Free to visit, wonderful views of the beautiful countryside around. Parking is the only charge £3 in 2023 Walk across is about 350 yards and rhe towpath is narrow, care is needed when passing other visitors, but most people were thoughtful. Drop to the river Dee is enormous about 120 feet and is not for the faint hearted. Well worth a visit.

Lovely Heritage site. Little Shop and museum, boat trips £3 all day car parking, main car park is short walking distance to aqueduct where you can walk alongside the canal but be mindful is it narrow pathway and can become tight when many people are visiting. Wouldn't recommend the walk across bridge if you heights is a fear. However there is some great views going across

First visit to the aqueduct with my family, lovely to walk along the canal side and take in the stunning views. It really is quite breath taking when you stand next to the aqueduct at ground level, considering it's the tallest in the UK and took ten years to build. Quite a remarkable feat of engineering given the period it was constructed and the time it has been standing. We took the narrow boat tour, the guide gave a lively, informative and engaging commentary during the 45 minute trip. The location houses an on site gift shop, pub near by serving food and drinks, visitor centre, picnic areas, plus a tearoom located further along the bank. Plus several footpaths, ideal to explore the area further. One of which lead to Llangollen definitely one to explore during our next visit.

This was brilliant. Always good to walk over something slightly scary, but not as bad as I thought it was going to be. Great views and a constant supply of canal boats going across it. There are some walks locally to get some other views of it. It’s situated at Trevor basin that has a refreshment barge and toilets, a disabled car park and other car park. There’s a pub on the other side of the canal and a place where you can hire boats for the day. A nice big of Telford history.

Not much to say that hasn’t already been said but it’s an absolute must visit for anyone coming to Llangollen even if it’s just for an hour. A short walk from the long-stay car park down the river basin brings you to the aqueduct. It’s narrow but more than workable.

Decided to visit here as I was in the area. Absolutely loved the views. It's £3 to park but that covers you for all day. Lots of steps and climbs, but you are rewarded with some stunning scenery. Would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area

Amazing experience to go over the Aquaduct in a narrow boat! Even better the weather was good too! Just as long as you're not scared of heights as there's nothing one side and a footpath and rail for walkers the other side. Fabulous views across the valley though.

Great place for a few hours out, long walks and good scenery, plenty of places to stop and get a drink or snack and plenty of parking in main carparks

It was great walking across this aquaduct. The view were spectacular. The thought of what they did to build this is overwhelming. That it is still standing, and still serving it's purpose is amazing.

This amazing feat of Georgian engineering is definitely worth a visit, whether on foot or on a canal boat. The aqueduct is an impressive 38 metres high, making it the tallest said structure in the world, and the views from the top over the beautiful Welsh landscape are truly stunning. Do be advised that although there is a footpath on the aqueduct, it is quite narrow, and owing to the great height it is advisably not for those faint of heart. Nevertheless, if you don't feel confident walking across the aqueduct you can always walk beneath it, or even view it from afar. If anything, I personally believe viewing it from a distance is the best way to experience it. The bridge is adjacent to a stunning park with dense woodland, hiking paths and a pleasant, tranquil atmosphere, especially in the warm summer months. Overall I strongly recommend visiting, for its World Heritage Site status is truly well earned.

Such a feat of engineering and a great experience to travel over the Aqueduct. Worth doing it on foot and canal boat to get a different perspective. Great views, good visitor centre and miles of flat walks to enjoy along the canal path. Well worth a visit.

An absolutely stunning place but not for the ones afraid of heights. It is a great architectural marvel and magnificent sight. There are a few trails which you can explore or rent a boat and cross the aqueduct as per its purpose. There is a small shop nearby with refreshments.

Interesting place. Great time with family. For me, traveling on a cruise ship was an additional attraction, but I think a kayak would be more adventurous. I couldn't find the toilets, although they are there, I didn't see any signs.

What a beautiful, amazing experience this place was. To actually walk across an engineering masterpiece built 100+ years ago was inspiring. The views are incredible and the walks alongside canal is peaceful, fab to see the barge's navigate too. Well worth a visit.

We enjoyed an hour or so watching the canal boats navigating the crossing. Nice information centre with video showing how the aqueduct was made, and containing lots of exhibits for its size. A selection of drinks and snacks could also be bought. We parked, getting an all day ticket for £3. Enjoyed the walk over the aqueduct, but a head for heights is needed 😊

Spectacular! Beautiful views down the Dee valley from a great vantage point. Awesome piece of engineering that has stood the test of the elements and wear. Also, great facilities including toilets, cafe, boat trips, pub and easy access parking. Many lovely walks along the canal for miles around with friendly people saying hello. Great place to stop off.

The aqueduct is astonishing. I was expecting it to stick up in the air but didn't realise we were level with the top. Of course we were, as the canal runs along the top of it. We saw a narrow boat coming towards it as we crossed. It is an amazing feat of engineering, 200 years old. Beautiful views too.

It was a nice place to visit for an outing. Nice views. A good place to have a walk in nature. Must have boots or trekking shoes as the routes for walking are muddy and slippery throughout. Worth visiting.

