Beautiful hotel conveniently located within the walls of Old Cartegena. This former monastery has been well preserved and fashioned into a peaceful, tranquil property. The interior courtyard is a great place to have a meal, and the pool complex is expansive and inviting. The lounge bar offers expertly made cocktails and live music. The fine-dining restaurant and rooftop cocktail bar are only open Thursday-Saturday, so we sadly were unable to sample them. Service was exceptional from check in to check out. Highly recommended and amazing value.

We had a great memories of our staying in this beautiful hôtel. The staffs are very helpful and polite and fast responsive. Pedro and Carlos were very friendly and helpful. I just have a few little comments that I would like to share here. About the food, the breakfast is very good specially with all the selection of the good breads and croissants, the quality is very good, the fruit shots every morning is very pleasant. Although the juice bar needs more work and can be more attractive. We also had experiences in the restaurant and the food was okay and good but not the 5 star. The desserts were a disappointment. I know that they look nice and the chef is trying to give similar to French dessert but taste is not good at all and also they need a real refrigerating during display. Even the temperature of the desserts was not appropriate in this hot weather. As a pastry Chef I recommend some simple and elegant desserts from your local ingredients but very delicious so your customers can finish their meal with the nice taste and memories of your restaurant. By the way I ordered a fruits plate at my room and I loved it , The fruits are spectacular here and you present them beautifully. One more thing, please be considered that some people need to sleep a little early but the music inside the hotel bar is very loud and staying very late. Thank you in advance

This place is worth every penny! The people are beautiful, welcoming, and most of all kind. The rooms are a little outdated, but for the most part you don’t spend a lot of time in your room. The hotel has everything you need and it’s conveniently located to shops and restaurants. The staff goes above and beyond to accommodate you. I highly recommend this place. They nailed “customer service”! I will return!

Cartagena offers a unique combination of culture and gastronomy that matches ideally with a legendary hotel like Santa Clara. We booked a Junior Republican Suite for four days, and our experience was outstanding. The hotel offers a colonial environment with comfortable facilities and premier customer service. We booked a rate that included a buffet-style breakfast. Our recommendation to visitors is to use the entire suite of services of the restaurant (e.g., juice bar) to complement the buffet. We also booked a 90-minute relaxing massage in the Spa, where we enjoyed a peaceful time, but our experience was average. This was the only aspect of our stay that didn't comply with our expectations. The best part of our stay was the customer service. Each of the hotel staff is committed to enabling your experience. The butler team, whose services are included when you book a suite, helped us throughout our vacation to select the best restaurants, make and modify reservations, and recommend good places for shopping—a shout-out to Ernesto. He always walked the extra mile to provide outstanding service and made us want to return to the hotel, booking a suite again. After traveling to several countries in Latin America, I can rank it as the best hotel in South America.

Super shady that my husband’s well written, truthful, 2 star review was deleted… To reiterate what he said, staff was not welcoming and hardly broke a smile, we could hear 3 different types of songs from our downstairs poolside room, and the bathroom smelled like rotten egg even after the problem was addressed once. Our other hotel was cheaper and a lot nicer. Super disappointed for our honeymoon phase of the trip. Only plus side was the gorgeous common areas.

We had our wedding here. Operations managers completely reneged on everything their subordinate managers agreed with us on (what we discussed for one and a half years). Stopped servicing us room service and prevented our family from seeing us in our massive hotel room because there is a 2 person limit in any hotel room. So we couldn't have our parents who flew halfway around the world in our room with a jacuzzi and 8-person outdoor seating because "it only fits 2 people". Of course, during the planning of all of these events this was discussed with the "hotel manager". Of course, jacuzzi also didn't work, neither did A/C or shower drain half the time. Do not, under any circumstances, stay here or use this hotel for anything. We stayed here once before the wedding and had to leave on the first day due to lack of running water in the hotel rooms. Chose it for venue not the hotel rooms and service but it was a mistake anyway. We had 50-something rooms. This was probably the biggest waste of time and money in our lives. Will list the names of the operations managers and update post in a bit. Extremely disrespectful and unethical. Update: Daniella the "manager" replied below but she's not actually the manager and everything promised by her was reneged on by her "higher ups". A video is posted here on day six of our stay showing the maintenance trying to fix the jacuzzi. But as everyone can clearly see, the response to our complaint after booking rooms for 50+ people is "that's not true, it didn't happen". Pretty absurd service. Thank you for illustrating my point, Daniella. Your management behaves ethically and does not stand by their business commitments. Very very sad and very clear. We have even more videos of dirty water, flooding, AC not working. Happy to post more to help everyone in the world avoid doing business with you.

