We hired two bikes for the kids and walked around the edge of the reserve with a short detour to the pond, where we saw Newts! Staff were really welcoming and super lovely. Very dog friendly (on the leash). Visited again in April 2023. Would recommend booking for the hire of kids bikes during holidays. We hit it lucky!

Fab place for bug spotting, biking and walking with or without little ones. We go once a week with our bikes and spot lots of different creatures. The hides are fab and filled with info too. Would definitely recommend

Visited here this morning as we are up in Cumbria for the week. This is a lovely nature reserve great for kids on bicycles & go carts which you can hire from here. Free parking & free admission. Lots of seating around so you can sit & relax & watch the world go by x

It was my first visit for an outdoor work event. It took a little finding as it is remote. The reserve has an interesting and painful history that's worth exploring. Such fabulous and totally absorbing surroundings, I must return to explore all the different habitats, views, and wildlife properly. I noted good parking areas as you enter the reserve, walkways, and cycle routes. There's a small centre with toilets and a café area for meals, snacks, and drinks near the car park. There's composting toilets on site, too. This site is accessible so get out and give it a go.

A lovely space for a nature walk. Bike hire available-or take your own of course. Small functional Cafe on site with toilets. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Events throughout the year. Parking available. Members can access site after closing. Wildlife information boards available throughout as well as hides.

I’ve been coming here to ride the bikes and walk my dogs for many years and over that time I’ve seen a lot of wildlife including foxes, deer, hares and buzzards. The cafe is also a good place to relax after a walk. The route round the reserve is also flat and tarmacked so is suitable for wheelchairs.

It's attraction for all families. This place offer: walking trails, cycling, open space, watching nature and wildlife. One important thing - Take with you anti-mosquito spray. We were bitten by horse flies.

Spent a good few hours at Watchtree yesterday and had a great day. Son and nephew loved the carts that can be hired and managed 2 full laps. The bird hide by the lake was a great place to get out of the rain for a while and spot some incredible birds.

Nice walk and nature garden...Cafe looks nice but didn't use it this visit..there's picnic benches ...with nice clean toilets with in cafe...area...there's a good cycle hire charity doing all ranges of bike.. with a practice track before you set off around the park paths are really wide so plenty of room for bikes and walkers. Ideal for kids to learn to ride...wind turbines in the park can be felt and heard when rotating...a good few hrs out..

Great place for walk out with dog and also can hire bikes to explore. Lots of interesting facts to learn on the way round and wildlife to identify. Cafe and shop are great bonus for refreshments. Great to see work being done to support community, environment and charity. Well worth a visit and shame we don't live closer.

A great place for a flat run. There is a 5k route, all off-road with assisted flora and fauna to spot. I also come here with my grandchildren to hire bikes or karts and it feels safe.

Great couple of hours spent here having a lovely cup of coffee and a delicious, fresh out the oven, pasty! This was followed by an hour or so biking round. Great selection of bikes to hire at a fair price.

My 2 grandchildren had bike lessons there. The lady who took them was absolutely brilliant with the boys. By the end of the lesson they were riding the bikes and I think with one more lesson they will have the confidence to do it on their own. Afterward we had a lovely walk around the perimeter and woods. Cafe is disappointing but at least it has one!!

When it's autumn/winter time, it's nice to find a nature reserve that isn't really muddy and slushy everywhere. The footpaths are really good and spacious. I like the different routes you can take (some are open spaces, some are woodlands) and the toilets are always clean (love the compost loo) also free parking is always a bonus. I used the bike where you peddle with your hands when I had knee surgery too and it was so amazing to feel like I could get out and about after my op.

Lovely little morning out, nice and easy to cycle round with a few walking trails through the middle. Can be a bit windy on the right day but doesn't ruin it. We rented a four seater cycle buggy which was fun for the kids but cost £27 for 1.5hour rental which I think is a tad steep. Apart from that it's a nice few hours out with the family.

Fantastic little find, we hired bike's and really enjoyed our ride around the nature reserve. Very well paved so could still enjoy despite the terrible weather, the kid's had a brilliant time. Highly recommend.
