trees, fairies and grottoes. It's a wonderland for adults and children alike. Open up your imagination and let it take flight! A big thank you to the staff who couldn't have been more welcoming and supportive. The small cafe came up trumps and met my allergy needs with scrumptious cake. A truly lovely time had. We will be back even though the garden is nowhere near home.

A lovely and unique little gem of a place. We really enjoyed exploring the beautifully kept gardens and grottoes and were pleasantly surprised at how extensive the grottoes are. Very peaceful as well, with the sound of water running through streams and waterfalls in the majority of the gardens. Loved it.

Lovely day out, with lots to see. There was a little competition running for children to participate in, whilst exploring the gardens and grottos. This is the second time we have visited and we seemed to find things we hadn't seen during our firsts trip. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Fantastic day out, plenty of parking and lots to explore for the kids. There was a power cut when we arrived so only cash payments could being taken, we were told when parking and where a local cash point was if needed, all staff were friendly and helpful. On-site cafe with cakes and ice creams if needed. Some information on the history of the site would be nice.

Dewstow Gardens is a delightful house, garden and grotto located near Caerwent outside Newport, South Wales. There is ample on-grass parking, near which is a cafΓ©, currently with outdoor uncovered and covered trestle table seating. The cafΓ© is serving drinks, cakes and ice cream at the moment with the cakes a particular treat. The garden grounds can be accessed directly, through a stone garden or an amazing underground grotto. The grotto is quite something with a large number of chambers, many pols and fish ponds and ample head-room (thankfully). Visitor-activated lighting is very handy for navigation and the grotto experience is great fun. The stone garden is a sculpted landscape of terrace, flowers of all colours and ponds. A nice explore that leads tot he gardens, a large area of pathways and intricately sculpted ponds. Lovely for walks and to have a picnic if wanted. In these Covid times, masks are requested for the cafΓ© reception and grotto area. If you are in or near the Newport area and looking for a good location to visit then Dewstow Gardens is a good choice.

A real gem among the gardens. In terms of size, it is not the largest, two hours is enough to feast your eyes. The garden has a lot to offer, there are grottos filled with ferns and exotic plants, with streams, cascades and fountains full of fishes, there are also lots of paths around the ponds, a surprises for visitors, in the form of garden architecture, at every corner. The vegetation is diverse, brought from many parts of the world. As for practical information, it is worth adding that there is a tea room, toilet and free car park on site. The access road is well marked with brown signs with a flower.

Beautiful spot, mature trees, neat beds, surprises around every corner, water features, grottoes more interesting than amazing but fun. Nice little tea shop and friendly staff. Worth a stop if passing for an hour or two.

A little bit expensive for what it is, but then most places are these days. Spent two sunny hours here, enjoyed the underground tunnels and relaxed on the grass. Nice place.

Lovely place to visit. A lot of work has been put into the rejuvenation and maintenance of the grotto and gardens. Great to walk through the gardens. A good selection of shrubs and bulbs. There is a tearoom with drinks and food, or you can bring a picnic. The season ticket is a good idea if you are local, as you can pop in throughout the open season.

Beautiful place. If you decide to just walk there you'll constantly find another path that will take you to somewhere beautiful. The staff at the cafe were very nice and helpful. It's now one of my favourite local spots. Oh, yes, their carrot cake is amazing

After many years of living in Caldicot my wife and I decided to visit our local attraction and it was a worthwhile way to spend a couple of hours. Β£8.50 for an adult ticket. Very well maintained water features with colourful flowers with a fun game of exploring searching for items on a list. The house is well maintained but not open to the public. An onsite cafe at the entrance, where we stopped for a refreshment before leaving. Welsh cakes at 20p each, good value.

Wow, never knew this place existed so they need to publicise more. If you're into plants, flowers etc this place is a well worth visit. The underground gardens or grottoes are beautiful. Cafe available on site which serves hand made cakes, tea, coffee etc

Excellent value for money, and kids will love the underground grottos, water caverns, and the fairy challenge adventure. A lovely cafeteria. And an all over wonderful place to chill out on the beautiful lawns and sit near fish filled ponds and waterfalls. The staff are great too πŸ‘ will definitely be back soon without the kids 🀣.

Little hidden gem. Beautiful place, it isn't big but it's magical. Spent couple of hours here including picnic, had ice cream, kids loved it. They were doing a trail when we visited which was fun. Not pram friendly. I dragged the pram around grottos and then turned around and took it back to the car.

The most amazing creation of labyrinths and tunnels. Grandchildren had a great time doing the Gnome and Fairy trail through the gardens. Fab teashop with wonderful home made cakes, staff friendly and attentive. Super covered outdoor seating. A really lovely day out.

To be honest it didn't take long to stroll around these partly restored and re-excavated Victorian gardens but the grottoes were certainly worth a look and there were some very nice borders. I wouldn't recommend this place if you're unsteady on your feet!

Visited here as a family with young children, the staff were friendly and helpful, the walk was beautiful, and the kids loved the trail and the optional goal of completing the activity sheet for a small reward at the end!

Pretty, well maintained place to visit in Caldicot. unfortunately not very pushchair friendly (website does state not wheelchair accessible). Friendly staff, lovely cream teas!

A mixture of hidden grottos with a range of ferns and pools with fish, tunnels, ponds and open gardens. Small but beautifully formed. We thoroughly enjoyed it finishing with a lovely piece of cake and coffee. Hope to visit again later in the year to see the changes. Not suitable for mobility challenged in the fernery and grottos due to stepping stones and steps.

Had a brilliant time for the Halloween trail. My daughter loved it. The grottoes are brilliant and the gardens are gorgeous. Will definitely be visiting again soon

Beautiful gardens and Grottoes. Brilliant place for children and for a picnic! Loads of wildlife! Great for explorers and wildlife enthusiasts. Lots of wasps, mainly around the eating area, on our visit. But not a criticism as obviously this can't be avoided. Be prepared to see a few eight legged creepy crawlies and webs in the Grottoes, but what's to be expected from a cool, damp underground cave really?
