Just returned from a weekend at this hotel and honestly cannot praise it enough!! The hotel is currently undergoing a refurb but the room we stayed in hadn’t as yet been done. However it was perfectly adequate for our needs. I did see a room that was redone and it was beautiful. The owner Nick goes above and beyond to help his guests. As no restaurant available he provides glasses microwave etc so that you can cater for yourselves. The small lounge and sun verandah are just fantastic if u want to sit, eat with a wonderful view of the beach and sea. Me and my friend will definitely be returning here as soon as we can!! Thank you Nick. See you again soon!

Fantastic choice for our last minute reservation. lovely rooms, and ideal for kids. Recommend rooms 17 & 18 (joint rooms) if you have 2/3 kids.

We were looking for somewhere not too expensive to spend a couple of days and found The Royal Clarence Hotel, after reading the reviews it seemed to be just what we were looking for. We were not disappointed, we had an en-suite room facing the sea it was very clean, nicely decorated, good roomy shower, large television, good Wi-Fi, tea/coffee, two fans, hairdryer. Everything we needed. There was limited parking outside the hotel, but if that was taken there was ample roadside parking. I would recommend this hotel, Nick the owner was a great chap to deal with, very helpful and I am pleased we chose his hotel to stay in. From here we visited Western Super Mare and The Cheddar Gorge and enjoyed our two day break.

We really loved our stay here last weekend, there was access to most things you might need microwave etc. Very cosy room that we both thoroughly enjoyed with everything nearby, for example the promenade being directly outside. The only downside is that you can hear the other guests on your floor if there are no efforts to be quiet but that’s not of the hotels fault. Overall it was amazing

Our room was fab, excellent view of the sea front (plenty of people watching 👀 😀) Bathroom gold 🌟 Everything thing you need within walking distance. OK a little noise from people shutting, whoops sorry slamming their doors but that's not down to the hotel but down to actual people's respect for others lol Definately recommend and will definitely be returning, host was very informative, welcoming and made you feel at home ....thanks Nick 👍👍

Clean hotel. Limited parking space. however can park opposite the Hotel, parking meter can pay online. Unlimited tea, instant coffee. Can refill if needed. Close to breakfast restaurants. The hot water was difficult to adjust. But got there in the end. Check out time is 10am. Nick kindly called is as we were out for breakfast. We stayed one night. Thank you Ellie & Nick for your hospitality x

Really nice sea view room, able to cool it down with 2 big windows. Large bathroom with a window, literally loo with a view! Big walk in shower too. Bed very comfortable. Only negatives were for a lighter duvet as it was summer and i felt the bed linen could have been softer but hubby said it was fine. The room was dark enough to sleep however beyond the hotels control was the noise outside. 5 kids at 3am walking up and down the road talking loudly for well over an hour kept us awake. Then the seagulls started up screeching and calling it was a cacophony of sound. We would highly recommend a ceiling fan is added so that we could have closed the bedroom window. There is plenty of ceiling height to do this. The key card system was very effective and safe. We liked that there were drink and snack vending machines in the lobby and the microwave and cutlery provided could prove handy for some guests. Overall room great but outside factors sadly meant a poor sleep.

Stayed overnight on a journey further south. Very clean and cosy just check out the parking instructions at reception. Great location too. A bar and food would make this place fabulous. Would stay again definitely.

The owner and his wife are very friendly, chatty and accommodating. Our room was clean and tidy with tea, coffee, milk & sugar supplied and the use of a microwave downstairs to warm food up (which was useful) we booked a sea view room which was pleasant to wake and see the sea. I expect through covid months this couple would of been challenged and I wish them all the best for the future.

Amazing first stay and will be back. Booking was simple and affordable, the lady that met us was super friendly and helpful. The room (twin - number 6) was very clean and well equipped. We can't fault it and would highly recommend.

Can't rate my stay as we didn't make it but if the customer service I received over the phone today is anything to go by I'd say avoid! Booked for this Saturday as a stop gap but unfortunately I've tested posted for covid. I called the hotel and was told even if I had booked direct (used booking.com) he wouldn't refund me as it was within a week before check in date, his tone was uprupt and he sounded anoyed at the mere fact id called to ask! Next time I'll either ask covid not be so inconvenient or just go and infect everyone else at the hotel.

It wasn't family friendly. We had to climb a really steep steps with 3y old , also been also difficult to carry luggage as it was narrow. Parking is free but space not available. Refurbishment was in process on the roof so by the entrance there was a container full of rubbish. Wifi slow and waiting 20 mon for hot water in the ahower.Alarm went off in the night with no apologise.

Hotel was great , arrived just after 6pm and staff was great with us turning up late,on the first night all great and as we was late we went and got ourselves 2 pizza,s only had just half each so we left in box,s on floor and would have them on the sat lunchtime and we went out come back to find our room was cleaned even though we didn't hang sign out on door for it but nice to see they did anyway but we found out to our cost the cleaner took away our 2 pizza boxes with pizza inside so we lost our lunch and around £12 of food left not happy so we had to go bk out and get more food when come bk reception closed with sign on bk in 20 mins come bk a bit later still shut so thought we would see then on next day of check out but again shut, also we could not have shower the sat night as it was cold, and toilet took several times to flush away properly

We stayed at The Royal Clarence Hotel last weekend, which although was spotless, ruined our weekend due to issues with our toilet on the first night. We told the owner the next morning and  was told off aggressively for using the toilet & was also told there were no other toilets in the hotel we could use. This was our second & final visit to The Royal Clarence Hotel & will not be visiting again.

Rooms are basic but clean. Lots of stairs to get anywhere and there is very little parking for guests
