Really enjoyed our visit to Conwy Castle despite the wet weather! Unusual to see a castle not ruined by touristy additions, one way systems or displays at every turn. All in all, a very authentic experience. Entry wasn't unreasonable (£30 for two adults and a child) and there was no queue to enter. Lots of different areas to explore including the castle walls before you pay to enter. Took us around an hour to walk around it all. There are toilets at the entrance. There are a few places nearby to park, which all seem to be around £4 for 4 hours. Certainly worth a visit.

This castle is a spectacular sight in Conwy. Climbing to the top of the towers does involves navigating some steep and narrow stairs. Give the age of the castle this is to be expected. The views from the top are spectacularly beautiful. If height is your phobia then please don’t look down. This is a large site so depending on how much you are planning to see, you should budget for around 3.5 hours to see the best bits and snap of photos.. Finding the castle was easy and parking was plentiful. However, we arrived at 10:30 and by 13:00 the car park was full. I paid around £4.50 for six hours parking!! Whilst you are here consider paying a visit to Britain smaller house!! For a small fee of only £1.50 you are getting the chance to walk through the doors of this miniature living space.

One of the most beautiful place I have been to recently. I went there by end of day. I reached there by 4.15 and got in last. But I have explored most of all doors and all the towers. The best views from top of the towers and I suggest all to try get on to last tower near to the water. The view is amazing from there. I went to Conwy castle with my friends and we had really great time there. It has a calming view. There were paintings of the castles from 1600s and it shows the history of the place. I wanted to know further history of the castle and was not able to find in the flyer they provided with ticket. Visiting historical place and not able to learn the history from the sight is sad. But it was a awesome trip and worth the ticket money.

It's a breathtaking castle! The view from the top of its towers is stunning! We were very lucky that it was dry so we were able to have a pleasant time there. It's not a huge castle so 1.30h is more than enough for this visit. It has also a nice shop at the entrance if you wanna take a souvenir with you. It's a must!!

Beautiful Castle. From the outside it really is very impressive. The views from the towers are amazing. I felt an audio guide could have been a real asset as there isn’t that much information. I A really well preserved castle, considering the castle is over 700 years old. Beautiful old castle and ruins that gives you a good insight into that time period in history. Good views of Conwy, town centre and river. Big gift shop and a good place to find some nice souvenirs. It’s very good value and really worth a visit.

A brilliant castle to visit. The towers and the walls were really high, but despite my fear, I went up and walked around the castle walls and the town wall. Stunning views from the castle too. Loved seeing every bit of it and took far too many photos.

It's a really nice castle built in 1283 and was built for Edward 1 . Such an old castle . Wow 😯 It's from the medieval times i believe . But unfortunate thing was that it has not been taken care of so well. You only got to see towers up and down but no furniture or anyother thing was preserved which is utterly sad !! Going up and down was a bit tiring though . Quiet some areas are broken and some pieces fallen and destroyed . They just marked the castle areas like KING'S BED , A WATER WELL etc !! But when you go into the towers the stairs are quiet small and steep so you need to be careful about it . Although most of the castle areas were either fallen off or destroyed like fire places fallen off but still you can see the room for the church and the place where king use to listen to the church sessions and prayers ! It really takes you to the medieval times and you think of how they use to live with no perfect clean bathrooms and no electricity !! The view was beautiful and outstanding . The walls were so old and the you can see the city that is built along the sides of the castle. I wish they can restore more and if they would have restored most if it previously .. But overall nice visit for history lovers and castle fans because this is a reminder of medieval times though. The area around the castle is beautiful with scenic views and oldest houses !

Wonderful day out, in and around the castle. A walk around the walls, which surround the Castle bring you wonderful views, although the wall walk is not for those unsteady on their feet. The castle is great to walk around, and brings you great views from the Tower tops.

Went Yesterday, was an amazing experience getting to see the castle and all the rooms that were still intact. The Chapel area is beautiful, with lovely stain glass windows. I would recommend anyone with a love of Castles, visits here. You will have a great time.

