A family friendly hotel. Typical buffet breakfast, however the hot meals was only warm. You had to pay to use the safe box in your room.( this was a first for me) The decor was dark, could do with more lighting around the lobby and hallway. However, outside the pools were nice, headed, ( unlike the breakfast). Nice location for sunbathing, nice little bar food foods and drinks. Staff very friendly. Great location for walking into Cascais. Use the garden gate, its closer to the road. Overall I enjoyed my stay here.

Good location, friendly staff. I'd say this hotel is more 3 star than 4... The cleaners didn't clean the floor of our room, they didn't clean the bathroom, change the towels or the bed sheets. They simply emptied the bins and made the bed, that's it. The breakfast buffet was okay, the coffee was good. I'd recommend this hotel for families, not couples looking for some peace and quiet.

Location is fantastic. The pool outside and grounds are really nice. Breakfast the first night of our stay was terrible, but improved to "decent", at best. The breakfast staff were very nice, which brought up the star count. We reserved 2 rooms nearby a few months ago, but when we got there, they were on completely different floors with no ability to accommodate. Both rooms were very dated (think 1980s for one of them) and didn't smell great. You know, that awesome smell of 30 year-old carpet.

Friendly and helpful staff. Had to leave before breakfast and got a breakfast-box. Rooms are spacious and clean. The rooms at the front of the hotel have a nice view on the Atlantic Ocean. Rooms at the east side look out over the museum and lighthouse. Parking is free of charge. The hotel is very close to the beach, harbour and old town of Cascais.

Thankfully we only stayed for one night in a junior suite. The kitchenette was from tge 70's and the carpet needed a good washing due to the amount of staining it had. For a 4-star hotel we were expecting something much nicer then what we received. I am sure the hotel has nice rooms, but we did not stay in one.

Well located. Large room but with big noise from the elevators. Average breakfast. And really disappointing buffet for dinner.

Utterly Negligent and Zero Accountability During our stay at this hotel, we faced a distressing incident when our child was involved in an accident using their small pool due to clear unsafe conditions (also noticed by other parents). What really upset us was how the hotel handled the situation. Initially, they assured us that their insurance would cover the incident (trip to the hospital, analysis, wheelchair as she couldn’t walk for 2 weeks). However, when the insurance company refused to honor this commitment, the hotel simply stopped communicating with us. Horrendous experience DO NOT STAY THERE!

We've been here twice now. It gets better every time. The animation team is very friendly and very attentive to the needs of the children. The pools are very clean first thing in the morning and there are always plenty of places to put your towel. Always clean. Breakfast good, lots of variety and pancakes for the kids. Lovely view of the sea from the room. Amazing.

Loved our stay in Vila Gale Cascais. Arrived to a beautiful room with sea view. Staff were friendly. Spotlessly clean hotel. Brilliant housekeeping team cleaned the room daily. Gorgeous pool area. Really good choice for breakfast, food very good. Great location, only a few minutes walk to town. Were able to accommodate late checkout on departure due to late scheduled flight. Michael on reception was helpful, very friendly, gave us local information about where to visit on our stay and arranged taxi transfer to airport on checkout. Will definitely return to this hotel again. Great experience.

Very nice hotel. The rooms are large and the one I had a balcony with a view of the sea and the swimming pool. The breakfast buffet is really excellent, fantastic choices to eat. Nice bars and amenities including a spa with treatments. The only downside is that there are no tea / coffee facilities in the room.

Just spent 10 days at Vila Gale, Cascais. Great location, views, and staff but so disappointed as the rooms are so very dated and tired, stained ,damaged furniture with musty smell in our room. Have stayed at other Vila Gale hotels, different standard assumed this would be the same. Really needs updating big time. Had to pay for use of safe in room, never been charged on any holiday before to use safe.

Excellent family hotel. Have holidayed here twice and will do so again. Breakfast is excellent. Recommend going before 9am to avoid the crowds. Fantastic location and views of ocean Great pool area with activities for children Staff are friendly and helpful. Walking distance of Cascais town center. E-scooters nearby if you don’t want to walk. The rooms are standard. Service times for drink and snacks at pool area can be long and is an area where the hotel could improve.

