$9 for a side of chips is a bit ridiculous. They didn’t even bring the chips out with the meal, the cook had no idea what was going on unfortunately. It wasn’t really busy but the food took ages to come out and wasn’t brought out all together. Half the table got their food while the other half had to wait 20 min for their food. The salad was limp and old. Save your money and eat somewhere else

Drive-through bottle shop is dope, they sell $25.10 packs of beers which is absolutely banging, although their bags of ice are quite small and the material of the plastic tends to break when you smash the ice so I don’t recommend buying any bags of ice from this place. The pokies is banging on full of old weird people, always a good laugh. The pool table is pretty good although the parmies are frozen microwaveable pieces of chicken that taste like cardboard although they used to be dope when they were 12 bucks with pint. This place definitely has a soft spot for any local individual that likes to sink a cold frothy after a long day of work.

We went there for dinner and a show only. Cant review rooms cause we didnt stay overnight. Our first visit, yet we have lived in the area for over 20 years. Looks a little tired from the outside but a good maintenence effort could easily fix that. Walked into the bistro and was surprised by the amount of people... busy but not full. Carpark didnt show evidence as there were still plenty of spots to park. Great spot for a family dinner or special occasion. Kids playground, pokies, band room, good food, helpful and pleasant staff, pleasant decor... Egyptian style.... brought back school memories.... lol. We ate, we drank some drinks, we went to a show. SKYHOOKS, with Bongo Starkie and band. Great reliving the old favourites. If you get a chance, go along and see them, you wont be dissapointed. Fun night out, will visit again.

Great 10$ sports bar meals. Seems always open. Nice atmosphere. Excellent dining room and meals, pokies or a punt, it's all here. Don't miss it.

A few of us stayed the night in preparation for an event that was on in the events room. Our room smelt heavily of bleach on arrival, that we had to leave the door open to air it out. Our other guest's room had a mixture of bleach and chlorine from the pool it seemed???. We were both in rooms upstairs above the pool. The shower was extremely slippery, that a towel had to be placed on the shower floor to stop accidents occurring. All the beds in both rooms were that uncomfortable to sit on, let alone sleep on without our lower back aching...that our guests checked out of the accommodation at 6:30am the next morning, giving their room key to us to hand in, due to extremely sore backs from their bed. Reception wasn't opened at 9+am to hand back our room keys, that we had to leave our room keys with a secity guard going into the venue as the venue was locked up. Service staff on arrival and during our stay were nothing short of fantastic. Julie at reception was fantastic and people friendly. The Bistro was fantastic and the food was incredible for the price. Overall was glad we only had to stay one night. With lack of sleep from sore backs from our beds our stay was duly affected. Otherwise a great place staff & food wise.

We ate at the restaurant, great customer service. Great food. There was loads of food. Definitely would recommend the restaurant. They even have a play area for the little one.

Friendly staff in bistro and check in but that's the only part of our stay that was enjoyable. Room was very basic to another level, noisy due to events and crowds hanging outside hotel. I will never stay at sphinx nor recommend it

The food is expensive but tastes really good, between 1 PM and 3 PM on a weekday is a good time to be there as well but it's not the type of place I'd go to often because it would send me broke real quick.

Bed was comfortable, room was showing signs of age and minor damages but did the job. I would stay again. Restaurant was excellent

I just have to say this has a great atmosphere with friendly staff. They all so have an Awesome pool team.

For the cost of the meals here it was not good quality at all. Took a long time steak was disgraceful. Seafood tower for 2 was even worse not sure how to even rate this place other than probably ok for a parmie even though we didn't have one and would probably not be much better than what we had and at 200 for lunch for 3 people!!! Would not bother going back here don't mind paying good money for decent food but this was not even average. Very unfortunate as the space is great and something different.

This was have to be the worst motel I have stayed in, the toilet roll holder was held on by clear packing tape, no light bulbs in the above bed lightning, dusty and dirty, the 3 cups were dirty as well as the one saucer and 2 bread and butter plates, ( mind you those 2 plates where there for saucer's for the cup Went over to get clean ones, plenty of staff not doing anything , especially not serving customers Very small rooms, Then we went for dinner that night, I had a chicken Kiev, extremely dry no garlic butter sauce, the plate was full of rice, again extremely dry, salad was mixed lettuce, 1 cherry tomato and a whole 4 small greated strips of carrots. Again heaps of service no service. You can see the chefs and kitchen staff. From the dining area, the headchef,white coat was loud and big noting himself to those under him. Shame he didn't look after the product coming out of the kitchen. When we booked we where inform to book a table because they where so busy. We booked for 7pm, there was lucky to have maybe 1/4 capacity, by the time we left there was less, highly staffed doing nothing, as in customer service, they where just playing and communicating with each other. We stayed on Monday 20 Feb 2023. Rm 10

The staff are wonderful and the facilities are unique, reasonable and good for families.... but... this is not a $40 Steak and the Long Island Ice Teas are equally disappointing. The schnitzel and parmi's are definitely winners, so maybe just avoid the beef?? We ordered two drinks, two mains and spent $100.

