Attracts a kind of Brits abroad vibe and very expensive for what it is - £14 a night not including breakfast in a 10 bed dorm …. Good location, staff were friendly but the hostel it’s self was not my vibe. Very much a party hostel that blasts music all day and night.

This hostel is very safe, there is someone at reception 24/7 and they need to buzz you in/out so no one can just walk in. We stayed in a dorm and also a private room. The dorms were good as long as you had earplugs. And the private rooms were GORGEOUS but you also need earplugs because they overlook the busy street that never sleeps and there's no escaping it. Breakfast was amazing. They changed one of the options everyday which was really fun to wake up to. Loved the clean pool and clean atmosphere. They do a really good job at keeping it tidy all day. The staff is SO HELPFUL and I recommend the 5 island VIP tour. You really get a better experience because of the "VIP" (bigger boat so you feel less waves, snacks on board, best spots on the islands for lunch)

Location is amazing and staff are so lovely! The privacy in the dorm setup is great but in the hot weather the top bunks get super hot even with the aircon- the bed probably could do with a small fan in each bunk or else a stronger air conditioning unit positioned better to hit the bunks better. The bathrooms and showers were clean and good that they were separate from the rooms. The communal areas were fun and music being played was nice but it played very loudly every morning from about 6/7am. The communal areas could also do with some bigger fans in the heat. The pub crawl was fun but needed some ice breaker games at the start to help people to get to know each other.

Unfortunately very disappointed. Beautiful location with a great pool and the rooms are great for some privacy with curtains and private lights, but the bar/reception staff was some of the worst after almost two months of travel. More than a few times had to walk around to search for someone at the bar or to wait to open door at reception, and every request felt like trying to interrupt a private party. The cleaning staff was very friendly and helpful so that’s an extra star.

Stayed here for a month as I was working remote and couldn’t be happier with my choice of hostel!! The people is what made my experience the best. Everyone that worked there was great but specifically Gabriel and Daymer in reception made my stay amazing!! They were so welcoming and just made me look forward to coming back to the hostel after a day of walking around. They were helpful in anything that I needed and if you needed a night in or rest from the partying they made staying in the reception fun. Overall the hostel always had activities going on and it’s easy to meet people. I loved doing my work on the rooftop and it was a very relaxed vibe. 11/10 recommend!!

Tourist factory. Money machine. Architecture and location are nice but the rest is not. Beds in dorms feel like coffins, ants in beds, many doors of shower and WC don't close, they would make you pay if you want a towel. Poor quality/price ratio, no soul in the place. I don't recommend

It’s a nice hostel and well located in a popular street in the historical center. I was in a 12-beds dorms, the rooms are not that spacious but the bed was really comfortable. They turn the AC off during the day, so it gets quite hot if you stay in the room before 7-8pm. Also, the bathrooms and showers are shared with the whole hostel, with no distinction between men and women, so it’s ok for a few days but not for a longer stay. The breakfast is ok, with 2 options per day.

An amazing stay! As a solo traveller, it was great to be at a social hostel with activities organised daily, including yoga, pub crawls, karaoke and salsa dance classes to name a few! The facilities were super clean and the six bedroom dorm felt extremely spacious. Wifi was excellent. A great experience and would highly recommend.

Location is the only good thing. Old facilities, bad maintenance, no hot water, nothing to hang your clothes or put your stuff in the bathroom, breakfast takes forever, no real social activities, not very clean, noisy. There are better hostels around.

Great social hostel, activities everyday where you get a chance to meet people. The staff are really helpful, welcoming & lovely. Facilities are great too- kitchen, seating area, terrace and a pool! Even though we were in a 14 bed dorm I still felt like I had a lot of privacy since we had our own privacy curtains. Really enjoyed my stay here and would recommend as it is in a great location!

It’s very comfortable and I liked it a lot. However there are a few things that were weird. 1. the staff doesn’t really care to show you the hostel at all. I had to ask other guests where the bathrooms are, I didn’t know they offer food and also they don’t provide water…. The hostel gave me a towel and then when checking out they told me I have to pay for it… I asked them why they didn’t tell me this because I have my own towel, I didn’t need theirs and the answer was that they forgot. 2. the toilets and showers have the weirdest doors. You cannot see from the outside to the inside but the other way around. You can also see when sitting on the toilet the legs + feet of the person on the toilet across… made me feel very uncomfortable using the bathrooms…. Proper doors are best. The room was super nice though! I slept very well and it was super cozy.

