What a beautiful resort! The resort offers a magnificent golf course. The spa and pool areas are delightful. The Inn is a has a very quaint environment. There are several cottages that range from one bedroom up to seven bedrooms (we stayed on a one bedroom cottage, very spacious). There are 3 dining facilities on site. Out favorite was the Rice House. We didn’t get to experience all the resort had to offer. You won’t be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

My wife surprised me with a 40th birthday getaway here. We had an amazing time the atmosphere here was amazing. It's full of well-manicured landscapes, warm and inviting rooms, lots of history, many relaxing spots, and more. We did archery which was fun and a couple's massage. We explored the ruins and played in the gardens. We enjoyed the hammocks where we just enjoyed quiet time together. The food was amazing and we ate like royalty every day. There is so much more to say but I feel I've gone to long. If you can you should go.

Best crab cake I’ve ever had at on site restaurant. Lovely accommodation. Serene surroundings even in stifling heat. They do offer many sports like horseback riding and archery. And of course special events like weddings! Oh how romantic. Godfrey built this home for his wife Julia. He called it Woodlands and the estate was built in an Italian/Mediterranean style. A Cherokee Indian told Godfrey anything built on that land would be cursed. At first his son died. Then Julia was taken with tuberculosis. The garden was designed with hundreds of varieties of roses. 🌹 Barnsley kept building there and even more tragedy 🎭 bespoke his heirs.

recently had the pleasure of staying at Barnsley Resort in GA, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience! From start to finish, the staff went above and beyond to ensure that my stay was comfortable and enjoyable. The resort itself is breathtakingly beautiful, with well-manicured grounds, charming cottages, and a peaceful atmosphere that made me feel like I was truly getting away from it all. I especially enjoyed exploring the nature trails and taking in the stunning views of the surrounding countryside. But what really set Barnsley Resort apart was the level of service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, professional, and eager to help in any way they could. Whether I needed recommendations for local restaurants or extra towels for my room, they were always ready to assist with a smile. And the amenities! The spa was top-notch, with a wide range of treatments that left me feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. The on-site restaurants were delicious, with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients that showcased the best of Southern cuisine. All in all, I can't recommend Barnsley Resort highly enough. If you're looking for a peaceful, luxurious getaway in the heart of Georgia, this is the place to be. Thank you to the entire staff for making my stay so memorable!

A beautiful and relaxing location to get away when you live nearby. Barnsley resort is ideal for your conferences, your getaways, your days in the golf course, fun, outdoor activities, and really restaurants and resort catering food! The staff was amazing and lots of fun!! The only thing is that they close down early and if you’re really hungry late at night no Uber available. But on a final thought, hands down to the whole staff from the activities, front desk, cleaning personnel, waitresses servers, catering group and the guys showing you around or give me directions.

Beautiful resort with a small amount of history. Visited for an afternoon, so no knowledge of rooms in the inn or cottages. Feels like a quaint village with walking streets and cottages next to each other. Activities are available but at an additional price. What gave us pause was the cost of everything. A simple room was 500 a night and up. We could not get a price of cottages no matter who we asked. "Just call reservations". We did find a guest who informed us that cottages do not have kitchens, just coffee maker and refrigerator. For the money, I would prefer the beach!

I’ve been visiting Barnsley continuously for over 10 years and while I love the natural beauty of this resort, it’s management, generally, has been in a steep decline. Reception is highly transactional and they want you processed and away from the front desk as quickly as possible. If you haven’t booked one of the activities weeks in advance, like archery, horseback riding, axe throwing, spa, etc.. forget about participating during your stay, they will be booked. The spa desperately needs to be deeply cleaned. The shooting range has dilapidated stands, apathetic staff, and a number of the throwers didn’t work. If you need help while out on the course, no one will answer the call to the number they post at the stands. But the guide will run out to shoot by himself, a number of times. They do rent Barrett’s Silver Pigeons which are beautiful guns, but you will pay ~$500 for a well below average experience. For the cost of staying at Barnsley, which has become incredibly expensive for rural Georgia, you should expect a better experience. I hope that the new resort company that just bought Barnsley will recommit to providing their guests a better experience (although they just banned alcoholic beverage service before 11 on Sundays..)They own a one-of-a-kind resort and should get back to Barnsley’s history of hiring and training staff the have a deep commitment to excellence in hospitality.

A very nice get away for a couple of days. The cabins are nice, but gaps under the doors allows noises from other rooms to escape. You can hear your neighbors’s wake up alarm!

The rooms were very well appointed, and comfortable. The staff very friendly and helpful. The setting was stunning, was a pleasure just to sit on my porch and enjoy the view. The amenities were many: golfing, clay shooting, dining, fire pits throughout the resort for gathering with friends after dark.

It’s a beautiful piece of property and a golfers paradise. But there is a big wart. The food is expensive which I expect, but it it was just so bad. The Rice room in particular is just flat out awful. It is not a family friendly place (no kids options) and sports a very limited menu. They did attempt a grill cheese sandwich for a child, but in a disgusting twist on the basic sandwich, they added mayonnaise! Who does that ???? Every dish had an odd southern take like Ettoufe with grits ( which was the worst dish i had on property) I took a few bites and asked that it be taken away. Nobody asked why (gelatinous shrimp). or offered another option. It is as if they know it’s bad and do not care. Hardly the service one might expect from a place charging $50 an entre’. Stick to the beer garden and the grill next to the golf course. They aren’t good either but at least offer more options. Or better yet, bring your own food. It’s a shame bc if this place would just figure out the food, it would be a great place to spend a weekend. We won’t be returning anytime soon, and when we do, we will be bringing a portable grill.

Our Thanksgiving buffet service was excellent. While the food was plentiful and filling we were disappointed in two of our favorite traditional Thanksgiving treats: Cranberry sauce was not offered instead a warm watery cranberry juice was available and your chef's butternut squash soup was also very watery and bland. You do have a great facility there.

Company Christmas party was held on the "Town Hall" building. Beautifully decorated. Easily held a table for 24. Food, bar & servers were great. Absolutely would host an event here again.

Our family of 16 gathered at Barnsley Resort for Thanksgiving Lunch. We had the most wonderful experience! The food was delicious! They sat all of us at one long table, and the same were above and beyond. Every need was attended to with the highest level of excellence. Our family was so blessed!
