The goods - The tower is old and have historical value - You can climb to the top of the tower for free, the view from top is mesmerizing - The park surrounding that and the Brandon hill all together is so beautiful - Great place for morning and evening walk - Nice place for nature photographers, I found many birds as well as people feeding squirrels Improvements Really nothing I could find that's not good about this place Advice When climbing above, bring a torch and a water bottle. Also be very careful as the stairs are very small and at once only one person can climb up or down.

If you want a great FREE view of the city, climb this tower! It is open from 8am everyday. Depending on the time of year, the earliest it closes is 6:15pm. There are 2 levels you can view from by walking up the narrow stairs. The 2nd staircase is very narrow and steep... so not for the claustrophobic! The garden around is very pretty and there are also lots of cute squirrels to see up close. Enjoy the view!

Cool little place to visit while in Bristol. Panoramic views of the city for free. If visiting do wrap up warm as it’s windy at the top and make sure you have a light as near sunset the stairs can get very dark as there is no light inside. People do pass on the spiral stairs so can be a challenge getting up. It is 100% worth the effort to go to!

After I had a tough climb up the Brandon Hill I discovered that Cabot Tower was closed. The views from there are great as you can get clear views over the city on a great day. It was great walking through Brandon Hill.

Panoramic views of Bristol can be had for free, once you’ve tackled the steps up. The spiral staircase has 108 steps to reach the top viewing platform and it is very narrow and steep. Worth it.

Wonderful views of the city at two different levels, the top level has some info boards with mapped distances to an amazing variety of places. The tower is pretty steep and it's a long way up the hill to get to it, so only attempt if you're up for a hearty hike. Also be aware that the staircase is extremely tight. But it is a wonderful free attraction. Just be aware it closes around dusk!

I grew up coming here and it's one of my favourite locations in the whole of Bristol. Right off the City Centre (up Park Street which is always a challenge!) it proudly stands overlooking much of the beautiful City. When open to the public one can climb for free and have a 360 view of everything, including the City Centre, off towards the surrounding countryside and the river as well, by which sits Brunel's SS Great Britain, another top landmark. Did you known the River Avon has the second largest tidal change in the world? That's what I was told anyway.

Free viewing spot that gives you an excellent view over all of Bristol. It's in Brandon Hill, it's on a steepish hill but it's manageable for most folks. The steps are quite narrow, the first phase is a little wider than a single peron, and is dark until you reach the halfway point where there are a couple viewing spots. Then there's another flight of stairs that are single person only. When you reach the top you are rewarded with an excellent 360° view of Bristol. It can get very windy at the top so be careful. Recommended if you're in the area, the park itself is also nice for a stroll.

Spectacular views from one of the tallest points of the city for free of charge. There's a catch though: you need climb a relatively steep hill and a couple of steps before getting access to these amazing views, but in my opinion, all the efforts are well-worth it. I did not regret and would go back any other time without hesitation.

If you’re looking for a hidden gem in Bristol that blends history, nature, and amazing views, Cabot Tower Park is the place to go. The tower lets you see the city and harbor from a different perspective. The park around it has a peaceful nature reserve, plenty of greenery, and a playground. It’s open every day and free to visit, so anyone can enjoy its benefits. Don’t miss this opportunity to explore Bristol’s past, relax in nature, and admire the beautiful scenery at Cabot Tower Park

Tower is located on a top of a hill, surrounded by beautiful park and great city view. However you need some fitness to climb up, especially if you are with a kid. Parking would be a problem, though there is some at small roads around it. Unfortunately, no public toilets here. Tower is temporary closed. A must see in Bristol, close by walk from the cathedral.

I like this tower a lot because of the view points. You may need stamina to climb up, the staircase is quite narrow and allow one person to pass through at a time. It takes around 5 minutes to climb to the top, but you can also go out in the midway to take some beautiful photos

Easy walk up to the tower and typical tower stairs which really aren't that strenuous. Worth doing if you are a visitor as it gives you a very good view of the Bristol area.

Great sky view of Bristol! The park it is in is beautiful. It does have some tight narrow stairs, so be careful! It also has two levels, so if there are too many people you can always go to the next.

Nice park in central area, next to university. Tower is free to visit with steep tiny stairs. Beautiful views on whole city. You can have some exercise in park workout area with some bars. Squirrels running from tree to tree, and you are still in busy part of the city. That is what I like on English cities. Parks with beautiful grass and trees.

Didn't expect to find this. I highly recommend visiting the park and climbing up to the tower if you're visiting Bristol. Narrow spiral stairs to the top and has two layers to view the city from. You can get nice pictures for yourself. And what I like the most is that it's free!

Amazing view over all of Bristol! Surrounded by gorgeous garden ponds and thin little stone walkways leading up to the tower. You can walk up the tower for free, and I would definitely recommend going at sunset because the view is just spectacular. A very tight helix staircase to the top, but the view is worth it. There are 2 levels you can get out at, so you don't have to go to the top. Between the lower level and the upper level the staircase is even smaller, but the view is much better.

