A tip in advance. Come after 2 p.m., then the rush of visitors decreases significantly. When we came back around 3 p.m., we didn't even have to queue for the shuttle, and the ticket counters were empty. So, now to the topic. There is something mystical about it. It is without a doubt something special. I said many years ago that I had to see Stonehenge, and I have never regretted it. Thank goodness we have Historical Heritage Membership. Firstly, the car park doesn't cost a fee, the entrance is free and you don't have to queue for hours at the ticket office. The single entrances are really expensive. Nevertheless, you can't miss such an important site. There are also many other things to discover around the visitor centre. Currently, in July 2022, there is a small excavation site for children.

Going to such an iconic landmark on a long weekend, in the middle of the school holidays isnโ€™t for the faint-hearted. But we were determined to give it a shot, having been turned away from the Roman Baths in Bath because they were too busy! Yes, there massive crowds, but still ample parking. The shuttle bus from visitorsโ€™ centre to the stones was efficient, and we didnโ€™t have to wait long. I had heard a lot of complaints that you have to admire from a distance, but itโ€™s a great idea!!! From a heritage point of view, people shouldnโ€™t be allowed to climb over the stones. But from a tourist point of view itโ€™s fantastic! If you want to take some photos it is so easy to do so without a heap of other tourists in the way. I loved it! As always, it asks more questions than it answers! The gift shop was a pleasant surprise. There is a lot of the usual cheap and cheerful stuff, but also some more special mementos. None of which were ridiculous it expensive.

What a nice day exploring ancient England . The ticket is quite pricey but we enjoyed the visit and took lots of lovely pictures. The museum is certainly a must visit as it provides valuable information about the history of the magical place . Avoid the gifts shops is very expensive

A must visit place in the UK. Most famous tourist attraction and the heritage site in England. Entry is free for the English heritage members. Others can buy their tickets at the entrance counters. The site is little far from the entrance counters. They are providing a bus service to go to the stones area. It is included in the entry fee. Parking is available and it is free for everyone. Toilets and the restaurant are at the entrance. No washrooms in the site. Even you can walk without using the buses. Itโ€™s like 10-15 minutes walk. Due to the wind itโ€™s bit cold at anytime, so make sure you have jackets on your hands. Nice environment. But since it is the most iconic place it is always crowded. You can buy tickets online and it will save your time as no need to wait in the queues to get tickets.

I visited 12/29/23: A must place to visit! History before your eyes! Itโ€™s fascinating to see how people lived back then! And the engineering they did to place those stones is amazing! If you do plan on going, plan on driving about two hours- if youโ€™re coming from London. Once there, you will see the ticket office. Then you will proceed to their museum. They have a replica of a village they lived in (Very Impressive). Please keep in mind, the stones are far from the visiting center but they do provide buses or if you like you can walk their trail, so please wear good shoes. You canโ€™t touch the stones, itโ€™s been roped off so donโ€™t plan on it. I hear that you can do a private tour that will allow you to walk around the stones but I didnโ€™t see it. They do have a cafeteria that serves good food and snacks and they also have restroom facilities. If you are still undecidedโ€” the stones are sinking so you may never get a second chance to see themโ€” go and check them out!

We arrived on a coach bus(coming from our cruise) as Stonehenge was opening. There was no traffic going there and barely anyone in the parking lots. The facilities were beautiful and blended well into the landscape. Arriving at opening on a weekday, the ticket line had no more than 10 groups waiting. The cafe was a wonderful surprise with great food and coffee options. The gift shop has a great selection of all things Stonehenge. You can either walk to Stonehenge or take the bus from the ticket center. Super quick and easy ride. We arrived and there was a ton of opportunity to take a picture without a lot of people around. We did see cars parked along a road and you can walk the dirt path, but you wonโ€™t be able to get as close or read any of the information provided as you walk around. You can also see the Stonehenge from the road. There was a lot of traffic when we were leaving around 12pm. Overall, it was a great experience. I recommend going at opening and leaving before the crowds start.

Got on a tour and the Stonehenge is definitely a place worth visiting. A sight that you would usually see in movies and video games, but being there provides a whole new feeling. Understanding the history behind it, along with the scale and vastness of scenery.

