Blue Apple Beach is our favorite place to visit when we are in Cartagena and need a fun, relaxing getaway. From the moment we step on their boat for the fast trip to the island, we know we’re in good hands. Well trained personnel, efficient planning and warm, friendly service - all details covered - we can kick back and enjoy ourselves. The resort is designed for comfort and fun. Tropical flowers and trees provide shade and a pleasant walk to and from rooms, pool, beach. The little cabanas along the beach are ideal for sunset drinks in cozy privacy. Our last visit as a family included 6 adults and 2 boys - 8 & 3 years old. The staff was friendly, professional, helpful and attentive to our many special requests. The boys specially enjoyed the small personal pools outside our cabanas. Drinks, food, music and tropical island vibe make you feel like you’re celebrating with your coolest friends. One of the many things I admire about this resort is their commitment to providing employment opportunities for island natives. Also, Green Apple, their environmentally responsible recycling and sustainability program. Life is short, go see how much fun it can be!

My boyfriend was KIDNAPPED The hotel itself and the grounds are beautiful. We were excited to have Happy Hour drinks in our little beach bed. When two women approached us for a massage after giving one to the couple on the bed next to us, we initially said no, but they insisted we get a little shoulder rub as a sample. We loved it, so we decided to go for the full 30-minute experience (which, according to the welcome information from the hotel, would cost 50,000 COP per person). This is where we should have confirmed the price, but since we were being massaged on hotel beds, we assumed these were the hotel’s massage providers. Once our massages finish up, it’s 8-ish pm. Three men have now joined the two massage therapists, Andrea and Paola, and we are shocked when they tell us we owe them 600,000 COP for the 30-minute couples massage. We don’t have this much cash on us, but offer to get it from the hotel - but at this point they won’t let us leave. The men tell us the only option is for them to take my boyfriend on a “5-minute drive” into town, in the dark on their motorbike, to take out more cash for them. We panicked but my boyfriend, who speaks Spanish fluently, eventually agreed because he just wanted an end to this scary and escalating situation. So they took him off in the dark and I went to the bathroom to throw up out of nervousness. His motorbike ride was scary and Delson, the “massage pimp”, even tried to get him to take out more cash than the 600k COP from the “bank” (a woman seated in the back of a convenience store, with more “bouncers” all around). My boyfriend lied and said he had reached his withdrawal maximum with his bank and luckily no other drama went down. He got back safely half an hour later, thankfully, and we realized we had inadvertently put ourselves in a potentially dangerous situation. I don’t know if Blue Apple is at all familiar or associated with the massage folks using their beach beds, be BE AWARE. This ruined our night in paradise and gave us a shake.

Ride over from Catagena docks was fun, water warm (January), lounge chairs + cabanas were comfy. Staff was attentive, hawkers chilled and not pushy. Ordered lunch was amazing, DJ and Latin dancing entertainment was great. Bit of a sad beach compared to Australia though.

Beautiful and relaxing beach club. Not overcrowded and the staff were awesome. Many thanks to Jesse, Fabian and Damon for taking care of us. Our night in one of their rooms was awesome as we had our own small pool and the beds were so comfortable we hated leaving them. Only advice is I would track what you order as they billed us for double shots but neither of us ordered doubles. Other than that the place is a great way to get out of Cartagena for the day.

We stayed at Blue Apple for three nights in March of 2022. This was our second time here, and we are already talking about a third and more. It’s definitely a little paradise here on this cruel earth. Of course, we were worried that coming back, it would not be as fun as the first time, but that was not the case. We were greeted with the same warm smiles and welcoming spirit that made us fall in love with Blue Apple. There are only 10 rooms at Blue Apple, which make the late afternoons and evenings very peaceful and enjoyable. There are four Cabanas other than the main house, all of which offer superior comfort during our stay.During the day, it is loud poolside with the music. They do have beachside cabanas away from the pool area that are much more peaceful. We had a number of meals at Blue Apple. We were impressed with the food two years ago, but were pleasantly shocked that it was significantly better. The seafood paella is to die for. You will find something on the menu for every taste. The menu is slightly different everyday, and they take sustainability very seriously. What draws me to this place is their commitment to a higher standard of hospitality. By that, I mean they are invested in every level of the staff and the immediate community. The Blue Apple experience does not come at the expense of the dignity of the people that live and work there. You can actually feel GOOD about vacationing here. Go experience this place. Stay at least two nights. Buy lots of booze. Check out the sustainability and recycling efforts of Green Apple. Just do it.

