Enjoyed a lovely meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The service was excellent and the food well presented and good quality. It was a bonus that our dog was also welcomed which made the evening relaxing and comfortable. We will certainly return if we're in the area again.

Spending a couple of nights in Alnwick between Christmas and New Year. Hotel suggested the Market Tavern. What a great place! Straight forward, unassuming market town pub with excellent service (thanks Cooper), excellent food (perfectly cooked ribeye) and a nice welcoming environment. Well done!!! Totally recommend, if you decide to try it out I’m sure you will not be disappointed.

Visited here twice during our week un Alnwick. Very friendly helpful staff. Smiley and pleasant. Food was really good. We booked in advance for a Tuesday night...just as well we did as they had to turn people away who hadn't booked. The staff here are well trained and informative. Nothing seems any trouble to them even when the place was busy+++ I would def recommend. Top tip:book in advance for food.

Absolutely amazing, from a bad experience at a rival hotel (premier) we came here for food , without a booking. The chap we spoke to ( manager probably) amazing yes of course here's a table , the staff young ladies, well mannered, attentive happy and smiling. The food outstanding excellent taste and top notch well worth a visit or several. Prices good . I'd say the best place to eat, drink, relax and stay in Alnwick. Faultless, A Credit to All Staff.

Cosy tavern. Very dog friendly. Absolutely spectacular Sunday roast. Melt in the mouth beef & pork. Gorgeous real gravy! Very generous portion, couldn't manage a desert. Even though the ones that passed our table looked amazing! Although busy the staff were very pleasant, helpful & smiling! Will be visiting again when in Alnwick!

Delicious Sunday roast! Beef brisket and boyfriend had roast pork. Very tasty dinner, 5 different vegetables and a huge potion. We really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. Lovely traditional pub with friendly and helpful staff. Well done for great food and service 😉

Visited for an evening meal. Initial impression almost put us off, the pub internal windows sills are cluttered which gave a big of a grubby impression, and it was hard to see in to see if this continued inside, but we're really glad we looked past that and actually went in. The pub is very clean inside, and we'll set out. Staff are friendly, very efficient and welcoming. The food was delicious, a good choice on the menu for everyone, the Belly Pork was stunning, Chicken winna burger delicious and service very well paced and attentive. A good selection of drinks, including some fabulous cocktail options that made me wish we'd come when I wasn't driving! Would definitely recommend and will visit again on our next trip to Alnwick.

Enjoyed a delicious meal here on a wet Friday night. The place was packed, it's very popular so make sure you book. It is a large space with plenty of tables. I opted for the lamb chop which was accompanied by potato terrine and greens and a wonderful gravy. Hubby had the shepherds pie which he also said was delicious. With generous portions there was no room for desert. Service was fast and professional.

I've eaten in a lot of amazing restraunts all around the world and I must admit the food we had here has to be one of if not the best I've had. Everything was cooled to perfection and the service was brilliant too. Well done to all the market tavern staff.

Was doing some shopping with my mother a few months ago in Alnwick and couldn’t decide where to have lunch we definitely made the right decision we weren’t to hungry so just shared a couple starters they were really nice and as it was a quite quiet afternoon we had a good chat with some of the staff who great I will Occasionally pop in after work for a drink and there’s always a great atmosphere. Lovely place highly recommend : )

We stopped here for a quick lunch after another place had no dog friendly tables left. Very glad the other place couldn't take us. We split the mac and cheese and the chateaubriand (medium rare, closer to rare) and it was delicious. They nailed it on the meat and the mac and cheese was a good side. The food was so good we managed to leave room for desert and it was worthwhile. We will stop here again if ever in the area

Just had a roast dinner here, the food was beyond delicious, cannot rate it high enough. The best roast dinner I have had in years, the meat melted, Yorkshire were light & fluffy, vegetables were plentiful, choice was amazing! Staff were so welcoming, helpful & friendly…this is a must if you’re visiting Alnwick!! Thank you…

My wife is gluten-intolerant and we were struggling to find somewhere for lunch in Alnwick that had decent gluten-free options until we found this place. Food was excellent and staff were very attentive to our requirements, even departing from the strict menu to suit us. Also dog-friendly! Would definitely visit again.