STONEHENGE is something different. The energies were amazing, the walk there was really nice. The one thing I really loved was the diverse nationalities who all came to visit it was really good. If you go to Bournemouth this definitely worth going on the way or way back. We will definitely be back! See you again soon

The most iconic view in the middle of grasslands where the people made something very outstanding thing for the generations to believe in the stone-era. The Stonehenge was the perfect day trip where you can know how it was made that stones in well shaped without help any architecture instruments to move them. The must visit places in English land where you have to wear gloves if you want to take nice photos and one more jacket if you have not luck with wind.

Nice historical place to visit if the weather is good. Great outdoor relaxation away from the city especially if you live in London. It's easy to find situated near the A303 closest town being Amesbury. To enter the car park use A360 and just follow the Car Park signs. Here you'll find the visitor centre and also take the minibus to the site. The bus ride to and from the site is included in the ticket. Or just take a nice walk. The stones can't be touched, you can't get to close too them. The downside is that if you aren't a big fan of it or it's mystery... or just visited out of curiosity, you won't spend more the 30 minutes here. But still nice to visit. It can get windy. As for a day trip combined with a visit to Salisbury very good choice. It's approximately 25 minute drive distance between them.

This is by far the most recognized, famous and mysterious location ever to exist. A lot of theories have been proposed regarding its origins, purpose and who made them. So far no right answers can be provided. I believe it's mankind's greatest secret. Some say it might be a portal to other planets, an array for interstellar communication or a beacon signaling someone out there, who knows, right?. So go there be wondered by this magnificent, ancient and breathtaking venue. Make up your own theories regarding what it might have been or still is, maybe. Watch the birds and how they behave weirdly around the stones and how they land specially on the top of 1 of them. Just enjoy the experience and let your mind fo nuts... I recommend you to walk from the visitor's centre to Stonehenge (about 20/25 min, relax walking) and the same when you're coming back (go through the Forrest). I promise you won't be disappointed. Also book a tour (i vouch for Golden tours - cheap, plenty of time in each venue, the guides will provide so much data), they are quite cheap considering how much important this venue is. So fo there and enjoy, one more thing wear super warm clothes and umbrella, it's incredibly windy even when the sun is out and let this beauty sink in, you wont forget it.

We had a majestic journey My recent visit to Stonehenge was nothing short of awe-inspiring. As I approached the ancient monument, the sheer magnitude and mystery of the standing stones left me captivated. The atmosphere was charged with a sense of history, and the well-preserved site offered a glimpse into the ingenuity of our ancestors. The visitor center provided a comprehensive introduction to Stonehenge's significance, combining informative exhibits with cutting-edge technology. The audio guide was a valuable companion, offering detailed insights into the history, construction, and possible purposes of this iconic landmark. Walking around the stone circle, I marveled at the precision with which these massive stones were arranged, pondering the age-old questions that surround Stonehenge's origins. The preservation efforts and the ability to get up close to the stones added to the overall experience, allowing for a personal connection with this archaeological wonder. The surrounding landscape, with its vast plains and distant horizons, enhanced the magical aura of Stonehenge. Visiting during different times of the day offered unique perspectives, each casting a different spell on the ancient site. In conclusion, Stonehenge is a must-visit for history enthusiasts, offering a profound journey through time in a setting that resonates with mystery and grandeur. My visit was an unforgettable exploration of a timeless masterpiece, leaving me with a deep appreciation for the marvels of human achievement. B Thanks

The famous, widely advertised scattering of stones that loved by filmmakers and to which all sorts of supernatural properties are attributed, kind of adjustments the facts to fit the circumstances. In general, it leaves a pleasant impression, but one needs to consider that one can observe them from a minimum distance of 10 meters and all this pleasure costs ยฃ20, providing that there is not much to see, one needs to understand that the conversation is about the pile of stones, which are supposedly of advanced age and allegedly installed in a special order, this is actually their main attraction - in fact, as for me, the skill of sales to tourists who are greedy for impressions.

