Friendly (but a bit pushy) waiter and so-so food. The cod was undercooked and on the verge of becoming spoiled. Edit: I do not appreciated being threatened in the reply by the owner so I removed 1 additional star. Additionally, one in the company felt sick the day after (may or may not have been the food here)

Doesn't not worth it. Bacalhau no taste at all, salmon to small, a mixed salad for 2.5 euros is a shame. 102 euros for 4 people, without enjoy it. One off the waiters (I believe the supervisor) rude, laughing on my starter choice... Unbelievable moment.

I have eaten a few times here and it’s always been great when I came speaking portuguese. I eventually brought friends over since I think the fish here is nice and I had only good reviews. It seems like something changes when you speak english with them, as the waiter was extremely rude when my friend ordered something in english. He was mocking her, and later making jokes in portuguese which obviously my friends did not understand. Please train your staff better, it was embarrassing coming over raving about this restaurant only to have the staff be so rude to my friend. Do you really expect foreigners to speak portuguese?? Review changed from 3 stars to 1 to reflect the also rude comment left on my review here.

Lunched here today. Brilliant. The service was good, staff happy and professional. Great ambience, sat outdoors which is a plus. Great food. Had the biggest tuna steak a ' lagareiro', big enough for 2. Delicious. My husband ate 'lombinhos de peixe', like fillet fish, in banana and passion fruit sauce , unusual but amazing. .highly recommended and can't wait to eat there again.

I ate the shrimp bread soup (açorda de camarão), a delicious typical Portuguese dish that is difficult to find nowadays because it doesn't really appeal to tourists. Tourists are welcome in any country, but please don’t judge our food on social media. Maybe Portuguese cooking is not for your taste because you weren’t raised eating it, but it doesn’t give you the right of talking badly about it. Can you imagine someone judging the food that your mother or grandmother make? I believe the food in every country should be respected and not just erased from history to please someone who’s ignorant.

My two sons and I had a splendid time at O Viriato. The service was efficient and friendly. The food was stunning: I had the grilled dorado, my first son (16) had the bâclau and my other son had the lamb. We all agreed that it was one of the best food we ever had (and we travel a lot!). I strongly recommend this restaurant for an authentic Portuguese fabulous food experience !

Amazing fresh food. If you are looking for local food in Caiscais, its the placeto be. Friendly staff and service. Ask for Pedro, he is the restaurant manager.

It was my love and I's last day I'm Cascais just south of Sintra. A quaint coastal town with a decent night life but a few tourists heavy restaurants. This is a locals place tucked away in the back streets of a neighborhood. They don't speak much English but we're so nice to try for us. We got a table and as things are in Portugal, be patient don't be in a rush. We had the Cod grilled with garlic and potatoes. It was a huge portion and was good. My love ordered a shrimp and rice curry, like a soup. It was good and also a huge portion. We appreciate the local places this one is worth a stop for traditional Portuguese food.

Viriato is a Portuguese restaurant situated in the center of Cascais. The staff is exceptionally friendly and accommodating. I have dined at this establishment on three separate occasions and can attest to the satisfactory quality of the food and hospitality. It is an ideal location for both groups and couples. The prices are slightly higher than average, but this is due to the restaurant's location in a tourist area and the superior quality of the cuisine. I highly recommend both the steak and fish dishes.

Lucky to get a table for lunch without reservations and outside. The seafood chowder was great and grilled sea bass too.

Eccentric owner, traditional Portuguese food. We had outstanding grilled sardines that were a special. Great place to go a bit away from the tourist crowds in the center.

We ate at this restaurant after getting the tip from the host of our hotel in Cascais. We wanted to eat local/portuguese food and they certainly had it here. Lots of choice of fish and meat dishes. In addition, pleasant atmosphere and very friendly staff who helped us. This restaurant is a hidden gem!

Traditional restaurant with family management style. Food was tasty but service was a bit busy and stressed 😅 we tried a grilled dorada, a Robalo and a codfish recipe. 🐟🐠

😐 So, firstly, the food here was very good! The starters were very tasty and huge portions (so beware unless you're really hungry), and the pizzas we had were delicious. And if you have a table by the window facing the sea, the view is lovely. However... overall experience was soured by poor service....

👍👍 Perfection. Spider crab was very well cooked, and was cut and set to eat with least effort. Steamed octopus was so tender and seafood rice had rich taste. And all the foods went so well with green wine. Wish I could visit again.
