Really enormous and beautiful caves. Excellent choice to visit on a very hot or, in our case, tad bit cold day. Lots of stairs but a nice walk going down 120 meters. Luckily at the end of the (guided) tour there is an elevator that takes you back to the surface. Then by following a blue line, you get guided back to the car park.

Very pretty cave system well worth the 7.5 Euro entry fee. Takes about an hour to go from end to end but feels quicker. Some great photo ops and you get to learn something as well. Very cool. All groups are lead by a tour guide so you get some interesting info as you go. Also after the lift don't just hard up to the car. 🙂 Stop and take the time to look at the photos documenting the mapping and discovery of the caves very cool. Huge thank you to the guide for our group. We were the only English speaking members of a Portuguese group and the guide took the time to explain quietly to us in English then to the group as a whole in Portuguese. It was much appreciated, we had downloaded the English speaking guide in preparation but it was not needed thanks to the super helpful tour guide.

Enjoyed this. Tour was in Portugese, but you could download an app that would explain what you were seeing in English. Guide was very friendly and did speak English if you had any questions. Approximately 683 steps down, there is an elevator to take you back up at the end. The oldest stalagmite is 80,000 years old. It is considered one of Portugal's 7 natural wonders. Free parking, snack bar and gift shop on site.

Beautiful place to visit with the family. It's even dog friendly and they too can go down with you. Great coffee shop on site with outdoor seating. Affordable entrance fees. Take good walking shoes with grip to avoid slipping as the floor inside is usually wet and slightly slippery.

Epic, simply epic caves. If your into groovy planet stuff made by nature — this cave is double epic. Distinctively different than other caves. TIP: After leaving the exit — follow the blue line on the sidewalk back to the entrance and parking.

What an incredible place! The tour and the short introductory video is in Portuguese, but there’s an app available to download with the information in various languages. The beauty of this place is wild and unique, absolute must see.

Interesting caves with lots of history and a good walk through. Marked down because they asked us if we were English speaking and then proceeded to tell us they wouldn't have time to tell us the tour details in English. Appreciate its a Portuguese attraction etc but felt odd to ask us and then refuse to give us any details in English. Better for local rather than foreign tourists!

Great time doing this walk through the caves. 680+ stairs down but it's at an easy pace and my kids all kept up easily. Beautiful to be that deep into the mountain! You can get an app to listen to the stories if you don't speak Portuguese like the guide. Recommend this if in the area

This place is where you can see nature form! It’s not “too beautiful” but the feel and presence of nature is recognized! I’d certainly recommend you visit if you like nature and how this cave amazingly came to existence over the “last million years “ as described. Download the audio app! It’s worth it! There isn’t that much of a long wait which is nice! You can buy the ticket right at the counter with cash or card!

Nice place to visit when traveling between Coimbra and Lisbon. They have a good touristic infrastructure, in the sense that the queue is properly organised, there are enough guides. We went in August so we had to wait for a bit to get in, so the groups were quite big. As we took a big longer than usual to take our pictures from inside the cave, we ended up not hearing anything that the guide was actually explaining, nevertheless the experience itself was nothing short of fascinating! There are many steps throughout, but if you're wise and take plenty of selfie breaks, you practically don't feel it. At the end of the visit, you go up via a lift, and then walk a short distance to get back to the main entrance and the car park. Great, safe, once in a lifetime visit for those who have never been inside a cave.

Way too touristy. The cave is covered in so many lights and random decorations that it lost its natural beauty. 5/5 for natural wonder and a beautiful cave, 1/5 for for the decorative fountains, colorful lights and carved pathways.

One of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal. Nice visit, you go very deep and the cave is very accesible and lighted, all the way downstairs and with a lift to the entrance. The tours are in Portuguese but there’s a free app to follow in your local lenguaje

The cave is truly remarkable, with its impressive depth. It's awe-inspiring to think about how nature gradually formed this concealed wonder over countless millennia.

Must see. Very well maintained. Lots of steps down, but elevator up. Beautiful, huge, great guides.

Mira de Aire Cave is a stunning natural wonder located in Portugal that is a must-visit for anyone interested in exploring the beauty of underground caves. The cave is truly breathtaking, with amazing rock formations and underground rivers that are sure to leave you in awe. The cave is well-maintained and the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, making for a great overall experience. Additionally, the surrounding area is beautiful, with plenty of opportunities for hiking and exploring. Overall, Mira de Aire Cave is definitely worth a visit and is an unforgettable experience.

Not too expensive and our guide was great, explaining the formations in both Portuguese and English. We had to wait about 25 minutes for the next time to start but that left us time to play with the goat!

Beautiful site with a lot of science and history to it. Highly recommend it. Great even for younger kids 5 and up. Get the app if you don’t speak Portuguese fyi. Great service and friendly staff but be patient, things get done at a slower pace here which I love and appreciate

While traveling in Portugal between our beach trip and Nazareth and our city trip in porto our tour guide booked us a tour through one of the 7 natural winners of Portugal, This cave system has a lot of decent history or some interesting artifacts and things to explore it's fun to take a tour it's not as cool inside as you would think so you don't need to wear long sleeves. It's quite a bit away off the beaten path so it's a fun little trip I can see the kids enjoying it and there's some interesting facts and they give the tour both in Portuguese and in English if necessary.

Very nice cave to visit, i just wished we could go out the same way, by stairs, not by elevator, to really have a nice experience.

This was a nice foray into what they call one of the 7 natural wonders of Portugal. The walk down stairs was mostly wet but not very hazardous. Wear shoes with some grip. There were many beautiful things to look at, and the cave is very deep. The exit is not at the main building, so it's a few blocks of steep walking back to the top. There's a photographer in the cave who takes nice pictures and will sell them to you after for $6. There are also nice animals to look at like a peacock, lovebirds, pigs, geese, ducks, and a restaurant at the main building.

An incredible visit. So reasonably priced ! We took the kids and they loved it. Although I will say that the tour itself is only in Portuguese but they do give you a little leaflet in your chosen language so that you can match information to the numbers throughout the cave system. It is huge, and takes about an hour to walk through.

Nice cave. Nature at it’s best. The guide was very humble and explained the achievements of the archaeologists in a nice way. We were a group of 6 and felt like a private tour. The place where the introductory movie was shown was stinking.

Absolutely amazing natural caves which have been nicely preserved and maintained. The lighting also helps to enjoy this stunning attraction even further because it creates a great atmosphere. At the end of the trail there is a wide and ample deck which can hold ceremonies such as weddings and other parties. I do recommend, it is a five star 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 attraction.