Although the stones are nothing extraordinary, everything is well preserved and organized. There are some information panels before you get to it and a walkway (extremely muddy and difficult to walk) to view the monument from several angles. I liked the bus that runs the stones and the visitors center, but they could offer some info during the ride

We came here as part of our Honeymoon while in England. I visited in the 90's and I cannot say enough about the upgrades since my last visit. The visitor center is AMAZING!!!! The bus ride out was great and our driver was super nice. It really is amazing when you think about how these gigantic slabs of stone got to their current location. A very "awe inspiring" feeling!

Great bit of history to visit, the walk from the visitor centre is a nice easy saunter down a straight road for 20 minutes. No need to pay for tickets to see it, but if you buy the tickets you can get closer and take the bus there - I didn't buy the ticket. Possibly needs better signposting for the fact you can actually walk straight through without buying anything.

Having driven past on a number of occasions, this was on our list to visit. As we were on our way down to Falmouth, we had booked tickets to drop by on the way down. The first thing I found quite surprising is that the parking was around 1.5 miles from Stonehenge. The choices, after 'checking in', was to walk the 1.5 miles or to wait for a coach - which wasn't pleasant when a number of people insisted on not wearing masks to protect others. The surrounding areas were really nice. I hadn't done my research and hadn't realised that you weren't allowed right up to the stones unless in a tour, which again I found a bit disappointing. However, the weather was really quite nice and we got some great photos. I'm really glad to have gone, however there is no way I'd have travelled 2.5 hours just to go here. There really isn't too much to do there, or should I say not too much we were interested in doing. There was a gift shop and some huts, but unless you are very interested in reading all of the signs in the areas about the history, you certainly wouldn't be able to spend too long here. Thankfully we are English Heritage members and so didn't need to pay, but for those who are paying full price I think I might be underwhelmed.

Whatโ€™s not to like? Simple to get to and delivers as advertised. On arrival there is a free car park followed by a short walks to a cafe, gift store, WC, and clean comfortable buses to take you to the stones. Before you depart, it is definitely worthwhile to spend 10 minutes in the exhibition which explains a lot about the history of Stonehenge and the many other structures nearby, some of which pre-date the iconic stone circle. After that, if you step outside you will see some replicas of homes that existed in the nearby village. The buses arrive every three or four minutes and the drivers are courteous. The drive is only 3 or 4 minutes long but if you look for them you can see some of the other earthen structures shown in the exhibition. You can also opt to walk to the site. It is about 2 miles. If you are up for a hike, the area is crisscrossed with walking trails. The Stones are a marvel, but I will skip a description since you will experience it for yourself.

Certainly worth visiting. Keep in mind, you need to take a bus (it's free) from the visitor centre to the actual stones, but it's roughly a 10 min wait between each bus (however you can walk if you want to, unsure how long the walk takes though). The best view is the one directly in front of you when you arrive, hence why it's the busiest, but you can walk around the structure to view the various angles and other partial structures.

Great experience as expected. Booked a slot to guarantee tickets with the National Trust as access is free to England Members. Well laid out visitor centre with cafe/ souvenir shop to the left, ticket office in the centre and exhibition/ English Heritage membership shop and Toilets to right. Take some time to walk around as there are plenty of outdoor exhibits to see just around the centre. From the centre it's a 40-45 minute walk to Stonehenge along a route that follows the old road. Alternatively there is a shuttle bus leaving every 5 minutes or so for the 5-6 minute trip to the stones. Top Tip 1.Book early to get the time you want.National Trust England Membership gets you free entry.National Trust Scotland membership doesn't. Busier Times are the morning. Top Tip 2.Download the narration that matches the number flags around the stones. Its very informative with lots of extra information.Available from Google Store. Top Tip 3. The cafe gets busy from 11:45 onwards so if you arrive 11:15 to 11:30 and want Lunch go before you go to the stones.

We arrived at 7pm, and parked down a gravel track just off the main road and walked up to the stones on the public footpath. Lovely views at sunset, had a chat with the security guard on duty, family photos taken and a hasty retreat to the car from the bitterly cold wind.