We had a wonderful time at Sofitel. The hotel is beautiful with a lot of cool history. I recommend taking the tour that is offered by the hotel on the history of the hotel. The service and staff overall are a big highlight of the stay. Jimmy was so nice and we enjoyed our tour of the hotel with him. We also were surprised by our waiter at the 1621 restaurant (the night after our meal there) with my husbands favorite passion fruit ice cream made at the 1621 restaurant. He also gave us local fruits with pamphlets on the variety of fruits they used in our meal. Definitely a wonderful surprise!

This place certainly deserves it's 5 stars. Hot & cold running staff who generally all speak good English and cannot do enough for you. A very good buffet breakfast with a variety of places to sit. It is also well situated. We tend to think guests who stay inside such places at night, rather than venturing out to sample the very good bars and restaurants on offer, are unimaginative. However, in this instance they were smarter than us because the streets teem with hawkers and you get offered something roughly once every minute. This is not so bad as you can politely say no and keep moving. One big tip!! Do not sit at outside cafés to enjoy the ambience. You are a sitting target. You will be relentlessly targeted by tourist tat, cigars, jewellery, pictures and a procession of would be musicians.

Absolutely amazing hotel, a truly 5-star experience! Staff are incredible and go out of their way to make sure your stay is pleasant. From Jesus welcoming special guests to the mayordomos (thank you Rudy, Diego, Amaury and Armando!) and everyone else in the hotel. The facilities are stunning and full of history and the food is amazing in all restaurants. I highly recommend the restaurant 1621 for amazing fine dining! Can’t wait to go back one day!

Lovely hotel in the walled city in Cartagena. Location is great, very easy to walk to most locations in that neighborhood. The service at this establishment is impeccable and we enjoyed the butler amenity that is available. Rooms are spacious and well-appointed. The pool area is absolutely beautiful and the drinks served at the pool bar were all tasty. Definitely an older crowd at this hotel compared to some other places we've stayed in this area.

My wife and I celebrated our wedding here and everybody involved went above and beyond to make our stay as perfect as possible. Juan Pablo and his team paid a lot of attention to details and every single employee, from the luggage handlers to the restaurant staff to housekeeping was incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. The best hotel I've ever stayed at (in the unique Botero suite)!

One of the most beautiful hotel properties in the world. Absolutely stunning views all around, fantastic food and service and super friendly staff. This is what a true 5 star experience should feel like. I woke up half an hour early just so I could stare out to the ocean and pool courtyard from the balcony of my lovely room. I so hope I can come back soon!

Our reception was exceptionally brilliant and helpful specially German and Catalina went beyond and above the line of duty to help us. Our stay was made easy and smooth by their help. Food and restaurant are great. View from the room and in the middle was stunning. Although we came for business this time but definitely I’ll come to Cartagena again and Sofitel Santa Clara is the place to stay in Thanks staff of Santa Clara Special gratitude to German and Catalina Ala

The guys that helped us, Jimmy Orozco, Jose Manuel and Robinson were so wonderful! There wasn’t a moment that they weren’t there to make sure we had everything we needed! The best food, honestly the greatest service and such a gorgeous romantic environment, we visited twice in our short stay and can’t wait to visit again! Thank you Jimmy, Jose and Robinson for the best service ever.

We loved staying at this hotel, it is absolutely amazing. It is located in the historical part of the city with easy access to some of the best restaurants. The rooms are absolutely stunning, we stayed in a suite that has two floors. The food has been delicious and the service has been impeccable. Ask for Jesus or Dalexandro in the garden lobby restaurant, they went out of their way to get my husband the banana bread he loved from breakfast.

My husband and I stayed here for our 4th year wedding anniversary and had a wonderful time. This place is absolute paradise. Everything was amazing, and the level of service is unbeatable. During our stay, the staff knew it was our anniversary and they went out of their way to make us feel extraordinary. We’d like to give a special shout out to Jimmy, Robinson, and Karina for making our stay so special. We would absolutely stay here again, and would recommend to all our loved ones, because we know we/they would be well taken care of.

