Unfriendly check-in. This place is NOT 5 stars, although the bathroom is 3.5 stars. No plugs in the bathroom. Bedroom smelled like cigarettes. TV got only 2 stations (although it was raining...). Wifi does t work throughout the building, i.e. not in the restaurant. Bad service: example - we wanted to buy some (delicious) cheese, but store wasn't open (even tho it was during open hours). Went back later & asked front desk if it was open now & sold cheese - "yes, and yes". I walked in - no humans and no cheese. Just weird.

The hotel is very nice and the rooms were great. Breakfast was very good and the location is great, only a 10 min walk to the Lello bookstore. My only complaint is the lack of parking. There is a garage across the street that charges e12.50 a day. The problem is that the garage closes on Saturdays at 13:00 AND DOES BOT OOEN UNTIL MONDAY MORNING. otherwise loved it.

special place. In the heart of the countryside. far from anywhere. Quiet. Ancient and magnificent. For those who arrive in the right season, a special vacation awaits you. For those who come out of season... think that you are alone in a huge country estate walking the corridors and walking the gardens and not meeting other visitors. But I have no complaints. Large rooms. a special atmosphere. Basic breakfast. Clean and fresh. Suitable for those who want to travel in the area and are willing to pay for comfort and luxury. Check that you are not alone and that all facilities are active

The hotel and the design are amazing. The service is wonderful. The staff is welcoming. In addition, we received straw hats that went with us throughout the trip. The town is not that interesting and the food in the hotel was not very tasty.

That's an awesome old mantion, with amazingly kept rooms from the beginning of the twentieth century, decorated with tapestry and ancient photos, surrounded by beautiful gardens, a visit to the past in a luxury hotel

A great charm hotel in an historical house. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The gardens are a dream and the rooms are spacious and well equipped. You can take advantage of the restaurant, which is one of the best in the area. The hotel produces its own wine and Incan tell you its incredible. Pickup some bottles to go and you will not regret it.

An amazing experience from the 1800's. One day is not enough to see everything on the property. It has a 5 star Hotel inside, swimming pool, beautiful gardens, olive oil factory, Serra da Estrela cheese Factory, and a lot more of beautiful stuff to see and enjoy....like I said before...one day is not enough to enjoy everything that Quinta da Ínsua has to offer.

Went for bar snacks for lunch. Service was a little slow to start, but was fine, the food was good and the place is really well kept and full of history. Would be nice to be able to try their better wines by the glass. Cute little shop as well. Had a lot of areas for relaxing which is great to make it more intimate in a large hotel. Has a button to call for service so they can all be covered without needing individual staff.

Decent hotel but not a 5 star hotel. Beautiful gardens and great history behind this beautiful Quinta, however they are miles away from the level of service needed and facilities to be classified as a 5 star. 3 star at best.

We had a lovely stay here at Casa da Ínsua, A very interesting property, a rural retreat with lots of history and agricultural aspects, nice place to get away and enjoy a quiet time in the countryside of northern Portugal. This place is for relaxing and reflecting, not much to do except for explore the gardens and appreciate the scenic pastoral landscapes and enjoy some fine Portuguese food & wine. Will fondly remember this visit and would be glad to recommend to anyone who can appreciate a bit of historic hospitality!