We visited in October on a weekday (Thursday) and reached at 3:00 pm. There was absolutely no rush and we were able to get tickets with out any hassle. But would recommend to buy tickets online as we had to shell out almost 6 pounds extra per ticket than what it was showing online. The cafe was good and serves a decent spread, there was ample seating. We opted for a bus as the closing time is 5 PM. We reached there in 5 min via bus if you reach early you can walk also. It is a beautiful landscape with green grass and patches of trees here and there , as it was autumn the tress and beautiful colours on them. The path is clearly marked and you can download the mobile app which gives you information about all the places near the monument and about the monument also. It was a pleasant walk and we were able to click beautiful pictures, it is not allowed to go inside the stone structures but we can go close enough to get good pictures. Lastly around 4 PM they told us they will close in 20 min so we took the bus back. The gift shop had good options to get some souvenirs. And then we left around 5PM. Overall a good experience.

We booked a half day tour with Day Tours London that included a ride in an AC bus from London to Stonehenge and back. 100% recommend this UNESCO world heritage site. It's been on my bucket list for a decade and finally got to see it up close. Best to go reach early around 9am and be one of the first ones at the site if you want to take pictures. It starts getting crowded very quickly. There's a car and coach parking near the visitor's centre and then their own shuttle bus takes you to the Stonehenge site. About a 5 min ride from the visitor's centre to Stonehenge. You can check out the visitor's centre and exhibition later on your way back. There's also an a self guided audio tour through their app. It's quite informative. The stones themselves are a definite marvel to look at. The landscape is beautiful. Totally worth the ride and cost. Some cool souvenirs in the tourist center, but the cost can be prohibitive. The exhibition is about Stonehenge and fills in some more historical details about the people that built the Stonehenge and what it may have looked like and how it evolved over the past five thousand years. We were also lucky to catch a Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson enactment right outside the visitor's center by actors from Time Will Tell acting company. Brilliant performance about the mystery of the Stonehenge!

What a great experience. The weather was a bit chilly and overcast, but still worth the trip. We got very lucky to be there at opening time. We walked to the site which was nice, but there is a shuttle service from the visitor center to the stones. We had a great interaction with one of the attendants band Paul. He gave us a great explanation and story of Stonehenge. We got really lucky with that. There is an app available as well that is excellent.

Pretty good but ยฃ50 for a walk around the stones was a bit much I thought (family of 4) especially as it's owned by the British people. There are some Neolithic age huts on the site now and there was a demonstration of how their roof was thatched which the kids took part in. On site cafe, obligatory gift shop and visitor centre with a bus to and from the stones unless you care to walk (it's a nice walk actually). If you do choose to walk from the visitor centre to the stones there are plastic mats laid down to walk on part of the way but you may need wellies when going the rest of the way especially through the wood.

The walk up (30 minutes) to the stones from the visitor centre could have been much nicer. Yes, there are free shuttle buses, but a nice walk would have been appreciated. The walk is mostly along the shuttle bus road, almost completely straight and with no hedges or other landscaping...I also don't know why the visitor centre is so far away? Must be a reason, but no idea what it might be. The stones are ok. I guess the antiquity of them failed to reach me...the friendly rooks and crows with the occasional raven are fun!

Fantastic World Heritage site. Well worth it a visit. It was built some 5000 years ago. Each big stone weight 30 tons, and even the small blue stones are 3 tons each. Adult ticket is ยฃ20 each but itโ€™s part of English heritage site, So if you are a member is free to visit. Itโ€™s worth it to get an annual membership. There is a stonehenge audio tool app you can download which you can use as a audio guide during your visit. Shuttle bus will take you to the stones and on the way back there is an exhibition near the exit. Last entry is at 3:15 in the afternoon. Free parking for the remember of English Heritage. We had a pleasant afternoon here.

Did not disappoint. One of the world's most famous prehistoric monuments, from its origins about 5,000 years ago to the 21st century. We did this as part of tour leaving from London on the bus. The site is well maintained and had a lot of information provided. This was more beautiful in person then in pictures. A World Heritage Site, Stonehenge and its surrounding prehistoric monuments remain powerful witnesses to the people of the Neolithic and Bronze Ages who created them.

Finally. Bucket list spot finally checked off. Old. Mysterious. Beautiful. Spiritual. Loved it here. Lots of people though. Literally hundreds. Had to strategically line up my photo takes. Crazy long walk to get here from the parking lot area/cafe/gift shop. Take the bus... There's not much to see between the stones and your car. It's way over-priced admission, but I get it. It's a really eye-popper.... A must see!

