For art lovers the best place to visit in Milano. Not particularly big, but nice collection of visual art mostly from Renaissance era. Very nice Caravaggio is probably the biggest highlight of the museum, but far from being the only interesting thing in the museum. Highly recommended. Crowds reasonable, but tickets need to be reserved in advance.

One of the best collections of artwork you will ever see, this collection is up there with the Uffizi art gallery. It has an absolutely incredible collection of paintings, statues, sculptures and jewelry. It’s also located in a very unique building with amazing architecture. I would definitely recommend checking out this museum.

A wonderful gallery of pictures. No need to book in advance. No queuing, tickets can be bought from a vending machine and paid for by credit card. Free multilingual exhibition guide for families. Some paintings are accompanied by interesting educational texts.

Visited with a guided tour and absolutely fell in love with the museum and works. Loved that’s it’s a “working” museum and art school. You can spend a few hours here and take time due to amenities thought of by the curator. I encourage anyone to have a guide if possible, to further spark your interest Italian artists.

Amazing experience. The public gallery in a beautiful classical building. Great exposition and collection of the painting. The paintings were mostly religious themed. We bought tickets online, and entrance was without waiting.

I was not in a gallery (will follow up on this next time), but even being outside is giving a flavour od this sanctuary of arts. Worth seeing even during a quick city walk as I did. Will be back for sure.

Most breathtaking collection of Renaissance art situated at the heart of Brera. The way the art is presented with the collectors view on the piece of art presented, is most interesting and interactive. The cafe is a pleasant place the have a drink or a sandwich. If you make a reservation you can enter the museum without standing in line.

This museum has got it all as far as paintings are concerned. Sprawled across 30 halls, the museum covers Modern art to Baroque to the Renaissance era featuring iconic artists such as Caravaggio and Raphael. As a novice museum-goer, couldn't have asked for anything else except for more time to explore perhaps. Take a look at the photos and decide for yourself!

Step into a world of art at Pinacoteca di Brera. The paintings tell amazing stories, and the calm atmosphere makes it easy to enjoy each one. Whether you're an art lover or just curious, it's a great place to explore and appreciate beautiful Italian art.

Best Pinacoteca in Europe, better than the Louvre and the National Gallery. Huge collection of the best painters of the world. Don't miss it

Beautiful museum. The entrance itself with the open courtyard is already impressive. For sure worth visiting for 2-3 hours. Bigger than I expected it to be. The only negative thing to say would be how unclear it is where the entrance is. They placed signs pointing two different ways. One is up the stairs and says “tickets with reservation” , while the other sign points entrance past the stairs and elevators which leads absolutely nowhere and is a really long walk. The right way is up the stairs and they could point this out more clearly. Lots of confused people…

Nice small art museum. Personally too many paintings with religious themes but overall very well organised museum with lots of chairs to sit down and bilingual explanations of the artwork.

Beautiful museum, the best i’ve been to in Milan! The courtyard is free entry, if you just want to have a look at the building and some of the statues, but there are many gorgeous art pieces to see inside. When we went, there were also 2 artists inside that were singing, which added to the overall great experience. Definitely worth a visit!

Raphael, Bramante, Caravaggio. Need I say more. Excellent high renaissance art pieces. Definitely book in advance. Easy to get lost here. And the cafe at the end is a nice recharge.

The museum is worth a visit if you are into art. A lot of it is religiously themed however so take that into consideration. The building itself is very beautiful and nice to look around in. The upper floor is the museum consisting of around 32 rooms and the lower floor has facilities related to the art school. We spent around 2 hours in there although we did walk through the later part a bit quicker due to needing to be at the next museum in time.

This is the museum that everyone who goes to Milan visit, and I understand why. Pinacoteca di Brera consists mostly paintings with classical style (I hope I am right - what I mean is the traditional way of painting that was taught in Art academies). It is not really my type but the display is magnificent. They also have a cafe outside when your visit is over, with a very nice view. Here you can see how the artwork is preserved and recovered, to fight against the time. If you want to enjoy an artistic Milan, this is the place to go.

The Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan is a magnificent showcase of European art, particularly strong in Italian paintings. The gallery, housed in a historic 17th-century building, offers a journey through centuries of artistic genius. Notable for its collection of Italian Renaissance art, it features masterpieces by Caravaggio, Raphael, and Tintoretto. Each room is thoughtfully curated, providing context and insight into the evolution of artistic styles. The ambiance is serene, ideal for contemplation. A must-visit for art enthusiasts, it offers a deep, enriching experience that captures the essence of Italy's rich artistic heritage.

If you have time for only one museum while in Milan, this one should be it. It's relatively small, only one floor, so it won't take up too much time, but what is offered is outstanding, mostly Italian works. Pictures allowed inside. Reservations required beforehand, which is done online.

Really worth seeing. Tickets bought online, and entrance with out waiting. Lights are not adjusted well, and often one needs to move to see all picture. Names of pictures are on different surface than description, so one also needs to change position to read name of item.

Beautiful place full of amazing paints and some sculptures, they show you the restoring process of some of the art. We where as a family (minors don’t pay + 2 adults x 11€ each). There’s a QR at the entrance to a chronological map of the museum. The Caravaggio is amazing but i personally preferred the Rubens “the last supper”. You can ask for a drawing kit at recepción to sketch though the museum, there’s also some drawing places to be inspired by the art in front of you and some paints have “fun facts” or so. If you an art lover, you must come.

