What a beautiful spot to spend the day. You can tour the grounds of the old forts Stop at the many beaches along the area. And if you’re lucky go up into the lighthouse. The lighthouse was closed today sadly although it said it was open till four, but that’s OK. It was definitely worth spending time there and the lighthouse itself is gorgeous. It was fun seeing this old army base, kind of sad though it’s not being used to capacity. There is a Coast Guard station there as well. Will definitely bring a bike next time- great trails

Lovely park to walk or bike around. Good for photography. If you tell the gate you’re coming here and not going to the beach they won’t charge you.

Many trails both for walking, hiking or biking! There is so much to look at here. Served as WWII fort providing protection of NEW YORK harbor. Also the location of training for soldiers before they were shipped to Europe. You can see the officers beautiful family homes with awesome ocean view! Tip: before your visit watch YouTube video historical documentaries by user “Jersey Bayshore Country TV” there are six parts/videos. Fantastic historical documentaries about Sandy Hook, NJ.

Huge former military base converted into park/wetlands area. A lighthouse on sight as well. Towards the north end of the park there are many trails perfect for biking / rollerblading. A lot of wildlife on premises- thank you for not littering the beach with White Claw cans. On a clear day from the observation tower, you can see New York across the Raritan Bay

Really cool former active military base. Great long path for biking, running etc and many abandoned relic buildings throughout. This place is a must see for history lovers especially. An observation deck at the end provides great views.

Fort Hancock is an old coastal military base, now there are many buildings left from the base, the base is closed, but it is very interesting to walk and look at it, the place has its own atmosphere. Great, historical area of Sandy Hook with lovely views of the NY skyline. Entry on a Sandy Hook costs $20 for 1 car.

Loved all the old bunkers and buildings here you can definitely feel the history. Light house is set in the center. Be sure to check out the Mortor Battery area which holds tunnels/ artillery storage/ data towers used in WWII.

4.2021. Did not get to see the Fort on this particular trip as I was too caught up filming an Osprey flying around with a fish. On the right chimney on officers row, there is a huge nest. Be on the lookout if you are there anytime soon. You can spend all take here if you are into photography or biking. I had my bike but I walked around to photograph. There is a little cafe close to the Fort/lighthouse parking lot just in case you need a snack. I had brought my own food cause I was out biking all day. Next time I will check out the cafe and fort and bike trails all around Sandy Hook.

Great walk to the beach. Unfortunately the Lighthouse was closed today (06/13/2021). Need to come another time. Highly recommended for biking and sightseeing

A very old historical fort that was important for protecting the harbor around New York City. Three buildings are incredible but many are falling down through lack of maintenance. It is worth the time to visit and see the old gun and mortar emplacements, the buildings (especially the restored historical building), and to walk along the shore. There is a great trail for biking or just a long walk.

Park is free entry year round. Beaches have a parking fee between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Fort Hancock has nature trails, a multi use path for walking, running or bike riding. Fishing is permitted at certain beaches year round!

👍👍 Deep Cut Gardens is part of the Monmouth County Park System. It has 54 acres of gardens and greenhouses. It was very relaxing to walk around the beautiful gardens.