Went for fathers day lunch. Very busy but got all our meals in a reasonable time. Very nice meal, l must say...😊

Great pub grub here, great service, fast fresh food and good value for money. Pep had chicken schnitz chips and salad all made and plated fresh I went the linguine marinara.... caused a riot of laughter from kitchen because I asked for linguine marijuana..... only could happen to me. They got a laugh out of it.

I would like to thank Leon and his staff for being very welcoming, friendly and helpful with us in our time of grief. The room was the perfect size and the food was excellent. Thank you all.

Such a great menu at affordable prices. I’m gradually working my way through the menu and haven’t had a bad experience yet! Child friendly food and atmosphere, with a great little play area. I always book but I noticed that the staff go out of their way to seat those who are walk ins. Heaps of parking close to the entrance. I’m a people watcher and see a variety of patrons- tradies in boots and hi vis, families in casual gear, special occasion diners with guests dressed to the nines. Everyone is made welcome here. I’m a regular diner and plan to continue.

Tonight me and my family went to the sphinx for dinner. Our youngest child decided to have a tantrum which was embarrassing but the ladies at the counter were helpful and understanding. Wonderful staff and venue. Food was amazing too

Polyester sheets in the motel are not a good thing these days. Both meals we ordered were a little overcooked. The Chicken Kiev was not filled with garlic butter, but rather a cold dollop of garlic butter placed on top when plating the food. The Asian beef stir-fry was overly coated in a spicy sauce meaning it was gluggy and too spicy.

Friday nights in the sports bar area have karaoke.and the locals are the best people if your in trouble they all have your back and help you. Thank you locals.and to Steph and Cameron who are the karaoke people.nice people

After a very clumsy accident on the morning of an event at the Sphinx, I called not knowing what footwear I could even were. Staff were super understanding & more helpful than I could of expected. Made for a fantastic & comfortable night out

Waited an hour and a half for my food. My mates steak was cooked completely wrong after waiting that long and another one got his food 30 minutes after everyone else had already had there's. No apology from staff and the chef said that the food had already been given out despite the fact there was no food present. Will not be eating here again.

Birthday celebration, private room, delicious food and staff were amazing. Haven't been there in years but will definitely eat there again. Thank you Jess

Had Christmas here last year, and couldn't speak higher of the Sphinx. Awesome menu for dining, professional friendly staff, and a great gaming area. Highly recommended by myself and my family.

We had a really bad experience here on a steak night. Our steak was not cooked as we requested and we all went home feeling a little disappointed, waking overnight to feel a little unwell was the worst part of it all. The playground was not clean - rubbish strewn and the dining chairs in the bistro were wobbly due to age. I don’t think we will go back based on the above. Such a shame as it’s an iconic of Geelong.

The mattress Couldn't have been flipped once more! Horrible place.. I would have been better, having a shower out side with the garden hose.. never again will I stay there

Our room was dirty (really need to replace the dirty carpets), the place was loud (fights at 1.00am in the car park) and they don't have a key return box to check out. Had to wander around and find a maintenance worker to return the key.

A fabulous experience and the staff went out of their way to ensure our plans went well. The restaurant and lounge venues were excellent. It is an easy short drive to the waterfront and Deakin. We will definitely stay there again.

Great live band venue. Staff are really welcoming, friendly and helpful. Food is really good with generous serving sizes.

Brilliant place to stay. Bistro serves delicious meals, and very large portions so you won't go hungry. Thoroughly enjoyed this place and definitely be there again.

Meal was nice. Had the seafood basket for two & had trouble getting through it all. The place looks totally wild with it's Egyptian style modelling. So unconventional & so different makes it really stand out from the crowd. Family chose this place as we have kids & they have a great children's playground. Also a massive TV screen for watching the footy.

Had dinner there. Food was actually quite good. Not MasterChef standard but I devoured the flathead fillets. Bar service was a bit slow but most places are anyway

We have eaten at the bistro on a number of occasions and always leave very happy. This chef does his steaks exactly how you order them, blue, rare, or medium.

Dropped in for the $10 special expecting a snack so it was a nice surprise to eat a good sized meal. Well coked, spicey drumsticks served with vegetables, the plate was overflowing and the food quite nice. Not sure how they are doing it for the price. Restaurant is clean, well lit and spacious.

Took the kids here because of the fantastic staues and they loved it. What a cool place inside & out. Staues were fab for photo opportunities. Playground was a massive hit with the kids. The food was good 👍 Service was good and the Fruit Tingle Cocktail 🍸 was yum! We will visit again but we did not stay overnight this time. Access was easy and flat for elderly or wheel chair access ❣️Really Cool Beer Garden and smokers lounge.

Room was lovely and clean , all the usual in your room ... The food was absolutely incredible 😋 we had the karma chicken and the beef cheeks . Definitely come back here again. Such lovely staff also 5☆ SERVICE

Good value meals. Kids play area is good. It’s a basic pub meal. Nothing fancy.

Went for the steak night and the food was excellent. Steak was perfectly cooked. Service was fast and friendly. $12 for a glass of brown brothers Moscato was way over the top.

The family and I went out for dinner in the pharoah bistro.. great meals and fast, amazing service and the decor was pretty cool too.. even spotted a pac man in the hieroglyphics.
