This place has gone seriously downhill since it first opened. Either inflation is hitting them hard or they are just trying to price gouge their customers. Their strips used to be a decent size...smaller than the average chicken finger but still decent enough. Now they're significantly smaller with some barely big enough to be considered nuggets. Almost half of our 20 pieces were the size of the ones pictured. The rest were bigger, but still much smaller than they used to be. Note that the photos on the website still look like the way they used to be so they aren't an accurate representation of what you will get from this place. You're essentially getting the equivalent of a 20 piece nuggets for almost $30. To their credit, they did offer us additional wings when we told them we weren't satisfied with the strips so I gave an extra star for that, but that doesn't mean they won't serve the same pathetic "strips" to the next customer. So buyer beware at this location. I'm not sure if they're all doing this but the Nutley location is most definitely not what it used to be. I would avoid it and go elsewhere unless you want to be scammed.

Disgusting over cooked dry processed chicken. It’s crazy how they decided to use frozen chicken and spray sauce not even a decent amount to make up for the disgusting taste of the chicken. It’s dry you can tell it’s frozen not fresh. Don’t even bother this isn’t what it was before

Worst Bonchon location ever! Ordered online for pickup and still had to wait 45 mins in the store since it was no ready. No service recovery, apology or explanation. The worker in the front just kept saying 10 to 15 more mins. Save yourself the hassle and don’t order from here! After all that waiting, they couldn’t even give some plates, ketchup or utensils. There was a sign that saying was out of order yet workers we still using it.

I placed my order and everything was fine. I get a email saying my order was canceled cause the store was closed.. I called and they were open. Then I asked them if everything was okay with my order and they said yes but backed up. I asked if I can pick it up and if the order will go through. She said yes and it'll be ready in 20 mins.. I get here and she shows me the reception and said a few more minutes. 30 minutes goes by and I ask her where my order is. She goes back to the kitchen. Come back. Sits down and starts singing..... then I'm like Excuse me, my order? She puts this face like she doesn't know what I'm talking about. Then comes back and says it's canceled.... never again. (She is still singing along to the radio as we speak)

I called ordered strips spicy and ask the lady who answered the phone to please make sure the strips were done correctly and and sauced the way it is supposed to please. I arrived and after waiting an extra 15 minutes from the time I was told the strips in both boxes had a lot of un sauced parts . I mentioned to the lady she said she could do anything she said she had told them in the kitchen, so I ask if I could get a side of the spicy and told me she could not . Omg Not the first time this happens last time I had to wait 25 minutes and they gave to me with sauce dripping outside the both. Top 10 growing food chain really ???need some English speaking in the kitchen not happy at all.

I placed order and got text saying they got my order, 6:20pm and I set the order for 7:15pm pickup. I got there and like always order not ready, said please wait 10 mins or so. Waited and got my order by 7:35. Came home and opened up to eat and the chicken wings were cold, potstickers cold, fried rice dry. I put everything for reheat. This place is horrible and never any managers there to speak to. All food is horrible and dry. It is not cheap food dollar plus for a piece of wing and not served properly. One guy in front of me waited for hour and half and he gave up and took refund. This place needs serious management skills. Picture in re heat tray.

Used to come here all the time with my kids love it!! What a horrible experience!! We bought a family pack. The fries were cold, the chicken was mixed some was spicy and some with the regular soy garlic that we usually order. Not the order I placed! The bowl of rice was not even half full!! when I called to explain the situation, they pretty much just tried to brush it off. When I asked to speak to a manager they said that the manager is never there. The young lady at the register that answered the phone tried to tell me that they change their bowls size and that’s why it looks smaller and different but at the portion side had not changed.. GTF out of here.. seriously that’s your excuse? It’s the same size bowl! $65 dollars for a meal and you can’t even give proper rice portion? Don’t waste your money here this place is not what it used to be.

This used to be the spot for chicken but, I don’t thinks an option for us any more. I just purchased small half and half and fries, and it took them 45 minutes to make the food. Plus when I got the food I found a staple in one of the wings (attached a picture of it)

Love Bonchon, but I try to avoid this location at all costs. Nothing is ever ready when it’s supposed to be. Had a small order (2 items) today scheduled for pickup 30 minutes out. When I arrive at the scheduled pickup time, it is still being made. Things get busy and I don’t mind waiting a few extra minutes, but “a few extra minutes” quickly became 20+, and my food wasn’t ready until 25 minutes AFTER the scheduled pickup time. For a $20 order, that is an egregious amount of time to be stuck waiting for your food. Last time I was here it was a similar story, with a line of people waiting for food that should’ve been done already. I can only hope this location gets adequate staffing so the situation gets better for both the customers AND the employees, who have too many orders to fulfill and not enough people to fulfill them on time.