A lovely place to stop off on our travels through North Wales. Car park is massive and easily accommodates everyone. There is a nice visitor centre and toilets only a short walk from the car park and aqueduct. Some nice picture opportunities and viewpoints on the visitor centre side by following the sighs to go down to the left of the aqueduct instead of straight across it. Enough space on the aqueduct to pass people but it can be tight. The gaps in the railings are a bit on the bigger side so keep small dogs and small kids close by.

An amazing sight, incredible views though be careful if you aren’t keen on heights when walking across. Boats are available though! Parking is convenient, and good price too, £3.30 all day, separate blue badge car park a stones throw from the viaduct and visitor centre.

Stunning Aqueduct with fantastic views for miles around. There are also some lovely walks around the river and canal which give some great views of the Aqueduct. Definitely worth a visit. There is also a great pub (The Telford) just a short walk away which has outdoor seating and decent food.

What an amazing place to visit. Educational, spectacular views and an experience walking from one side to the other. Parking nearby, gift shop, boat hire and a museum where you can learn how the aqueduct was built. A pub with good food added into the mix.

Pontocysylite aqueduct is a spectacular structure Victorian engineering at its best. Well worth a visit especially if you visit the local town of Llangollen. Its a 4 mile walk or short drive away. Walking over the via isn't fir those who are afraid of heights and the footpath is very narrow .but I'd highly recommend you visit this structure there is also good local amenities if you wish to spend the day there enjoying the view's.

There’s a very good reason why our 'stream in the sky', Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and 11 miles of the Llangollen canal is a UNESCO World Heritage Site (that means it's as important as the Taj Mahal). And it's not just the view… Taking the Llangollen Canal across the River Dee valley in North Wales, the aqueduct is one of the most awesome engineering feats on the canal network. You can walk across the aqueduct or save your legs and go by boat - remember to bring your camera and a head for heights!😎😎 I wonderful visit with the family don't look down !! 🤣🤣

My tip is arrive early or it gets busy across the aqueduct, with people squeezing past each other. Nice little information centre and great to see free public loos. Good spot to watch the narrowboats coming across and making the tight turn to continue up to Llangollen.

Beautiful 😍 views on a lively sunny day, from looking off the Aqueduct and up at it. It is well signed in terms of finding the route to the aqueduct by road and on foot. The kids and my partner all had a wonderful walk around the area. Best to wear walking boots or something sturdy for going off the beaten track. Still a bit muddy...

My one grumble is the carpark charge. We had two days in Wales and didn't pay one charge being on a blue badge. Not here. Gripe over, the whole area was clean and graffiti free. The towpath easily walked and the Aquaduct is amazing. A steady walk over rewarded us with great views and lefts us wondering about it's construction how many years ago. Well done Mr Telford, an excellent achievement. Well worth a visit and sod the charge, I would go again.

It's a world heritage site, so it's quite touristy. Unfortunately the aqueduct was closed, so we were unable to walk across. However, there is a nice walk along the river down to a country park. I think it would be a nice place to visit in the warmer weather.

Dubbed “the stream in the sky”, the impressive Pontcysyllte Aqueduct towers over the River Dee in Wales. Designed by engineers Thomas Telford and William Jessop in the late 18th century, it took a staggering 10 years to build and is considered a pioneering masterpiece of the Industrial Revolution. Today, the stone and iron arched bridge and 11 miles (17.7km) of picturesque canal are a UNESCO-listed attraction, mostly used by narrowboats but also by pedestrians as it's possible to cross on foot.

Worth a visit, although I wasn't brave enough to walk across it because it was far too busy for me to attempt it. If like me you're not fond of heights then maybe walking across is not such a good idea 😬

Fascinating Aquduct, longest and tallest in UK, and world heritage site, can either cross it by narrow boat or walk along the tow path. Probably best to avoid on a windy day.

  • 5/5 Marc T. 1 year ago on Google
Very nice and unusual place. The tiny boats are crossing a deep valley on the bridge which is a actually a canal. A 1/2 mile walk links 2 zones of pubs and car park. Along the canal, some barges are a nice pub-bar, another one a is a flea market, and some other one are static or long-time mooring houses. Closes at 4pm, Toilets available on the disable car-park and at Telford In on the other side of the canal.

Lovely place and a must visit especially if you are in the area. Fantastic engineering and on a vast scale. Easy parking, usual facilities. Only a short stop here on our way through, but glad we did.

An amazing feat of engineering that still takes your breathe away even today. The walk across isn’t for the faint hearted, especially when you meet others coming the other way; there are only so many times you can hang onto the handrail and let others pass! A great way to spend a few hours getting fresh air and taking in the local views.

Such a great place with some fabulous walks with beautiful views. I followed the 4.5 circular walk from the Internet. Really enjoyed it. 2nd time I've done it in 2 different seasons. I would recommend. Also the car park at the Aqueduct is cheap and there are clean public toilets too.

