Roaches. That's all I'm gonna say. First of all on arrival no welcome drink or cool water, bear in mind 31°+ degrees. Instead of helping us right away with our bags the receptionist asked us if we were actually in the right place. Duh. We booked two rooms, one double room that's pretty run down (will add some pictures soon) second one was better (triple accomodation connecting rooms). Checking the room we noticed the bed was dirty with what seemed to be makeup. Towels missing. No closet or place to put our suitcase. We went for a stroll upon return to our room we had a cockroach 🪳 flying from the roof onto our bed. I made a video in case they didn't believe us. Went down to the reception, they didn't think it was a big deal, I asked them if it was possible to get another room, they said they had no accomodation. So i asked them to remove the roach and to fumigate the room. They tried to justify the cockroach with the vegetation but we just came from Palomino where we didn't see any roaches. Btw after this fiasco we got a better hotel in the same area with wayyyy better service and breakfast for the fraction of the price Hotel Boutique La Artillería | Hotel en Cartagena de indias. You won't regret it!

I absolutely loved this hotel! The staff here was so incredibly kind and helpful. After checking out and waiting for my taxi, the supervisor asked me if there was anything he could do to improve! I really have no complaints. The free breakfast is awesome and full service. The pool is great with an amazing view. Overall, such a beautiful place. Thank you so much for one of my favorite hotel experiences.

My family and I enjoyed our stay. The location was perfect and we got to enjoy the experience of the city. The rooftop was a gem and loved our days at the pool. The drinks were amazing as well. The staff was very nice and welcoming; They made sure that everything was to our satisfaction. The rooms were spacious and had all the amenities that you need, except that we had a little issue with the safe, but it doesn’t change the fact that we slept comfortably and safely during our stay. We surely would come back again!

No running water. The front desk manager offers me a bottle of water, what use is that?! Can’t shower in a bottle of water. Can’t use the toilets. I saw the chef washing his hands in the fountain because the whole hotel is out.

Again another top notch experience. We arrived 3 hours early they happily took our bags and held onto them until room was ready. They got us cold drinks because it was very hot. Offered to get us a cab, gave us a room upgrade. Location is Amazing, pool is very large for a rooftop pool, the bedroom had 2 kings 1.5 baths, rooftop balcony access from the room. This is honestly perfect and I will happily stay here every time I come to cartagena.

Just stayed at this hotel with my girlfriend. Unfortunately my rather expensive Samsung wireless earphones went missing during our stay. The earphones never left the room except for one occasion when I brought them up to the pool/rooftop area. But I 100% brought them back to the room after this, as my girlfriend used them to make a phone call that evening. The next morning we went out for a walk and came back and there were cleaners in our room. It was after this that I noticed the earphones were missing. It doesn't take a genius to work out they were stolen by the cleaners. The staff, while otherwise very helpful, didn't offer much help at all after I reported them missing. It's like they didn't want to know about it/didn't care. A disappointing end to our time in Colombia.

Older but romantic hotel. Close to yacht harbor and within the old city walls. Perfectly kept place with charm and a very spacious room.

Location was great compared to the other options. Breakfast has options for most people to find something good to eat. speaking specifically of the room we got, seemed the recently painted some of the wood and there was a very strong odor of varnish. to make matters a bit worse the bathroom does not have an extractor so the humidity stays in the room. the provided dehumidifier was not working as it kept shutting off saying it was full when it was not. Aside from that, the room was very comfortable.

Loved this hotel however there is no natural light in any of the rooms and they are very dimly lit. It is about a 10-15min walk from the walled city meaning it is in a nice peaceful area. The breakfast is pretty good and changes everyday.

This hotel was OK I think it was quiet dated and needed upgrades. The pictures were kinda of exagerrated as the property condition/rooms were not the same. It is not a true 5 star hotel I would say, more on the 3-3.5 stars side. Asides from that the hotel was fine - friendly staff, OK breakfast and clean rooms.

This hotel was a bit of a disappointment. We didn’t have hot water for the entirety of our stay. I asked the front desk about it twice, and it was never fixed. There were other things that were obviously missing or badly done: no box of tissues, shaking and noisy AC, and a trash bin that hadn’t been cleaned for weeks. The staff were apologetic about the lack of any hot water, and they mentioned they would let me know about a potential discount—but no discount ever came, and I didn’t want to spend my vacation arguing with hotel staff after already talking to staff twice. The staff were nice, and the bed was clean, but this is closer to a 2 star hotel. Not 5 star. I had high expectations for this place, and I was disappointed.

