Beautiful Queen Anne style Victorian home built in 1906 and wonderfully preserved like a museum. It is one of the last homes of this style ever built. Even the toiletries are in place. The garden had been reconstructed in the Victorian style, with an abundance of beautiful roses, many of them period accurate old English varieties. It's a particularly large home with a carriage house on the grounds. When it was built you could see the ocean from the second floor glass paned patio. Take the tour for more fascinating details, they even decorate the house during Christmas for a themed tour. Check out the Wikipedia page for more info on the home and Dorothy, the last owner of the house before it was donated to the historical society around the turn of the century (she was murdered in the backyard!)

This is a 1904 historic home in the Willmore area of Long Beach. The home is decorated inside and out. As you drive up you see beautiful Christmas lights. Some of the neighborhoods in the city of Long Beach help to decorate inside the house. Fundraiser tours are held during the month of December. Plus much more... Volunteers make all this happen. It's a beautiful experience to come here.

We had Mother's Day brunch. It was excellent! Food was delicious, an array of crab, shrimp, prime rib, fruit, omelet bar!! Too much to name!! Staff was also beyond helpful! I definitely recommend and attend again.

I grew up across the street from this house in 92 to about 95 and would go over to visit friends. We were all so terrified of the house and the lady. We all thought she was a witch. She would stand at her window and push the curtain to the side and stare. I remember seeing her one day at the market and I screamed and ran outside. My mom laughed at me. She never bothered anyone but so so many kids and even adults would mess with her. They would throw alcohol bottles over the fence on the back. Play ding dong ditch. Yell at her. Looking back all she wanted was peace and quiet. I'm so sorry for all the havoc that was caused to you.

They don’t build houses like this anymore. Glad to see it still standing. Looks well kept.

This is a beautiful backdrop! Great place for wedding photos. However, I attended my nieces wedding here. The wedding coordinator is the most unprofessional argumentative person I’ve ever seen. He dropped a box of liquor that the family bought and it shattered everywhere. Family had to replace it the day of the wedding. Place settings were not done. We found name cards that were never unpacked. I could go on and on!! I worry that another bridal party could have this experience!! I would never recommend having your wedding here.

What a beautiful experience! The tour was holiday themed. The tour guides shared stories of where different Christmas traditions came from. It was very interesting! Can't wait to go back to see and learn more about the history. One tip... Get there early! Parking can be a big a problem. After driving around, I got lucky. My friends drive around for quite a while not finding anything. I asked if they offer refunds. I wish I got the lady's name, but one of the tour guides offered for them to park behind her car. Behind the house, there was space for her to move her car forward and they parked behind her. I highly recommend the tour of this beautifully preserved 1906 home. All the furnishings are original. Go and learn a lil bit about the beginnings of Long Beach, the home and Christmas traditions.

The first tour we experienced was A Victorian Christmas. It was an evening event, and the beauty of the home, and history of the neighborhood and Christmas tradition of days gone by was so interesting. It is even more lovely in the daylight. The attention to detail, and unique features of the home make it a "must see" for history fans.

What an awesome gem to have here in LA County. Its magnificently preserved and, everyone is so nice. I went for the Victorian Christmas and it was decorated so beautifully. The place is awesome and I loved learning about the house and former owner. 2 curious things. I did research after I returned home and they mention that the house was in the family for 80 years. Dorothy lived in the house alone for over 30 years.Imagine my horror discovering afterward in own research that poor Dorothy was actually murdered somewhere on the grounds and found in the backyard in 1999!! The city acquired the property the very next year. I am in no means imply the city had anything to do with her murder, what I am saying is I was shocked as I was very much alive in 1999. The researched also showed Dorothy seemed to love this house, how many more years couldshe have loves and lived in thia beautiful hime had she made it to the millennium. I know it would be a downer but while talking extensively about Dorothy and Hazel no mention is made of her murder and I'm curious if they do mention it in the regular tours. 2nd curious was the theme this year was Christmas tree and..well you know what never mind but one od their Christmas tree facts is just a myth but since ita not related to the house forget it. I cant wait to go back to do a regular tour.

Wonderfully preserved Victorian home and contents displayed largely as if the hostess were in her boudoir. A true gem!
