Called in for a coffee and tapas while travelling north through Spain on the main Autovia Alicante (A31 / E903). The restaurant is situated just off the motorway on the N310. The restaurant was warm and friendly with a good range of tapas to choose from. We only had coffee and a light snack but staff were busy cooking a large "mixed grill" of meats on a large open fire situated behind the bar - the food looked and smelled delicious and was served as a sharing plate to a family seated near to us. Unfortunately, time was against us on this occasion but I intend to give the place another visit when we're passing in a couple of months time and hopefully we can sample some of the grilled meats during a more leisurely visit. The Soupa de Ajo and Flan were delicious! We visited in between normal meal times so there was not much going on, but service was good and we would definitely go back!

Our favourite stop between any overnight resting place and home in Murcia, or, vice versa! Good all year around with the best coffee, freshly squeezed OJ and typically Spanish snacks, including tortillas. More substantial food is cooked on the largest fire you will have ever seen. Service has always been excellent, and we have always been made welcome.

What a gem! The long journey we take from the shores of the Mar Menor to Santander will forever more take even longer, having discovered Juan Anyonio. It's just off the main road, so needs a little finding , but your patience will be well rewarded. There are thousands of this type of cafes dotted all around Spain. They all offer great value, for usually very good Spanish food. Something special about Juan Antonio, difficult to pin point, that sets if aside. Yes the food is good, yes it is very comfortable, yes the service, and this can be unusual, is excellent. I recall, sitting enjoying my cafe con leche that next time I come here if will be between autumn and summer, when I will benefit from the massive " horno " at the far end of the bar, over which the delicious meats and chicken were being cooked. My style of no nonsense, down uto earth, heavenly place! I wonder if they do accommodation?
