4.5/5 ⭐️ We came on a Thursday night and we were the only people there, but I can imagine it being a great hangout spot on their busier nights. There was a comfy couch, dim lights, wooden tables and chairs, a nice bar, it was clean but not fancy so you can get cosy while enjoying quality food. It wouldn’t be a Brunswick venue if there weren’t any vegan options. 😉 They have a fairly small menu but enough to satisfy your cravings. There’s also a great selection of cocktails but I opted for their Horchata which was divine – the perfect amount of cinnamon and vanilla. Starting off with nachos is always a good decision – they weren’t anything special but they had everything you’d want on them. Guac, sour cream, Pico de Gallo, jalapeño. Their chips were crunchy and there was a good amount of them. I wish the cheese hadn’t gotten so cold so quickly but I guess it’s not really avoidable. Our favourite taco was by far the Tacos de Cochinita. From the first whiff and bite, it was a flavour bomb and the pork melted in your mouth. They were definitely some of the most flavourful pork tacos I’ve had in Melbourne. The pickled onions on top were all you needed and it was perfect. There was a bit of drippage but who cares when it’s this good? Their corn tortillas are lovely and thin but thick enough to carry the weight of their generous fillings. The Tacos al Pastor were also good but our least favourite – the chargrilled pineapple wasn’t sweet, more like a pear, and too small to be recognised. The Beef was also great, the guac and lime a good addition, again seasoned and marinated really well. Only criticism would be the quesadilla – it would’ve benefited from a crunch element of a vegetable as it was mostly cheese and tender chicken. It became boring after a while and the serving is large so I didn’t want to waste stomach space on it. I would 100% return to have their tacos (+ other offerings) again. It seems like such a great spot for drinks and food and in Melbourne, Mexican is hit or miss but these guys are up there and deserve to be recognised for it.

A great addition to Lygon Street. Friendly and attentive service, beautiful food with great vegan options and an excellent cocktail list. Buzzing atmosphere without being too loud or chaotic. We'll definitely be back!

Charming Mexican restaurant on Lygon Street with a laid-back atmosphere and friendly staff The menu is concise but exciting. We tried three of their five taco options and found them all to be yummy, though our favourite was definitely the cochinita 👍🏻 I also really appreciated their drinks menu and we tried both the horchata and the agua de Jamaica. Both were tasty but we found ourselves wishing that they were a little bit less sweet.

What a great dining experience we had! We visited Changos to celebrate our anniversary and everything was great! Service is attentive and friendly, food is delicious and we couldn't stop trying the different tacos and the specials for that night! Special mention to the drinks,we tried the spicy Chilli in Pink, the fresh Veracruz,Changos Unchained and a Negroni! They also had live music which made the atmosphere special! We will be definitely coming back! Gracias!!

    ● June 2023 ● ⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3 stars We had high expectation from review but average experience. Esquites and chicken quesadella were okay. We liked Chipotle mayo which has a little kick to it. Taco 🌮 were simple and we found that onions are too overpowering the taste as a whole. We have had better taco elsewhere so we weren't impressed unfortunately. The place was cozy and comfortable. Dessert, on the other hand, lifted our night. We always like hold and cold desserts. The corn cake was nice. Personally, I find it a bit too dry but once you combine it with sauce, it's good. My partner loved dessert. I think it's a bit pricey but we did order a few dishes and not just taco. Thank you for your service.

Good food, great cocktails, real nice option if you’re feeling Mexican on Lygon. Cochinita tacos were the best of the bunch - super flavourful pork topped with some pickled red onions and a squeeze of lime. Unfortunately, the beef tacos were a bit of a letdown. The marinated beef was bland and a bit chewy, and didn't deliver the same punch of flavor as the other options. Campechano tacos went down well - chorizo more than made up for the lack of flavour in the beef. The two cocktails we had were both good. The Changos Unchained was pretty wicked looking with the activated charcoal and had an interesting flavour. The que guava was very smooth. Would definitely come back but would skip the beef tacos next time. It’d be cool to see a chicken option or even birria tacos on the menu.

Atmosphere is chill. Food. Pastor taco is good. Brisket quality is nice but no seasoning. Found it bland. Mushrooms quesadillas is super avg. not the right cheese blend. Too bad. Drink. Meh. Also listing a traditional Margherita but making it a la Tommy is a faux pas Los Hermanos wouldn’t be happy with.

Taco Wednesday ($5 tacos all night) was such good value. We had the pastor and vegan pastor taco’s and both were lovely. The esquites (charred corn) starter was so delicious 💛 The berry piscurinnia was nice. Only downfall for me was the margarita - bit much lime. Still, it wasn’t the worst marg I’ve had. Service was good too. I’m keen to come back 🌮
