A very young garden, compared to those in other parts of the UK, with some some glorious details and features. The walled garden is just fascinating, and within it, the butterfly house is a wonderful place to stop and stare at these amazing tropical insects all around. The huge feature dome hosts a warm ‘Mediterranean’ type semi arid climate, the deep ravine emphasising the contrasts found in those regions. Enough here to happily occupy a day, with lunch in the old farmhouse.

Now, I'm no gardener, and in truth I don't really appreciate plants. I was dragged to the Botanic Garden somewhat reluctantly - but actually I quite enjoyed our visit. We probably didn't go at the best time of year for the outdoor displays (March), but the gardens were still pleasant to wander around, and the main building was spectacular to be in. Easy parking, good catering, good shop, and if you do like a bit of gardening, lots of stuff in their centre on the way out. My favourite bit? The tree roots.

A lovely range of gardens and landscapes from a double walled garden to parkland, from wild flower meadows to tropical glass houses, waterfalls to lakes. Your ticket is valid for a week, so you can keep returning to take full advantage of the space. Dogs are allowed in on Mondays and Fridays, but never in the glass houses. The central cafe is busy but very efficient, with sandwiches or generous main meals, excellent value. And on the way out, a good range of plants for sale suitable for UK gardens.

Six hours here and we didn't see it all!! Staff were very helpful and informative. Lots to see dispite it being early in the year. Hope to return later in the summer. Your ticket is valid for seven days which is great if you're staying local. The bird of prey flying wad spectacular and informative. It's a good day out for all, plus where your mobility scooter cannot get the provide a buggy and knowledgeable driver to take you, such as down to the lakes. Highly recommended.

Very nice place. Lovely clean toilets. Great for all ages. There are lots of different plants to look at and a bonus on the way out - a garden centre 😀 will definitely be going back ( on a cooler day though, we went when it was 28'c). Lovely walks to do around the area.

Lovely day out! A well landscaped and organised parkland and gardens with a variety of zones and areas to explore. From a veg allotment style area to the tropical greenhouse there is much to see but the main attraction is the incredible oval glasshouse. Divided into continental zones and full of birds and various plants it is absolutely worth the visit on its own. Good cafe restaurant, gift shop and plants shop on site too. Seemingly a theatre too although we did not frequent this.

A lovely place for a wander and to look at a massive range of plants and flowers and trees etc etc. Visited at end of August so not so many blooms left but still colourful. Has a massive greenhouse structure. Also on site is the bird of prey centre which is worth 5 stars in itself. Couple of areas to get a coffee and cake so all is cool.

An amazing day (or two) out. Once you buy a ticket you have 7 days to come back again and if I was on holiday longer I would have gone back. I do think there are a few days worth of stuff to do there! We really enjoyed our trip. The map costs 20p but totally worth it if you ask me. The cafe area was good, the gift shop was great also. On the way out there is a garden centre style shop so don't leave your gift buying until walking out. They have 3 eletric wheel chairs for people to use however they were all used when I arrived so we needed to use a manual instead however it was better than nothing, lots of manuals to borrow. A wonderful day out regardless of thr weather as you can see from my photos. I would love to return.

Lovely place to visit if you like botanical gardens. We really enjoyed it. The food and drink selection is small but they have vegan cakes. Very elderly and disabled friendly as they operate golf buggies between the different buildings. The birds of pray show is a must, we loved it.

Very lovely interesting place, huge car park, lots of space for your dog and clean toilets. It's been a great day out, the food smelled amazing and a lot of facts about various plants around the world. Tickets are valid for a week so you are welcome to visit again!

I have been to a lot of gardens. You can tell this is a younger one but wow it is great. Great variety. Amazing dome. Lovely restaurant. You can pay an extra pound to visit the British birds of prey centre too. Highly recommended.