We purchased a day pass with our own bungalow. The location was amazing, had full access to the beach and the pool/bar area. The food was perfectly done, and the drinks were heavenly. The venders were respectful and the service was impeccable!! Highly recommend. It is on our list as a place to revisit!

There are plenty of beaches and resorts you can go to around the world, but Blue Apple Beach gives you such a different and amazing experience it makes you feel at home. The music, the liveliness, the food, the resort crew and resort ambiance all make Blue Apple Beach a MUST visit when in Cartagena. We love the fact that the resort focuses on sustainability and makes efforts to reduce waste. We are so happy with our experience we cannot stop talking about it and are making plans to return ASAP. Thank you so much for welcoming us to your little slice of paradise!

Great stay at Blue Apple beach! The rooms are beautiful, spacious, very clean and well decorated. The food was good and we appreciated the vegetarian options. The hotel staff were super nice and accommodated all our needs. The highlight of our stay was the cute little cabanas by the beach! We would have just preferred this area to be without speakers for a more chilled vibe during the day parties.

I’ve been coming to Colombia for a year and a half now. I’ve gone to beaches clubs that were recommended but honestly I always revert back to Blue Apple. It’s my favorite. The environment. The staff. The way they treat me like family is priceless. Definitely recommend checking it out. I will say the beach is just average. But the paradise the is Blue Apple is worth it.

The best beach club in Cartagena. And really one of the best places of any kind. Arrival is great — you get there and are shown to the chair or area you’ve booked in advance. The drinks and food are excellent. Once lunch is done, the mood in the pool picks up and by the end of the day you know everyone around you. Staff are all excellent.

We came for Cartagena to spend a day a relaxing day at Blue Apple, and were not impressed. The installations are old and not well maintained. Although the beach is in front, the service/seating areas are closer to the pool. You have to pay a day access, and consume a certain amount of money to be able to spend the day- but I would not recommend it. It's not worth it as the installations lack design and ambiance. The service however was good and all the servers were very nice and welcoming.

We didn’t stay at the resort, but instead took a small boat from Cartagena (right by the hospital) to this beach. The resort staff were wonderful and accommodating, and we rented chairs and an umbrella. The staff would deliver food and drinks, and you could pay by credit card. The beach was great, with clear and perfect temperature water. Overall a great place to spend a day.

Blue Apple Beach House was the perfect long-weekend get away. All of the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The property was well- maintained with lots of beautiful plants and lots of places to sit/lay down and relax. The hotel also has a big focus on sustainability and is doing great work! We chose full-board since there weren’t a lot of other restaurants close on the island. We are so glad we did! The menu changed a little bit each day and everything was fresh and tasty. The boat transfers from Cartagena were very easy. They arrived on time (give or take a few minutes) and took us right where we needed to go. Not too crowded.

We spent a magical two days here and decided that this was one of the best resort experiences we have ever had. The staff are friendly, engaging, and attentive (including the vivacious manager, Maggie). The food is imaginative, super-fresh and reflects local ingredients. The resort is a tropical oasis tucked behind a verdant mass of trees and shrubbery. And if this was not enough, the ethos is to support the local people with jobs and opportunities particularly groups that have been marginalized in the past. A+++. We can't wait to return.

After a week 'roughing it' and backpacking across Colombia, I treated myself to two nights at Blue Apple and it was an absolute dream!!! Blue Apple's vibe is modern, sleek, sophisticated, and artsy (yet unpretentious). The staff are amazing and attentive. The rooms are gorgeous and well curated, with every amenity you could possibly need (powerful a/c, automated shades, espresso machine, yoga mats). I loved waking up to my name reserved on a poolside lounge chair, ready to indulge in delicious cocktails and food. I enjoyed the music and party vibes during the day, and relished the low-key evenings. The hotel's focus on sustainable products, renewable energy, and locally-grown food (there's a farm on the property!) was an added bonus. OH, and the town of Bocachica!! I did a 1-hour tour (via motorbike) with one of the local guides to see the nearby town (where many of the staff are from) and the old San Fernando fort, it was an eye-opening experience! I recommend the motorbike tour if you want to get outside of your comfort zone and go to a place that most tourists don't ever visit.