Fabian is amazing. He makes the best cocktails ever. Honestly we wanted to stay with Sofitel here but booked too last minute. The best bar in the city! Cocktails were amazing and delicious! Don’t go anywhere else!

Leo and Jimmy received our 6 people party with such warmth and kindness, making our experience unique and tasteful. With a wide selection of dishes and thorough explanation of their recipes, the waiting staff has surpassed our expectations!!! A night to remember

A spectacular hotel and the staff (from the doormen to the pool staff) are amazing! An extra special staff member, Jimmy, was kind and always helpful. He made our anniversary, which we just mentioned in passing, extra special by surprising us with rose petals in the shape of a heart on our bed. After a hot day in the sun it was a lovely surprise. It is these small gestures that makes the Sofitel Santa Clara first class. We will be back! Thank you again.

Stayed there for vacation in Cartagena in November 2022. This hotel is an absolute oasis within Cartagena. Situated in the old convent Santa Clara, it combines the charm of the old monastery with a modern 5 star luxurious hotel. Rooms are super clean, bed is very comfortable and wheelchair accessible rooms work great for guests with special mobility needs / in a wheelchair. Food is very good and prices are ok. Pool is amazing but very cold / not heated and had no lift for persons with mobility impairments so you have to have upper body strength to get in and out of the pool. Hotel is mostly wheelchair accessible but both the only entrance to the hotel and also the courtyard do have some steps and there is no ramp which is sort of poor for a hotel of that class / price. Staff is very friendly and helpful though.

Amazing Spa service, everyone was super friendly and welcoming. Sonia was my massage therapist and I can honestly say she gave me the best massage I have ever had. Will definitely be coming back and I definitely recommend everyone go here for some self care. My wife’s massage therapist was Shirley and she did an amazing job as well. Love this resort and Columbia!!!

Our rooms were nice but not at the level for what we paid. Food was amazing. Our roof leaked and flooded, so we had to move rooms, which was a downgrade. They compensated us with free breakfast, which was nice, but the experience was tough for a 5 star resort.

This hotel is an amazing and beautiful property in a perfect location. Outstanding customer service seems to be their motto. Diego, Carlos, Gabriel and Maria A. we're always available for help, suggestions and information in a very personal way making us feel at home. Carlos gave us an awesome historical tour of the hotel we were completely unaware of. Sofitel Legend has the best employee's on their staff. This has been our second visit here of hopefully many more in the future.

Beautiful hotel with rich culture and history. The staff was wonderful and they certainly went over and beyond (birthday weekend celebration). I’ve recommended this hotel to all of my friends and family — truly 5 star accommodations and service.

First time visiting Cartagena. So glad we stayed at Hotel Santa Clara. What a beautiful place!! It’s right in the old city, they views are amazing and the service incomparable. Juliette provided an excellent service day and night. The food and presentation has been better than any place I have visited. Definitely recommend staying at Santa Clara Hotel!

A memorable stay and wish flights were more convenient so that I could come back repeatedly! The hotel is gorgeous, rooms are fantastic, service is top notch, great location, breakfast is generous, and the pool is huge and clean. 5 stars all around.

Highlight of our holidays in Colombia!!! Heaven might not exist on earth but this is as close as you could get!! From when you step in the hotel where you feel the genuine service everywhere!!! People are genuinely very excited to greet and assist you! The rooms are amazing, the beds and pillows are the best, like sleeping on a cloud!!! The bathroom products (l'Occitane) are a great plus!!! The whole place just looks super nice, everything is smooth, nothing is out of place, all goes together in one big picture!! The big pool in the middle of the second atrium is just wonderful and peaceful! The spa is a haven within this heaven, the ladies are extremely kind and the treatments are great! The breakfast is superb with a great selection of fruits!! If I had to dig and find a less positive point, it would be the price of the cocktails at the bar (80.000 cop for a cocktail...)

Gabriel our concierge was the epitome of customer service! The saying “going above and beyond” was created for people like him! He took care of us even before we arrived at the lovely hotel. He sent a driver to pick us up from the airport, scheduled our dinner reservations for every night, suggested and brought to fruition our daily excursions. He also made sure we got back to the airport for our departure, and proceeded to check on us to make sure that we made it home safely. What a sweetie! The entire staff was so welcoming, friendly, and attentive. I recommend staying here if you are considering a trip to Cartagena..Thanks again Gabriel!
