The History & Street Food tour with Durán Angel Eduardo was, hands-down, the best tour we’ve had in Colombia so far. It was a private tour that we will cherish in our memories for years to a come. Angel is very passionate about the city and its culture; a passion that has not dulled at all despite 3+ decades of experience guiding newcomers and re-visitors alike. His passion is not only noticed by us, but also the locals who openly greet him throughout the tour. His enthusiasm shines through with every topic that he talks about, from Cartagena’s beginnings to current day, which made learning about Cartagena’s history a lot of fun, rather than a dull lecture. Angel is the epitome of Cartagena’s warmth and hospitality—he is extremely friendly and kept us engaged, laughing, and safe throughout the entirety of the tour. Angel even made sure that we had a chance to try a street food that was not originally a part of the tour, all because we had asked about it. We enjoyed this tour with Angel so much that, when we return to Cartagena in the future, we would make it a mission to re-experience this or another tour with Angel again. Duran Duran tours helped me coordinate several events for a week long work conference in Cartagena a few years ago. They helped me tremendously because I was planning this from Dallas, Texas and I had to put a lot of trust in them. My trust was not misplaced, they were incredible!! They planned an entire day's tour for 80 people (including transportation) plus they helped me with a rental of a catamaran with direct drop off at a restaurant for dinner. That night was amazing and everything went very smoothly. They made me look really good in front of our customers and my managers! At the end of the week Mr. Duran thanked me and said he was grateful because this was the first large tour group he'd managed since his business was fairly new. This was perhaps one of the best tours we've ever participated in, anywhere in the world! We were picked up at our apartment by one of our hosts, Angel, and then driven out to the Bazurto Market to buy the ingredients for our lunch. This would have been worth the cost of the entire tour alone - the market covers a vast area, teeming with locals buying and selling goods of all kinds. Stepping into its maze-like interior is a little intimidating (especially if you're not fluent in Spanish!), but no worries - Angel guided us through the various shops and stalls, stopping to get us some tasty samples, shopping for produce and fresh fish, greeting various friends and acquaintances, and all the while providing us with all sorts of information (about the market, Cartagena, Colombia and a bit of his personal biography. Leaving the market, we then drove to his family's home in the Andalucia neighborhood. We were greeted there by his lovely wife, Maria, and her assistant, and then began preparing our meal. Our hosts made sure to keep the conversation flowing when they weren't instructing us, and, over the course of three hours, we all got to know a bit about each other (and, of course, Colombian cuisine!). With such pleasant company and plenty to do, time flew by and, seemingly before I knew it, it was time to eat! We were joined for lunch by Angel and Maria's son (I am SO sorry, but I can't recall the young man's name just now), a college student and very friendly young man. We all ate our delicious home-cooked meal together, and continued our great conversation throughout. When we were finished, we said our goodbyes (but not before they gave us a special parting gift!) and Angel and his assistant drove us back to our apartment in the Centro district. We spent about 9 days in Colombia, and I would say that this was the most enjoyable, most educational and most rewarding experience we had during our time there. I cannot recommend this tour (or any tour with Duran Duran) highly enough!

Truly a unique and unforgettable experience! Angel and Maria guide you through an experience that you would never be able to access on your own as a tourist. Our Bazurto market tour & cooking class was our highlight of our time in Cartagena!

My wife and I did a tour with Duran to San Basilio de Palenque. We didn't even inquire about the tour until the day before, but he was so responsive and made sure we got everything set-up for the next morning. He even stopped by our hotel the day before the tour to make sure we had everything and we were good to go. He picked us up from our hotel the next morning and we met two others who were traveling, and we were off. He took care of everything, his English was great, and the tour itself was one of the best village tours we've ever done! I won't go into too much detail, but if you are considering doing a tour in Colombia, I would definitely book with DuranDuran Tours! Their online booking system is great also!

My friends and I did the cooking class and market tour with Duran Duran and we all agree that it was the highlight of the trip! It was great to experience the hustle and bustle of the Bazurto market with a guide, we would never have been able to see it without Maria and her dad. The cooking class itself was also amazing. They welcomed us into their home and we got to cook delicious food! Very highly recommend to anyone who is visiting Cartagena!

The best experience on our trip to Cartagena was our day with Senor Duran and his wife, Maria. The trip through the city to the market to select our ingredients and meet wonderful vendors was authentic. We saw parts of the City that were full of life and beauty. Senor Duran and Maria opened their home to us and shared a fabulous cooking tradition. We met their family and made wonderful food. We felt the warmth of being with family. Did a 4-hour Gabriel Garcia Marquez tour with Angel Duran. It was the most amazingly informative experience. Angel is a fun person who will ensure to keep you entertained and interested and happy. Despite the heat, we really enjoyed it.

We had the most amazing trip to the market and cooking class! Angel and Maria are incredibly knowledgeable and kind - they welcomed us into their home. It was the highlight of my trip to Cartagena.

We took the market and culinary tour, and it was fantastic. Tasting a wide variety of local fruits at the market and being invited into Angel and Maria's lovely home to for a cooking lesson and meal was a delightful, authentic experience. They were well prepared, accommodation and comfortable hosts.

We booked a private tour with Duran Duran for a group of eight. Booked the tour in January of 2018 and pulled into port early April. Everything was excellent, from the time we were greeted coming off our cruise ship until we were dropped off at the conclusion of tour. Knowledgeable guide, interesting stops, an air conditioned van. Cost was better than what the cruise line offered and from what I understand it was far superior. I highly recommend Duran Duran.
