See and experience trams from Sydney's past. It was $20 for an adult to enter and this includes unlimited tram rides. On the day I went there were 2 different trams running and you could choose to ride one to the National Park, or to Sutherland (or both!). There is also a large hall showcasing historical trams that used to operate in Sydney and surrounds. In addition, there is a small souvenir store and a small kiosk. If you are just a casual member of the public and want to ride a tram or two plus have a bit of a look at the exhibition hall then plan to spend 1.5 to 2 hours here.

A hidden gem!!! Sydney Tramway Museum is a must to do in Sydney, NSW, offering a unique collection of rolling stock. Easy access with public transport (1 min walk from Loftus Train Station). Free car park on spot (30-45 min drive from City). Entry fee is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Don't doubt and enjoy the beauty of past.

Spectacular and special for transportation lovers and history buffs. This is a treat of a location for experiencing history as we live and breathe. Excellent storage maintenance and collection of a large number of tram cars and other vintage vehicles. This place is a ticketed entry. Located just beside Loftus station.

A wonderful volunteer-run museum filled with many artifacts from the now-extinct Sydney Tramway Network. The entry fee also includes as many rides on the operating trams on the day of your visit. There are special entry fees when there are special events, such as the Annual Sydney Tramway Festival. The trams run on a dedicated line that extends into the Royal National Park. Riders can disembark at the Royal National Park and visit the National Park if they so wish. There are a number of picnic tables (where you can enjoy your own BYO lunch) located at the Tram Museum under and around the old Railway Square Waiting Station, which was relocated from Railway Square in Sydney CBD to the Museum many years ago. A small kiosk on site sells refreshments, such as soft drinks, juice, chips and ice creams. The Display Hall houses a number of significant heritage items, including trams from overseas and from other parts of Australia. Many of the trams are kept in running condition and can be operated by the museum volunteers; indeed, on the day I visited, I was able to ride a Melbourne tram that was retired in the 1970's and a Brisbane Tram that was decommissioned in the 1960's! Be sure to look at the very unique Prison Tram in the display hall. The volunteers appear to work tirelessly to maintain and upgrade the museum. Their subject matter knowledge appears to be quite extensive, and the volunteers I encountered were eager, friendly and helpful. Children were encouraged to learn more about the trams and the history of the old tram networks that operated those trams.

Went here with a group of 35. They opened specially for us and we took 2 trips to the Royal National Park station. One in a Sydney tram and the other in a Melbourne tram. Very knowledgeable volunteers who were able to answer all our questions Very interesting exhibits in the museum.

A great place to visit if you're interested in history, transport or enjoy looking at beautiful old public transport vehicles. The volunteers are very friendly and knowledgeable. You can ride a lovingly restored hundred year old tram across the Princes Highway level crossing to the historic Royal National Park station above Audley. What a wonderful way to hear that old ding ding ding!

At the outset ,my deepest appreciations to Mr Timothy, for his enthusiasm, in explaining each and every exhibit 2 hrs wasn't sufficient to see this place in full. Superbly restored and maintained collections. All staff in calssic tramways uniform is a feast to the eyes. The ride to Royal National Park is out of the world experience.

A little gem of a museum. Amazing collection of beautifully restored old tram cars and memorabilia from a bygone era of Sydney’s public transport. Great place for a family day out with unlimited rides on some old trams included with the entrance fee.

Tram rides are amazing, they have an incredible indoor museum display too. I highly recommend taking a tram trip to Sutherland then up to the Royal National Park, where you can alight and explore the trails.

Tramway museum located in Loftus NSW. About 30-45 mins drive from Sydney CBD. Can catch a train to Loftus station but it is a fair distance from train station to the museum, catch a taxi or bus. Or drive by car as plenty of parking is close by the museum. See their website for more details. Plenty to see about the history of trams in Sydney and from other states. See website for details about tram rides and open days. Please feel free to click on helpfull or ask me a question. Thanks

Great experience visiting this place. Had rides on the vintage tram to sutherland and national park. Very comprehensive displays too! When purchasing tickets, the person-in-charge was very impatient. He didnt really scan my dine n discover voucher and said it is invalid. I insisted trying again then it worked. He was very rude to the young helper too. Unsure why but no matter what reasons, i dont think he should behave like that in front of all the visitors. I understand they are volunteers. If he has no good mood on the day maybe should just take a day off.

There is a nice souvenir shop and picnic area and a little kiosk for drinks, ice cream and chips and a great museum with nice trams for the kids to explore and a lot of history. Easy to get to by train it stops right next to the museum. Was fun riding on the old tram. Lots of old trams in the museum that have been saved by the fantastic volunteers who have renovated them. Lots of information about the trams and trolly buses and 100s of old photos which were really interesting to look at. Big kids and little kids would love it here

Tramway museum located in Loftus NSW. About 30-45 mins drive from Sydney CBD. Can catch a train to Loftus station and walk from train station to the museum by walkway, catch a taxi or bus. Or drive by car as plenty of parking is close by the museum behind it at loftus station, in parking area besides the cycleway. See their website for more details. Such a great hidden gem! We visited during their annual Vintage Tramway Festival and it was such a delight for both the adults and children! Love that you’re able to walk into various trams to get an up close and personal view of them all, as well as experience some tram rides. I would definitely recommend their Vintage Tramway Festival if you’re able to attend! It felt like we had stepped into a time portal taking us to the early 1900s with the beautiful trams, buses and classic cars on show and in wonderful condition. Such great work by all the volunteers - thank you so much for what you do and for preserving all this great history of bygone Sydney! We thoroughly enjoyed our visit!

Such a cute little museum in Southern Sydney. Has loads of trams (some that you can get in and explore!) a giant bus and unlimited tram rides as long as they run. Fun way to spend an afternoon and enjoy the day. We did see some folks take a picnic to the Royal National Park (that's where one of the tram rides goes into). Definitely something for us to try next. The volunteers here are superb and so polite. Highly recommended.

Loved this place, we had a ball (we were all adults too) it was so interesting learning about the trams in Sydney and seeing all the places that now don’t have them. Also super fun riding in the old trams, admission price was cheap and well worth it for all the effort everyone goes to. Everyone employed or volunteering (I’m pretty sure it’s volunteer run) are so passionate about it all, and have so much knowledge it was a delight to see their passion!

Sydney tramway museum is a real gem in the southern side of Sydney. The museum contains a range of interesting teams and a bus or two, and on the day we went many of them were open for visitors to board. The tram ride was fun- you can go first up the line to Sutherland (about a 15 minute round trip, then it heads up into the start of the Royal National Park. It's not a long journey by any standard, but great fun for kids and very authentic- the doors are open so it's not for the fearful helicopter parent. The volunteers are really helpful and passionate, and the site is fairly compact but really cute and pleasant to have a picnic and just enjoy the vibe. Really fun little adventure.

A little bit interesting and a little bit fun, but falls short of being great. The price to enter the museum itself is a little steep given what you get, which is a lot of very similar trams to walk through, but I also understand that they have bills to pay and are run by volunteers. The tram ride into the National Park is the highlight, especially as you give the waiting motorists a cheesy grin while they are being perturbed at having to stop.

This museum shows a side of Sydney that I may not even know. I didn't know Sydney has one of the largest tram networks in the world. This is in a beautiful part of Sydney surrounds where it's close to the national Park and looks very charming. I wish it is open more often because once the museum is open people seem excited to get close to living history. Enjoy your visit and hope you get a ride in these vintage trams.