£36 for a family ticket, when we went in at 10am there was a jester who did a juggling act, a story teller and a magician all really good and worth seeing. They made it all so much better than just seeing the ruins. The castle is good though and worth a visit. You can access the castles town walls for free and can pretty much walk completely round them.

Very intact castle, large site, plenty to explore, and a nice gift shop. Got some amazing views from the tops of the towers. It's also near a town so we were able to go and get lunch from a local bakery, and coffee from a local coffee shop. Was a lovely way to spend the day.

This spot was very impressive. There was incredible history as you walked around, and the structure was in great shape. You could really get an idea of how the castle was lived in and wandering around pretty much all aspects of the castle — including the turrets and more. The views were also fantastic. Parking was pretty easy and inexpensive, though this was a weekday off peak. There was a couple of cafes and obligatory gift shop where you buy entry tickets, and staff were very friendly. I’d highly recommend if you’re in the area; it’s worth it.

Nice couple of hours visit to Conwy Castle. There are some nice views to be had. Also walked around the city walls which was nice and the weather was kind so that's always a plus 😊

Magnificent 13th century medieval castle with spectacular views. There is also the castle outside wall that surrounds the whole town. Wonderful town with lots of real character. Plentiful car parking 🅿️ nearby. Good toilet facilities. Gift shop with reasonable prices. No cafe, but just outside there are two wonderful cafes serving good food and drinks. Highly recommended a visit to this fabulous medieval castle. Took us about 1.5 hours to explore round and climb the many towers etc. There’s also a suspension footbridge leading to the castle, also train line and the main road that leads to the castle and town. Could maybe do with an audio tour or maybe more placement signs explaining each of the rooms, there are a few of these but not enough to fully understand the castle and it’s layout. Overall fantastic Medieval Castle 🏰! And definitely worth a visit. At our time of visit in April 2023 adult admission was £11.50. Small que to get in at about 11am midweek.

Tickets are not expensive, but there is nothing to watch except for panoramas. But the views are amazing! 🤩Going around everything inside will take about 1h-1.5h You can also optionally walk along the wall of the castle itself. Parking is small and very inconvenient for large cars🙈 Not allowed with pets 😏

Majestic castle, definitely worth a visit. Plenty of area to explore with walks along the walls providing great views. There is a long section of wall that is free to walk on whilst entry into the main area is around £12. The castle itself is spectacular and provides an authentic feel. The guidance inside could be better as it easy to aimlessly wonder around and miss out on the key sections of the castle. Regardless, would recommend the castle for sure.

Stayed in Conwy for the new year. The Castle is an amazing sight especially when it appears from the darkness at night as you drive over the bridge. Spent a fair few hours exploring it during the day and I was so glad I did.

Lovely castle, slightly underwhelming as there isn’t much to it aside from ruins and no audiotape. Lovely views all around. But you are Heavily reliant on your imagination, would be great if parts were rebuilt, or acrylic with illustrations were bought in or replica parts / furniture was there to bring it back to life. Lovely shop and cafe.

Lovely place to go to whenever you're nearby. Went to Wales for a weekend and decided to see what it was like, we were not disappointed at all. Beautiful castle with beautiful views. Just be careful when going up the towers haha.

An enormous castle with so many places to explore. A great way to spend a few hours. I should imagine that it's ram packed in the summer as it's definitely a must see for tourists.

This is such a great castle. it's not a ruin so you can walk around and up to the top. It has the feel of an old castle and the labels and information around help get a feel of what was going on in those rooms. I've been a couple of times and have walked around the town walls etc to enjoy the views. The town has plenty in it for all ages to eat, drink and explore in happiness.

Amazing piece of history and very intact compared to a lot of castles. A must-see if you're in the area. Made us feel like two big kids exploring! Well worth the entrance fee. The view from the tower is amazing, you can see a lot of Conwy and it's a great view of the castle grounds.

