Hospital CUF Cascais

Hospital Private hospital

😠 The hospital didn't take care of the medical insurance and charged the full cost of the treatment. I'm having a lot of trouble getting a refund, a garbage hospital that takes a month to check the results of an MRI scan. I got a cancellation notice a day before my visit. A patient who's seriously ill... People often mention hospital, para, doctor, service, good, Hospital, staff, doctors, Cascais, waiting,

I wanted to write a positive review, I really did. In the end tho, this Hospital is just a mess of a place, from 1h delays while desperately wanting to hit the toilet but unable because it was necessary for the exam, the check in machines not working and taking 15 minutes just to check in, nothing seemed to work. I give 3 reviews because wifi is free, and the staff is friendly for the most part.

Because it is Easter vacation from next week. a hospital where Easter holidays are more important than patients

I'm writing about my experience at CUF Cascais during a 3 month period which involved countless visits after I broke my elbow. I visited the emergency room, had many x-rays, myriad pre-surgery tests, surgery, an overnight stay, and follow-up appointments. First, the vast majority of the staff were very kind, empathetic, and helpful. Of course you always run into someone who maybe isn't as gentle or isn't as friendly as the others, but overall the staff exceeded my expectations. Second, the layout of the hospital can be confusing, especially if you aren't familiar with the Portuguese system of using tickets and waiting rooms. Don't hesitate to ask if you are in doubt, and you will be directed to the correct location. Third, as someone who is still working on their Portuguese, I had no trouble, as most of the staff can speak English if you need, or speak slowly to make it easier to understand (I still recommend learning Portuguese if you intend to live here long-term, though-- it's the right thing to do). Fourth, the facilities all seemed up-to-date. I was very comfortable. I had a very nice, large, clean single room for post-surgery recovery with a view of a park. I don't remember the names of everyone who helped me, but I will forever be grateful to the ER nurses whose jovial demeanor calmed me down, the post-surgery nurses who were so kind and caring, the anesthesiologist who put me to sleep so nicely, the nurse who removed my staples so gently, and my surgeon, Dr. Tiago Carvalho, who did an amazing job with my surgery and assuaging all my concerns! 5/5 stars, I hope I never have to return ;)

This place is a joke. During my emergency ortopedic consultation, I was charged for a band that I never asked for, and was not advised that I would be over charged for that. I filled a complaint which was replied 4 months later, with a very vague and generic response. Now I have been receiving calls and email from their collection company. Apart from that, I did an image exam (which costs me 120 euros) with the worst medical report (laudo) ever! When I sent the results to doctor in other medical clinics, they stated it was very incomplete with lot of basic information missing. Poor service! I dont recommend this place at all.

I had a dermatological visit at CUF Cascais. The doctor, who was more focused in chatting with me rather than doing his job, he forgot to give me one of the two prescriptions he told me he would have given me. As soon as I realized it, I called the Hospital and the secretaries said the doctor would have sent me an email with the missing prescription. The day after I called 3 more times and this problem is still not solved: the doctor never got back to me. Such a terrible service, it's just unbelievable!!!!

Pretty sure the wait times at this private hospital are now longer than the public hospital. Save yourself some money and bad service. Staff are more interested in chatting about the lunch they had rather than keeping you informed. You’re usually met with a very fed up person at the main desk, and the rest of the experience remains the same.

hard to find the emergency department, people did not like to help. Once arrived at the doctors, she did not properly exmine me (had pain in my shoulder) and only prescribed me random painkillers. The pain went away for a few weeks, but then came back. TOld the doctor that I had this issue for a longer time already, but she simply ignored me. Paid 100 Euros, plus medication at the pharmacy, for nothing. Very bad.

This is an awful place. Their IT is down today and people are left in the dark regarding their appointments. No apologies no update no nothing. I have been waiting for one and half hour for the doctor to see me. So much for a private hospital.

The staff not only speaks excellent English, but they also provide a level of service that exceeded my expectations. My experience with physical therapist Rita Ferreira was truly outstanding. Her expertise, professionalism, and dedication to my well-being made a significant difference in my rehabilitation journey. I am grateful for the exceptional care I received from this location.

The hospital is very near our place. Accessibility is great. However, I feel they need more auxilliary and administrative staff to help patients navigate the premises from waiting rooms, to floor number, etc. My family doctor, Dr. Filho was great in explaining and clarifying things to me.All in all, I am generally pleased.

Quite efficient; surgery was punctual. Perfectly adequate room and facilities. Good food! Pleasant nursing staff although very noisy - no concession to patients who may be feeling poorly and want to rest! Lack of information beforehand on practical issues such as what to bring to hospital. Overall a positive experience.

