Absolutely beautiful suspension bridge. We definitely recommend you have a look if you’re in Bristol. The bridge is easy accessible, we went via a bus which took about 20 minutes from the city centre. You can also drive (I did see some parking), and the bridge is next to a lovely park so you can walk around if you’re in the area. Of course this area gets busy when it’s tourist season but it’s such an amazing view, I would definitely recommend you stopping by. Best time to go would be just before sunset, because then you can see the bridge during the day and then watch as it turns its lights on at night. There’s also a good selection of bars and pubs within a 10 minute walk, so you can make an evening of it.

Amazing views! A must visit if ever in Bristol, you can spend hours taking in the beautiful scenery. Many details around you. With the observatory close by, and a tunnel leading to suspended balcony in the middle of the cliff. The bridge itself is more than a 100 years old. With daily walking tours. You can put your camera down, many details you can find around you while crossing and beautiful scenery. It takes around 5 minutes going from one side to the other. Unfortunately the Avon gorge below was nearly dry when we visited August 2022 because of the heatwave, but still the views were beautiful. The Clifton area close by with the Mall gardens and many authentic restaurants. A nice place to send part of your day and end with having a meal in on of those restaurants. Note: the bridge has a £1 pound toll if crossing in a car.

It's not very often I get the chance to walk around the bridge but it's really enjoyable every time I do. The engineering is impressive the views are amazing. You really get to experience how big this bridge is when walking across. The walkways are not very wide so if in a group could make it difficult to pass by if stopped on the bridge. There is a visitor center a short walk from the bridge. I really enjoyed visiting the bridge and hope to visit again soon.

This was the main attraction during my short visit in Bristol. We went there by bus no. 8 which passes near the Clifton village. We were amazed to see the height and the natural beauty surrounding the bridge. This 1500 tons iron bridge opened in 1864 which is on the river Avon and linked Bristol with North Somerset. It takes £1 for every vehicle crossing the bridge but free for pedestrians. We were lucky to find the weather perfect for the visit and truely, the bridge looked stunning from nearby Clifton Observatory. There is cave under the Observatory (pay for) which enables anyone to see the beauty of the bridge and surroundings from middle point of the bridge and ground. There is a small playground nearby Clifton village which is also good and my son enjoyed it after visiting the bridge. I must say, we are very fortunate to come and see this distinctive engineering landmark of the UK. We enjoyed every bit of this visit.

So impressive! Great to walk across, audio guide via QR (tho could’ve been longer), amazing views over the city and Clifton is a really nice area to explore after

Lovely old bridge that's not only a great piece of engineering, but looks beautiful spanning over the River Avon and suspended between the gorge at Clifton. This iconic structure must be among one of the beautiful landmarks of the South West of England and well worthy of a visit

I mean... Really scary to look downward 😅 But the toll (for vehicles to cross the bridge) is keeping it well maintained I guess ? Not sure. Historic and iconic place to visit in Bristol. There's nothing to review as such sorry 🥲

It's just a bridge! But when lit up at dusk it is breathtaking. Great views high over the river and road below. A short walking distance to the observatory for a elevated view down to the bridge.

One of the oldest and famous hanging bridge. It's known as the jewel of Bristol. A fabulous view. Train and river flowing below. What a beautiful scenery. Worth visiting.

Great view from the top of the bridge. You can walk on the bridge free and you can drive on the bridge by just paying £1 (contactless payment). There are limited parking spots available after crossing the bridge having 15 to 20 mins max waiting time, so you can have a view from the top. Have a look at the pics and see the beauty.

You can enjoy nice view over the Clifton Suspension Bridge and one coffee shop on top of the hill. It is possible to visit a cave from where you should enjoy even better view (I have not done it, so I leave that part to others to evaluate). It was very cold at the time when I was there and it might have impacted the overall impression.

Amazing views up and down river from the bridge. The £1 to cross by car is worth it. The staff in the visitor centre are also extremely knowledgeable and friendly

This was on my list of things to see when in Bristol and it is well worth the visit. The bridge has a £1 toll if you want to cross it in your car which is taken via a card payment and if you want to park by the visitor centre you will need coins. At the visitor centre we got a nice warm welcome and a brief overview of the bridge and what was on display, there are toilet facilities onsite and you can walk over the bridge although be aware there is a one way system in place which makes sense so you can take in the view on both sides. A must see if you are in the area.