Who doesnt like this place. Being a Londonner living in Wales This place is up in my top 10 best places to visit in Wales. Love the themed gardens expecially the veg garden and Japanese garden. Also inside the Dome with its exotic plants is very impressive. Cafès are ok, but you can always take a pack lunch. The whole of the gardens are litter free, its Well Worth a visit for a day out sunshine or rain...

A beautiful place to visit any time of year - membership is definitely worth it if you will be a return visitor! I’ve been visiting since it opened, and it’s wonderful to see the growth and changes not only seasonally but over the years. The walking trails are a must too if the gardens themselves get too busy! The only disappointment from my most recent visit is that the water feature in the glasshouse is looking a big algae filled and neglected due to the waterfall being switched off and there being no fish in the pond.

Always a great visit, something new every time. Huge grounds to explore as well as the glass dome. Cafe and coffee stops throughout. Definitely worth a visit. A little expensive just to call in on your way past if with a family, would need 3 or 4 hours to make the most of it.

Beautiful gardens, especially the hothouse which is organised into different sections from around the world. Easy to find, plenty of parking and good facilities. Reasonably priced too, and our ticket allowed us to return for free for the next 7 days.

A must visit when in the area! For £17 pp you can visit as many times as you like for 7 days long, great concept (a shame we’re not close enough to actually use it 🥲). The dome is really impressive and the whole grounds are so well maintained.

Arrived 10.00 am as gates opened, left 17.00. Had a splendid day, looked after by the wonderful staff and volunteers throughout the extensive grounds. Cafes and facilities were well provisioned with plenty of choice. We were entertained in the Great Glass House by the Carmarthen Philharmonic Orchestra. Bird of Prey Centre was educational and entertaining with a collection of healthy, obviously well loved and cared for Raptors. We enjoyed our whole experience.

A very gentle day out but still lots to see. The plants are laid out in easy to access domes & areas. I highly recommend a visit to the apothecary's shop & garden (perfect for history buffs & fans of the macabre.) Although a small additional charge the Bird of Prey centre is well worth a visit & catch a display if you can as it shows the knowledge, passion & care that goes into looking after the birds.

A great place to go for a day out. You can either have a good old walk or they offer golf carts to get around if it may be a struggle for some. The birds of prey were absolutely stunning and very well looked after. The whole place was beautiful.

This place is a great family day out. So varied and much to see. There is various themed gardens to walk around, indoor greenhouses with exotic plants and the largest single span glass greenhouse in the world. There is also a lots of walks as your also in the national nature reserve. Also we'll worth visiting is the British bird of prey centre. The cafe serves good quality food too. You can even take your dog with you on Fridays and Mondays, but check the website to confirm.

Beautiful gardens to walk around. Apothecary, Birds of Prey Tropical glasshouses and Gruffalo trail in wonderful woodland that leads to lake and waterfall. The whole day spent walking around exploring paths that take you around the grounds, sending you in different directions to explore and enjoy the many sculptures and hidden places. Amazing place to HE my children attend English Maths & Science Very privileged to have these beautiful gardens on our doorstep. Tickets cost £15 and you have the following seven days after your admission to come back and visit So, if you don't get to see everything in one day, you have the full week to see the whole of the beautiful botanical gardens. Would recommend to everyone Buggy carts are free and can take you anywhere within the park, so if you like me, find it hard to walk everywhere as long as you can find a warden with a walkie-talkie you will be able to call for a pick up in a buggy. Which is great fun. Kids will love it. Lots to explore Cafe and Gift shop Toilets at Reception on arrival or in the cafe area.

A lovely day spent at the National Botanic Gardens. Beautifully presented gardens, lots of walks and great for all ages. Nice gift shop, plenty of places for refreshments and a restaurant (try the lamb pastie). A must is the bird of prey area and definitely pay the extra £3 to watch a display, you'll be amazed at how close the birds fly and land around you. Thank you Botanical Gardens and your staff are all very knowledgeable and friendly.

It was 'doggy day' so we were able to take along my friends' dog for a walk around this lovely place. Visited when it opened on the millennium- it has developed so much since that time. Lovely themed gardens, huge glass dome with tropical plants, as well as lakes and parkland.