Really interesting place to visit, definitely one of the most important and well known landmarks in England. Last time we have been here it was in December and it was nice and quite, nothing compared to the crazy amount of people you find queuing during the summer, so I would definitely recommend going during the quieter months. The ticket price is a bit expensive, about ยฃ23 per person, and the gift shop and restaurant prices follow the same line, because obviously is really touristic, but I would still recommend visiting it!

Amazing! Totally worth it! Itโ€™s a must if you are in the area. The museum leaves you with more questions than answers, but thatโ€™s why are there. Good exhibitions, even the remains of past inhabitants. Itโ€™s very interesting to read and watch the points of views of experts about this enigmatic archeologic site. At the end of the museum you go to the outdoor area, with replicas of their housings and the demonstration of the technical used to carry the stones from hundreds of miles away. In some of the houses you can find experts to explain and answer your questions about the past living in the area. Thatโ€™s where you take the shuttle to the stones. You cannot touch them or take pictures โ€œnextโ€ to them because their are preserved with cords to keep the tourists to a prudent distance, which I think itโ€™s great. You can still walk around the complex and enjoy different points of view, especially the north and south with the sunrise or sunset in between the stones. They offer convenient family passes. Free parking onsite.

My husband and I paid for the 7.30am circle experience and it was fantastic. There were only 9 in the group so we had a very peaceful hour to wander round the stones. Iโ€™ve always seen pictures of Stonehenge but until you get a chance to experience the area personally, youโ€™ll never understand how amazing they truly are. When you arrive to the visitors center there is a small restaurant and plenty of clean restrooms. They have a complimentary shuttle that transports you to the ruins. If someone is interested in ancient times this place is worth to visit. Convenient car park for free. Good facilities for families. There is a touristic center with cafe and shop, toilets. From the touristic center to the place where stones are there is about 30 minutes walk, but there are buses as well. You can walk there or take a bus. Bus is for free (your ticket covers the cost of the bus) and they are available every 5 minutes. Beautiful views over the fields. If you have small kids, take buggy, it can be useful.

Well worth a visit. If you're a member of English Heritage it's free, you can buy a 12 month membership on site. Interesting facts in the small museum and outside. Choice of taking a free bus or walking one and half miles to the stones. No scaffolding when we visited 4/10/21 the restoration had finished. Would have been better if the barriers around the stones were moved in as you are quite a way from the stones at most points.

The visitors centre is about 1.5 miles away from Stonehenge. The walk up there is through fields and woodland, but if you prefer, you can take the shuttle bus, but you'll miss the woodland walk which is worth doing. The Visitor's Centre is a large complex, with a good size restaurant, a really nice shop and toilets. Stonehenge is a National Heritage poperty but I believe the woodland walk is National Trust.

This is one of those famous places that people have to see when they're in England. It was amazing. Just thinking about the history and the age of the place really makes it interesting. The new visitor's center has a really cool video showing the timeline of the site. It's really informative and a must see.

Great Historical site and museum. Plenty of free parking including for Handicap accessible vehicles. The facility was clean and well staffed by friendly employees who were adhering to all the Covid protocols. Restrooms were available and also clean. It does have an admission price which includes the bus ride to the Stonehenge site. There is also a restaurant which had a nice assortment of food and drink.

I went on a VIP tour which means you go early hours like 6am before the tourists arrive. The reason why is you get to walk inside of the circles in the middle right up to them rather then on the path that the tourists have to use which is like 10m away from the stones. If you do intend to visit the stones make sure it states on the booking ticket that you can walk up to the stones rather then having to stay on the tourist path.

Awesome place to visit !!! Visited this place on Christmas Day, no crowd at all. As visitor centre was closed, we park car on nearby public pathway along Fargo Road, which is gravel road. Then entered through grass fields, you have clear view of Stonehenge ๐Ÿ‘ Also visited nearby Woodhenge place. Best time to visit during sunrise or sunset.