A super location, beautiful sea views and in walking distance of Cascais. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was spotlessly cleaned daily. The buffet breakfast was good but the cooking station was too small and only one chef. Hence there was a long wait and the chef rushed to get through the queue. Hence Eggs were undercooked which raised concerns with a young regnant woman. We were also concerned that the bread and pastries were uncovered by perspex protectors. Post covid, we found this worring and so didn't touch them.

The room was dark without much lighting. We had to turn all lamps on to see the room at night. Also the AC (we think) was noisy during the night, but then at some point it stopped, better bring earplugs. Overall the stay was pleasant and the breakfast was great. We didn't use the pool since we stayed in December. There's a gate at the back, which you can open with your room card, which allows you to take a shortcut to the marina or the centre of Cascais.

Made to feel very welcome by Sofia when we checked in. Lovely view from our spacious room which was very clean. Comfy beds. Great location with an easy walk into the old town. Breakfast buffet has good choices. Marina with a selection of restaurants just across the street. Spent 11 days at the hotel and would definitely like to return as the staff are all so helpful and make you feel as if they are happy you are there.

The location of the hotel is stunning, with a beautiful town and excellent restaurants nearby. Sadly, we did not get the chance to eat food in their local restaurants as our stay in the hotel was half-board The hotel is dated and requires significant refurbishment. The rooms are large but dated; they need to refurbish the suites. Their AC does not function properly, and we had to request a room change three times in five days' half-board stay. Usually, hotels would upgrade the rooms for their faults or lousy quality of the rooms, but they charged us for the upgrade as we needed to change the rooms. The lights of the rooms and the entire hotel are so dim and low that the whole hotel gives a low energy with melancholy vibes. The toilets are average and dated; they have cheap soaps, shampoos, etc. We did not enjoy the stay in this hotel as the hotel atmosphere was dull and depressing despite the sea view rooms. The hotel's staff were all nice and friendly, but I feel the management of the hotel lacks good taste and excitement.

Nice hotel but as a group golfer I got one of the old stock .. there’s a difference so worth holding out for something a bit nicer. They were friendly and it’s well located. Breakfast was good with excellent service

The lights in the corridor of the 1st floor to the room were flickering and it was very dark and hot in the middle of March(?) The door to the room didn't shut or open unless you pushed on it. The room had a very old kitchenette behind a creaking door that looked like it was from the 1980's - would be better off removed. The full-body mirror was dirty, the bathtub had some bits of dust and hair in it. In the mini-bar there were someone's old box of "pasteis de nata", clearly nobody had checked to clean the mini fridge with the old food in there.. The wood around the bedroom door was chipped/burnt, not sure - but this should've been replaced. Very disappointing for such a great location! The breakfast was nice, had nice staff member that took you to your table. But it's a shame the room was run-down. It's small things like these that add up. Hotel management and owners who allocate budget need to check and be on top of these things. Our room was all carpeted, but apparently other's weren't. My recommendation is a general renovation and cleanliness check to fix these inconsistencies and make the rooms more up to date and guest-friendly

Location is great close to a very nice beach and the sea, ideal for small children as u can let them go and play without losing them to a big open beach. It can get busy but it was fine when we were there in their bank holiday. Rooms were great, but i would pay that a bit extra to get a sea and pool view with a balcony. I didn't as we were there for the kids' football tournament ibercup, so only there were 5 days. It's close to the town where theres lots of places to eat and a nice walk to the harbour.

There are lot better options in the area. Positive: Rooms, breakfast and location. Negative: Everything besides the room is old or locked. Play park is falling apart. Play room is locked and didn't even allow us to open to grab a football. Pool has slides that are dry and nobody agreed to turn them on. Pool bar unattended all week, couldn't get a beer. I collected a NO from every hotel staff for everything I've asked for. Seems like they have a rule book and that's it.

Pros: best location in Cascais with ocean front, small parking area and close proximity to Cascais restaurants streets and walking distance to train station. Decent price offer if you book upfront and lucky with promotions. Quiet place if you want to enjoy your sleep after a long walk in Lisbon. Cons: it is definitely a time for renovation. Not all rooms will offer you the same quality and sea view. Breakfast was very average and probably wasn’t worth the pay if it was the option. Special thanks to the manager Catarina for the hospitality and attention to the details.