Everything seemed fine at first, even though we already had some administrative problems when we arrived. But after we returned from the Rosario islands I asked to pay in full and together (for a friend as well). After asking how the price was calculated after paying, because we were assured that the price would be the same as before going to the islands and after asking to pay together, suddenly we only payed for one night together and not the remaining nights for my friend. Which meant that the price of the same room had almost doubled without notifying us properly about this change. After trying to explain this to the staff, which were very unhelpful, we received a small compensation which did not come close to what we got scammed out off. Not recommended.

Really nice and beautiful hostel + great breakfast. During the day there is a chill atmosphere, but the music in the evening is very loud and continues until midnight..quite annoying tbh. Bath, toilet, dorm and pool all good

The atmosphere is really nice. Great staff. Nice people. Great location. But the rooms are really small. No space for luggage. Everybody's backpack is in the way. Cause of all the shoes of everyone the rooms stinks.

Great bang for your buck. Great location & vibe. The pool is a bonus, cheap drinks. No A/C until 6:00PM / 18:00 that’s a hot bummer 🥵

Rude staff. I felt discriminated by one of the receptionist who questioned the authenticity of my Colombian ID. I was with a group of Venezuelan citizens, so that raised the concern. The receptionist was rude all the time. We stayed for 3 days and all the time we asked anything he used a crude language and a harsh tone.

Bedlinnens weren't super clean. Yet the hostel has a good breakfast and great atmosphere.

Don't stay here. The only pro is the location. Summary: Loud, lacking basic necessities, and apathetic staff. If you value your sleep, stay somewhere else. __________________ This place is double the price of other hostels in Colombia and it's one of the worst I've stayed at. There's no hot water, the WiFi doesn't reach the rooms, and it's so loud it's impossible to sleep. The communal areas are supposed to close at 11, but people still stay out there playing music. I tried to cancel my last night here, which they said they could do, but without a refund! When I mentioned the noise, staff flat out refused to admit it was from the hostel even though I saw people in the communal areas playing music close to midnight. The rooms barely have any storage space. Breakfast is passable, I guess. We had pancakes but they were still raw, but the kitchen staff were very nice. If you want an authentic experience, don't come here. It's backpacker central.

A small paradise in Cartagena! Attractive Riad design with a lovely flow of air throughout the hostel. The establishment is spacious with generously sized beds, equipped with air conditioning. Somewhat loud with music (not in rooms) but that seems to be in accordance with the lively and joyful spirit of Cartagena. Friendly staff and good sized common areas.

Potential is there. Lacking follow through. Maybe after income is back up, things will improve.

Where to start. Needed a place to stay after my friend left early. We were at Republic Hostel the night before. Their bar was having karaoke night and it was a vibe! Great bar staff and they had everyone enjoying themselves. I got a room here and was hanging out with their amazing staff. As well as other travelers. Will, Sebastian, Jay, Nana, Francisca and Carolina are amazing volunteers. Other hostels come to their events because it’s such a great time. There’s a free breakfast and their spaces make it so you can easily meet people. It felt like home, I didn’t want to leave. Almost cancelled my flight and asked if I could volunteer. Will be comping back in the future ❤️

I stayed here for 3 nights, although there was air conditioning in the dorm room, it didn’t cool the room and it was hard to sleep in the heat at night. The photos also make this place look better than it is. They don’t allow you to bring your own alcohol in so you go to their over priced bar. The breakfast is very basic and not filling.

The staff was really nice and professional. They helped alot. Also, thanks to a guest named "Anika" (If I remember correctly) who helped me for an urgent matter. Thank you so much !!! You saved my life.

The staff were nice and the pool was good. The rooms are really small and the storage under the bed doesn’t fit most luggage, so there was luggage all over the room. The beds offer a good amount of privacy. The bathrooms, showers, and sinks are shared with the whole hostel. They gave me two pillows, so that was s plus. There is A/C and a fan in the dorm, but because the beds are like a little pod, there isn’t much air flow. It was very hard to sleep. There isn’t anywhere at the hostel during the day to go to that had air conditioning as the rooms have it off during the day. I don’t think I would stay here again because I was just too hot the whole time.

We had an amazing stay at the Republica. In a great location close to delicious restuarants and lovely shops. The atmosphere is electric and fun even off season. Lots of activities in the evening , I enjoyed a pub crawl one night which was one of the best nights out. Carlos one of the organizers is so fun and made the night one to remember! The room is a little small but feels cosy and you get a nice private bed with your own fan. Would definitely stay there again. Staff were so friendly and made the experience 10/10💟