Fabulous views, interesting historical facts and stories. Free visitors centre. £1.00 toll to cross the bridge. All upkeep of the bridge is paid for from the tolls. The gorge is also home to many specific plants. The Bristol White beam being found no where else on earth.

Beautiful attraction! Only two stars due to the runners going across it and I don’t feel enough is being done about it! It’s such a narrow path and being forced out the way by runners is extremely frustrating and will likely result in some kind of accident and then the bridge will be closed to every one. Please sort it out.

The Clifton Suspension Bridge over the River Avon near the city of Bristol, Great Britain, was built in 1836-1864 and is one of the main attractions of the city and the country. The bridge was put into operation on December 8, 1864. Its total length is 230 meters, including a span of about 190 meters over the gorge of the River Avon, through which it is thrown. Very picturesque place. I recommend to visit here to everyone who comes to Bristol.

Amazing views, one of the most stunning places in the UK. Walking up the hill from the river below was a nice challenge, good to walk off expanding pandemic waistlines. The view from the bridge made me dizzy as the side walls are see through and I was tempted to look down, but I enjoyed the view from the safety of the roads around the bridge. The bridge itself a marvelous feat of civil engineering.

Fascinating, looks like a diamond necklace, good for sight seeing, beautiful view of Bristol City at night. Over the hill you get to see the padlocks where lovers make a pact for their love. A sad thing about the bridge is many people have committed suicide on this bridge because of divorce, loss of their home because of mortgages. Highly recommended.

Clifton Suspension Bridge is one of the oldest suspension Bridge of it's time. Built around 1860 AD. It's an engineering Marvel and good picturesque view from the Bridge. Bristol City looks quite beautiful from the Bridge. Must visit for Nature enthusiast. One can go Trekking as well on the hill near the bridge.

Great views! Free to walk either way and just £1 to drive over. The paths are quite narrow so it helps if people pay attention to the one-way signs. Free parking nearby as well. Very close to the Clifton Observatory and cave. Perfect for geologists/rock enthusiasts because you can see some brilliant examples of limestone beds! If you get close enough to the rocks further west by the main road going beneath the bridge then you might be able to see some little fossils too!

If you visit Bristol you have to go to the Clifton Bridge. We visited early in the morning and found some parking spots near the bridge. You can get 30 minutes free parking, which is barely enough if you cross on foot and take your time to admire the view. Some really nice cafes very close.

Really nice view of the bridge from the park above. The bridge itself is quite a sight to see, the immense build structure is quite impressive to look at in first person. The park on top of the hill is quite nice too as it'd a nice picnic spot and it the overlooking view of the bridge and the surrounding area is a nice spot for taking the pictures.

Clifton Suspension Bridge is the most popular place in Bristol and the seventh most popular place for photos in the whole of the United Kingdom. The most popular photo spot is the base of the western tower on the Clifton side of the bridge. Make sure you get your photograph in front of the best view, whether that’s at sunrise or sunset. You can also visit the Giant Cave where you can get a spectacular view.

Stunning suspension Bridge! The view is breathtaking either you look the bring from down or up. Cross the bridge walking is such and incredible experience. With car there is a toll to pay that's 1£, but totally worth it. Waiting the sunset there will give you the chance to take some very amazing pics.

It was a nice place to visit and spending most of the time. Clifton Suspension Bridge is amazing! It's this cool bridge over the River with a mix of old and new vibes. You can walk across it and see awesome views of the city. The river below and the busy life on the bridge make it exciting. What's neat is that Bridge has been rebuilt a bunch of times, showing how strong and resilient it is. It's not just for walking – cars use it too! Day or night, the views are fantastic. It's like a symbol of Bristol's history and how it keeps moving forward. If you're in London, you gotta see this Bridge!

Beautiful view even on an overcast day. The information centre on one side is small but informative on the history of the bridge and its structure. One side was close for repair making it a bit busier on one side but still a must see.

I was just down in Bath when I got suggested to visit Bristol as well. I quickly looked up what I can see in this gorgeous city and the Clifton Suspension Bridge was the first thing that popped up. After a walk up the hill I was amazed by the amazing view. Such a beautiful place wit ha little restaurant/coffee shop on the hill.