Very spacious and clean rooms with all comfort, hearthy breakfasts, varied buffet, small pool overlooking the sea , crowded with old ladies sun tanning, Very sympathetic staff! Pitty it feels like a retirement house from Nordic people, so you don't fish a word around you, they don't eveñ look at you, so you might feel putted aside like in Stockholm, Danemark or whatever unpleasant feeling but not in Portugal!!!

Positives : Great location near the sea, marina and short walk into town. Pool area very good. Staff excellent especially Duarte and Bruno at the bar and the reception team Cons: Room very dated with an unexpected 1970s kichenette hidden behind consertina doors that once open impossible to close. Bathroom door a slider, that does not fully close, leaving a gap leading to a lack of visual and acoustic privacy.

As we was checking in there was two ladies at the reception (staff) one of the lady’s made a gesture towards me ‘ if you want me to speak Portuguese i can make it hard for you, as you don’t understand’ She the persisted to argue with her work colleague just because she had rooms ready for us and she didn’t want us to have rooms as we was early. There was 12 of us with 8 rooms and Golf clubs, we spend a lot of money on food and drink and definitely would not come back again due to the rude behaviour right from the start of our stay. The food service was slow at the bar during the day, and they were getting the food orders wrong daily. Also I have never stayed in many hotels that charge 2 euros a day for the safe. That’s nearly 40 euros for all 12 people over 3 days. Pretty bad service all round. Definitely not 4 star hotel

Just spent 4 nights there, had a pretty dated room which could do with modernisation. Was told I have to pay €2.50 to use the safe in my room !?! Was told the hotel manager and duty manager (Ines) made a late change to the breakfast time for the Ironman race because so many of us told reception that 6am wasn’t early enough but they didn’t inform all guests, so we were heavily let down by this. Staff in the reception, dining room and housekeeping were all pleasant though, but I feel the hotel manager and duty manager need to ensure schedule changes are communicated to all guests. Location is perfect for events in Cascais.

It was my first time at this city and I love it! I’ll be back next year but obviously not in this hotel! The room didn’t look like 4*, there were dirty chairs on the balcony and shabby floor. There was a persistent bad smell(( The hotel definitely needs a refurbishment.

Great hotel... we were blessed with a room overlooking the sea with a large balcony on floor level 1.. all the rooms above level 1 had better views but smaller balcony... The breakfast was fantastic for self service and all the staff seemed concensus and motivated. Yes I would recommend a stay here.

Had a great stay, friendly and helpful staff. Family friendly, nice pool area and small playground - kept kids entertained for hours. Breakfast buffet, outside cafe /bar area. And dinner buffet available. Overall great, relaxing atmosphere near sea and close to shops, restaurants and bars. Definitely we had a great time and considering of returning soon.

Not sure on the purpose of this hotel. It looks nice, but it's so far away from local amenities. Like if you want to have a quick lunch, you'll have to walk 20-30 mins to the town centre. It's not as easy with a small kid to walk there two or three times a day. Also, I've got mixed feeling about the staff. Reception experience was good. However, all other staff members weren't nice to us much. So, unless you're a looking for a swimming pool, isolation, and an average service, this place might not be for you.

From cockroaches on the reception to smelly rooms coming straight from the 80s, almost everything here comes with a disappointment feeling. The only highlight is the pool area. Breakfast looks like a varied and tasty one but once you start eating it’s all bland and below average. We were given a side room with absolutely no view, with purple carpets (dirty and wore). My kids “beds” were super uncomfortable and bedding was more like a table cloth. Room service came at 4pm when not needed anymore. Surprisingly there was a kitchen in the room (that one had no maintenance for 20 years at least). I honestly can’t understand the good reviews. For this price you can get a much better hotel in Cascais. Also don’t see how this can be a 4* hotel - more like a 2.5*. Run away!

Fantastic hotel. Amazing friendly staff. They go above & beyond for their customers. Just to mention a big thank you to Paulo Pinto for his hospitality & The 2 Brunos & Mario in the bar. Great guys 10/10. We have been going there for 10 years & love this hotel. Lovely 10/15 min walk downhill into town. Breakfast suits every diet. Great variety. Also try out the spa. Had 2 massages while there in May. Both girls, Vivienne & Renata gave excellent massages. Lovely tranquil room with candles. Definitely be back in September for another treatment 10/10