The administration of CUF is simply a total nightmare. I was charged twice the same amounts plus paid these since I wasn’t presented the bill at checkout at the reception. It took me weeks with calls, messages and mails to get my money back. I thought all was good when I started to get payment reminder for the bills which had been reimbursed. Again I have called, send messages and talked to people at the reception. Unfortunately I keep getting reminders for the € 34 bill. The administration at CUF is totally broken. Folks are nice but nothing gets solved. I have never experienced that in my life.

A shameful service and a horrible experience to avoid. I was there multiple times and almost each time it was a horrible experience: they normally forget to call by the number: several times I waited to be called only for a reception for about an hour just to learn later that “smth got wrong”. Once I came to make some blood test and had to wait for about 40 mins and when I came directly to the medical stuff, they were all free and chatting… Really disgusting. I put several complaints, but no one cares it seems.

Very long waiting lines. A single pediactrician on a holiday to attend a packed waiting room. And to make things worst in the end you need to take another number and wait in line to pay before you leave. Took me 35 min just to pay after waiting over an hour and a half to see the doctor with my 7 year old running a fever and vomiting. Not much of a difference from going to a public hospital for free.

(Translated by Google) My Mother entered the CUF Cascais Hospital with a left femur fracture on March 29, 2019. She was hospitalized for surgery because it could not be immediately because she was having an anti-coagulant treatment. Four days later she was operated on but only when she entered the block, at 0 o'clock on the following Wednesday she noticed that there was no consent for surgery! They telephoned me and I had to go to the hospital at midnight to give my consent, otherwise my mother would not be operated on that day. She was discharged the following Wednesday, and it was only on that day that I was able to speak to the doctor who operated on her and we agreed that she would leave the next morning. That night my mother passed away. To this day I do not know the cause, they did not give me any report, I could not even talk to the doctor who operated it! In addition, my mother had Multicare insurance, which was triggered but until today, 27.5.2019, the billing is not Closed because the doctor's report is missing! Ive had good experiences with GP doctor and ..various exams...BUT! Noticed the less than friendly response in Admin section to the fact I struggled in Portugese and couldn't understand the admin procedures with the endless tickets and machines. Normally the patients themselves(lovely Portugese people) helped me..not the staff! Have recently had a horrendous experience with Dermatologist who should never have been let out of his house to tend to PEOPLE! Seeing that this is a PRIVATE hospital with corresponding fees..I'.m writing a formal complaint! Sad to experience this in my new country of residence.

I had an urgent issue because of an eye infection on a Sunday. Registration at the counter was uncomplicated. Staff is rather robotic. Waiting time is moderate. All in all I was there for an hour. You will see on the screen when your turn is. The doctor was not specified but competent enough to solve my issue. For more complicated cases, I would be worried. I paid 110€, which of course is quite some money. I was reimbursed by my insurance but without having an insurance its quite expensive.

We unfortunately had to visit A&E twice last weekend. Both times my husband was so well looked after. Polite friendly & professional staff (good level of English spoken ) We saw the Triage nurse within 5 minutes of arrival & care was fast after that too. But this obviously depends on the care you need. Very reassuring to have this hospital in Cascais.

(Translated by Google) I went the day before yesterday with my newborn daughter to have an ultrasound. I regret to inform you that the hospital is one of the least safe places to be. The difference between chairs is about 50 cm, at the reception I am less than a meter from the person next door. And they asked me to pick up the ATM that was in front of the other person to be served at the reception. The entrance machine ran out of paper which caused an accumulation around where I was being attended to at the reception. The waiting room was too full, so I had to wait in the corridor ... it is ridiculous the lack of conditions that your hospital has, especially being a private one. The staff and coach were friendly, the only positive thing. In Covid's time I will not enter there anymore. I could have gone to a state hospital, not paying anything, and I didn't risk making my daughter sick as it happened there. For a private hospital, this is extremely inefficient. Count on standing in line at least 4-5 times just for going there once. Anything is less is considered a bonus. I went there to see the ortopedic doctor and to take an x-ray. I spent 2,5 hours waiting, then i had to leave because the hospital was so slow and bureaucratic. I had not even visited the doctor. Incredible service Another incident is when they operated my son without giving proper anesthetics. My child was left severely traumatized

Take care when going to this hospital. I went there two weeks ago at 22:30 and was seen relatively quickly but the doctor that attended to me was irresponsible and incompetent and caused me a traumatic week in Cascais when I was supposed to be on holiday. Due to her irresponsibility I could not fly back home and had to delay my flights by 4 days. I had to go back to a hospital and chose the Cascais public hospital and even though you wait much longer, at least the doctors there listened to me and are knowledgeable.