If you're visiting Conwy, you can't miss the castle. The castle walls are accessible in some areas and offer great view points of the surrounding area. Parking is available a very short walk away, and there is a good selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and more available nearby.

Beautiful part of the country. Conwy is wonderful. Townspeople are very nice. Amazing sense of history — this castle is 1,000 years old.

  • 5/5 Emma C. 7 months ago on Google
Great day out if you love castles and the town has lots of history so you really do need a full day to be able to enjoy everything Conwy has to offer. Not wheelchair or pushchair friendly, as you can imagine there is a lot of steps along the way.

  • 4/5 Nanda 7 months ago on Google
Very impressive castle with great walls and towers. Views over the River Conwy (with its beautiful suspension bridge by Thomas Telford) and Conwy itself. Not suitable for wheelchair users. Steep ramp into the castle. Lots of steps and once you're in the castle there are cobble stones to contend with. Give this one a miss if you have difficulty walking, alas.

  • 5/5 Stephen H. 4 months ago on Google
Great old castle, all in ruins but you can still climb one of the towers and walk along the castle wall. Steeped in history. An hour or two is plenty of time to see it all then drinks and a meal at one of the pubs or restaurants. Brilliant.

  • 5/5 Tim H. 10 months ago on Google
Awesome Castle, especially loved the views from top of towers. You can walk up all 8 towers. Pretty intact for it's age. Great vista of the surrounding countryside.

Conwy Castle is a must visit if you're going to North Wales. There's lots to see and you can go into the Castle and also go up into the battlements and the towers. The Castle has a rich history dating back to the conquest of wales by Edward I. The town is also extremely nice which sits in the Castle walls so you can definitely make a whole day out of a visit.

My husband and I went in December , so off prime tourist season. It was absolutely spectacular!! Highly recommended you visit this place if you can. The castle is breathtaking and in very good condition , and the town is so lovely as well. So much to see here and enjoy .

This Castle is one of the best Medieval castles we have ever visited and steeped with history . If your into Edward the 1st , this is the one to visit . Very atmospheric indeed . Very good guide book can be purchased. Good information boards in most areas too . Great for kids education . Highly recommended 👌

Europe's oldest castle - huge, great free entry walls to walk on top of, great views. The staff inside the shop/ticket area are friendly and offer plenty of info. A great day out not to be missed.

  • 4/5 Shikha S. 5 months ago on Google
A small castle with not much inside, but it offers a fantastic view of the town from the top of the tower. It's definitely worth a one-time visit. You can freely walk through the castle walls.

A brilliant visit to the castle today. Quick and easy to get in, even with it being super busy. We managed to see every part of the castle. Great for adults and kids and amazing sights to see. Not very disabled accessible but it’s an old castle

We spent a good two and a half hours within Conwy Castle taking in the fantastic views from atop the towers. Meandering through this majestic castle is awe inspiring. This has to be one of the best castles I have ever visited. Well worth waiting 40 years before I had the chance to visit. The gift shop is also full of worthy, (and not so worthy), items to purchase. The castle is set in the enchanting medieval town of the same name and is full of interesting buildings and shops. Amazing and I cannot wait to return.

  • 5/5 Sharon C. 8 months ago on Google
Amazing experience. I did pre book tickets but don't think you have to. The jesters, wizard and story teller was amazing laughed so much. Castle is absolutely stunning. We stayed near the castle lovely location.

Beautiful example of castle ruins. Parking close by where you can pay by cash or via an app. Accessible from the car park via steps or a ramp suitable for pram or wheelchair. There is a castle gift shop and a cafe right outside.

  • 5/5 Rachel R. 7 months ago on Google
Thanks to restored spiral staircases in its great towers you can walk a complete circuit around the battlements of Conwy Castle. Highly recommend it, however it is taxing on the legs. This is one of the most magnificent medieval fortresses in Europe. Shop slightly bigger than at other Cadw properties so selection is more linked to the castle. Toilets are below the shop at the entrance so it's a bit of a walk from the furthest end of the castle.