Three-night escape with friends – fun had by all! Anything they do not have, they absolutely make up for in customer service. Frankly, they could teach a thing or two to most of the world on customer service. Pleasantly surprised by the food. Special kudos go out to Gina and Luz – Gina saved me when I had the wrong check-out date and Luz was always attentive and fun! It’ll definitely be on a return list the next time in Colombia.

The ambience, the balanced attentiveness from the super friendly staff and the quality of the food and drinks were all outstanding. A really impressive range of choices at the bar or when dining. An impressive attention to detail in all areas. The rooms were excellently put together. Cool showers and chill out areas. Simply put we had one of the best holidays ever and feel utterly spoiled. Thank you!

Terrific!!!! Absolutely spotless and non intrusive service from the moment of arrival until leaving. Food was delicious and plenty and the resort is beautiful. I saw the manager working hard at her computer so did t want to interrupt her. But wanted to say: thank you. Absolutely great vibes with wonderfully calming music. Staff super professional and relaxed. An absolute pleasure.

I bought the day pass to use the pool, restaurant and beach chairs. Overall I think it's quite expensive and the experience is not that great. Pros: somewhat exclusive, you will not be directly bothered by local sellers; beach view is nice; food is good Cons: you have to go through a rough 5-minute motorbike ride to reach the place; you cannot swim in the beach; the cabanas are right in front of the garden chairs so people are staring at you and it's far to get the waiter's attention; I had the worst massage here (she just rubbed oil all over me without working on any knots)

Blue apple beach is only about a 20 minute boat ride from the walled city. Total cost for the boat was about 20 USD. It was definitely worth it. The food and drinks were AMAZING. The chef on site has done a really great job. And from my experience, the food and drinks are cheaper than what you pay for on Rosario island. Blue apple beach is more laid back than a lot of the other beach clubs. Was a great spot to relax in the ocean/pool and read a book in the lounge chairs. The staff were amazing as well!

Yes, is bad service.... what else can you expect in cartagena 30 minutes to serve you a coffee and plate of fruit. With an empty place. Menu has a seafood paella 🥘, waitresses tell you is good for two people, when you get the bill you have two charges because price is per person. So paella for cop$ 48000 is now 96000.

Where to start. My wife and I came here for 4 days to celebrate our 15 year anniversary. We have only been to a couple, more traditional resorts, but I would have a hard time going anywhere else now. From start to finish the experience was amazing. From the emails leading up to our trip, including Gina answering numerous questions, and reserving the transfer boat, everything was easy. And not to mention the cost was very reasonable, with breakfast included(not just your standard continental meal), as well as the boat transfer. They also coordinated our shuttle from(and back to) the airport, making that a stress free experience. And then everything on-site was perfect. Our little cabana(Mamon) was perfect including a really cool outdoor bathroom/shower area. We were literally steps away from everything, but it never felt like we didn’t have enough privacy. And Michelle was AWESOME. She made the whole week even more stress free, addressing our requests immediately, and helped us plan multiple activities while we were on the island. I can’t recommend Blue Apple enough. It felt like we were the only people there and received service as such. Run, don’t walk to Blue Apple. P.S. Getting to see and interact with Manuel every day, was a delight. I felt like we made a lifelong friend.

Great day at the beach club. Soft and low key ambiance on a Monday with a Cabana on the beach. Great service and affordable prices. Nice and clean pool. And bathrooms.

Other than the overt discrimination, the food was delicious and the surroundings were beautiful. If you are a person of colour be prepared for the staff to defer to white customers at your expense. If you are okay with that then you’ll have a great time. I was really looking forward to this day trip because of environmental focus of the company and because it is woman owned and run but the internalized racism of the staff was sad to see and to endure.

