Taberna Económica de Cascais

Restaurant

👍👍 One of the best meals. We had the bread with the sardine pate, delightful. I don’t often eat meat but the fried fish balls, apologies that I don’t have the exact name, was stellar. Perfectly fried with a soft crunch and tender on the inside. The octopus was devoured before I could get a bite, a test... People often mention octopus, friendly, service, delicious, recommend, restaurant,

This place is a gem. Small but friendly. Easy location near train station. The first night I tried, it was packed. I came back early the next night and it was not crowded. The octopus specialty dish was excellent. It was the most tender grilled octopus I have had in Portugal. Great prices and service.

Delicious, fresh, home cooked food. Dishes typical of the local area. We really enjoyed everything we had. So delicious. We ordered the octopus for main and cod with spinach and potatoes. Both cooked to perfection, so tender and well flavoured. The waiter was very friendly. Menu available in at least 5 different languages. Home made desserts were delicious too. Huge range of drinks, family friendly. There isn’t much room inside so book a table to avoid disappointment.

One of the best meals. We had the bread with the sardine pate, delightful. I don’t often eat meat but the fried fish balls, apologies that I don’t have the exact name, was stellar. Perfectly fried with a soft crunch and tender on the inside. The octopus was devoured before I could get a bite, a testament to its deliciousness. I had the vegetable spaghetti and it was filling, savory, and near close to a heavenly experience. The staff was friendly, attentive, and busy. Know what to order ahead and be patient. I highly recommend.

Visited on a Friday afternoon during a tour and had the place to ourselves. We ordered bread, tuna pate, spaghetti with tomato sauce (vegetarian), and cod. Husband really enjoyed the cod which also came with potatoes and spinach. The spaghetti was average flavor. Service was friendly and prompt. Would recommend for an easy, quick meal in the area.

Delicious food, reasonable prices, friendly service. Seafood rice is strongly recommended. Expect some waiting to be seated during rush hours.

Although it is in the very centre of Cascais - so a kind of tourist reataurant - the food is really very good. (And the the older waiter/manager? is a crazy old gangsta... By his words everything is very good, very nice, but really, it is...)

Loved loved loved our experience here! We had a wonderful waitress, who worked with our English and we worked with her Portuguese. The food and drinks were delicious. The restaurant is small and intimate inside, outside seating also available. The price point was perfect!

We are tourists and had a day trip here in Caiscais and was very happy to have dined at this restaurant. Juliana was wonderful and recommended the octopus main course as it was very unique at this establishment and she was absolutely correct! The octopus was cooked to perfection, had a ton of flavour and basically melted into the mouth. It’s very hard to cook octopus without it turning into rubber - excellent cook at this restaurant to have created the exact opposite! I recommend this restaurant to any tourist who is visiting for the first time. You won’t go wrong!

Perfection. All the house specialties are delicious. The octopus with potatoes and spinach, cod with potatoes and spinach and the seafood rice. Sangria was great as well. Lovely family run spot.

The octopus salad is one of my best meals - ever. The loveliest people, attentive service and the best all around atmosphere. Go if you want something truly authentic in food & vibe.

Very good experience here. First of all, they told us they didn't allow reservations for lunch, but ended up making us a favour. We arrived half an hour before and weren't mad at us. Then, it was hot and they kindly offered us to move the table towards the shade of the parasol. The food was incredible. We recommend everyone to try the Bacalhau à Bras! Very tasty, cheap and big portion.

Popular among tourists as it’s located on a street with heavy foot traffic, this place is a solid option for home-style cooking. Avoid sitting inside as space is tight; try to grab a table out front. Service is very fast, but friendly and accommodating. We ordered the grilled octopus entree that was quite rubbery and missing any char.

The food was really tasty (we had the seafood rice for two people) and the location is nice! The service could be more polite though. The price per person is 25 to 30 euros. All in all, I would recommend it.

Me and my husband had an octopus salad and seafood rice. Both dishes were great. We didn’t finish the seafood rice, because the portion was pretty big for us, especially after we shared an octopus salad. Service was really good 👍

😐 So, firstly, the food here was very good! The starters were very tasty and huge portions (so beware unless you're really hungry), and the pizzas we had were delicious. And if you have a table by the window facing the sea, the view is lovely. However... overall experience was soured by poor service....

👍👍 Perfection. Spider crab was very well cooked, and was cut and set to eat with least effort. Steamed octopus was so tender and seafood rice had rich taste. And all the foods went so well with green wine. Wish I could visit again.