I visited Stonehenge just because it's one of the famous World Heritage. So? It was actually MUCH better than I had expected. The stones stand in the middle of nowhere, which makes you think of the mysterious history. I recommend to visit in the summer when the sky is blue!

It's a beautiful place. Even though it was busy and we had to queue to get in, it didn't feel like there were many people there because of how big it is. The shuttle bus service is excellent for anyone who doesn't want to walk to the stones. I took the shuttle there and then walked back as it was a beautiful day. Its not far, at a medium to slow pace it took me just under 30 minutes. The museum is good and has some very interesting displays. Overall I recommend Stonehenge for all ages. Its a lovely place.

Your tour departs from London's Fountain Square before heading straight to Stonehenge. Huge stones standing in majestic silhouettes in the Salisbury Plain have been recorded for some 5,000 years. Their enduring mystery has been the subject of interest among historians and cultures for generations. Your visit will then take you to Bath, as the city's name suggests, where the famous Roman baths can be found. As you walk through the baths, your professional guide discusses this UNESCO World Heritage Site, as well as the Georgian architecture in the area. Your tour ends when you reach London

Immerse yourself 4000 years ago. Unique experience which is worthwhile on a sunny Sunday with the family. Recommend to who is reading this. Worth mentioning that it is better to have a National Trust membership prior to visiting the site, as it is free, parking also, otherwise is quite expensive, around ยฃ50 per family of 3.

One of Britain's most historic sites. Well presented and preserved by English History. A must-see location as a member, as it's free and super quick to enter this way. Quick bus tours make it easy to get from the visitors center. Or, a clear path if you want to walk there. Great gift shop, and further information within the centre itself. Complete 360 views of the stones. Albeit from a little distance away. Aspect plenty of tourists, at any time.

A take back to 5000 years. A must watch place in UK.. World heritage site. A pleasant view and travel back to history. If you are an English heritage or National trust member, access to this place is free. Start from the exhibition centre to know about the history and you can take the free bus from the exhibition centre to the stones. I personally loved the experience. If you are interested in the history, this is a fantastic experience for you.

It's actually pretty cool. Yes, there are a lot of tourists and the entry fee seems very steep (26 GBP!) and apart from on the Summer Solstice, you can't get very close, but I still enjoyed the visit.

This is definitely a tourist destination and they want to make sure they are capturing all the visitors they can. They create the parking lot and visitor center a bus ride away from the actual monument. You can walk, which is about 20 minutes and is recommended on a nice day. Enjoyed the videos in tourist center. Glad it was part of National Trust. Recommend getting the pass if you are in the UK for any length of time. Worth the investment.

Beautiful place to visit! The museum was informational and the gift shop was excellent, washrooms were clean. We had tickets for 4pm on a Monday in June and it wasnโ€™t overly crowded. We were able to get on the bus to and from the site quickly with no wait. There is a lot of room to roam around and the stones are spectacular in person - photos donโ€™t do it justice!

Awe inspiring monument to visit, the stones are spectacular. You just have tons of other tourists to deal with, walking up there instead of the bus is a good way to go. The inevitable souvenir shop selling tacky 'Neolithic' things does cheapen the experience.

Overall, it was a great experience, especially for my son. We didn't pay for the tour/bus fee. We walked the free path and parked in the main visitors center parking lot. It was easy-to-use and had plenty of parking and public bathrooms! Behind the visitors center, we had a great view of several historic informationals on Stonehenge. They also had a few huts and stones that my son found fascinating. The walk took about 30 minutes down the roadway, but we took our time to stop and enjoy the scenery. The view of Stonehenge was awesome and definitely worth it. The pay for ticket side allows you to get a bit closer, but not much. We had a great time, and when we walked back, we went via the grass/farmland path, which was also really nice. We saw quite a few cattle and were able to take a stroll with them I the field, which was cool. Seems like they offer a larger tour style option with the busses, but we had heard that the free option was fun, and we're tight on time, so we opted for the free walk. Overall, it was absolutely awesome and truly historic. A+

It's fascinating to see together with the exhibition at the visitor centre. A free bus takes you to the stones. A very nice gift shop on site with quality merchandise and a cafe if you fancy a light bite. There is plenty of free parking available. Allow 2 hours and bring a coat if visiting in poor weather.

