A beautifully imposing structure in the heart of town. They are currently doing maintenance on it and re-plastering it in sections, but there isn’t any scaffolding or anything obstructing the view. There is a lot of parking right next to the aqueduct. It’s really easy to pull over and get some great pics without having to walk much. We arrived at around 3pm and there were only a few other cars in the massive parking lot. About a four minute drive from the fort as well, really easy to see both quickly.

Amazing architectural stop along the way to the town of Elvas. There is a car park right across the street and a park on either side of Aqueducts. During our visit it was being restored and conserved.

It is enormous. It is excellent sightseeing to take a picture. But no more than it. It takes around 5 minutes to visit. There are many parking lots.

I never tire of seeing these magnificent acquaduct constructions. This one took over 100 years to complete, in 1622.

Stunning monument. What more I have to say? Another must see (difficult not to spot it because of its huge size) in the city ... 100 years to build and 8km in length. It's huge... A lot bigger than we can imagine by the pics. Nuts.

Quite an entrance to Elvas. Even stopped the car to take photos.

Amazing, huge aqueduct. Road network runs through the arches. Worth a stop just over the roundabout for photos

Amoreria Aqueduct in Elvas, Portugal. One of the longest aqueduct in Europe. Stunning view from all angles. It’s an icon before you enter the town with 8 km long. Built for a hundred years. It was completed in the year 1620 when the water first reached town.

👍👍 A very interesting place, it can be visited from its Spanish and Portuguese part. The Portuguese area is ideal to be able to spend the day in the countryside and eat in the area. It is located on the Guadiana River, between the municipalities of Olivenza (Spain) and Elvas (Portugal). Ordered to be...