Saw on Grubhub so I said let’s give it a try. Very surprising food was great. Hot and fresh. I’m very picky when it comes down to chicken. Even tho was boneless chicken it was not greasy at all. Cooked just right. Hoping to visit in person soon. See ya soon…….

Finger lickin’ good 🤤👅👈🏾🍗 We had never been here before and had never tried this place but we were hanging out with friends in the area over the weekend, were in the mood for Asian fusion food, and wanted something that would reheat well. It was cold and rainy and we were staying inside as a group hanging out, watching movies and playing games and we wanted food that we could pick at through out the day and feed about 6 people. …And hand’s down this place gets 5 stars for exceeding our expectations ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Find a more detailed review below👇🏾 Ambiance: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars) While we did not eat here and took the food to go, the restaurant seemed very clean and sanitary. There were large windows you could sit and eat by. The tables were all white and the walls were colorful. But there was no outdoor seating, however and the location was small. Service: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars) The staff was all very nice, knowledgeable and helpful. They were recommending items as we ordered and answering our questions. They were hard working, taking orders and cleaning the entire time we were there. They brought out the food in about 20 minutes which was great for the amount of food we ordered. We also ordered 15 drum sticks, and a side order of kimchi, white rice, and kimchi coleslaw. Our group was mostly made up of people of color and there were signs all over the restaurant bragging about the chicken. This place is also a chain, and so of course we were hesitant about the quality of the food and wanted to judge this place for ourselves. But their double fried Korean style fried chicken gets our stamp of approval. It was crispy, crunchy and so flavorful. Everything else was good but the chicken was the star of the show. I’m getting hungry just thinking about it. It was mouthwatering and awoke all of your senses - yes it was that good! Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5/5 Stars) We spent a little over $100 but we were buying food for 6-7 people, split between all of us that was about $10-$20 a person but we were all able to have seconds and even thirds. You definitely get your money’s worth at this place!

From someone who used to frequent the original location for the lunch special and was happy to see you in my NJ neighborhood, I am not happy to say things have changed for the worse. I showed up for my order and was told it would be about 15-20 minutes more. I sat and watched many people come and go over the additional 45 minutes I sat in the store. When I asked how things were doing I was told they are finishing up one last part of the order. Sadly that was easy to identify as I got home to hot drums and the rest of my $85 order just cold. Sorry but I won't be coming back and I very much miss the old Bonchon.

Bonchon is great! Being a huge fan of hot wings, I've often said that breading chicken wings is an assault against poultry. I still stand by that statement, but places like this are an exception to the rule where they are doing something different. In fact, I would offer the suggestion not to get the spicy wings here because they just don't taste as good. The garlic wings are amazing. Whatever the case, there are great options on the menu that you will find and enjoy. Not a cheap option really, but a tasty one, and so far my experience has been that it is consistent from one place to the next within the Bonchon chain. Go (or order delivery) and enjoy!

Not up to BonChon standards. Over sauced and soy garlic way too much salt/soy. Food came on time but disappointed.

We ordered here for delivery and the wings came very crispy and delicious. We also ordered side of fries and pickles. The soy garlic is very flavorful and the spicy ones were spicy enough. How do I know ? The toilet called in the morning.

This was my worst experience at any bon chon ever. When we walked in at 7:55 pm the cashier told us they close at 8:30 even thought the door and google says 9 pm. We asked to eat in and she didn’t bring us menus or take our order. Also she gave us our food in to go container (not great for dine in eating). The last straw was at 8:34 she yelled at us from across the room to wrap it up cause they were closing. There were 3 other people in there ordering for pick up so it was wierd to me that we were getting kicked out before closing time. When I asked about the discrepancy she said the signs are wrong and I told my manager that. So either the sign is wrong or her attitude is wrong. Either way one of them are misleading. Sum it all up I will be avoiding this location at all cost. I normally frequent the one in Union and they are amazing. I believe this place needs new staff or better training.

Had an issue due to Uber and I called them explaining the situation, the lady on the phone was so sweet and understanding. She gave amazing customer service and she even went out her way to call me back just to tell me that my food was picked up by the driver . Food came warm and delicious !!!

I ordered a Bulldak through doordash, and my order has around 5 pieces of chicken. It has alot of cheese and rice cake, but that's not the reason why I would buy a bulldak. Could you guys add more chicken please. The order was $18 too, so why am I getting less chicken and more rice cake and cheese. That's a rip off.