You can go up for free and get a beautiful view of Bristol's landscape and the Park downstairs. Quite high in the park to climb up to the tower but the stairs are okay. Just be careful as the steps are not very swallow. Really enjoyable. Please visit to see the port from up Bristol and the small ponds of the park all at the same time

Great park, small children's play area. Nice gardens. Plenty of benches to sit on and watch the views. Steps up to the top of the tower very steep and narrow. Worth the views when you get there though.

(Translated by Google) A beautiful small park, just wandering around in the silence of the bustle of the city and thousands of tourists, sitting on a bench, you can even hear the birds singing, which you just don’t hear in the city due to the rumble of cars and heaps of people, there’s a tower on the hill alone, like a simple building but something magical mesmerizing! Thank you Bristol for the hospitality!

When you are at the top of the tower you can take a 360° view of the city. The garden and benches at the ground level are best to sit and relax. The place is quite peaceful and lovely.

This is one of my all time favourite places in Bristol. Taking my son up to feed the squirrels is so so much fun and if they are brave enough, they will take the nuts from your hand. Which my son absolutely loves. Not only that, the great views across the city are amazing!! If you are visiting Bristol, Cabot Tower is definitely a must and I highly recommend

Beautiful panoramic view of the city after a tough climb. Quite windy as well, but that’s expected. The second set of stairs right to the top are a bit more narrow and steep than the first set. Definitely take your time when coming down because the steps aren’t quite big enough for everyone’s feet. Also in a nice park! Very well lit at the top. If space allowed, it would be handy to have a bench or two at the top. Also the staircase wasn’t lit (even motion sensor lighting would do!) so it felt a bit more daunting after sunset even though it was only 5pm. Didn’t see any toilets.

Great place to visit as long as you're not too wide of a person, and don't mind tight spaces. Lots of very very narrow stairs to the top, can be hard to pass people coming the other way if it's busy. Well worth visiting for the great view on a clear day, very much recommended.

Visited May 6, 2019: Quite the brisk exercise getting to the place. Climbing up the tower itself can definitely be claustrophobic for some folks out there, basically having one path going up and down, so there's a queue for the most part waiting for one side to finish up. The views at the top, however, are rewarding, each side worth your time. The best of them being the greenery in the immediate area below.

The Cabot Tower is located in Brandon Hill Park. This historical monument was erected to commemorate the travels of John Cabot who sailed from Bristol to Canada. Hopefully the tower will re-open soon, as I've been told that the top of the tower, commands breathtaking views of the city. Hopefully I'll see that on my next visit. In any case one can enjoy the surrounding landscape of Brandon Hill Park.

A free tower climb in the heart of Bristol with stunning views. The steps are a little tiny, use your phone as a torch for the first section, but this is well worth the climb. The first set of stairs are the hardest but just when the fatigue starts to creep, you are at the first lookout. The top platform is a much shorter and well lit stairwell up. The stairwell is a little on the confined side, coming down is very easy - if you have larger feet be sure to walk on the outer edges for the widest step

It's hard to walk to the tower from Bristol cathedral (due to the uphill) and go up the stairs. But it's definitely worth it. The amazing 360 degree view and cool wind relief you in the summer.

You can go up one level from the first tower, so don't be admired and satisfied with the first view. A very nice but not so quiet park on a small hill. Could take a nice walk with a dog or just prefer to sit in the park and have a bite or climb up on Cabot tower to get some nice city view from the top. Or just prefer to sit quietly in the garden amongst the squirrels ? who keep coming towards you expecting a nibble.

Beautiful, free, very special and local. The view towards the tower and from the tower towards the city are just so dreamingly beautiful. I went first time 9am in the morning in a winter but sunny day it was perfect. Many small steep steps to go up, but totally worth it.

  • 4/5 Penn W. 5 years ago on Google
Beautiful view. Absolutely stunning. The trek up the stairs are not for the faint of heart or handicap though. Also you immediately are reminded it's a college town when you have to work your way around young adults smoking cigs, pot and drinking to enjoy the view.

Absolutely beautiful place to visit. A must see. I've lived in bristol my entire life (26 years) and have never visited the tower till today but I will defiantly be going back. The tower is an amazing piece of history for bristol but the landscaping of the grounds around it are phenomenal providing beautiful natural homes for all the wildlife that live there such as squirrels, fish and all sorts of birds. As I said a must see. Make sure you wearing comfortable shoes if your planning on reaching the top because 105 concrete steps would be quite difficult otherwise.

  • 5/5 Graham H. 1 year ago on Google
Best place to take in the whole of Bristol- the best part... it's totally free! Physical fitness is essential though as there are 100+ narrow winding steps to ascend and naturally descend. But the view is very rewarding. Set in Bristols oldest Park, Brandon Hill, the 105ft Victorian red brick tower is open until 9.15pm during the summer months.

  • 5/5 Matthew H. 1 year ago on Google

Dear Lord, my calves were aching after I hath climbed the many steps to the top of this tower. Well, the views from the top are stunning...the pungent miasma of recreation drugs less so. However, there are worse aromas. I used to have a tower named after me too, but alas, I see that has been renamed. Not bitter or anything...

A small tower that you can climb free of charge to have a great panaromic view of Bristol. Mind your step as there are no guards so there might be instances where you will bump into someone midway climbing up to the tower. Fantastic view at the top for photography and chill breeze to enjoy in autumn, absolutely recommend this place.
