Great hike with the best views of lake Como! Starting from Tremezzo, it takes ~4hr, with steep parts at the beginning and the end, but completely doable for everyone who enjoys hiking. Also very cool the tunnel at the middle of the hike. Most of the trail is under the woods (except the last 30'), so you won't die during summer

As others have posted, many reviews do not capture the hike from Tremezzo. Beginning in Tremezzo, it is roughly a 30 minute walk up a bike path to the start of the trail. This walk is uphill in a cobblestone path. The entire hike from the beginning is quite steep, hiking poles would be tremendously valuable for the descent. The path is paved in a light cobblestone that has faded over the years but is still easy to follow. From Tremezzo expect around 4 hours to the peak at a moderate pace. Once you approach the peak you are left at a fork in the road. The first path is nearly a 70 degree angle straight toward the cross and summit (see the second picture) . The second route is a low incline , long switchback that takes quite a bit longer to reach the peak. In our case, we took the straight shot toward the summit. This was the most difficult part of the hike as there really isn't a trail at this point. You're largely holding onto clumps of crabgrass to make the ascent. It is challenging, but the view of the summit is gorgeous. From the summit of monte crocione, you can walk to the mount Tremezzo. Others have mentioned an area to buy drinks and food as well as a car route, perhaps this is near mount Tremezzo but we did not see this whatsoever. The descent was tricky without poles and requires time to avoid falling and the pace is not so fast. In total our time from the ferry, summit, and back was around 7 hours.

Hard work for a competent yet casual hiker. But doable and stunning views along the way, even if you don't want to go all the way to the top. I'd recommend taking at least 3l of water in the Summer!

Very hard walk/climb if you start from tremezzo. It will take you approximately 5 hours to get to the top. The first part is steep and the last part to the crocione is very hard. Bring shoes with grip! Very rewarding though! The view is stunning and gives you a unique view of the area!

Be careful when you start your journey, this hiking path is very difficult even for experienced hikers. Don’t be tempted by bloggers photos, because they are using car almost till mount peak. There is a way from Caddenabia which is longer but easier. Good luck traveller

Non-experienced hiker experience: We hiked up from the top of Tremezzo. The first 1.5 hours is extremely steep rocky pathway that was very difficult to climb. After you reach Monte Brente the path flattens out a little, but still with a good incline. Great views all along the way. Once you reach the military tunnel there is about 1.5 hours left to the reach summit. I gave up at this point because of the pain and started the return 😓 The way down was just as difficult because of the loose stones. Felt a responsibility to share this experience as many of the reviews talk of a pleasant walk. If you’re a non-experienced hiker I’d suggest driving to the top, parking at the refuge and walking from there. Don’t walk from Tremezzo. Up to the military tunnel and back took us 5 hours. Views unbelievable and worth the pain but it was a mission.

Monte Crocciione is so much more than a Mountain.. It has stunning, stunning 360 degree views and a short walk along the ridge you have a rustic restaurant, military fixtures, friendly goats and cows as well as a gorgeous outdoor chapel.. Truly fantastic!

Fantastic mountain and easy to find trails from the lake. Great view over lake Como and a refuge to buy food and drinks not to far from the peak.

Wunderschöner Blick auf den See. Man sollte gutes Schuhwerk tragen, der Anstieg ist nämlich teilweise unwegsam und rutschig.

👍👍 The best botanical garden that I have ever visited! There are numerous exotic plants and trees and some artificial waterfalls and springs. It is really beautiful and there is a spectacular view to the lake from the top of the hill with the olive trees.

👍👍 Beautiful small island. There's a restaurant a place to moor the boats and a path to explore the island walking. Located near a beautiful shore on the western branch of Como Lake. It's worth a trip. Recommended, better on a private boat. In the photo it's possible to see a beautiful historical villa...