Overall a good time. Do not book the private cabanas. They are at the front of the property, facing the ocean. This is where motorcycles come and go for staff, the vendors sit and chat the entire time so loudly, you get approached every 10 minutes to buy a stupid bracelet no one literally asked for. The staff are a part of the problem, providing water and place for the vendors to be near the doors and entrances from the day club to the ocean. One of the vendors got aggressive and racist towards us, for not being black. (White/asian couple). All around bad experience, thankfully we were able to be moved up, the staff was apologetic. Even though you prepay for the transport and the Cabana/bed, they still apply a tip to the total cost of your food/bed/day pass, then deduct the prepayment, so they wanted a full tip on 700,000COP vs want we spent at 360,000 - so beware.

Loved the place. The food was really good. I cannot imagine another restaurant in the island with the quality of the food served there. Also their philosophy of sustainability and to share the progress with the locals is something special and maybe original in that part of the world, which makes it worth supporting. We went there for the day but we have to come back and stay a couple of days.

We found the day pass a good value and enjoyed the small beach and pool. The drinks were reasonably priced and the beach loungers were very comfortable. The music got progressively louder which made it less relaxing and the boat ride was very choppy in parts - would probably avoid if you have back issues given the impact.

Amazing weekend; Luz and the team took great care of us; Rooms were uniquely perfect island luxury. Excellent food and drinks. Great communication. I will definitely return.

We arrived right as the sun set and were welcome with a refreshing drink and warm staff. There is so much thought that goes into every aspect of the hotel from the food, to the gym, to the decor, and especially their sustainability practices. I felt like my money was going towards more than a hotel, but was going towards a community of people that loved their job and wanted to rethink the hospitality industry. My sister and I will return!

Great place to spend a day. Purchase a ticket which includes a speed boat ride to and from the beach. Access to a resort style beach lodge which has a pool, restaurant, bathroom, beach access, lounge chairs, and fitness/ volleyball court. For a little more you can reserve a semi private cabana, highly recommended. Good drinks and menu items are tasty. Local merchants are nice but persistent. They will try to sell you massages, bracelets, and other goods. Also, there are dogs on the island. Mostly harmless but try to avoid them unless you know they have been vaccinated.

Perfect setting for a private gathering or just to get away and relax. I was just there for a wedding party and it was amazing. The food, service, and overall experience in the pool area was spectacular. Beach was nice as well. The only challenge is disembarking from your boat taxi onto the dock.

We had a nice cabana by the beach which felt private. Music was upbeat, service was great, and food was delicious! It's such a quick trip from cartagena, I highly recommend a visit! Day trip was just the perfect amount of time to get away from the hustle and bustle of cartagena

Really nice resort but a bit pricey compared to other options in the area. The beach is not somewhere to hang out. It's full of seaweed and as soon as you walk onto it someone is bothering you to buy a bracelet or massage. You'll basically want to stay within the resort as the swimming pool is very nice and nobody will hassle you. The resort itself is a very nice place. If you got the cash it's a great day trip from Cartagena to get some clean air and chill out.

My wife and I had a blast from the start. The hospitality is amazing, they really make you feel at home. The staff always had a smile while serving you. There was a DJ playing amazing music throughout our stay. We went horse back riding and it was magical. The food was also great, we strongly recommend the paella!! We don’t want to leave. This place is definitely on our come back list for sure!!!

This was a fantastic day trip. The price includes a day before, two course meal, two drinks, a towel and the boat ride to and from the island. The food is exceptional and the drinks were yummy. The pool was great and the area is really funky. They had good tunes playing all day.

  • 5/5 Maria M. 1 year ago on Google
I went for the day. The food was amazing, and the cocktails strong 👌i recommend the cauliflower as a starter, it was delicious. At the entrance, the gentleman sells very good jewelry for a fair price. The beds by the beach are comfortable, but there are people who walk by trying to sell you stuff. It's a beautiful place to relax in, with friendly staff.

Beautiful and peaceful. Short distance from the city but feels far away. Love how eco friendly and clean it is. Staff was so amazing and friendly. Lovely trees and shade coverage everywhere. Clean and massive pool. Nice little beach area too if you want to swim.
