Porta Castiglione is one of the best preserved gates of the old city of Bologna. Having been restored to its former glory, it will give you a very good idea of what many of the city gates used to look like when they actually had a practical function.

Castiglione The gate belongs to the third and last circle of the walls from the second half of the 13th century. It was remodeled in the early 15th century and brought to its present form in the early 20th century following the demolition of the walls. It is located on the Wet side of the Macarena Park; which is the largest park in Bologna. CITY OF BOLOGNA