  • 5/5 Peter H. 6 months ago on Google
We have visited the garden on several occasions and have always enjoyed our time there. This visit was no exception, but some parts were in need of maintenance or refurbishment. We particularly enjoyed the great glasshouse where the planting is now well established. There is a nice cafe and a birds of prey collection. This time we didn't see a flying display but in the past it has been really good. There are more walks in the parkland since our last visit.

Thus was a wonderful place to visit. The core of the garden was very wheelchair friendly and dog friendly but the paths out of the core are a little unstable under wheels so our companion on a mobility scooter decided to turn back. The food was delicious and it was great to have the dog with us in the cafe rather than having to sit in the cold outside. Will definitely visit again!

Beautiful place. A lot more to see than imagined. Falconry, stunning gardens even when we visited at the end of September. A small cafe within a large courtyard and a larger restaurant/Café, we sat in a glass covered conservatory, lovely and warm. Lots of people walking with their dogs. Looked great for families too.

It was quite beautiful. The main greenhouse was very cool, each section was a different area of the world. The tropical greenhouse was amazing. We visited in autumn so not everything was in flower but it was still quite beautiful. The cafe and gift shop were both nice and not too expensive. It is definitely worth a visit.

One of the most amazing places in Wales. There is such a variety of different things to see, you can easily spend 5-6 hours. The dome, the walled garden, the birds of prey center and the café are all stunning. Take one or all trails to know better the NBGW. Highly recommended for all ages.

Dogs are welcome but not in the dome. The dome was a little disappointing, but the gardens were lovely and the falls were pretty too. The birds of prey were awesome, definitely worth a look

If your coming from england and visit wales i suggest this place as your first stop on the way in tickets cost £15 per adult but give you option to use for 7 days so use when leave when on your way home lol as be free. The birds of prey show is worth it to see it cost £3 each ticket but get to see eagles and red kites and even get to wild kite attacking the eagles as they are in their area. There is plenty of parking on site and toilets are located at the entrance and in cafe which does lovely cake and sandwiches and hot food if you like. There is wheelchair access and they do have carts going around the area to get from place to place if you don't want to walk they might ask for small donation thou.

So pretty and owl centre as well as dome is a must see. However, huge wasp problem at the cafe. When I went to eat there, there was a sparrow seemingly trapped inside the cafe area, flying everywhere sitting on furniture and pooing… and wasps were constantly harassing everyone.

Beautiful place, plenty to do for all ages. Staff very friendly, easy parking. Worth the money when you get a second visit for free within 7 days.

No matter what the Welsh weather throws at you, it's the most beautiful garden with a huge variety of trees and plants ,native and from far afield. Plenty of places to shelter and you can be ferried around by large or small electric buggies, just stick your thumb out or talk to them in reception. Everyone is there to help and inform. Large food area with plenty of choice with disabled facilities throughout. Wheel chair friendly everywhere but strong arms a must or electric power as most if the site has a gradient.

This was a really lovely day out (we went for my birthday) but dropped one star as the food is unnecessarily expensive so take a picnic! The ice-cream however is worth every penny. My favourite bits were definitely the tropical house, the inspire your own garden section and the birds of prey show (3x a day and only £3) absolutely made it.

  • 5/5 Danny W. 10 months ago on Google
We loved the visit here today, so much to see in one day! We went on a Friday and there were loads of kids which was somewhat dissapointing, however the place is so large you can avoid. We especially liked the birds of prey and old pharmacy!

  • 5/5 Givenny K. 11 months ago on Google
The most beautiful, tranquil and relaxing place to visit for a day out with very friendly, informative, kind and helpful members of staff. The tickets seem a little pricey at first, but for me, the gardens and whole experience ended up being worth every penny from the moment I passed through the doors to my botanical adventure. I just wish I could visit every week to enjoy all the flowers and various plants throughout the year!