Had our blood drawn here for some routine tests. The nurse did not wear any gloves while she got urine from someone then proceeds to get our blood. She then wiped some excess blood off the needle with a small piece of wipe, opens the garbage with her bare hands and throws it away. All with bare hands. She was not using gloves at all or washing between patients. She clearly never used gloves or washed all day. So now we must wait 3 weeks and the supervisor agreed to give us free tests to see if we contracted anything because of her lack of care. Absolutely unnaceptable. Filled out the Complaints Book.

Hope you have an emergency during the night! I say this because I had a stone stuck in my kidney during the early morning as as I arrived to the hospital, it was extremely packed at the pre-ER room, especially with elderly people complaining about, some clearly angered that me limping in there with my wife barely holding me, that I directly approached the service desk rather than stand behind 10 elderly people in line that were clearly well enough to stand and complain. Until the morphine kicked in it was approx 90 mins. Until the point I could lie down it happened rather fast, luckily the nurses took me serious and that went very professional. But the ER-room was once again packed with people, elderly but with their whole families. They were chatting, laughing, talking about which lunch to receive, it was basically a country club. Everything else went swift, the service was very professional and fast. I was able to walk out of there approx 5 hours later with all solved. Now, I had to return there due to my wife's extreme high fever (41C) in the middle of the night and I noticed something. The Pre-ER room was empty, the ER was empty too except one bed, so it is safe to assume that apparently at some ages, medical conditions never happen during cozy bed time in the middle of the night. So if you have a a box of patience-pills, definitely take that along if you need to visit the ER during regular "business hours" because the place is flooded by elderly people talking and complaining about.

(Translated by Google) My 3 year old son had minor surgery on the adenoids and ears. She did no preoperative analysis and was discharged 2h later. At the end of that day, he developed a 40-degree fever that did not subside with acetaminophen. The surgeon I called told me it was normal and should not give anti-inflammatory. Discontented, I went to the AP of this same hospital. They put my son naked in a bed under a cold air conditioner and soaked in wet towels. After 4 hours, they still found it normal for the fever not to subside and they kept asking me to be more aggressive in wetting it. I asked for analysis; refused to do so. I went from there to Dona Estefânia Hospital. After my 3 year old son has pneumonia, possibly contracted by aspiration during surgery made with the doctor who did not want to go see the permanent service, because it was "normal". You will receive notification from my lawyer. Irão receber a notificação do meu advogado.

(Translated by Google) - Excellent in meeting schedules. - Less good at doctors (there are good and less good). Beware of installed interests !! I removed the visic on the advice of a general practitioner (according to him, as he was in Angola, he had two large stones and could have a crisis there). I got scared and had an operation. After several stomach problems following the operation I approached some gastroenterologists (no longer at CUF) concluding that the removal of the visicle was not timely. The stones were large (small ones can cause seizures). On the other hand, being in Angola and having a crisis there was no reason to remove the visic since it suffered from the stomach and only in case of infection would it be justified. It also had the appendix and the risk was identical and was not advised to remove it. Result: It was a useless operation and my stomach got worse. Assustei-me e fui operado.

Find another hospital! My 6yo daughter injured her hand at her birthday party. Dr said nothing wrong after looking at x-ray - but he did an x-ray of the arm, not the painful wrist! Daughter was still in pain on Monday. Took her back again. Dr put daughter's hand in plaster but wrapped the bandage too tight. Next morning, she was in pain again, with a huge swollen hand due to the tight bandage. :( Even removing the bandage/plaster when it was healed was a slow, inefficient process involving several staff and delays. Both doctors (Barradas & Limos) had very bad bedside manner and were not very friendly or helpful. In summary, a fancy-looking hospital with poor quality doctors, slow inefficient admin etc.

For me, that I was once the CUF Infante Santo in Lisbon, more than once, I can say that the Cascais is far superior to the other in service, they are very efficient and incomparably superior in sympathy and organization because, Even in a situation of urgency we are treated much faster !! (Translated by Google) After all things are not what they seem. The Hospital bets on image rather than efficiency at the human level. There was no pro-activity by the hospital receptionists in assisting several incoming and confused patients in ticketing both to pay and to enter even though the reception desk was 2 meters away. Active listening to doctors and screening (and here I understand that patients and people can express themselves badly) is not the best as there are often reports of misguided medical observations that trigger tests that have nothing to do with the problem. that people have by eventually taking exams that aren't necessary. I understand that it is a "health service" has the word service, but mechanized argumentation resembles bank or callcenter scripts removing some human character that hospitals should have. It is nonetheless a clean, clean space with good accommodation and is undeniable being excellence in this regard. Multicultural environments have more problems in communication and interpretation and may trigger some errors of evaluation and misunderstandings, I noticed that some problems could also come in this sense, something to improve for a better understanding among all. ___ After all things are not what they seem. ___ After all things are not what they seem.
