Decided to try out this restaurant due to all the great reviews....what a disappointment! I have eaten at Chinese restaurants for many decades, mostly in Chinatowns, and would not consider the food here very good. We tried three dishes: the diced chicken (way too salty), the sweet and sour pork, and the salt and pepper squid (their version of calamari). I agree with most of the other reviews that the service was terrible. The wait staff really have no idea what service means other than to the minimum of bringing your food out. We were ignored most of the time we were there. It took half an hour before anyone even came to our table to take our order. The next thing we noticed is that guests who came in after us were being served their food as we continued to wait. We finally had to ask how long before our food would come. No one checked in with us the entire time. We had to get their attention to get more tea, again for napkins, again for a to go box, again for the check. We got tired of waiting for them to come back to accept our payment and finally just got up to pay at the cashier. I am usually generous with tip, but for the first time in a really long time, decided I cannot tip them when the service was so lacking. As we left, a waiter chased after us demanding tip. Finally, they noticed us!

Updated review as of June 20, 2023. New owner took over and now it's an authentic Sichuan food which is yummy. Food is good but not your typical American Chinese food which tends to be salt and sugary brown sauce, so you know what you expect at this place. Some Sichuan dishes might be fried and has lots of chilli flakes, that's normal. For example, the sichuan chicken dish which has lots of red chilli pepper and that's just the way it is. I will share some photos next time. Enjoy!

My boyfriend and I were craving soup dumplings so we decided to go to one of our favorite spots. Little did we know that the entire restaurant staff were not following Covid-19 protocols. The server didn't have a mask whatsoever when serving us our dinner and the other wait staff were cleaning the empty tables without their masks as well. They were constantly walking around us without their masks when the restaurant is small to begin with. Also another thing to note is that while the staff were at the counter (less than 6 ft from our table), they were talking with their masks on their chin. I tried to tell the owner that this made me uncomfortable but he brushed me off and walked away. We couldn't even finish our meal because we felt we had to leave for our own health/safety. It's sad to say that this restaurant has such poor Covid-19 measures that make their customers feel unsafe and at risk. During this pandemic, I have always supported small businesses and I have been a regular here since I was a kid but I'm sad to say that I will never be back to this establishment. The food is great but it is not worth risking my life while grabbing a meal.

New owners. None of the dishes are made the same way. And the soup dumpling queen os no longer there. Not to mention that the quantity is half what it used to be.

I feel bad for giving a two-star review during these times, but the quality of the food was just not good. We ordered for pick up via Grub Hub one Sunday afternoon. Here is what we had: Soup dumpling with crab meat and pork - this was mediocre at best. The dumpling skin texture was not bad so maybe I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and say that it would probably have tasted better if eaten fresh at the restaurant, and not as takeout Marinated duck - I guess 'marinated' is code for 'old' because this duck tasted like it was several days old. Definitely avoid this dish Seafood pan-fried noodle dish - definitely not worth the $20+ we spent on it. They used imitation crab meat, there were only like three shrimp, and the rest of the seafood (squid and fish) was just not fresh. The sauce actually had a nice flavor to it but the consistency was just too thick and gloppy. I've been watching a lot of Kitchen Nightmares lately and honestly, this looked like it could be a dish on the 'before' menu on an episode of that show. I'm sure Gordon Ramsay would have had a few choice words for this dish. I think it's best to stick to the basic menu items here. You probably can't go wrong with some chicken/broccoli or fried rice.

I used to come here very often the quality used to be very good but now they completely don’t care because they know people desperate and they have to eat I got chicken corn soup and shrimp with walnut soup was OK even though it had something dark swimming in it but the shrimp was disgusting I cannot even explain how bad it was I almost threw up in the place I can’t even believe this place is still open and allowed to operate and health department didn’t lock them down but I will make the note and write a complaint to them my advice to you don’t go and waste your money but if you are be very cautious and see what you buying try not to get poisoned. By the way I told them that the shrimp taste disgusting she just smiled like a dumb airhead and still brought me the bill shrimp included I paid for it even though I left the Disgusting shrimp there. Shame on you guys no respect to customers or humanity you should not be allowed operating in this Conditions.

First time here since the renovations. Food is still good. Not as busy as before which is good. Will definitely go back.

Great place for pricey chinese food. Keeping this real, this is a small local residential serving establishment. The food flavoring is okay, a bit conservative tasting for the non asians. In my most humble opinion, if you haven't eaten here, you are not missing much; instead, take a ride to fort lee and treat yourself to better tasting and more affordable chinese food.

My family have been here multiple times and have enjoyed each visit. The food is always fresh and delicious! This is a casual place that is suitable for family meals and a date night.

Authentic Northern pasta, Taiwanese beef noodles, soy milk, fried dough sticks, and Sichuan cuisine – the food is delicious, the service is great, and the restaurant atmosphere is warm and inviting. Give it a try and become a customer – highly recommended! Parking free.

三杯雞 sauce tasted so good and chicken's so tender. But you need to be patient to get this dish. Cumin Lamb was great too. Price is about right during inflation period. I definitely will come back.

Very authentic Shanghainese dishes. We ordered the takeout and they advised us the price has increased a bit. Pan pried pork bun(生煎包) 6 pieces $10, homemade zongzi (a sticky rice ball with braised meat wrapped in bamboo leaves肉粽) $5, soup dumplings (小籠湯包) 6 pieces $8, stir-fry veggie (炒豆苗) $20 but they were all delicious 🤤.

The only spot that offers incredible dan dan noodles. The pork dumplings in chili oil are our favorite, our go to place for fall/winter

Well. The food is decent, but...the portions have been cut in half from the old petite soochow. Tastes good though and fresh. Just dissapointed in the new portion control. Update: just finished the meal. It was delicious. Still wish portions were a tad larger, but upping to 5 stars on taste alone

quality food if you order the non-Americanized dishes. Fresh fish, amazing prawns, nice apps. Some sauces a bit sweet. Juicy buns nice but prefer with more soup.

I really did enjoy the food here until one evening take out. I spotted totally mangled "just front" torso of a roach about thumb nail size in the fried rice. I got so disgusted that I couldn't even bother to write the review nor go to the restaurant to complain, I just wanted to block off from my head. It happened about 6 months ago and yet still the nightmare lingers inside my stomach everytime thinking about it! Imagine what can be inside in their dumplings?? It's really too bad, because I loved their food and the convenient location as close to my home.

We were here for lunch, I had the beef noodle soup and my co worker sweet and sour chicken lunch special. Both dishes were really good, food tasted fresh and the server was on top of things. Definitely recommend.

The fakest Chinese food I ever had. There is absolutely no flavor. Do not order here if you’re looking for good authentic Chinese food. The prices are ridiculous too

Changing my original 4-star rating from 2017 to 3 stars. I think the management has changed, and the food is not as good. No longer my go-to local Chinese spot.

Absolutely, by far, the BEST soup dumplings in the NY Tri-state area. The woman who runs the place hand makes the dumplings behind a window by the door as you walk in. Peking duck is outstanding. 5 minutes south from the GW bridge in Cliffside Park NJ. The snow pea leaves are a must!