I've wanted to walk across the bridge for a long time and it didn't disappoint. Fantastic structure and brilliant to get up close

  • 4/5 John W. 2 years ago on Google
Difficult to park within walking distance of the bridge. Clifton Downs is probably the best bet, but it's all uphill from there. There are e-scooters to rent if you're brave enough. The bridge is always packed with tourists, and there always seems to be traffic on it, so it is not as photo-friendly as you might hope, but the views of the Avon Gorge and the Observatory are stunning.

  • 4/5 Sohail Y. 2 years ago on Google
Nice view at night, free to walk by but £1 to drive through. You can arrange for a tour of the bridge Wednesdays to Saturdays. Bristol was surprisingly very busy and many large buildings.

  • 5/5 Yijie X. 10 months ago on Google
Quite an impressive bridge, with plenty of viewing platforms for tourists, as well as significant amounts of greenery. Parking is in short supply, but you can find stops leading up to the bridge for 15-30 minutes to be quite sufficient. Note that you can get two different views for both sides of the bridge. Moreover, make sure to climb up the hill for better views, as well as cafe access. Overall, an excellent visit

  • 5/5 DonDorcha 6 months ago on Google
It's a 1 pound toll to drive 1 way over the bridge and another pound to drive back over it. You get the best view of the bridge from Clifton Observatory and the hill overlooking it. Designed by Brunel at the age of 24, it's a staggering creation far above the River Avon. In my opinion it's one of the best views in the UK and I'd recommend everyone to go and see it.

  • 4/5 Abdul O. 7 months ago on Google
Amazing piece of engineering, way ahead of it's time. It was nice been able to see this bridge, walk through and experience it. Worth visiting the tourist centre at the end of the bridge for more information on how this bridge was engineered and other interesting stories.

Nice place to visit for a day trip. Awesome views from and if you walk it's a good hiking experience too 😜.

  • 5/5 Sergio P. 6 months ago on Google
Really cool bridge between a part and another part of Bristol. To be honest it is not super big but you can get to see most of Bristol and get some good pictures around the area. It also connects Bristol with a big park where you can find a miniature railway which you can ride and there is a golf club nearby as well. Honestly it was a great experience that I would recommend everyone to live.

Loved it. We parked at the Ashton Court Estate. The parking I think was £1.80 for the day. Bargain. Walked through the estate down to the Clifton suspension bridge. Took about 15 to 20 mins casual walking. The views from the bridge are stunning. The bridge is stunning. Once you have walked over the bridge you can walk upto the observatory grounds where there’s some spectacular views of the bridge. And to add to it there was an ice cream van and a coffee truck at one end of the bridge. 👍all in. A very enjoyable visit. Bridge is free to walk across. Think it’s £1 to drive a car over. But that’s a waste of visiting. The walk is the better option.

Beautiful bridge to walk around and see the beauty of it's build. We always park around for free, walk to the bridge, get some ice cream on the walk back from the bridge and then visit the cave and the play area for the kids which is all amazing for a family day out. Amazing views and stunning scenery.

  • 5/5 Richárd V. 1 year ago on Google
Brilliant piece of architectural design. It's a quite popular attractions amongst tourist so there are often some people around it. I would particularly recommend it to photographers, especially those that don't mind to spend even a couple of hours standing and taking some photos from different angles of this beautiful bridge. The surrounding area is also very pretty, and the parks just by the side of the bridge are great places for a walk on the fresh air, not to mention the top of the hill which can reward its climbers with some spectacular views/panorama. I can definitely recommend visiting it.

One of Bristol's must see sights. We took the kids up by the observatory, had a picnic and played frisbee. Then we walked down to cross the bridge and on the way back to the car found a play park to tire them out in. Great afternoon and only paid for parking.

Possibly one of my most favourite places on earth! The views are spectacular and the construction, visually, is exquisite. Such a shame they've covered the post corners with Harris Fencing to prevent people 'congregating together!! The photographic vantage points from those spots is awesome, but one day, again....soon :) until the next time Bristol...stop raising the toll fare and allow payment by cash. Its still a legal tender, for now!!