Great view from long boat tour. Really amazing. After, Drive to turning point of long boat and visit the quaint little cafe. Well worth the trip.

This is one of those places that you have to visit to admire the feat of engineering. As a World Heritage Site it acknowledges the achievement in building this structure. The views are wonderful. A place not to be missed. However take care crossing the aqueduct it is not the widest footpath but definitely worth the effort.

  • 5/5 Em's 2 years ago on Google
The 18-arched stone and cast iron bridge is used for narrowboats and was completed in 1805. It is 12 ft (3.7 metres) wide and is the longest aqueduct in Great Britain and the highest canal aqueduct in the world. A footpath runs alongside the watercourse on one side. If you are scared of heights I might not walk on here. It is a long way up. However the views are incredible and to watch a boat go along it is just amazing. A lovely place for a picnic. There is a cafe and toilets. Plus a pay & display car park.

  • 5/5 Mick M. 2 years ago on Google
A man made high spot, literally, on the Offa's Dyke Path a route that is a constant stream of high spots. The main difference is the number of people you encounter. Prepare to risk getting wet as you struggle through crowds of photographers and cycle pushers inhabiting the narrow path alongside the canal. Is it worth it? Oh yes, definitely. We were passing through, heading North, but if you have time to wander take the circular walk along and under this masterpiece of engineering.

  • 5/5 Corina B. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent place to go for a walk on top of the aquaduct. While walking, next to us, it was the canal and there were narrow boats with passengers on it. Great experience, seeing everything from almost 40 metres high.

  • 5/5 Dai D. 2 years ago on Google
I have to make a declaration straight off. Trevor is my home village… where I spent my childhood. The aqueduct is of course now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A truly magnificent engineering feat (Thomas Telford) known as the ‘stream in the sky’. If you get the chance take a narrow boat over… but don’t look 👀 down. So proud that it is now fully appreciated.. there were years where it was not.

A great experience walking over this Aquaduct although the path us narrow, not much room to let people pass. Stunning views. Recommended. The Chapel Tea Rooms near by is the perfect place for lunch.

Shame we went too late to have a boat trip but love walk over the aqua duct. Brilliant views.

  • 5/5 Leonie D. 1 year ago on Google
It's high and long and a lovely break from the bit before and Trefor basin where there was a very grumpy shop man in a boat. The aqueduct itself is interesting and the swallows around it fascinating. Not ideal of you're scared of heights though! Little que to get on but mostly well managed by boat driver (should add that we didn't do this on foot but via canal boat)

  • 5/5 Nicole Y. 1 year ago on Google
There's free street parking just opposite the entrance of it's not busy, would recommend going late in the evening (in summer) so far there aren't as many people around. The view is amazing with two other bridges you can spot on their side of the aqueduct. You have to walk under the canal bridge to get round to the bridge to cross the canal inside the Anglo Welsh boat rental place. It's well worth a look but for those who fear heights just beware as it's pretty tight and the gaps in the bars aren't good for children as they could definitely fall!

  • 4/5 Tania L. 1 year ago on Google
Lovely and peaceful, parked in the village it was late afternoon and nice and quiet! People we met who were visiting were really friendly! Not for the faint hearted if your planning on walking over the Aquaduct! Worth visiting!

  • 5/5 Mark K. 1 year ago on Google
The staff on the canal boat to over the aqueduct were fantastic.it cost £10 each Although if you are in a wheelchair you will need to be able to stand and manage about 5 steps in to the boat. However you can walk across for free but it might be a bit scary in a wheelchair. There are some nice walks around and tea rooms etc.

It is a masterpiece of engineering genius! Amazing experience walking on the aqueduct with the kids. Stunning view - the river, the trees, beautiful. My four kids ranged 4-14years old really enjoyed it. The parking fee was £3/day. There was also a public toilet there.

Some nice areas to walk around the aqueduct and of course you can walk across it too. Paths were clearly marked and theres sign posts guiding you. Great views all around from upon the aqueduct and you can find some nice views from below too. Great short walk!

  • 4/5 It.Is. P. 10 months ago on Google
Unique and spectacular aqueduct. It is very narrow therefore we did not dare walk across to the other side. You can go underneath and admire it from the level of river Dee. There is huge parking for blue badge holders and some places you can pay upon arrival. Local cafes/shops for food and drink.

  • 5/5 Cheryl C. 9 months ago on Google
Really enjoyed the narrowboat ride across the aqueduct with commentary. We then walked across and back too to see a different perspective. Fantastic views and very interesting to find out about the engineering and building of the aqueduct. There are tools and components on display in the visitor centre.

  • 4/5 A V. 11 months ago on Google
Short walk from the carpark. Nice visitor centre. Friendly welcoming staff at the visitor centre. Awesome engineering. Amazing views. The path along the bridge is accessible by foot or via a canal boat (charges apply fir the boat). The footpath is narrow and pushchair accessible IF you have a narrow pushchair. Not for the fainthearted but the views are absolutely worth it. Dont forget to take the stepped path down to the river edge. Very peaceful and tranquil.
