It's a fantastic and very moving battlefield of the Somme, run by the Canadian government with still intact British and German frontline fire trenches, cemeteries, monuments and more. Highly recommend visiting. The free car park has a lovely picnic area. The friendly and very polite Canadian tour guides provide you with a self-guiding map or personal tour, and it's free to visit. It is highly recommended.

A site of unimaginable trench warfare no that long ago in the 1910s, you can still see the trench lines in the earth to this very day.

VERY INTERESTING. AND THE YOUNG LADY FROM NEWFOUNDLAND WAS A VERY GOOD STORYTELLER. SHE TOOK US LITERALLY INTO THE WAR. 👌👌👌

When you see the remains of the battlefield at Beaumont-Hamel, you realise the hell it must have been for the troops here. Only a matter of yards apart from the Germans, these young men were slaughtered for tiny gains. Their bravery and tenacity, however, is admirable. This site is very moving, and the Canadian students acting as guides for their four-month stints are friendly, informative, and helpful.

When visiting Vimy, a lovely helpful guide suggested we also visit here. Absolutely brilliant, enthusiastic guides bring history to life. Wonderfully organised.

Very good. I would like to come here for some more time and to fully see the visitor centre. I would easily recommend anyone to come here.

Such a beautiful park which has preserved the front lines as they were during the Battle of the Somme. Also there is a massive Caribou monument.

Walk in the footsteps of these brave young men along the grass green original trenches of war! This is not only a memorial but an experience of the terror and loss of so many souls in a muddy unforgiving lonely far from home fear! The bronze caribou high on the hill with opened mouth almost crying out for all that have died and gone! Let it's cries be heard. Sleep well young men among the fields in France may your souls be blanketed in maple leaves and homely mountains from where you belong!

I had a a very enriching time on this site. Very good visual reminders of the Great war, makes for a great learning opportunity, with the supplement of the guided tour offered by the guides!

Well worth a visit, a beautifully maintained memorial space, shady and peaceful. Very informative free guided tour by Canadian students bilingual in French and English. Visited as a family with 2 children, ages 10 and 13 and they found it interesting and made them think and ask questions. Shout out to Jessica who was our fabulous guide which brought it all to life. There is a small, good museum plus clean toilets. No cafe or drinks facilities but we were not there for that. Opportunity to walk the front line trenches, and see no man's land. Great visit. PS it might feel like you are driving to nowhere but the satnav will get you there!

We found this lovely little war mamouraual on our route from the crater, for the Canadians with some trenches, and a cemetery and a small information centre explaining what went on,

This is a really beautiful memorial. We arrived just in time for an English language guided tour by Emma which was excellently delivered. Lots of area to walk around and reflect. The museum is very moving.

A must-see for any Canadian, especially Newfoundlanders. Very well kept, an important reminder of the wastefulness of war, and the hope for a better tomorrow they fought for.

Fabulous free WW1 site to visit. Start at the visitors centre for information and a map. The guides in the centre are very helpful. Self guided tour around the site, well laid out with numbered points of interest. Definitely worth a visit.

A beautiful memorial. You can walk through the remains of a WW1 trench. The craters in the ground can also still be seen. Volunteer guides are very helpful and knowledgeable. Worth a visit to pay your respects.

This place...well I had to say as being a retired soldier this place gave me the chills just thinking about the past. The guides here are from Canada which made me so proud. There were knowledgeable about the area. It was humbled by being here.

Visiting this beautiful war memorial...set in lovely countryside ...brings home to me how our armed forces and support groups must have been so brave to endure the horrors of war......have we not learned from this? Seeing the lines and thinking of the absolute terrors that war evokes...could give us nightmares. These sites are so necessary...lest we forget. Thank you to the Canadian volunteers who talked of the soldiers and their lives there.

If you want an insight into the major battles and horrors of WW1 then this battlefield memorial as well as the one at Vimy Ridge are a must to visit. The Canadian government owns both locations and maintains them to the highest standard. To add to this poignant experience Canadian University interns provide tours at both sites. All the individuals I met were extremely knowledgeable and extremely keen to impart that knowledge to the public.

Wonderful visit to this museum and memorial. Free tours are given by young history students from New Foundland. The young lady we had for our tour was confident, well spoken and extremely knowledgeable. Thank you so much. Although you can go into some trenches to get a feel for how it was, one addition that would be nice , would be to set up a small part like it would have been, with artificacts, equipment, mud, barbed wire etc. It would bring home the horror even more of what our soldiers endured. But thank you. A wonderful and moving visit.

Beautiful and moving. There is a self-guided tour that does a great job of explaining the significance of the terrain, or if you’re lucky you may get a free tour by one of the staff there (they were offered every hour except the lunch hour the day we were there, and we just happened to come in that off hour). There is a good exhibition in the visitors center including a replica of the book of names in the chapel and a few first person accounts from the war. A few tips: 1) eating is not allowed in the memorial area, but there are some picnic tables next to the parking lot. They were in full sun at 13:00. 2) the road in is not busy, so it’s fine for bikes though like the vast majority of the roads in this area there is no shoulder. Also it’s a wee climb.

This Memorial is very well done. It has very well preserved WW1 trenches which give tourists a good feel for what the battlefield would have been like. I highly recommend it to all who are interested in learning about the Somme.

Nice visit, you can still see the tops of the trenches and, with the help of the very friendly and welcoming staff based at the memorial, get a sense of what front-line troops endured. Well worth a visit.

Very impressive memorial grounds. Walking around here seeing the remenants of the trenches really portrais the war for not just the New Found land troops but also for the german opponents. The focus on a smale section of the battle field works really well.

Well worth a visit, particularly if you are visiting Thiepval as this is very close. Great to get a view of the frontline trenches and scarred battlefield.

A great memorial for a fantastic bit of history. Had a delightful and informative free tour from Zoe that helped us to fully understand and appreciate the situation, battle and the landscape.
