While staying at Chard we came here for food because it was one of the top rated places to have food. I can happily say that we were not disappointed. The food is all cooked fresh and the ingredients come from their farm. They have good portions but if you want a smaller portion you just ask and obviously it will be cheaper as well. We enjoyed our food that much that we went a second time. If you go down to chard I would recommend going there for food. The shop was good too. They sell some interesting stuff and we picked up a couple of things for people back home. We will definitely go again if we go back to chard.

Much improved over the last year with a new layout and the addition of a flower shop. The deli counter has an improved range with many local cheeses as well as a good choice of local pies, meats and many other deli staples. The butchery section is as good as ever with choice cuts of local meat. Excellent cafe on site. This farm shop had most things that you could want. Local beers and cider are some of my favourites. Very good access from the A30 and ample parking make this a highly recommended stop off.

Visited for lunch (excellent, 5 stars) and then bought some produce from the shop as we left (found to be distinctively average later, 2 stars). It's easy to find and has plenty of parking. It was very busy (this was expected and didn't create a problem for us but could sometimes result in a wait for a table). Plenty of choice for a lunchtime menu, I had the breakfast roll which was very good and my wife the vegetable pasty which she also enjoyed. On the way out I purchased some beef wellingtons (one proved to be very stringy), a pork pie (which is the worst pork pie I've ever eaten, the pastry did not appear cooked, was hard and thick. I ate the pork and threw the rest away). I'm hoping the wild boar sausages are OK when I get around to trying them. We'd return to use the restaurant but I'd not buy from the shop.

What a lovely little campsite with amazing views over Somerset. Drinking water, grey and black waste emptying and EHU available and also two loos, which are quite basic but very clean. Fabulous farm shop and cafe. We can highly recommend the full English breakfast!

Definitely the best farm shop I've been to. Not particularly for fruit and veg but fantastic butcher and deli counters. Great frozen section. Huge array of condiments and dry goods. Lots of local produce. Very generous on cake portions in the café. Very 'dangerous' gift section. Could have bought most of it. Had to keep to a couple of early Christmas presents. Will definitely return (often).

Probably the most awful cafe breakfast we have ever had.i would advise anybody NOT to have a full English breakfast after 12 noon, you get the left overs which are all re -heated, the eggs were so fried and hard you could use them as Frisbees, the bacon was so tough you could land a helicopter on it, the potatoes were so hard a tractor would catapult , The sausages were tough as a cow hoof. Never again, so be warned. Their lucky I gave them 1.

We went in at Sunday lunch time and my husband and I were there for 45 minutes before our order was taken. We thought maybe we should order at the bar but were cut off mid order by one of the older ladies working there. Not a smile in sight and told our order would be taken at the table very soon. After this it was another 20 minutes at least before a waitress came over to take our order. If you don't have enough staff then close off some of your tables so that the customers that are there can at least be served. I cannot comment on food as we only ordered drinks in the end as we didn't have time to wait for hot food to come out.