The room was spacious and well air conditioned. The location was good, about a 15 min walk to the clock tower / touristy spots and 3 mins away from the popular Getsemani neighborhood. Also about a 20 min walk to the castle. The breakfast was delicious! Great hotel overall! Side note: if you stay here, there’s a restaurant right in front of it with a view of the city. The portions are very small and the food is not so good for the price they charge. There’s better restaurants nearby. They just charge for the “View” it seems like.

Spacious room and great breakfast. We enjoyed the pool but wish there were more pool chairs.

Very nice job in the remodeling of this hotel. It also is a reminder of what should happen to all of the historic sites in this city. Rooms are comfortable. With morning comes a wonderful array of dishes and variety of delicious treats available for breakfast in the restaurant. Arquitecture has been well kept and mantains its historical value of the past.

What a beautiful hotel! The double rooms are 2 stories with a bedroom/bath and common area on the first level and a huge loft with another bed/bath on the second level. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms, though small, fully equipped. The atrium is a wonderful place to relax and eat breakfast. Be careful, the birds might come steal your food! There is also inside seating for bad weather. There is a city view from the third floor pool and bar. The staff members are great, the concierge always ready to help the visitor.

As soon as we walked in, the 4 men sitting began to giggle and smirk at each other. The check in was so uncomfortable & short. I’m don’t count on a front desk for the typical services you would get from one. We already had a disgusting feeling. They walked us to Our room that had mold all over the walls, roaches running as we open the door, Noooo and stains on the bed and pillow cases. A beat down window. I’m honestly in awe with Expedia having this on their site. Don’t let the pics fool you because I thought we were in the wrong place originally compared to what I saw online. Sad part is that 5 minutes after arriving we felt the need to walk out of there in this foreign city to find another place to stay. It was a nightmare. They offered me a different room but I didn’t feel safe here at all. The room looked worst than a prison cell. I was chatting with Expedia during this time in regards to what was happening at the moment. They got ahold of the hotel after two weeks and multiple Phone calls & the hotel refused to refund us because they “offered us another room” . Absolutely DISGUSTING hotel. I have no issue losing the $$$ we spent to book this hotel because our safety felt it was at risk here. I do Not Recommend This Hotel.

We had a very big room on the ground floor. It was quite dark because it only had a small window, but given the heat outside and the location close to the beautiful old part of Cartagena I would not consider that a disadvantage. We loved to have breakfast in the beautiful courtyard/patio where you can watch birds taking their morning bath in the fountain. But be careful, one of them pooped on me! 😀 We continued our breakfast inside then 😀 In the evening, we went for a swim in the small pool on the rooftop and enjoyed the view. We can definitely recommend the hotel, especially when you want to visit the old town, which is located in walking distance.

Stayed here for a week, had a great experience! The rooftop pool, bar, and lounge is nice and has a great view of the city & water. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was comfortable and clean. Location is great for walking around getsemani. Breakfast was consistently delicious, with lots of fresh fruit, juice, coffee, pastries, and fried bites.

Favorite hotel in Gartagena — just close enough to walk to all the attractive spots but far enough that it feels quieter and more relaxing. Staff were so kind! Hotel environment was very peaceful. Room was spacious and amazing for rest. Received a facial at the spa with Yésica and it was perfect. We will return for sure!

We stayed at the GHL Armeria Real for 4 nights and we had an amazing stay. All the staff were so genuine, kind, and helpful and gave us so many great recommendations of places we should go depending on what we were in the mood for. Ruis was our go to for everything and he did not disappoint! The breakfast was tasty and fresh. The pool/bar area was comfortable and clean and the drinks were great. Our room was big and we had a beautiful view from our balcony. The hotel is in close proximity to just about everything so we mainly walked which was nice. This hotel is definitely one I would return to. It did not disappoint!! Thank to all the staff for such an amazing a stay!!

Disappointing Experience with Unresolved Refund My stay at this hotel was marked by a significant inconvenience that remains unresolved. Despite having all the necessary documentation proving that the hotel owes us a refund for one night, they have failed to process the payment. This lack of professionalism and accountability on their part is deeply frustrating. Furthermore, we decided to change hotels primarily due to the unexpected discovery that this establishment is a stopover for tourist group tours. Imagine trying to relax by the pool or enjoy your breakfast on the terrace, only to be frequently interrupted by groups of 40 tourists passing by every 30 minutes. It's not the peaceful experience one hopes for when booking a hotel stay. For those seeking tranquility and assurance that any financial matters will be handled responsibly, I'd advise looking elsewhere.

