Meh. Big fan of restaurateurs being audacious and bringing solid concepts to Cascais. But!! 1. Food was good looking but disappointing in both taste and quantity. 2. Service was oddly pedantic. Waiters are OK. They underpour the drinks although they include the volumes on their own menu. Chef treated us as if we've never had a Japanese food before although we've been going to Japan every year for a decade and had some of the best Japanese food in most world cities.

We had the omakase lunch and it was everything I dreamt of and more. The entire experience was amazing, the chefs took turn to explain the food that was served and food was beyond exquisite. Everything was prepared extensively and if I could give this 6 stars I would.

Incredible dinner, easily Michelin star level. Service was fantastic, chefs were meticulous and very professional. The food was out of this world, you'll have tastes here that you've never experienced before and that's the sign of a special restaurant. Get the additional caviar because they work this into the dishes in the Omakase menu rather than it being served on the side separately, it really adds to the experience. The atmosphere is ever so slightly serious but then it's quite an intimate setting being so close to the chefs. So i think it's better this way than it being noisy and jovial, a great place for couples to go and eat in. We'll most certainly be back.

I usually don't write a review a first visit, but this place is so obviously a 5 star experience it deserves the exception. It is not often that I find myself talking excitedly about dinner for hours after having left. Both the service and the food were simply exceptional. The chefs that prepare your food and hand deliver it to you explain every dish and are happy to answer any questions you may have. The support staff are super efficient, very polite and keep your glasses full without having to be asked. Special kudos to the house sommelier who is extremely knowledgeable, helped us find the perfect sake for the evening and had great suggestions both for the food and drink. As for the food... I highly recommend sticking to the 12 course tasting menu for 110€ a person. Worth every penny, and each dish is an experience. (please see my photos here) There was very little we didn't love on this menu. The food, presentation, atmosphere and service make the experience as much theater as it is dinner. I simply cannot wait to find an excuse to go back and do it all again. Bravo to the chefs that work here, their dedication to using locally sourced ingredients, and for doing it right by aging fish properly in traditional Japanese fashion. Mind blown.

Awesome. We were happy just to walk in and find so delicious fish combination, with careful and attentive service. Dry ager and 8 year soy sauce in barrels add distinctive flavours to great blue fin tuna and local fish selection. Absolutely a must to visit for all sushi lovers

It was our first, authentic, Omakase experience and it did not disappoint. The head chef, Diego served us for the majority of the night. The taste, presentation, and atmosphere was world class. We finished the night with an extra order of their A5 wagyu together with some red wine, compliments of the house, before capping off the omakase with their refreshing desserts. Truly an unforgettable dining experience.

Ordered the omakase for 2 that currently is priced at 130€ a person, without drink pairings. I believe this covers 6 different tastings and each tastings offered a few different fishes within. While I was not totally full after the meal, I was satisfied. It would have been nice to been offered/asked for additional items such as a roll or something. Most of the fishes were locally sourced for Portugal, accept for the tuna that came from Spain and I really was happy to hear that. For the actual dishes served, they were truly all phenomenal and could not be more happier with the quality. My only slight gripe was the atmosphere was a bit dry and not as fun as I’d want, more of a business transactional feel. Expect prompt service, but with a serious face, rather than a laid back smiling type of service. I’d still come back anytime as the food is that good!

My new favourite restaurant of 2021! Atmosphere is cool and inspiring, while the service is so personal and attentive. Enjoyed every dish presentation, and especially loved the o-toro and wagyu.

Thank you very much for your amazing "Omotenashi" last weekend. I felt very special! Every plate was delicious, and so beautifully presented. I'm from Japan, and Kappo in Cascais totally exceeded my expectations!!

Thanks to the wonderful staff at Kappo for one of the best dining experiences my husband and I have ever had. Every dish on the omakase menu was memorable, we can’t stop talking about the sweatbreads and nigiri course. The meal was so enjoyable it had us attempting to alter travel plans so we could eat at Kappo one more time prior to leaving Cascais. If you’re thinking of making a reservation… DO IT.

for me the best 割烹料理屋 in Lisboa, The chef is really trained at multiple places with Japanese and he knows what the japanese food is. Amazing.

Delicious food, great service and a beautiful, minimalist interior. Another advantage is the relaxed atmosphere. We ordered the tasting menu and it was insane!!!! After such a visit, you immediately want to travel to Japan. We highly recommend <3<3<3

I dont think i´ve ever eaten better food this side of town. We did the wine pairing and it was so worth it! One complaint: making the reservation was not a plesant experience - the person answered very rudely and almost put me off coming entirley. Glad it didnt! Will be back.

A Lisbon, if not a world class Japanese fine dining moment! Needs a Michelin star! Amazing that this is in the back streets of Cascais and not the capital city! Amazing

This was by far one of our most special meals in Portugal. Fantastic attention paid to local fish and ingredients in a striking atmosphere delivered by intriguing and welcoming staff. Would recommend to any seafood lover.

Omakase was an experience. Perfectly balanced and ending with sweetness. The team was excellent and timed everything perfectly. Highly recommend making that trip to Caicais just for this.

Kappo Cascais by chef Tiago Penao. Lunch time omakase menu with 5 moments and a ton of flair. Highlights were the crispy nori seaweed with 3 week aged toro tartare (+ a smattering of caviar for good measure). The 8 year barrel fermented soy sauce and finally the toro nigiri burnt with charcoal for extra smokey umami. What an experience.
