what a great little country spot here in Somerset. i saw the windmill from a distance while driving. as i got near it i saw a place to park. so i pulled in to see the windmill up close. and take a photo. i ended up making some phone calls. writing down some notes and found it a lovely peaceful place to sit. The windmill itself is a picture. with a strange fox chicken symbol on the top. another Someset easter egg. worth seeing

Charming windmill in Somerset. You don’t have to pay an entrance fee but every donation goes to support and upkeep this piece of history. We were greeted by a lovely lady who explained a few things about the mill.

Nice little windmill, which you can visit by climbing steep ladders and see all the mechanics! Free to visit but welcomes donations! Very knowledgable guide is available.

It's just a windmill I hear you say. That's may be true, but this is a 13th century, well preserved and presented, locally staffed ( during the summer weekends) 13th century Windmill that happens to be set in the Somerset countryside near Wedmore in a beautiful spot. A field is attached to the site and is used as a picnic area. There is seating and its wheelchair accessible. Inside you can see the workings of the old mill. I reckon it would still work too if you tried it.

Lovely windmill that is great for sunset shots if you're there for photography. I happened to be passing at just the right time and got lucky!

Beautiful condition windmill build circa 1300s in Chapel Allerton, Somerset, near to Wedmore. There is a small field and picnic area. According to Wikipedia, 'the tower is over 7.5 metres high with stone walls that are 60 cm thick. The sails are 13 m across and used to be covered with canvas. The last millstones were 1.2 m across and the millstones used to grind wheat for flour and beans for cattle food.' You'll not spend hours here, but half hour or so relaxing and enjoy being close to this interesting site.

I routed my cycle ride to see this windmill knowing it would be closed. It was almost at the end of my 100km ride but was worth it for the view and history of this windmill.

A nice historic place to visit nothing else there but if the day had been warmer there is a couple of benches and grass to sit on and have a picnic

A beautifully restored and preserved windmill with gorgeous views over the Somerset countryside. Parking is available in a pull-in just off the road. Access to the windmill is through a gate. Well worth a quick stop to see.

Went and visited purely as it bore my namesake. Wasn't open when I visited as it was out of season although the information board gave me enough to read. Nice small windmill, friendly horses in the next field. If I'm ever back this way in season I'll gladly pay to go inside and take a look

A lovely windmill I discovered by accident. Check locally the opening times. It was closed when I visited but the gate from the small free car park to it was unlocked. You are able to walk around it when the doors of the building are closed. Nice vantage point over the surrounding area. No facilities other than a small car park.

It's empty nearby with great parking. Took the drone up and got some lovely pics and videos. If your in the area pop by and have a look. 20 minuets of your time well spent!

I was camping in Somerset last year and am always on the lookout for windmills, waterfalls and the likes to visit. To my delight this little gem was just up the road. When I arrived there were already a few visitors and the parking / layby was quite small so I waited a little while before I could park properly without blocking anybody in. Inside the grounds there were 2 caretakers talking to visitors about the wind mill's history. I had a little wander around and sat in some shade for a moment before the other visitors left. I was able to take some photos then and was told I was allowed to fly my drone as long as kept within safety regulations. Really glad I visited and would love to see it again either at sunset, sunrise or in different seasons.

Nice windmill to visit out in the country side. Very rarely open for inside access so check this before visiting if you were set on going inside.