I had been wanting to visit for a while, the stones appeared somehow smaller than I had built up in my imagination but still a magical place. Will be returning to visit the long barrows. Well worth a visit.

The Stones are a marvel, a wonder along the line of the Pyramids of Giza. You can have a picnic and enjoy the day here. Free option....You can park in main carpark. Stonehenge is a perfect example of a well run and maintained attraction visitors from all walks of life and ages can find many things to do here as the site caters for all ages . Upon arrival the parking was well marshalled and laid out the entrance is clean and tidy with volunteers on hand for any issues.

The new structures built for the tourists look great and the place has been well constructed. Once you have your tickets you can walk or get the bus up to the stones. Its been about 50 years since I was last here and we could play in the stones. This system they have now at least preserves them. Only thing that I thought was a downer was the price. ยฃ22?

It's a historic place to see and learn. It's a bit pricey and gift shop, cafe are kindaa extremely expensive on top of high ticket price. So may be once in a lifetime is good to actually see the stones.

Genuinely pleasant way to spend a day out. I have EH membership so itโ€™s affordable. Without EH Iโ€™d think twice but having been Iโ€™d say itโ€™s worth going at least once. Spend the time by the henge, take the bus, take your time in the museum, bring your own food. Parking is easy, peak time is worth avoiding and definitely worth going in the summer days.

Not a place to miss ,we took a dog with us so couldn't walk close to the stones, or some of the other buildings, I would recommend joining the national Trust so you will get in for free, you can then visit lots of other places in the area

What an amazing team - the front line staff rang ahead to let the 'entrance to the Henge' team know that Dennis the Dachshund was coming, and that he'd need additional support. Fabulous, thank you!

Magical place to visit, however we did not buy any tickets or visit the visitors centre. We simply cycled along the access road and walked along the public footpath which is the other side of the boundary fence. Paid people walk along a path on the other side of this fence, so only a few meters closer. Great views of the monument from either side. The only reason to spend ยฃ20 plus each is to visit the museum.

Driving by on the roadway isn't enough. This World Heritage site is worth every moment of walking around as close as the ropes will let you, which is close enough to see the liken detail on each stone. Any day is a wonderful day here.

Going on a cold day in November was great because it really wasnโ€™t very busy. Take the time to chat to one or two of the guides they are full of interesting facts ๐Ÿ‘ The history of the area is amazing dating back thousands of years.

British heritage in itโ€™s finest well worth a trip there. But my suggestion is park up away from car park up the lanes you get just as good a view of the stones and it has lovely countryside with loads of views and animals for the little ones to see . On a good day like we went it was a great trip out

A must see if you are visiting England! Sure it may just be rocks in a field but when you get close to them the reality and mysticism of how they got there sets in. I parked on Fargo rd and walked around 15-20 minutes down the gravel road which gets you quite close to the marvel while being a free option. Very worthwhile stop whether driving past or as a day trip.

Stonehenge finally got to tick off my list of things I have always wanted to complete on my bucket list. I would recommend signing up to the English national heritage membership scheme, it's cheaper to do things that way in my opinion. There is parking available and have to transfer over to watch one of the countries best heritages sites. I can confirm, in the movies it's x3 times bigger but that's not true. They are reasonably sized, I can verify this

A must see for those looking for ancient history outside of London! I was bizarrely reminded of the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt, which apparently were built around the same period. To enjoy this monument, book as part of a day trip online ( Trip Advisor is a good start). Also take into account the weather as this can impact on how much you enjoy the wonders of this world heritage site!

Rocks... But with alot of history. Stonehenge is an English heritage site and a must to visit, a lovely landmark. The carpark is big with plenty of spaces and disabled bays. No smoking on site, only by the entrance. Dogs are welcome and have to be kept on a lead. Once you have entered the grounds your welcome to stay until they close. From the entrance you can use the restrooms, Cafe, shop and museum. Your tickets include a shuttle ride to the stones or you can walk roughly 30 minutes along the path. Once at the stones you can use the path provided to see the stones or have a sit down on one of the benches around. There is an army base nearby so be prepared to hear gun fire, see helicopters and tanks, as well as the main road nearby. In the winter they have a restricted path, were as in the summer the path goes all the way round the stones. Best to follow the map provided and the digital app for audio tours is in many languages. Lovely area to visit.

