I came here last night with my husband and also some friends. Keep in mind, this is somewhat like a sushi bar, so I was surprised to have so many guests with me. We have RSVP for party of 8 (surprise birthday dinner for me). The food was amazing!!! The quality and presentation was superb!! I love that they have varieties of sushi for those that does not eat raw. We ordered a lot of food, my fave appetizer to share was the wagyu tartar and bone marrow and also the oyster. I love the ama ebi it tasted amazing!!!! The nigiri mix and the a5 beef nigiri was also delish. Honestly I lover everything that came out, lol. Everything was sooo delicious and I was very very full!!! I can’t wait to go back and try the other items. The staff were all so friendly and attentive. I highly recommend this place.

Hands down the best sushi I have ever had in my life. Every single dish we ordered was INCREDIBLE and the prices are hard to beat for SD. This is truly a hidden gem. They make their own eel sauce and it takes 10 hours to make. Every detail was perfect. I’d rate it 6/5 if I could. That one person who gave this 2 stars is soooo wrong it’s not even funny

We’ve purchased several sushi boards from Nghi in the past and each time has been a different experience but the end result has always been delicious! We’ve also ordered his boxes from time to time and they are awesome! We’ve recommended Nghi to all of our friends and his sushi does not disappoint!

Amazing food! In a small unassuming place, this jewel of both sushi and other Japanese/fusion cuisine is hidden away. It really could stand up easily next to any of the fanciest places you might come across in downtown, San Diego or up-and-down the coast. If you gave Chef Nghi Dao the money, staff and resources his place could easily be 10 times the size with a clientele that would be 10 times as happy as they would be at the next ‘high-end’ competitor. My girl and I were down there for a medical conference, and I finally had the opportunity to dine at Ju-Ichi. My only regret was that I eventually got full and couldn’t keep tasting more dishes! An excellent addition to Convoy District. It would be an excellent addition anywhere! I think if you have an open mind, an open pallet and the opportunity eat at this restaurant, you will not be disappointed!

We’d like to try something else than ramen and chicken karagee in convoy area tonight, i checked here on google and decided to give it a shot and not regret at all. Unfortunately we had to eat karagee again :) because thats the only option for our 6 yrs old, don’t complain either cuz he eats chicken teriyaki. We arrived the restaurant around 8:15 it was half full at the time, has seated right away, we ordered 3 rolls and all was amazing, i have suprised how fresh and perfectly crafted the fish was, i could able chew it perfectly, they melt in your mouth. Combination of the rolls was great, it wasn’t overly riced. Chicken karagee also good, came hot and fresh, my son finished it with our help. Our waitress iseballa was very friendly. overall very good experience, restaurant start to packed after 30 minutes that we sat.

Authentic, fresh sushi that’s hard to find. Best sushi in San Diego! You can taste the love in the food. Great energy & staff is excellent! Romantic ambience, great for date night or just a night out. Chef Nghi took the time to share how the restaurant receives such fresh ingredients. Refreshing to see the chef care so much about the dining experience.

Great place to go out to eat sushi. The bar seating is first come first serve and I recommend it over sitting at a table. Most people in our party had a great time talking to the chefs as they prepared and made recommendations for their best sushi options. The food here is not your average dishes but still taste just as good to the average person who doesn't fine dine often. Everything we ordered seems to be family recipe quality food and I love that. The service was very attentive and one person in our group had a birthday that they celebrated without us asking them to. If you are in the area there is a lot of competition for sushi but I don't think you could find a better place.

Unique, flavor-filled Japanese food with fabulous service! 11/10 would come back again and again. Highly recommend the Bougie Boo roll & the Hamachi Kama. The head chef sure knows how to design a creative menu with dynamic flavors. I also can't wait to come back to try their tasting menu! They apparently rotate the menu frequently, incorporating seasonal ingredients and the head chef’s creative whims. Thank you for a great experience!