Cheap and good, though personally the mango didnt hit well. It wasnt terrible but I would love to come back and try the other flavors

My teenagers LOVED the soy garlic wings, pot stickers, and popcorn shrimp. Crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. I definitely recommend. Can’t speak to the physical space, we did DoorDash. Oh… the spicy wings were too spicy for my kids to enjoy but if you like spice!!! You’ll find that here 🙂

Bonchon drumsticks are to die for. Make sure you get the spicy chicken though. Tasty and will have you coming back for more. They forgot to put napkins and utensils though but the food made up for this.

This is a complaint. I walked 7 blocks to eat at bonchon. Love the food but I get there at 7:30 just to find out that the manager would not serve me She said that 7:30 was too late when bonchon closes at 8pm. Isn’t that false advertising. You lost a good customer. And I will spread word around on your false hours.

Lady at the desk is always pleasant. Environment is clean, but this location is inconsistent. Too often I get wings that’s aren’t double fried and are soggy as opposed to crispy. I was introducing my Manager to them for the first time, raving about how amazing they are, only to discover it was soggy. What a bummer man! He thinks I over exaggerated because of the poor preparing.

Good chicken but terrible customer service experience. I ordered 2 meals online and chose fries for both of them and selected curbside pickup so I added a tip as well. I waited and saw that no one was coming when the time I was given had passed so I went inside and told the person at the counter my name only for them to pickup the bags behind them and hand it to me... I just wanted to eat so I didn't bring up the curbside pickup and went back to my car only to find that there was no fries there but instead 2 coleslaw sides. I then had to walk back inside and told them they gave me the wrong sides only for them to inform me they ran out of fries. They told me this AFTER I had already left which meant they just figured it'd be fine. The story doesn't end there. They offered a partial refund for my troubles to which I accepted and later saw that they had only refunded me a few cents... I know they don't go charging a penny each for their fries and I didn't get my tip back either. Very disappointed.

Placed my order and was reluctant to proceed because they were 45 mins. Behind schedule. I had the wings and the bulgogi. The soy garlic wings were really salty and they didn't give me rice with my bulgogi. I ended up going to a local Chinese store to grab a pint of rice. Also ordered kimchi slaw but got just plain kimchi.

Front order taking lady was crazy and yelling and cursing and kept hitting her head saying im going to quit, denied people their food and was yelling like a crazy person. She said she hates the calls after calls and shouted no no no no.

i love the food here and come here often. i have never seen this lady before to take my order, she came at 11:03 and i was here at 11 expecting to see someone. she came inside and did everything in front of us. she took our order and isnt really bothering to do anything else. we have been here for over 40 minutes and our food still is not ready yet. i don’t understand how long it takes to make two lunch specials and an order of rice cakes. this girl is sitting here singing and not bothering to do anything else. the other girl who i have seen more is much sweeter. i was not pleased about the amount of time it took for my food and being there before the worker when the website says 11, it was very sticky as well. this was very unprofessional.

This location went downhill compared to when it first opened. I never leave reviews on google but this place sucked so bad I had to. Their wait time is crazy long and I got a dry overcooked chicken to the point that the meat inside was hard to chew. Me and my partner also eat spicy food like crazy but the sauce on the chicken was literally too spicy that left me and my partner’s lips swollen. This is definitely the last time we’re ordering from this location. They either have to hire new people or just close down.

Would give 0 stars if possible Horrible NYE experience. I placed a very small order for 10 wings 3 sliders and fries on Uber eats at 7pm. Order was taking longer than usual due to NYE which is to be expected. When my delivery driver got to restaurant he was waiting for 25 min (now 815). He told me he could not wait any longer as the restaurant said it will be 10 more min, totally fine again I understand NYE and all. Well my second driver arrives and the woman at the counter told her my food was already picked up despite the app continuing to send drivers to restaurant. So I called the restaurant to see what was going on and where we go from here. The woman who answered laughed at me, told me my food was already picked up by my driver, said she had someone there who backed her up and ultimately hung up on me. I called back and the woman continued to be nasty, condescending and treating it as a joke and then when I asked for a refund she had a complete mental breakdown. Started yelling and screaming in the phone and I could hear her throwing things over the phone. When I asked to speak to a manager she hung up on me again. I waited a few more minutes before calling back again, she read me the managers number and quickly hung up. I called the number she gave me and no answer. I sent a text explaining my issue and never got a response. Ultimately at 930pm my wife went to pick up the food and again the lady was absolutely losing her mind in the restaurant. Again, I understand it was NYE it’s busy totally understandable. However it was completely unprofessional and this restaurant has terrible employee running the front end and terrible customer service. I would avoid this place in the future.