Absolutely LOVED my day out to stonehenge it was so interesting and somewhat mysterious. Staff were all extremely friendly food was good and great variety of items in the gift shop. The only thing I would say is bring extra money for the day as it is not a cheap day out. Food and drinks are very expensive gift shop prices are on the high side but for the quality of products it is acceptable.

  • 5/5 Zoe T. 2 years ago on Google
Theres something magical about this place. If you download the app, you get a walking audio tour which is very informative and is over an hour. You get to see the Stonehenge from all angles and you can take some lovely pictures. The souvenir shop is lovely, I bought coffee there. Unfortunately there was no snow globe (yet I can buy a Stonehenge snow globe in Bath?) I didn't visit the cafe but I did visit the exhibition centre which was lovely and had lots on. I recommend a visit if you can. Book a tour from Bath.

Most of the time Stonehenge is too crowded to fully enjoy the site, and it was the same last time I took my family there. I'm glad that this time my bf invited me for a ride around the facilities, in the evening, where the traffic is much calmer. We could admire this unique stone formation from a distance, while also enjoying some of the gravel byways nearby โ˜บ๏ธ

Historical Location where you can see some big rocks. Want to get close but not be able to touch you could pay a nice price different prices for different distances. If you stay to the left you can follow the free trail and be like 50' away from the stones. It is a about 15 minute walk from the visitor center visitor center to the stones not bad. You can also pay an entrance fee which includes a shuttle ride to the stones and be about 5 or 10' away from the stone. Free parking. Overall I enjoyed seeing it for its historical significance.

Pretty awe inspiring place but super busy and a long walk from the visitor center. Also pretty expensive if you don't have an English heritage membership. Tip: buy a 9 day foreign visitor card if you will be visiting a few sites. It pays for itself quickly.

  • 5/5 Sean L. 1 year ago on Google
For what it is I loved seeing Stonehenge. You need to purchase a private tour to get close to the stones, but standard entry gets you close enough for photos. Bus or walk from the visitor center. Worth the visit.

  • 3/5 Benjamin P. 1 year ago on Google
So this is a National Trust and English Heritage Site. Free entry for both members which can save you an awful lot of money. Directions to get to Stonehenge weren't great. Depending on which app you use it will direct you to a lay by opposite. The signage is not great and unfortunately people cause traffic jams by slowing down to take pictures. When you actually get to Stonehenge it is good that they have a shuttle which takes you to the site and on the whole, most of the staff are friendly. There are a few jobsworths who unfortunately diminish the experience slightly. There are a few cool photo ideas dotted around the Stones which make the visit a bit more fun and interactive. I felt that there wasn't really an opportunity to get a tour of the site and the app took forever to load and install. Would have liked the option to listen to a proper audio tour. You need a decent zoom on your camera to take good photos of the Henge. I've visited it now but I can't say that I was impressed with the overall experience. Gift shop is expensive and museum is very brief.

Very well-maintained site, the visitor centre is quite informative and it is indeed very nice walk through the fields and around the Stonehenge itself. You definitely get close enough to appreciate many of the details and the magnificence of this stone circle.

Fantastic and impressive place. It was definetely worth of it to drive and queue there. We would recommend to come here on a working day in morning hours, if itยดs possible, to avoid longer queues. When we arrived at Stonehenge Circle, we observed a queue already going back, but when we went back, the queue was already gone as they just sent more Shuttles. ;) Well organized.

Seen many episodes on stone Henge and conspiracy theories on the history channel. But seeing it in person is very different, a must see attraction for anyone visiting England. If you have time it is a very nice walk from the visitor center to stone Henge or you can ride the bus. There were many people walking their dogs. To me this place is still a mystery, why was it built and who used it for what purpose? Everything we know so far is mostly an educated guess.

Great time spent. We went during February half term and there were activities for the children to try. My children really enjoyed these. Good quality food served in the cafe. My son really enjoyed the shuttle bus, these were very frequent. Was not so busy we could not get an uninterrupted photo of the stones.