We had a bit of a hard time to find the entrance, but we asked another tourist and we were directed to go upstairs. There was a short line of about 8 people around 2pm, so you can purchase tickets quite easily at the counter. You can leave your backpack in the lockers, just have €1 handy and you will get it back after you pick up your stuff. There are renovations going on, but there is still a lot to see. Rembrandt, Caravaggio, and Picasso were my highlights. Guides were very helpful and responded in English when we needed help to find Caravaggio. Really a lovely museum worth the visit, just needs a better signage where to go when you get there.

In a humble old palace, there’s a wonderful collection of paintings and sculptures! Possible to find depictions from various art schools and centuries. Also, possible to visit the art gallery completely free on the first sunday each month. However, a reservation is necessary. Loved their collection, there’re pieces of Caravvaggio, Picasso, Hayez, and many more.

One of the best art museums that I had the chance to visit. Since it was February, we didn’t consider the need to buy the tickets in advance. But even during this time of year we didn’t expect to see so many people; so I definitely recommend buying the tickets in advance if you plan to visit during the high season. There are lockers at the entrence of the museums for 1 euro that you get to take back after you leave; and that was very helpful.

Absolute gem of an art museum. All artworks are explained bilingually. Some have family friendly descriptions. Some have fabrics attached for visitors to touch. Two ateliers of restorations are on view. Feels like a living and breathing museum.

I fell in love with this pinacoteca. There are lots of magnificant paintings of various styles, yet dominantly of Renaissance art. It may take 2 hours to finish the tour; however, it depends on how long one takes to admire the beauty of art.

Yes!!! Just Yes!!! I went there and bought a ticket for the next day for 15€ in a machine in front of the museum entrance, cause I think the tickets for the day I went were already sold out But it was 100% worth the wait! The museum has some “fun fact” plaques code to some pieces that were really fun to read and think about along the visit The pieces presented are well placed. I got myself surprised with a Picasso that I was not expecting there too as well a low key Caravaggio and a copy of a Caravaggio that made me kind of confuse at first haha The only downside I would say is that the numbering of the rooms got me confused a bit… I also didn’t have a map, I don’t know if they provide that or not.

It was nice but I think it's unfair that the reduced price is only for Italians and Italian students. Also, it's just my perspective, but I was not educated enough in artists and their paintings inside so I felt kind of just wandering around, recognizing few paintings here and there. If you feel that you're not so good with this part of art, then I would not go. It's just my opinion, though.

Beautiful place with a statue of napoleon (naked???). There is much to see here, but I couldn't visit everything as I was short on time. There is a café on the upper floor, it seems to be quite an experience to sit under these arches and drink an espresso. If you're visiting the Brera neighbourhood (which you should definitely do), passing by the Pinacoteca is a must do.

Surely one of the most captivating museums in Milan. Its purpose to engage with the public is what sets it apart, e.g. stations scattered around the halls for one to create their own interpretation of the art before them; information and quotes below each painting from other artists offering their point of views. A gorgeous variety of art on display, and also the rare possibility of watching an art piece being restored by a specialist live.

  • 5/5 Faith M. 2 years ago on Google
This is a must visit if you’re in Milan. The Brera area and architecture is beautiful enough but the art inside is breathtaking. You could get lost for hours in there. I highly recommend it.

If you're staying in Milan, I highly recommend a visit. You'll find some unique masterpieces. The museum is modest in size, but if you want to fully appreciate the exceptional details and expressions, you can devote a whole afternoon to it. There's also a café where you can take a break.

A pretty interesting place. It has A LOT of paintings. Unfortunately, the audio guide was exclusively in italian... Which I don't know. :) You can read about the paintings tho in English on their side, there are usually a couple of metal plates with explanations. Pleasant building.

Incredible museum that hosts an unbelievably large collection of Italian art, including Caravaggio, Tintoretto, Mategna, Veronese and Raffaello, among many others. An absolute must if you love art, I recommend booking in advance to skip the crowds and spending at least two or three hours here to get a comprehensive view of the most notable artworks.

Very rich and beautiful art museum and exhibition, with masterpieces spanning from the Middle Ages up to the Modernity. The guided tours are very well organized, informative and entertaining: definitely recommended! However, the planning is scarce and it's not always easy to place a reservation for one of them. Additionally, due to the COVID pandemics, the reception organization is somewhat bulky and bureaucratic.

Nice collection mostly from the Renaissance era. Caravaggio is the highlight for sure but there are lots of other masterpieces as well. However, the lighting in some rooms was not appropriate making it difficult to enjoy some parts of the paintings

  • 5/5 Jan K. 1 year ago on Google
A great gallery with an incredible selection of works by renowned artists. I recommend reserving about 2 hours for the visit so that you don't have to rush. Abou a third of the collection focuses o religious motives. If you're lucky you might have the opportunity to observe restoration work on paintings behind a glass enclosure.

I only had a long layover in Milan and I got the chance to check this place out, great collection mainly focusing on religious pieces. The curating was lovely. It’s not something that would take much longer than an hour to view.

This is a beautiful facility with an excellent cafe -- and the pictures ain't so bad either if you like renaissance era portraits. This is a great place to spend up to 1/2 a day. Admission is very reasonable. And, just across from the museum there is a lovely, peaceful public park.

A lovely art museum in a beautiful classical building and university. The paintings were mostly religious themed which can be too heavy to watch (especially Jesus and his suffering) The highlight for me was the modern art pieces, the forum and the university botanical garden (backyard)

I love art, especially by old Italian Masters. Got to witness two of Caravaggio's works. Something about how it's been put together, very easy to read through and understand. There are many small stations with a small desk and pencils for you to stretch your sketching skills.