This hotel is a beautiful historic building with a small but nice bar and pool area on the rooftop. We arrived early prior to check in and the staff were very kind and accommodating, allowing us to store our luggage and use the amenities before official check in. Our junior suite room had great air condition, a large and comfortable bed, and was very spacious — albeit a little dark even with all the lights on. The staff were also quite friendly throughout our stay. However, the check out process was a little off putting and is the main reason this review isn’t 5 stars. I left very early for a flight while the other guest in our room left the same day, but late morning. When I went to leave to get an Uber to the airport out front, I was not let out initially and was pressed about where the other guest was. I was eventually let out when I explained she would do the check out process when she left, as she was the last remaining guest. Further, when our last guest checked out, she was pressured to pay for their transportation option to the airport despite having already ordered an Uber (we were not made aware of airport transportation upon check in). After this, the staff became much less friendly and seemed to work unnecessarily slow given we had already paid for the room upfront. We were also unpleasantly surprised to find that we owed an additional 100,000 COP for two snacks and a few bottles of water from the mini bar. The only listed prices on the placard above the mini bar were for alcohol and as another review has pointed out, the menu QR code also does not have prices listed. When asked for an itemized receipt of the minibar charges, the hotel staff refused so we still do not know the cost of each item. I would probably stay here again, but the check out process soured the trip and folks looking to book here should know that the hotel and the services are not consistent with a 5-star hotel. Also, this hotel seems to host tourist groups through the common areas fairly frequently which is disruptive and a little weird. RESPONSE TO MANAGER: A little weird that you say that when there was certainly beer in our mini fridge…

Second time at this hotel, 3 years apart. Now You get the feeling everything is dirty and poorly maintained. The hotel was left without water service for several hours (we were told they would reinstate service at 12:00 and they ended up connecting it at 3:00 pm …. Breakfast was so so, our phone didn’t work, broken pool tiles, holes in some floors… Very poor facilities in general. Once upon a time the Spa was nice, now it’s a hotel room converted into an excuse for a Spa. Not coming back !

The hotel is in a great location, in the Getsemani area. The building of the hotel looks very nice, excellent breakfast with a large selection of food. The staff are pleasant. Large and spacious rooms, but at the same time terrible acoustics, all night long you could hear the neighbors "making love". In addition, there are very serious problems with the Internet, there are constantly disconnections, and sometimes there was no active Internet at all. On the roof there is a bar with a swimming pool and a solarium.

I stayed here for 5 nights and loved this hotel so much. It is absolutely gorgeous with stunning architecture. The included breakfast was nice to wake up to every day and it had a really nice variety of fresh food. The staff at the hotel take good care of you too, especially Humberto and Marlon, although everyone was really kind. I do want to give a shoutout to Marlon and Humberto because they are so friendly and patient and helped me out a lot! The ladies who clean the rooms do an amazing job as well, it was refreshing to come back to a spotless room after a hot day in Cartagena. The vibe of this hotel is very relaxing and feels very luxurious. I would love to come back and stay here again. Thanks for having me!!

Quaint hotel with large duplex rooms. Pool area could be improved with some more sun beds and a deep clean of the pool area.

Our stay hasn't even finished here, and I feel obligated to warn others before they book a stay at this hotel. Put simply, this is very, very far from the 5 star hotel it advertises to be. It is run down, old, and in some places simply dirty (e.g., the pool is filthy). None of the phones in our room worked, and the staff simply shrugged when this issue was raised. None of our simple requests (towels, bottles of watter, blankets) were completed on the first or second asks - we would need to continue asking for these things to receive them. There are a couple gems in the staff, but otherwise you cannot count on any of them for help. All told, it was a headache of a stay. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

The pool is not as good as photos make it seem and is a bit of a dump. There are much nicer hotel pools in Cartagena if that is what attracts you. We were disappointed by the pool.

We stopped here as part of our walking tour from Carnival. Had a coconut lemonade on the roof level. Great drink and view of the city. Staff were great and the middle courtyard is beautiful. Sorry we did not stay in a room or dine there so I can't give a review.

  • 1/5 Yves S. 1 year ago on Google
During my stay the hotel charged me an amount of 680 euro's, this was a mistake by them because I only ordered one drink or something like that. They admitted their mistake and gave me a refund of 630 euro's, so that's 50 euro's less than I should have received. This was due to the convertion rate and now they say that they're not going to pay back the remaining amount. A SHAME!!!

Beautiful hotel, helpful employees. beautiful rooftop pool overlooking the city . However breakfast was not the best , I loved the variety but the accompaniments just were dry or not fresh, eggs were good however. I book accommodations with food included and it’s a let down when the food doesn’t fill me up , and isn’t good. Forces me to go buy breakfast on the street. Also I’m not sure why but they didn’t offer bread after my first day there . Otherwise it was a good stay. I wish I could remember one of the employees name who stood by the entrance , he always greeted me and helped me get a taxi .

Good hotel, really good food in restaurant, but no beach nearby. Poor choice on breakfast. No waiter speaks English.