  • 5/5 Mark A. 7 months ago on Google
Superb castle dominating Conwy's landscape. Well worth the entrance fee. Stunning views from every angle. The wall walk is a treat and many of the interior walls are still intact. Toilets and the usual gift shop at entrance/exit. A must.

  • 5/5 Joanne P. 7 months ago on Google
Visited with friends, entry £23 for 2 x adults. Went round the ruins and up the towers to see dome good views. Nice gift shop but very pricey. All the ruins are outdoors, no rooms left intact to see and not much in the way of grounds yo walk around, but well worth a visit.

Had a lovely day to close down our holiday in North Wales. On the way home we stopped off in Conwy, which is a beautiful place full of things to do. The castle is amazing, and the walls are lovely to walk across. No problem getting in,, and plenty of space to move around. Worth a visit.

What a fabulous Medieval Castle to visit. Highly recommended. Lots of Towers to climb and ramparts to walk along. Beautiful views. Loads of hidden chambers. A well preserved Castle complimented by a wall surrounding the City

An amazing day out. Conwy Castle beautiful & interesting, ice cream beautiful, gift shop cheapish & cafe next door to Castle where we had a variety of hot & cold drinks & sandwiches/toasties all were lovely. Can't wait to go bk to Wales will defo visit again.

  • 5/5 Angela D. 8 months ago on Google
Lovely day at the castle. There were lots of areas to explore and many information signs around the castle which explained more about the history, very interesting to read. Amazing views in every direction when you reach the top of the towers. My 10 year old also loved it.

  • 5/5 David I. 8 months ago on Google
Lovely castle with great views even in the rain. Worth battling past the American tour parties and making your way round. Stunning views over the bay and around the town from the wall walk. Probably not that accessible for people who can't manage spiral stairs.

  • 5/5 Mark B. 8 months ago on Google
Fascinating place, really well preserved, and the views you get from the towers are stunning! The only piece of advice I'd give is you might want to avoid taking small children. We took our 2 youngest and it was a bit hairy watching them looking over edge of walls and coming down the spiral staircases of the towers 😬

  • 5/5 Craig W. 8 months ago on Google
Would 100% recommend a visit. Such a monumental building and great fun to wander around and explore - it's a bit like a rabbit warren. Very well maintained and has stunning views from the top of each of the five or so towers that are accessible to visitors. It's slightly steep at >£11 for an adult, but I gather that annual membership is quite good value for money. The ruins cannot be cheap to maintain, either.

  • 4/5 Nicholas H. 7 months ago on Google
I enjoyed having a look around the castle. It was quite scary going up the biggest towers. There were lovely views on top. There were some plaques which explained a little bit about the history and some historically inspired works of art.

  • 5/5 SOPHIE J. 8 months ago on Google
Beyond brilliant, great family day out! Lots to do and see. So much history . The views from the towers are incredible, even on a rainy day !!!

  • 5/5 Mike and Moira B. 9 months ago on Google
A surprisingly large, sprawling castle that integrates into Conwy town and harbour. Even the footbridge has been sympathetically joined on. Car park is a little small but the town is as well, so you can park in various places and walk to the castle, catching different parts of it on route. Around £11 for adults, you can spend a few hours strolling around, although there are a fair few steep and narrow round staircases to negotiate for the first and subsequent levels. There's not too much in the way of exhibits, the castle is open and bare, bar a few statues/sculptures. Well equipped gift shop and a café just outside.

  • 4/5 AL P. 6 months ago on Google • 2 reviews
Beautiful Castle on Outside and a lovely walk around the castle and town on the top of the surrounding castle walls are all free and have great views. Inside of the castle is very basic and the standard ruins but not a great deal of info and things to read and gain knowledge about the actual castle inside. But nice views of the bridges from inside the castle and also the town and surrounding bay area.
